ReimuA - 10/10 Pretty awesome shot in almost every way. Incredible control of the screen, high power, small hitbox, can 2.0 without bombs with good gohei placement, pretty decent bomb, she's just awesome in every way. Her score potential isn't as high as some types but comparing scores between shots is silly anyway. Her only downside is that it can be tough to get used to shift-tapping fast enough, but she's still 10/10 even without shift-tapping. Also she's tanoshi as fuck.
ReimuB - 6/10 She doesn't really have anything special going for her. Medicore damage, poor bomb, but she's still usable. She's below average for needle Reimu and is overshadowed by most of the other shots but she's okayish I guess.
MarisaA - 3.5/10 Quite a letdown. Her damage is very high if you get close, but you don't get all that many opportunities to do so, especially on higher difficulties. Unfortunately her damage at a distance is very poor. Pair that with the difficulty of playing Marisa and she's just not very good. Flamethrower is cool as hell though, and dark master spark is an okayish bomb, just nothing particularly special about it.
MarisaB - 8/10 Standard Marisa shot pretty much. Nice and strong. Her bomb is also pretty interesting with how many 2.0s you can get from the power items. Biggest downside is how OP the bomb is. It breaks the game to a ridiculous level, possibly even surpassing MoF's MarisaB. I think she's a poor design choice, but her playstyle is somewhat interesting, and at least her bomb was nerfed from the demo to make power items not appear during spellcards, else there would be little reason for players to ever go for spell caps during score runs when they can bomb for items instead.
SakuyaA - 9/10 Pretty good bomb both for scoring and survival, spread shot while unfocused is nice, and her focused shot is ridiculously overpowered on bosses. Her ability to slow down enemies/bosses and their bullets by locking a few knives onto them is really interesting too and has some cool potential applications. Only real downside to her is that her focused shot isn't really built for stages, but overall she's very good.
SakuyaB - 10/10 Basically the perfect scoring shot. Wide unfocused shot, a focused shot that gathers tons of PIV, the only bomb in the game that can gather PIV items from spellcards, and a bomb that only cancels bullets after it ends (allowing her to easily graze everything). As a tradeoff her focused shot is narrow and relatively weak (plus has a blind spot for a short area in front of her) and her bomb doesn't do any damage - however, for scoring purposes these can both also be considered good things, since the longer it takes to kill things, the more PIV her shot can gather, and the less damage a bomb does the better it is for milking. She's exceptionally well-balanced. She requires a high skill level to use her to her maximum potential, but if you're good enough to handle her then it really pays off.

Okay. Honest ratings this time.
ReimuA - 10/10: If there's any shot in Touhou worth 10 points it's definitely this one. This is the king of all 10/10 shots and probably the best shot type in Touhou history IMO. Well maybe that's a stretch but she's my favorite shot type in all of Touhou. ReimuA is AMAZING. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. First off. Her gohei is the best at handling stages. She can rack up some nice 2.0s that other characters can't get (or have to bomb to get). She also has a trick where she can position her gohei on the boss to do massive damage. people complain about having to reposition it but they don't realize that the moving away makes the shot a bit more fair. If you know the game well repositioning isn't hard. Also, if you damage rush the boss attacks before you're forced to move away, you can still kill the attacks at a decent time. So no bitching about the repositioning. Git Gud.
Her bomb is a bit disappointing because it doesn't cover a large area of the screen. Now, this isn't because of survival reasons. No, her bomb is plenty powerful that even only a few hits can do massive damage on boss attacks. Also, it's fairly easy to move up to hit the boss. However, for scoring reasons, she can't rack up as much PIV as SakuyaB because of her limited range. She kinda makes up for it if you can bomb graze the enemy attacks. And she does get Benben as a boss, who's my favorite stage 4 boss in all of Touhou. Seriously. The spells are fun and the nons are great for PIV gain.
ReimuA is a beast. She's so amazingly OP.
ReimuB - 4/10: This shot kinda sucks. Her needles have been nerfed from her TD days, so she's now relatively weak. In this game where the patterns are very dangerous, not being able to quickly kill attacks works to her disadvantage. She honestly has no scoring benefit because her bomb sucks and damages the bosses and hardly gets any PIV. Her unfocused homing helps in LNB to get some 2.0s but truthfully you're just better off with ReimuA. ReimuB is good if you want a challenge though.
"Top class power" my ass, Zun.
MarisaA - 4/10: Another terrible shot. Her bomb is nice for scoring, especially on Benben. But other than that she's kinda annoying to use. Her flamethrower only does decent damage if you're shotgunning but you don't get to shotgun very often outside of the first few seconds of the attack. It's not like ReimuA where you can quickly move back down after you reposition your gohei. You're literally not doing max damage unless you can actively shotgun the boss. Her shot doesn't even reach the top of the screen if you're low enough. Her unfocused lasers don't pierce and are practically useless and make it hard to get 2.0s. Also. Marisa replays still desync.
Don't bother with this shot unless you want a challenge.
MarisaB - 9/10: OP shot. Her bomb destroys the game and she can easily get max power. Also. Magic Missiles are finally strong again. She has enough power to justify her forward focus nature and her bomb only helps with that. She's a bit silly for scoring but people do enjoy it so to each their own. :3
SakuyaA - 9/10: In terms of survival this shot might be more broken than ReimuA if you know how to use her fully. She slows down the boss movement and makes them fire at a slower rate. This effectively trivializes Kagerou. Her knives can also be used to kill things even faster than ReimuA with their incredible shotgun ability. If you're close enough to a boss and unfocus before all knives fire, you can refocus again and keep exploding your knives on the bosses. Just watch Miduki's SakuyaA LNN for demonstration. She literally kills some of Sekibanki's attacks before any bullets even fire iirc.
Her bomb is also good for survival as you can just use them as borders. Also you can get two PoCs from the bomb and PiV as well.
She doesn't hit 10/10 for me because she kinda sucks on stages for bonuses with her focused shot. And also because her scoring potential just isn't as high as ReimuA's. And she has that sakuyabox wearing her down on things like Sukuna's timeout.
SakuyaB 8/10: She's the best at scoring. She's even broken in that regard. The PIV she gets from her bomb is insane and her focused shot gets even more PIV than other shots. She can easily hit numbers from 2billion and beyond on Lunatic mode and probably has much higher potential than where she's at right now.
Unfortunately she sucks at survival and that turns people off from optimizing her. It's a shame really. I know it "balances" out her shot by making her the hardest to use but the most worthwhile. But from a realistic standpoint it only discourages people from playing her on Lunatic and thus she's still not reaching optimal levels.
I wish ReimuA had the best PIV gain. But oh well...

ReimuA: 9/10 Wrecks the harder parts in the later stages, awesome against bosses, overall Reimu benefits.
ReimuB: 4/10 TD!Reimu, though in a game not really suit for her. No reason to use her over her A counterpart unless you want a tougher time.
MarisaA: 3.5/10 Awesomeness, but impracticality to the max. The flamethrower looks cool, but the fact that MarisaA isn't able to shotgun much sucks. It sucks even more that her damage output while far away isn't very good. If she retained that power, she'd definitely be one of the better shots in the game. Dark Spark is a neat bomb, at least. Still, she's quite impractical.
MarisaB: 9.5/10 EXTEND! EXTEND! EXTEND! Be amazed at the power of the Magic Absorber and how it completely tears stages (and Raiko) apart! Also, the magic missiles do great damage and getting power items from them is also neat.
SakuyaA: 9/10 This is how SA!MarisaC should've been. She dominates the main game quite a bit with her great power and great bomb.
SakuyaB: 7.5/10 Scoring at its finest. If only she was like PCB!SakuyaB and had solid damage output, but alas, the high-risk/high-reward potential this shot has is definitely worth noting.

Didn't have the chance to look deeply into B shots, but enough to form an opinion on them.
Reimu B: 7.0/10.0: A passable shot but a bit too much on the narrow side, apart from it's homing the bomb homes in one enemies making it useful for bosses unlike it's counterpart's bomb, making it the only real advantage it has over it, this bomb itself actually making it possible to deal some solid damage.
Marisa B: 10.0/10.0: Survival wise this is pretty much a god on latter difficulties, making it not even funny how much you almost don't have to give a shit about dying. That's pretty much it for it.
Sakuya B: 6.5/10.0: A shot type with a bit of spread and a decent focus damage output... which is somewhat narrow sadly, the bomb doesn't really do much in terms of survival, apart from giving you a second or two to deal damage. Decent otherwise.

I think we spent long enough on DDC. Time to move on to PoFV!
PoFV has a lot of shots, so the first week will be spent only on the starting shots i.e. Reimu, Marisa, Sakuya, Youmu, and Reisen. Please rate these five shots only for now~
Note: The remaining shots of PoFV will be rated in the two rounds after this, and it would be good to have a similar frame of reference for all shots in PoFV. Please keep this in mind when rating the shots for this week (i.e. consider the entire pool of PoFV shots instead of only the five that are being rated), since you can't change your ratings when the next round starts.

Haven't played this game in a while... But I'll try to rate them.
Reimu: 8/10
She's pretty good, her ying yang orbs are pretty good, and her attacks aren't too bad, I don't find her spell card too difficult though. Comfortable speed.
Marisa: 7.5/10
She's pretty good! Not the best attacks, although her lasers are good and she has a decent spell. Too fast though, but solid.
Sakuya: 8/10
I like this shot! Her knives are really useful although her spell isn't too hard to dodge, but still a worthy shot.
Youmu: 7/10
Her attacks are alright, but I don't find the black hole thingys very useful, but she's not bad.
Reisen: 8/10
She's great. Her attacks and spell is good and her gimmick is good too, although I'm not overly experienced with her.

I will afford you the wisdom of god. The metric itself may or may not be codified in such a way as to be partially incomprehensible, but know that I am correct regardless.
Reimu: 8/10
She's powerful because of her level 2, which limits the opponent's movement and spawns over a long period of time, meaning it cannot itself be entirely countered by a level 2 from the opponent. However, she faces extremely fast bullets constantly as they are returned from her own spells (speed is retained when bullets are sent over). Her movement is slow, and her scope is slow to expand. The charge attack is useless. These make surviving with her somewhat difficult.
Marisa: 10/10
Survival is a breeze with her speed and excellent charge attack, and she accrues more energy than other characters, meaning spells can be cast more often. Lasers suffocate the opponent and cannot be cleared by any means, eventually producing near impossible situations with brutal frequency.
Sakuya: 1/10
A single movement speed. This is strictly a weakness. Too fast for precision, too slow for anything else. The scope is awkward. The charge attack is even more useless than Reimu's. She is subject to a strange glitch; her time stop ends the bullet clearing effect of her spells. The result is that both the level 2 and level 3 clear the same area on her field, and this area is smaller than the area a normal character's level 2 would clear. Additionally, should you cast a level 2 just before an automatic level 3 occurs (through spell points reaching 500k) the time stop will cut it short instantaneously, and it will clear no bullets at all. The time stop can also toy with enemy spells, causing bullets which should have spawned over time to spawn all at once (for instance, Aya's spell can become a blanket across the whole screen). I will call this a weakness as it can lead to unpredictable things, though arguably it could be advantageous in some cases. Her spell itself is not threatening to the opponent. It spawns very few bullets, and they appear all at once. This makes it easy for the opponent to clear it away with their own spell. In fact it can often be cleared by a spell that was cast before the bullets even appeared. The knife rows can limit the opponent's movement but are very slow and become a non issue as spells are cast more frequently as the match progresses. The boss summon also uses slow, simple patterns.
Youmu: 9/10
Good movement speeds. She can be very slow or very fast at will. The sword has little cooldown, so it can be used repeatedly despite her slow charge speed. With that speed, the bullet clearing effect, and the invincibility frames that come with all charge attacks, she can easily cut through situations that no mortal should be able to dodge, and she can do it very often. The dead souls suffocate the opponent much like Marisa's lasers (though they can be cleared away), her spell attack is long lasting (so it cannot be totally countered by the opponent's spellcasting), and the boss summon uses movement restricting patterns that are completely devoid of pellet bullets. I say she is surpassed by Marisa only because her charge speed so slow, so she cannot spam level 2 spells easily, and the sword is of course useless against Marisa's lasers.
Reisen: 4/10
Good defense, terrible offense. Her spell creates too many bullets. She should only win against characters with slow charge speeds who cannot keep up with the all out spell spam that will inevitably ensue. (Reisen herself is well equipped to deal with that situation, with her good scope, charge speed, and charge attack). Even then, between skilled enough players, a single round with Reisen in it can easily take a half hour or longer, regardless of which player theoretically has the upper hand.

Rating mostly based on my experience in multiplayer/DRC round 2 scorerun attempts (where not killing AI early can bring more points). Reimu: 6/10 Personally I dislike her (terrible level 1, also bad for scoreruns due to her tendency to wall AI early very often, somewhat slow scope); however, I've seen her a lot in multiplayer, with main advantages being hitbox (come on, ZUN, I don't like differentiating characters by hitboxes unless they get some comparable advantage like bigger item/grazebox), persisting level 2 and EX attacks. While she has a good offence, I don't like playing as her on my side of the screen. Though she does allow for one of easier survival Lunatic clears, sometimes even hitting Eiki early with her bullet walls. Marisa: 8.5/10 Definitely a top tier for scorerunning, and for a reason. Fast gauge fill, lets the AI live for a while (though it was painful while doing a Hard survival clear the first time, when Eiki can last a real lot!), great level 1/charge speed/movement speed. Strong in multiplayer as well due to her lasers on both fields, but if you're playing over big distance, you might have difficulty managing her speed (even with delay 4). Another drawback is limited attack range, which needs to be compensated by mobility and fast reflexes. Even though I like playing as Marisa in other games, she doesn't get much opportunities to macrododge in this micro-infused game, so I feel like her speed is overkill, wasted in multiplayer matches (standard PoFV netplay is usually played on lunatic settings). Sakuya: 6/10 She's a fun character to play as. Good when playing "in lower tiers", especially against a less experienced opponent due to EX and boss attacks. Maybe not competitively viable (there are characters who do the same amount of damage as her with less drawbacks), her scope ended up killing me way too often, but focused speed isn't really slower than her usual speed, so you have to stay unfocused for the most part anyway. I find her level 1 more helpful than Reimu's, especially when combined with good scope usage to destroy activated spirits. Timestops are fun and got me out from a few jams (also good for extending the combo at times). Anyway, Sakuya is good when you want to mix things up a little with some "casual", laid-back approach. Fun fact: If playing against a Sakuya mirror, both players can move during timestops, which can create some quite confusing situations. Youmu: 9/10 Difficult to learn, but quite interesting and challenging character. Very good in defensive play, decent score against AI, able to survive for quite long time. Not too bad offense in multiplayer. You have to learn to prepare your level 1 even before the bullets reach you; in order to play as Youmu, you need to anticipate, watch over the whole field and be patient. Her slashes are also good for hitting fairies/spirits at sides, away from her. Nice movement speed; however, the scope requires careful planning in order to actually use (and I'm bad at it). Thankfully, you can always unfocus before you trigger too many spirits... or just slash the red bullets anyway. Most of my close yet exciting matches were played with Youmu on either my or opponent's side. Reisen: 7/10 Currently the best character for scorerunning on most difficulties. She has a very cool and quite usable scope. Her level 1, for me, is particularly good for either killing bosses or starting good chains (use level 1, move to other side, wait until it hits, shoot to continue a chain), but it requires decent aiming/timing. The downside is that most (especially multiplayer) matches turn into a real bullet chaos very fast, unless the enemy dies earlier from unnoticed EXplosions, it will mostly turn into a tennis match between level 2's. But some people like these frantic rounds. Edit: Lowered some ratings after today's gameplay session.
