"Flandre!" yelled Remilia, little explosions of dust whipped around her feet as she landed at the mansion gate. But there was no blonde vampire in sight. "Tch, too slow." said Remilia, stomping a foot.
"Milady!" called a light, clear voice. Sakuya appeared beside Remilia, a second later.
"Ah, yes, Sakuya. Hm. Continuing our discussion from before." she responded nonchalantly "I don't think we should do anything about it."
"Yes, I als-" Sakuya paused for a moment, thrown off guard "Milady, surely we should do something about this incident, it involves the residents of your mansion." she followed up curtly, as though the previous mistake had not occurred.
"Half of Gensokyo's powerful inhabitants are all figuring out this incident. We wouldn't get any action at all, joining this late." Remilia said in mock frustration "So, my dear Sakuya. We should have some fun." said Remilia quietly, a devilish grin on her face, sending familiar chills down Sakuya's spine.
"What do you have in mind, milady?" asked Sakuya, her tone neutral not betraying the sense of foreboding building up, her instinct screaming that this would not end without a fair dose of pain.
"Scarlet mist" grinned Remilia, "I have done this before, but that is the creative part, no one reuses past incidents. So we'll be the first. How exciting~"
"Milady, Reimu would sure come for us in the same way as she did last time. I don't think she would be too impressed..."
"Oh, but it won't be exactly the same." Remilia leaned towards Sakuya and whispered in her ear.
"Yes, milady. I'll inform Miss Patchouli immediately." Sakuya bowed elegantly, a swirl of cards and a gust of wind, Sakuya sorties.
"Fufu..."

DM Post starring ZM C:
‘What a pain…’
She had been flying for a while now, listening to the wind ringing in her ears, it was becoming annoying, really. Frowning her brows, Reimu thought about how long it had taken her to get out of the bamboo forest, about how Marisa had apparently vanished into thin air and how Eirin had been quick to dismiss her. Twice. How annoying.
And she could already imagine it, as if this wasn’t enough, she could see it, the empty donation box. How utterly annoying.
Humphing, the miko landed, deciding that walking would probably help venting her frustrations. Next to her, a light thump could be heard and she looked from her shoulder to the pink haired woman next to her.
“Please, remind me… Why are you following me again?”
"To make sure you don't bite off more than you can chew," Yuyuko responding, giving Reimu a stern yet simple look.
“Yes, because I’ll have a lot to chew…” The miko’s voice started getting progressively angrier. “…when I go back home and there’s that empty donation box and no money for food and--- Oh, you mean, figuratively speaking...” She shrugged casually. “It’s Komachi. She’s not dangerous in the slightest, I’ve beaten her countless times.”
Yuyuko shook her head at the shrine maiden's behavior, but kept quiet so she wouldn't say something that would potentially wind her up even more. She decided to only step in when necessary once Reimu would approach Komachi.
"Reimu," she spoke. "What will you do once Komachi is defeated? ...Well, if you defeat her."
The shrine maiden looked at her companion and deadpanned “What do you mean, ‘if’?” Then she looked to the dusty path in front of her as she walked. “The fairies told me that, if we didn’t take Marisa to the Myouren shrine, chances are the sigil she got from the ripper would kill her.” There was no expression of worry on her face, but her eyes told a different story. “I have no idea where she might be and the culprit that attacked Rumia had red hair, Marisa told me she also had a scythe. If… Komachi is the culprit, then I’ll defeat her and all of this will stop. The villagers will return to normal and Marisa won’t die. But if she isn’t…”
The ghost felt pity for the shrine maiden, knowing that this confrontation is at utmost importance for her due to the potential of the consequences riding on this occurrence.
"Well, if that's the case...I'll do all in my power to assist you," she assured her, her tone serious. "If you need me, just let me know, alright?"
“Hey, let me be the one being all serious about this for once.” Reimu looked at Yuyuko. “But thanks, Yuyuko.” She crossed her arms and closed one eye, the opened orb looking at the ghost. “And… what happened to you? You were all cheerful before stepping into Eirin’s office but you’ve been all gloomy and quiet after you left.”
Yuyuko waved her hand before using it to brush her hair under her hat, looking off to the side in contemplation. "Eirin and I went over some topics that I'm not very keen on, is all," she responded, giving Reimu a weak smile. "Pay no mind to me."
Just being reminded of the topic made Yuyuko want to flinch. The topic of death is one of the very few things that would drive her on edge, though she knew that simply ignoring it this time around would not work.
She hated having such a powerful ability. She hated having such a destructive ability.
“I bet they had nothing to with food otherwise you’d be overjoyed.” The miko replied, if it was a jab at Yuyuko or just Reimu’s way of trying to cheer her up it wasn’t clear. “Yeah, whatever it was, stop being gloomy, it’s creepy.” She stopped for a second and then added. “Even if it’s unarguably less annoying.”
Glaring at the miko for a split second before calming down, Yuyuko nodded. "Let's just keep going. Keep your remarks to yourself before you say something you regret, hmm~? I'm someone you don't want to anger, after all," she replied coolly, moving ahead of Reimu. "Come along now, girl."
“Wah, so scary.” The miko piped, completely unfazed . “Are you going to…” And she stopped on her tracks.
There, in the grass field near the road they were traveling, was a blonde girl, floating idly in mid-air with her white wings spread in the moonlight.
“Who is that…?” She asked, more to herself than to Yuyuko. Something about her felt familiar, but Reimu couldn’t really remember what.
Yuyuko looked at the blonde girl curiously. "I've never seen her before...is she a new resident?" she thought to herself, taking caution. This girl didn't seem too threatening, but looks could be deceiving.
"Reimu, should we speak to her?"
Reimu nodded and started making her way to the girl without hesitating.
“Hey, you!” She called to the girl. And as she turned towards the miko, she asked with a serious face. “Have we met before?”

Snow piling up, gently piling up on top of each other, reflected against it the early sunshines, those that were somehow so cheerful, so cruel, flopping down one by one as if committing a honorable suicide act lighting up this whole wide world. As honorable, as suicidal, as shining--- as her shadow lying right there.
Simply, just right there.
Someone's voice wept over the back of her sound, the part of her mind that went separated, that went unremembered. The flipping sound of broomstick flailing in the sky. The call of a persistent tengu behind their back.
"I hope we make it home before midnight---"
Each of her footsteps drowned itself in the vast sea of white, weakly struggling against residing, yet still superior darkness. As if the ground under her feet had transformed, had withered, had easily lost itself, vapored into a mass of bubbles that would willingly eat up a pair of limbs that haplessly slipped. She plucked each of her feet off the gripping snow, every single time.
"I'll look forward to your overly salty chicken curry."
As if her legs had turned mad already, as if her body had resigned to be that little hamster, ever spiraling around deep in the arms of fate, yet inside her shoes the stubborn toes, defiant of such future, still desperately clung to the ground, supporting each of her wobbling steps.
"I'll remember it forever, even if everything changes..."
Snowflakes, tiny snowflakes, unmelting snowflakes fell on top of you, the you that kept lying there soundlessly, within an arm's reach from me, yet as if you were already drifting away so very far from us, very far from the me that stayed behind.
Tell me, the me that is alive, are you still here?
As long as the blue flames still flowed in this arm...
"Miss Margatroid, please take caution."
The young mistress, eyes slightly squinted under this cold light, footsteps barely audible amidst this quiet land, whispered to her behind her back. Faint breaths that kept blowing in the back of her ears, telling her to stop. Yet, this moment, she wanted to show the one who she just met, the true person that was awaken.
"I see, if such is your choice, I will assist you."
The smile that appeared on the corner of her lips, faded away under the dark light...
"I see..."
Fluttering, wavering magic spells tainted with impure desires to fight back fate, fluttered and wavered like such fragile wills, glistening like colorful teardrops, like monochrome laughters surrounding what a while ago was the one she loved.
Please, live. Fight back the thing we wished to fight together...
Such light, flickering blue glow, lonely and frail, stood for such hope, quiet circle with certain symbols of the outer worlds, stood for such dream.
Even if the world would simply proceed to eject us.
The essence of her magic that escaped from her, would transcend through the border of life, and would bring back a hope for her loved.
Even if we would have to part way.
Gentle breaths of hers, of the one standing by her side, of the one that used to stand by her side, warmed up the possibilities.
It's all right, always choose to live.
"All is well now, Miss Margatroid. You did well. She would live."
The voice of hers, cold as it was, told nothing but a wish come true.
"As long as this world would allow her... She would live. This cruel, ridiculous, beautiful world."
And that alone, is already enough...
The door hiding all of the palace's sorrow, wearily glid on the raspy ground, as if such creaky sounds were its sole farewell to the one who would soon depart. Their breaths, hers and the one behind her back, mingled into one and the same.
"Do you truly wish to leave so hastily, Miss Margatroid?"
Such picture of her, all bandaged, lying motionlessly surrounded by caring pets, pained with each passing moment.
Because the present had already happened-
"Yes, it would be best if I leave now... Before she woke up."
And her quiet memories of them, filled with sheer joy in the golden afternoon.
and the past had already been shattered-
All the more reasons to protect the future...
"I see. I would inform you should something happen. Please try and keep in touch."
The eyes of that single someone, again, spiraled into the depth of her own eyes. As if words were no longer needed, and no longer enough, in this world that was somehow so cruel, in this fate that somehow was so ridiculous.
"After all of that... I wish you luck on your path then", uncomfortable halt cluttered her own words, "Miss Margatroid".
Behind her shoulder, she still saw the small one, whose hair fluttered like a half-bloomed rose.
"I appreciate your good will"
Nothing but a deep, strong mask for those two both,
"Miss Komeiji."
Until the very end.
Her feet that led her away from the place marked with sorrow and regrets, simply glistened in the golden afternoon.
Tell me, the you that are still here, am I still alive?

Here's a very, very special post, color-coded for your sake.Green --> Daiyousei Blue --> Cirno Red --> FlandreAs always, text between ** are actually BGM links. Sorry for the trouble.
Both the blonde girl and the young vampire stared at each other for a while, none of them uttering a word. The white cat from before was rubbing its head against the blonde girl's arm. The girl put the cat down on the floor. "So... Who are you, miss?" Inside a small building made of wood, on the territory of the Sky Fairies... A blonde fairy, wearing a white dress with an equally-colored hat, with bright pink eyes and big, semi-transparent, white wings looked at some small fairies, who were lying down on very rudimentary beds, completely unconscious and seeming lifeless. "They've been like this for two whole days... Reports from the ones who survived say they were attacked by 'something', and they said something about 'bluish smoke' as well..." the fairy put a hand on her hip and sighed. "Just who or what did this...? And why? Why would they attack Sky Fairies?"
The wooden door behind the blonde fairy opened, and a small, timid, red-haired fairy entered the room. "Um... Ms. Lily? One of the leaders of the Lake Fairies wants to see you... She says it's very urgent."
The herald of spring sighed. "I am really not in a mood to deal with that annoying ice fairy... Please tell Cirno I am very busy at the moment to talk with her. Tell her to come back another day."
"Actually, Ms.Lily... The fairy in question is not Cirno... That fairy has green hair, not blue hair..."
"Green hair...? Why is she...?" the blonde fairy turned around. "I'll be there in a minute. Thank you, Dawn." the red-haired fairy bowed and left the room, closing the door behind her. "Why would Dai want to see me? Perhaps..." Lily turned around to look at the comatose Sky Fairies on the beds. "Perhaps the Lake Fairies, or even Cirno, got attacked as well...?"
"Letty!" the ice fairy shouted with all her strength, calling to the purple-haired lady that was happily looking at a snowman. This made her turn around, and as she saw the fairy, her smile turned into a frown.
"My, if it isn't Ms.Ice Fairy..." the embodiment of winter said, as she watched the ice fairy land in front of her. "May I ask what brings you here?" she crossed her arms. "Actually, nevermind that. You probably just want to fight me again, to prove that you're the strongest." Letty sighed. "Well, can you challenge me another day? I want to enjoy a peaceful winter day for on--"
"No." the ice fairy interrupted Letty, who raised an eyebrow, looking slightly surprised. "I'm not here to fight you. I... I need your help."
"Now this is something new... I would never have expected you to ask help to someone..." the purple-haired snow lady sighed. "Well then, I'm all ears. What is it?"Something was off about that blonde girl, Flan could sense it... She had more important things to do than worry about that girl, though. "... Flan."
The blonde girl tilted her head to a side. "Flan...? So you're named after... food?" she giggled.
"No, of course not!" the young vampire angrily said. "That's just an abbreviation of my name. I'm Flandre." the vampire crossed her arms. "I hope this is over soon..."
"Ah, there we go. That's a more normal name." The blonde girl smiled. "My name is Ellen, and..." she picked up the white cat and petted it. "This little guy here is Sokrates~." Ellen put her cat on the floor again, and the latter walked over to Flan, and started rubbing his face all over her leg. The young scarlet sister looked down and smiled a little. "May I ask what you're doing out here, Ms.Flan? It's rare to see someone who's not a magician walking around the Forest."
Flan pondered for a minute or so. She really wanted to get to that Youkai Mountain place as soon as possible... But this Ellen girl seemed a nice person. And maybe she might know something about the incident. "Well, you see..."The green-haired fairy was waiting besides a wooden house -presumably Lily's house-. The red-haired fairy told her to wait until Lily could come by. While she was doing so, Dai began to worry slightly about Cirno, Flan and Marisa. The ice fairy would probably be stupid enough to get into a fight with someone easily... The vampire could potentially get another emotional outburst, and Marisa... Marisa would probably get into a fight with the ripper, ignoring Dai's advice. The green-haired fairy sighed.
"Worrying for your little ice fairy friend, Dai?" a calm voice rang beside the fairy. She turned around, only to find the herald of spring looking at her, with a smile on her face. Dai lowered her head. "It's fine, don't worry about it. It's normal to worry about those you care about." Lily giggled. "Now, may I ask what brings you here? It's rare for you to visit me."
The great fairy raised her head. "I... I need your help with something very important, Lily. You see...""Oooh... You're working to solve this thing... How did people call it again... the Night Terror Incident?" the young blonde girl said.
"Night... Terror... Incident?" Flandre said, her head tilted to a side, looking slightly confused.
"Yeah, that's what I heard people calling this thing. I thought the whole incident naming thing was normal here on Gensokyo...?""Regardless, I'm sure you didn't come here to tell me that you're solving an incident, Cirno." The embodiment of winter said, her arms crossed. "What did you want to ask me?"
The ice fairy crossed her arms as well and sighed. "It's about what we know about the culprit... Dai was hoping you would be able to tell us something more..." The fairy began explaining what she knew so far."The culprit uses dark magic to steal life energy from its victims...?" Ellen said, while petting her cat. "Yikes, that must mean that this ripper guy must be really serious about this. Dark magic is probably the most lethal type around."
The young scarlet sister rubbed her chin. "You know something about dark magic...?"
The blonde girl shrugged. "Not at all. Well, some general details from magic books and stuff, but I'm no expert on it. Love magic is my field of expertise, sorry."
"Love magic...?" Flandre said, while remembering Marisa's trademark spellcard.
"Yeah, you know. Charms, love potions, stuff like that. I'm no offensive mage. Anyway, what else do you know about the culprit...?""It fears fire, you say...?" Letty giggled. "Guess you two would've been evenly matched, then."
Cirno pouted. "... I froze the fire around the area when we confronted it..."
The snow lady sighed. "That's normal coming from you, yes." She rubbed her chin. "... Actually..""... If the culprit only attacks at night, or in dark places... and it fears fire... Perhaps..."
"Perhaps the culprit fears light...? As in, he doesn't want to be fully seen..?" The green-haired fairy said.
"You catch on quickly." Lily smiled. "You would make a great sprite, Dai." this last statement made the fairy's cheeks turn red.
"S-so... You're saying that maybe we should try to use spellcards that make a lot of light."
"Yeah. It's a good idea, and it could help... Something else you know...?"
"Well..." Dai rubbed her chin. "As far as we know, those who got attacked by the culprit fall asleep for a long time..."
"Fall asleep, you say?" the herald of spring say. "... I see, in that case... Tell me, Dai...""What haunts your nightmares, Cirno?" the snow lady said, a serious look on her face.
"E-eh...?" Cirno looked really confused. "I-I don't fear anything, I'm the strongest! I don't have any nightmares!""But why are you asking this, Lily...?"
"The culprit uses dark magic... And if victims fall into a coma after being attacked...""I'm pretty sure the culprit uses some kind of dark spell that induces nightmares on people. In fact..." the blonde girl said."There's a very high chance that the ripper can manipulate nightmares, and who knows...""Maybe it can even manifest itself as one's biggest nightmare." the herald of spring closed her eyes. "Have you seen it change forms at some point?"
"N-n-not that I think of..." Dai said, slightly trembling."Our biggest fears...?" Flan lowered her head, a tear slowly dropping down to the floor.
"H-hey!" Ellen kneeled down. "Is something the matter, Ms.Flan?"
"No..." the scarlet sister rubbed her tears away. "It's... nothing.""I don't fear anything!" the ice fairy proudly said. "Nightmare manipulation or not, I'm going to beat that thing!"
"Don't be so sure of it." the embodiment of winter said. "There's no way to know what the culprit may pull off on you should you fight it.""I-I see..." Flan took flight. "Anyway, thanks for the help... But I really need to be going now." "Dai." the ascended fairy said, as the green-haired fairy was turning around. "... We fairies live as long as nature exist, but..." Lily had a really sad look on her face. "We still depend on life energy to sustain ourselves. Please. Even if you have spellcards now, this is still too much for you."
"I'll... I'll be fine, don't worry. I have Cirno to protect me, so..."
"... Very well, in that case, you should hurry." The herald of spring lowered her head. "I fear something might've happened while you were here..." The green-haired fairy nodded, and left the area as fast as she could.
Silence.
"What is happening to Gensokyo...?" the herald of spring thought. "At this rate, everyone, fairies, youkai and humans alike will..." she clasped her hands together. "Oh, please, Queen Titania... If you can hear me, please... Please protect us all..."As she was flying away from the human village something caught the curiosity of the ice fairy. A small frog, jumping around, a note attached to its back. She couldn't resist, and went after the frog, in an attempt to freeze it.

“I remember the raps on the door and I wished it was simply someone knocking… but I knew better. Hit after hit, a chorus of people yelling… ‘Witch! She’s a witch!’ I covered my ears like a coward. If I was stronger, nothing like this would have happened. Yet, I cursed them under my breath. ‘Wouldn’t you have done the same for love? Wouldn’t you have gone against everything to regain what you have lost?’”
“Love, huh?” She asked pensively. “Not everyone thinks that’s important. But I get whatcha mean.”
“We’re one and the same, after all.”
“That sounds creepy.”
“It is the truth. For the time being, I suppose.”
“And?”
“They thought I was strong, they saw me as a role model but… I’m nothing but a fake…”
Two silhouettes stood in the middle of nothing, no matter in what direction they looked at, only darkness and little light spots could be seen, and if there was only the sky and the stars, the galaxies peering down on the two that remained sited- the one with gold locks, casually looking towards the sky in front of her with her arms behind her head and another one, covered in the darkness that made the sky look white in comparison.
“Tell me then, the one and same as me, who are you?” The girl tilted her head behind. Something was stopping her from looking towards the other voice and look at the face of the person who was the same has her.
“Who am I…”
“I know who I fought.” The girl with the golden hair sounded serious. “But who are you?”
“I’m… the one who unleashed this on your world…”
The golden haired girl stood up with her hands balled up, the starry sky under her quivering like water, tiny ripples forming as her feet hit the transparent ground under her. “Of course it was you! Isn’t that obvious enough?!” Golden eyes shined menacingly at the other silhouette. “I want to know who you are!” She waved her arms about angrily. “Who the hell are you?!”
The woman in front of her, cowering in her place, hands wrinkled by age between locks of white hair, shook, of fear, of remorse. The woman who she saw being engulfed by flames and guilt alike.
“I… I can’t… I can’t…remember. Not now… not anymore…” Her voice trembled.
Then, that feeling, that anger she didn’t know the origin of got the better of her and she grabbed the woman by the collar of her dress, forcing her to her feet.
“You don’t remember?! Who are you, say it!” The loudness of the blonde paled in comparison to the quietness of the old woman.
“Please… I can’t remember…”
“Because of you my friends were hurt! Because of you people will die!! And you have the guts to forget?! What happened, what is yet to happen, IT’S ALL ON YOU! YOU’RE THE ONE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS!”
“I didn’t want that to happen! I tried to stop it! I didn’t want---“
“But it happened! And it will keep happening!”
“…Everything… everything because I was a coward, because I was weak…” She was no longer talking to the girl in front of her. “God… When did I lose sight of what is important?”
Without her seeing, the golden haired girl got pushed away from the woman by a firm hand and as she looked she saw an image of herself, dressed in dark robes, dark wings and a tail, staring back at her. The creature wrapped her arms around the sobbing woman, there was no warmth in that hug, it was possessiveness. She smiled a long, crooked smile.
“You…!” Marisa snarled at the creature in front of her.
Four words, four words did the woman hopelessly repeat like a mantra as she clenched her hand on her dress. “Kyrie eleison… mea culpa…”
Their reality started to contort and break in front of the girl’s eyes, as if that too was made of glass.
“Why are you doing this!? Who are you trying to save?!” The girl yelled, her voice sounding so far away, as the creature stood there, smirking at her, silently mocking her.
“̒ͯ͋ͪ̓͏İ̒̎̾ͧ͢ ͐͑̂̄f̛oͭ͗̔ͨr͛̎͊̏̎̐ͮ̀g̵ͥͧ̑̆̉͂ǫ͒̊̑͗ͤtͭͣͮ̅̇ͫ ̊ͯͧͭ͝i̧͒ͩ̍̅̆͂̽t̢́̏͂̏͋̚…̷ͪ̈́ ̢̍ͧ͒ͥ̈ȁ̋͛n̢͌̈́͗͗̋d͂͐ͭ͑ͩ̚ ̋̾͑Ǐ͋͊ ͠ŵ̶̅̃̈́̈́͂ȉ̸̓͊̚l͗̓l̵ͫ̂ ̶͛͐̀͂́̒͗fo̐̂̿ͬ̾̚r̃͛̇͑̀̔̍g̋̽̔ͧ͠e̢ͭͬ̌ṫ̈̅̍̓ͮ ̽͗̌t̶̊ḧ̍͑̈́̓̊̇i̢̋͒̚s̨ͦͬ̍͌͗ͤ… ̏ͬͭ̿ͪs͛̒͏ő̡̍ ̎̔̐̉w̷ͦ̑́̂ḯͬ̓͊͒̎ͭ͡l̶̈̿ͫ͑̚l̨ͪ̑ͨͧͭ̓ ̨̉̽ͥ̂̐yͮõ̽̃̍͘ŭ̡̒̋̈̀ͤ̔…̧ ̵e̎͐͌̎ͯͩͧ̕v̍̈́̚e̛ͤ͒ͭ̇r̍̓̉̅y̛̾t̒̔̂͒̽̽̌ȟͣ̚ǐ̛ͬnͥ͡g͒ͪͥ̕…͌̎ ̛̆ͪ͐T͌̾̔̚h̒͗̋̆er͐eͮ͑̐̆̆ͭ’̀šͮͥ ͗ͧ͊̓ͬ̕n̉̋͒́ͮo̿̃t̂͏hi̓̃̊͞nͨͦ̕g̈́͛͒̈́̃̍͡ ̎̿̒̿̉͟w͗e̋͗̎͌̉̊̈ ͬͦ̎c͆́aͦ̇͒̿ņ̒̔ͣ͑ ̚d̓̄̇͊͐͌́oͤ ̒ͥͭaͤ͝b͟ȏ̂͒u̓̅̏͒͘t̸ ͥ͟iͥ̒t̷ͥ͂ͪͩͧͮ̎ ̸̆͂̉b̛u͋̎̌͒ͤ̅͑t͒̏͆̐ͯ̚ ́f̀͋͂ͣ̇ờ̂͊ͭr̨̀̐̌͗͌ͤg͌ͣ̓e̅tͧ͆ͦ̿̒̓̈͡.ͦ̿̂ͯ͡”͆͂̋ The woman concluded, dispirited eyes cast down.
Everything broke down as the girl tried to urge herself to wake up, to return to her own reality, to… stand up and do something, anything!
And outside of her own mind, the real Marisa thrashed around, ragged breaths breaking the silence of the room as sweat trailed down her face and yet she didn’t wake; both her amber eyes and her consciousness refusing to leave the abyss in her mind.

Introducing the naggy and nosy hermit, Kasen Ibaraki. Starring Shadie and Flan.
The hermit’s eyes were closed as she meditated. Discipline was what ruled Kasen Ibaraki’s life. To be strong you need to stay fit, both on the outside and on the inside. ‘A sound mind in a sound body’ as they say. A peaceful quiet only disturbed by a gentle breeze coming from the open window, lulling her into calmness. Or that was what she was expecting it to be, like always, but for some reason the animals in her garden felt restless, she could hear them talk among themselves.
Brows furrowing a bit as she tried to regain her focus, she dismissed the sounds. ‘It’s probably someone passing by…’
The young vampire looked at all the animals around the garden, with a smile on her face. Marisa didn't lie, it seemed. The warmness of the area -at least, compared to the coldness from the Forest of Magic- made Flan feel very comfortable... And somewhat sleepy as well. 'Maybe I can stay here and play a little with all the animals...?' she shook her head. 'No... I have to ask the person who lives here to see if she knows something about the incident...'
The young scarlet sister walked towards the house, slowly. Once she got near enough, she said: "Hello?! Is anyone home?! I'm searching for a naggy and nosy hermit! Marisa sent me here!"
Kasen’s eyes flashed open as she heard a voice, a voice mentioning Marisa. Her hand fell over her face. How in the world had the witch known where her house was located? After the previous two encounters she had made sure to change the location regularly to avoid getting her valuables pilfered by her but it seems she had underestimated the girl. And as if that wasn’t enough, she had shared her location with her friends.
‘It seems Marisa needs one of my especial trainings.’ The hermit thought darkly as she stood up from her place and made her way to the door. ‘Just you wait, I’ll be sure to punish you for calling me naggy and nosy.’
She opened the door and saw a blonde girl wandering about, surrounded by a few of her animals as they hesitated a bit to approach her. The first thing she noticed was the girl’s wings, they were of a strange shape and seemed to be made of small crystals. What an interesting pair of wings.
“Hello.” Kasen started as she approached the girl. “Who might you be?” She asked with a smile. After all, if there was someone to blame for this it was Marisa, not the girl.
The young vampire had her eyes fixated at the woman in front of her. She noticed that the hermit was looking at her wings. Of course. It always happens. 'They aren't that bad... Right...?' Her face lightened as the woman smiled at her. She seemed like a good person. "... Flandre Scarlet. I'm a vampire."
“Hello, Miss Flandre, my name is Kasen Ibaraki. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” She looked at the girl’s wings again. “I can’t say I know a lot of vampires, especially not ones with wings as beautiful as yours.” She smiled and then made a movement with her hand. “Please, come inside, I’ll pour us some tea.”
The scarlet sister looked at her wings, a sad look on her face. 'Beautiful...?' She moved the wings upon and down a few times, the crystals giving off really small, pretty much unnoticiable shines. It's been so long since someone called her wings beautiful... Far too long, actually.
Flan looked back at Kasen, nodded and walked into the house.
A small tiger cub followed Flan and casually entered the house too.
“Where are you going, Basho?” It continued shadowing Flandre to the living room. Kasen smiled. ‘Oh, I see.’ “Please sit down.” She motioned to the kotatsu in the middle of the living room and turned the mini stove on to heat the water. “I know you’re Marisa’s friend but what brings you here?”
Flan sat down near the kotatsu, legs crossed. She turned her head around until seeing the small tiger that followed her inside the house. She stared at it, blinking a few times before turning her head. 'What's up with him...?'
The young vampire lowered her head. "It's about the incident that has been going on lately... Marisa told me to go search for you, Miss Kasen. She thought that maybe you would have some sort of clue."
The cub sat down next to Flandre and growled lightly, staring at her as she talked.
“Incident?” Kasen’s eyes grew bigger. She hadn’t left the mountain for a while and now she was regretting it. The young vampire seemed worried and the hermit got the feeling that it was something serious. Why didn’t Marisa come to her house herself, if that was the case? “Did something happen to Marisa?”
The young vampire's crimson eyes drifted back to the tiger. 'What does it want...?' she looked back at Kasen. "Marisa... She got attacked by this ripper guy and... She has this weird symbol on her neck. And according to Dai..." Flan stopped talking for a minute. "According to her that symbol is slowly draining Marisa's life energy..."
“W-wait, ‘the symbol is draining Marisa’s life energy’? ‘Ripper’?” It seemed like she had missed a lot of what had happened. “My apologies but I’ve been here for a while, I don’t know anything about the Incident. Can you tell me everything you know?”
Flan nodded and began to tell what little she knew, starting from when she saw Marisa, and ending with her conversation with Ellen in the Forest of Magic, but omitting details such as her fight with the fairies.
Kasen crossed her arms, her face a mix between seriousness and worry. “’Nightmares’… you say…” And without Flandre asking anything. “A long, long time ago, a god named Shinki created Makai. Along with that she created all the first residents of that world. It became one dedicated to demons. As the news spread, other demons entered the place, hoping to live in a world where they weren’t shunned by humans. Inevitably, the Dark Arts started to be practiced there, and while Shinki didn’t stop it, she was attentive to what kind of magic was being used by the residents. There were two, however, that she deemed too wretched to be practiced there: necromancy and oneirokinesis, dream manipulation, and she banished them, along with everyone that used them.” She looked at Flandre. “You see, what those two forms of magic entitle is too despicable.”
"So that would mean... That the culprit is one of those people who got banished from that Makai place...?" Flandre rubbed her chin. "And... What exactly makes those types of magic so bad?"
“There’s an ancient culture from the outside that believed there were personifications of dreams, the Oneroi; dream spirits in human form with big, feathered dark wings. They were the sons of Nyx, the night, and they had three brothers…” She closed her eyes. “Hypnoss, sleep; Geras, old age and… Thanatos, death.” Her eyes fell on the vampire again. “Dreams and nightmares, they are a step away from death. When we’re sleeping we are vulnerable and I mean it on a spiritual sense. The border that separates both is small enough to the point where both are considered brothers. Having the power to manipulate and enter people’s dreams, to use them against their owners, is few steps away from being able to send them into an endless sleep. Or worse, kill someone in their sleep without even needing to be physically present as you can directly attack their subconscious and effectively kill someone’s mind.”
The vampire shook her head. "I'm sorry, but I think I got some what lost... So basically, someone who can manipulate dreams could kill someone without being there...? ... Ellen did mention victims being in a coma..." Flandre crossed her arms. "Could the culprit be one of these Oneroi things...?" she looked at the hermit, her crimson eyes staring without blinking even once. "What about Marisa's sigil...? As far as I know, she's the only one who has it... Is that related to those Oneroi things as well..?"
“Yes, they could kill them. The easiest way would be to attack the subconscious and kill someone’s ego. If you destroy someone’s mind you’ll only end up with an empty shell. It’s akin to destroying someone’s soul. However, history does mention that some practitioners had the power to inflict wounds in the dream world and transfer them to the wake world. The Oneroi themselves are but legends… then again, the same can be said about youkai. In Gensokyo, if one believes in something enough that something will acquire its own existence, in other words, that much is possible, even if unlikely.” Putting a hand on her chin, Kasen looked at Flandre. “As for Marisa, I’m not sure. I would need to look at the sigil, but admittedly I’m not an expert when it comes to the Dark Arts. But if the sigil didn’t disappear like everyone else’s, then I’m guessing something stopped the ripper from finishing the ritual properly, thus creating an anomaly.”
The tiger cub finally decided to nest on Flandre’s lap, Kasen observed the scene while she talked. “We might have to talk with Byakuren again, taking Marisa to the Myouren temple should be our priority.”
The young vampire looked at the tiger, before quickly turning back to Kasen. "I guess so, but... I don't have any idea of where Marisa might be... I doubt she stayed in her house..."
“Well, I guess we’ll have to find out where she is and then drag her to the temple if we need to.”
The room went quiet and the hermit stared at the cub, her head resting on her hand, and then looked at the girl’s red orbs. “’This girl seems sad. I wonder why she’s sad? Her heart is so colorful so I wonder, I wonder why it looks so dark. I don’t want it to be dark.’ Is what he’s saying.” Kasen smiled warmly. “Animals can sense things well beyond what we can. This little guy seems to have taken a liking to you. ”
The young vampire looked at the cub, silently. She raised her hand slightly and began to slowly pet him. "... I've been locked up in a basement for several hundred years, due to me not being able to control my powers... ... Before me and my sister came to Gensokyo, my fellow vampires despised me because I didn't look like a normal vampire would. My mother died after giving birth to me and everyone has always blamed for it." she lowered her head. "I ended up killing my own father accidentally, out of frustration..."
The scarlet sister stayed silent for a minute before rubbing off her tears. "... So you can understand what animals are saying? That's really cool."
The hermit silently listened to Flandre’s story, her expression unchanging.
“We all do things we regret. The sin in doing that kind of actions is only as big as your lack of understanding that it was wrong to do them.” She grabbed the tea and placed a cup in front of Flandre, pouring the liquid inside it. “Being locked away isn’t the right way to solve the problem, only to avoid thinking about it. I can help you learn how to control your powers, if you want.”
Kasen sat down observing the vampire with a smile on her face. “And thank you.” She looked at the tiger. “I love animals, they are easy to understand if we are willing to hear their words. More so than other people, even if most don’t agree with me.”
The young scarlet sister stopped petting the tiger and drank from her cup of tea. "I would really be thankful if you did it... Perhaps if I manage to control my powers my sister would stop hating me." she stopped talking and took another sip of the tea. "Regardless... I should probably go and search for Marisa before the sun shows up again. Do you perhaps have any idea of where she might be...?"
“She’s usually at Reimu’s.” She put her hand on her chin. “Allow me to go with you.” The hermit stood up. “That way I’ll be able to help you search for her and observe your powers. Also, if this is as serious as it sounds, those two will need all the help they can get.”
Flandre finished drinking her tea. "Yeah, sure. I don't really mind." she cautiously moved the tiger's head off her lap and stood up. She walked towards the exit.
Kasen made her way to the exit when she heard a growl behind her, she turned her head to the little cub on the ground. “Yes, yes, I get it.” She scratched the back of her head and put him on her shoulder. She closed the door and whistled. A gigantic eagle landed next to them and she mounted it. “Let’s go.”

Gengetsu
The moonlight demon could hear voices from a distance talking amongst themselves; She had extrasensory hearing, so she was able to pick up on what was being discussed. Although a bit annoyed at the fact that someone was coming toward this area, the pieces of conversation she picked up just barely caught her interest. "The ripper..." The demon put on a bit of a smirk. Seems as though Gensokyo is as lively as ever, especially nowadays. No one in this generation knew her, and she didn't know them, but it was the fact that everything in Gensokyo regarding events and changes in society immediately go from area to area around here. Gengetsu could hear talk of these individuals plan to take down someone by the name of "Komachi" and the talk of culprits and villagers not being normal sounded like some sort of mysterious situation. Although to the misinterpretation of an angel such as herself, Gengetsu grinned in pleasure at the thought of suffering. The voices began to become more louder as they would come closer and closer. Gengetsu had her back to them, but continued to look up to the full moon, her yellow eyes not even flinching at the nearest firefly that tried to distract her vision. From what the demon could gather from the information so far heard, it would seem as though something around Gensokyo is targeting humans and youkai alike with (perhaps) intentions to leave their mark on this world, literally. "Who is that...?" "I've never seen her before...is she a new resident..?"
The demon grinned wickedly. The thought that someone would genuinely think that someone such as herself was a new resident to Gensokyo, almost wanted to make her actually laugh. They have no idea that she was responsible for the disappearances of several Makai demons that were born from seedlings that the Goddess of Makai, Shinki planted. Little do they also know that herself and her sister Mugetsu are powerful enough to the point where they have escaped imprisonment twice, not to mention many other conniving acts. It had been some time since anyone other than her sister actually saw her. Shinki and Yumeko seem to have disappeared or otherwise by now they would have been confronted and faced with another battle between the Queen of Makai and possible successor. So many years have passed, and as they have, Gengetsu, alongside her sister Mugetsu, have become three times stronger then what they once were during the events in which they were defeated by someone who resembled a shrine maiden and another who resembled a witch. "Reimu, should we speak to her?"
Gengetsu remained silent, her eyes sharply going from the moon, to the side of her, almost instantly. She did not blink, and her wings would continue to silently pick up moonlight energy which would ultimately make her even more stronger as the time went by. “Hey, you!.....“Have we met before?” The moonlight demon lowered her eyes just for a moment in suspicion. Who could remember a demon as old as her in this life time..? The only individuals who could have remembered her were Shinki and Yumeko, who have long disappeared and the two beings that were responsible for attacking her and her sister ages ago, but by now, they should have passed away on their own. They were only humans...from what the demon knew.
*** (Time in Makai, especially when Gengetsu and Mugetsu were locked up in their backstory, seems longer to them, then what time means to others in Gensokyo. Gengetsu may see the time now, different to the way Reimu sees it basically.) ***
Gengetsu turned around, a shadow cast upon her face, piercing yellow eyes moved their way up without any emotion to see who spoke.
"........!?"
The moonlight angel did not speak. She seemed just an inch surprised, but lowered her surprise and turned that into carelessness. If they planned to do anything, Gengetsu would react much faster then them. Attacking her at this hour would be extremely dangerous. The demon thought to herself piece by piece..
".....Thousands of years...." "....how...can it be..." "...It still lives..?"
She then looked over to a woman dressed in a pale blue outfit, who seemed to resemble someone that could possibly be in charge of different kinds of apparitions. Her eyes looked over to the pink haired woman only for a moment, to glance back at person in front. The person in front...was the same person that confronted her (calculating by her own time) a hundred thousand years ago when they intruded Makai. That...unknown shrine maiden. Gengetsu floated, her blonde hair blowing vigorously in the wind. Those large, white wings continued to flap as well, feathers of such wicked grace falling down to the ground and de-materializing into the ground, sinking into the soil, never to be seen again. The bottom of her dress swirled all around in the wind, her mary janes holding on to her feet as they levitated carelessly. Gengetsu did not answer the girls question, nor did she say anything in response at all. For now, all she would do is express no emotion in her facial expression, keeping her hands to her sides as they hanged. Her yellow eyes locked on to the shrine maiden, not blinking or changing focus. Whatever these strangers were doing here, they should continue forth. The moonlight demon is not a part of anyones games, schemes or petty talk. She is only here for one thing, herself.

DM post collab with ZM once again~
Reimu stared at the girl with semi-closed, annoyed eyes as she got nothing but silence in response to her questions.
“Hey, did the nekomata get your tongue or are you deaf?” One could sense the miko’s annoyance increasing.
Yuyuko glared slightly as the shrine maiden. "Don't be rude, Reimu," she scolded. "There are better ways to handle interactions than needless conflict."
The shrine maiden turned at Yuyuko, a serious expression on her face, she approached the woman and whispered. “I’m telling you, she is trouble. No matter how you look at it she’s a demon, you can feel it too, right?” She looked at the silent blonde through the corner of her eyes. “I’ve seen her before… I can’t remember where…”
Yuyuko peered over at the blonde girl. Although the girl at first glance didn't seem very intimidating, she presented an aura that was rather...unsettling. The way she gazed at her and Reimu was starting to grow concerning after every second.
Looking back to Reimu, she lowered her voice to a whisper. "What do you think we should do? Just slip by and ignore the girl?"
Without taking her eyes from the girl, Reimu balled her hands.
“Something tells me I’m going to regret my decision… but for now we should just continue our way. People’s lives are at stake and this is the only theory I have at the moment. However…” Reimu eyed Yuyuko. “Can’t you send one of your ghosts to keep an eye on her, just in case?”
Yuyuko nodded and turned around, waving her hand so a mini ghost-butterfly appeared on her palm. "Reimu, do me a favor and distract that girl, okay?" she requested.
Turning on her heels, she approached the blonde again and with a menacing look on her face, she said: “I can’t remember who you are exactly or where I last saw your face, but let me give you a warning: I know you’re a demon, try anything funny and I will exterminate you without hesitation. Go back to the place you came or there won’t be a third time we cross paths.”
Yuyuko frowned at Reimu's scathing words toward the girl, but it was helping her fabricate a lookout, so she would let it slide. "Alright little friend, I need you to keep an eye on this girl. If something were to happen to you, I'd know exactly the moment it happens," she said as she began to smile a little, letting the otherworldly creature free.
The butterfly flew behind a nearby bush and sat on one of the branches, Reimu and the blonde girl sight. It made sure to keep itself hidden as well as it could.
After eying the demon again, Reimu turned away and resumed her walk to the Sanzu River, always attentive for possible sneak attacks.
Yuyuko followed after Reimu, giving the girl an attentive look before moving right along behind the miko. She hoped the butterfly she left behind would serve its purpose when needed, but she also wanted it to remain safe from harm.
Though for now, the rendezvous with Komachi is the next event for the ghost to observe.

Nick and I beasting it up
As she made her way down the hallways of Eientei, Sanae soon stopped in front of two large doors. She figured that behind these ornate doors would be where Eirin would be located, as Reisen didn't give her any specifics. Pressing her hands against the doors, the green-haired girl mustered up her courage and opened them.
As the door opened, the gleaming light of the moon spilled into the corridor, illuminating the wooden walls with a crepuscular shine. The importance of the area immediately dawned on Sanae, and she knew this must be the right place. Taking a small breath, she started to walk forward...
"...Why are you going into our courtyard? It's hardly a time for that kind of relaxation, you know..." a voice from behind asked, the tone giving away an obvious amused tone.
Startled, Sanae have a slight jump as she let out a small yelp. Turning around, she was greeted by none other than Eirin Yagokoro.
"O-oh, there you are, Yagokoro-san," she replied, calming herself down and straightening herself, not wanting to embarrass herself further. "I was looking for you."
Eirin chuckled to herself. ‘No one seems to have the decency to schedule an appointment these days’, she thought to herself, already anticipating how this conversation would go. ‘And there I was before all this, getting rather bored of the routine.”
Smiling at Sanae, she replied “Ah, of course, on errands for Kanako then? How cold of her, to send an apprentice. She owes me a drink…”
"I don't mean to intrude, but Lady Kanako sent me here so I could ask you about your thoughts on this incident. I-I'll try to leave as soon as I can,". Sanae informed her, a creeping feeling of nervousness coursing through her.
After all, she was talking to one of the most powerful figures in Gensokyo one on one. She REALLY didn't want to say or do something stupid.
“Of course, I’m here to help, after all.” Eirin replied, rather used to this topic by now. “Do you have anything specific in mind?”
Beneath her outward manner, Eirin was dismayed to see the Moriya Shrine maiden asking about the incident. Too many people were getting involved for her liking.
"Well, what do you know about it...? Lady Kanako figured that you potentially no quite a bit. We barely have any leads...even after I was attacked..." Sanae said, trailing off a little at the end of her explanation.
Eirin frowned. "Hm, this could take quite some time, if you really know only that much. How about you fill me in with what you already know, and I can build from that?"
Sighing quietly, Sanae looked seriously at Eirin. "Lady Kanako and I were investigating the home of a recently attacked villager only a few hours ago. While I was alone, I got trapped inside of a room with an imposter of Lady Kanako."
The shrine maiden then looked down. "She said...rather cruel things to me...she said words that I fear even thinking about...the thought of failing her and Lady Suwako...what a taboo possibility...and yet that imposter deemed me a failure...a pathetic excuse for a shrine maiden..."
Sanae looked back up, fighting back unshed tears. "I was eventually saved by the real Lady Kanako, and the imposter disappeared in an instant. Though any trace of them vanished along with them...now we're in this current situation with barely any leads..."
Eirin listened patiently while Sanae talked, writing a few things down. Finally, once Sanae had finished, she thought in silence for a few minutes. Finally, she said “I’m sorry you had to go through that experience. Be comforted in knowing that neither Kanako nor Suwako would ever think of you that way.”
Taking another moment for Sanae to regain some composure, Eirin then continued. “Now, then, on to business. What you have told me seems to match up with the other accounts I have heard of. Shapeshifting, taunting. You’re lucky you didn’t get a first-hand demonstration of its offensive magic…”
“So, is that really all you have to go on?” Eirin narrowed her eyes. “There’s nothing that Kanako has told you about it?”
Sanae shook her head. "Lady Kanako told me she was going to visit Byakuren at her temple, but that's really all."
Eirin sighed. “Alright, I believe you. In any case, the information you seem to be missing is, in sum: One. That the ‘ripper’ uses a very old magic of some kind, of which I know little about. Two. That it feeds off of the life energy of people, youkai, and others alike. Three. While you may know of the mark It leaves, it seems to have… evolved past that. Now all it requires is a sigil. Four. You may already have a hint at this, but it is absurdly dangerous. It has incapacitated powerful combatants such as Keine Kamishirasawa and Marisa Kirisame, the former of which is in critical condition her in Eientei. Five. As hinted at earlier, it is gaining power. What is a challenge now may be impossible later. Time is very much of the essence.”
Sanae's eyes widened at the information Eirin told her without skipping a beat. She truly is a genius. "S-Sorry for missing anything crucial," she stuttered a little. "Though I'm glad I know more about this 'ripper'. Thank you, Yagokoro-san."
"Of course. Now, in return, I would like you to let me know if you figure anything out. Does that seem fair to you?"
"Very fair," Sanae agreed. "I'll inform you of anything I discover from now on."
"Thank you very much." Eirin concluded, content with how the conversation went. "Before you go, may I ask what you intend to do next?"
"I...I don't know exactly. I suppose get Utsuho-san and go back to investigating," she replied, not even sure if she was going to do just that.
"Well, don't push yourself too hard." Eirin said, starting to walk into the courtyard, whose doors had remained open. "Oh, and watch your step on the way out. I hear there was a bit of an accident up there..."
Sanae's face turned red. "I-I'll pay for the damages soon!" she said quickly as she sped past Eirin as she began to leave the area. "Thanks for everything, Yagokoro-san!"
Eirin watched Sanae dash off, her countenance changing to it's worried state as soon as her back was turned. Once the green shrine maiden was out of sight, she turned around and strolled into the courtyard area, taking in the rays of moonlight that shone all around her, afraid she might have to intervene more directly should something happen.

Collab with ZM. #GreenHairAlliance
Sanae sighed as she exited the bamboo forest, shaking her head. Utsuho was nowhere in sight after she left Eientei, though she figured she went along with Reisen and that Mokou girl to wherever they said they were going to go. "I'll meet up with Okuu later," she thought to herself. As she continued on her way, her yellow eyes widened a little as she noticed a small creature jumping over to her quickly. "Is that...a frog?" she said aloud in wonder, hurrying over to it. As soon as the small frog took a leap towards Sanae, a white, cold beam came out from behind a tree. The beam hit the frog, literally freezing it on midair. The frozen block in which the frog was stuck inside fell to the floor with a loud thud, but without breaking. A voice came from behind the trees. "Haha! I got it!" A small ice fairy came from where the ice beam was fired, running -or actually, flying- over to the frozen frog and picking it. "You can't escape from the strongest person in Gensokyo, you little frog!" "..." Sanae went up behind Cirno and poked her on the shoulder. "Hey. Miss Fairy," she said bluntly. The ice fairy turned around to look at the shrine maiden. "Huh? Do you want something from me?" "Unthaw that frog right now, please," Sanae asked calmly. "I need to take a look at it. I didn't expect for you to come out of nowhere and cause harm to it, and I want you to fix your act." The ice fairy tilted her head. "Huh? Unthaw it?" She dropped the frog and crossed her arms. "Are you stupid or something? I can't do that, I'm an ice fairy!" The shrine maiden began to get frustrated. "You're really rude, you know that? And the stupid one here is not I," she relied cooly, picking up the block of ice. "Take a look in a mirror before you judge people, Miss Fairy. Now if you excuse me, I'll be on my way." An ice beam flew past Sanae, grazing her head. "Hey. I remember you now. You're that weird girl that was searching for the Daidarabotchi!" Cirno took out an ice sword. "I still haven't got revenge on you for defeating me back then! And besides! I'm not an idiot, I'm the strongest in Gensokyo!" Sanae sighed and set the frog down in a safe area, her goal being to put Cirno in her place. Whipping out her gohei, she glared daggers at the ice fairy. "It was the Hisoutensoku," she corrected harshly. "And if it's a battle you want, it's a battle you'll get. You've REALLY annoyed me now." The ice fairy pointed her sword at Sanae. "Bring it, idiot! I'll beat you down this time!"
Cirno took out a spellcard. " Ice Sign [Frost Columns]!" she slammed her free hand against the floor, and ice pillars raised from it and went towards Sanae. Sanae dodged to the side and fished through her skirt pockets for her own spellcards. " Damn, I should've been more prepared..." she scolded herself, taking one out. " I didn't expect myself to get into a battle, but...ugh, this is troublesome." " Prayer [Charm of Good Commerce]!" Waving her gohei, Sanae pointed with it in Cirno's direction as a barrage of cards proceeded to hurdle toward her at an alarming rate. Cirno waved her arms in panic as she started to dodge as fast as she could the incoming amulets. She still got hit by most of them. "T-that was nothing! You just surprised me since you didn't use that before! Ice Sign [Icicle Machine Gun]!" the ice fairy shot a big barrage of fast-travelling icicles like a machine gun. Sanae widened her eyes as she shielded her face from the incoming icicles, the icy hazards striking her right after. "Owie..." she muttered, taking out another spellcard. "You little... Esoterica [Forgotten Ritual]!" A large star began to appear around Sanae before she directed it at Cirno, letting it loose. Cirno casted an ice barrier to protect herself from the lasers, but it quickly broke. "Agh dammit! I forgot it doesn't work on lasers!" instead, she resorted to running away from the attack, while firing icicles at Sanae. Sanae gave chase, doing her best to dodge the icicles on the way. Approaching Cirno, she fired out a mini star at the ice fairy's back. " Rainbow Mist [Curtain Squall]!" A voice rang, and lasers fell around Sanae, without even grazing her. It seemed it was a warning shot. Soon enough, a green-haired fairy came into the area, standing between the ice fairy and the shrine maiden. "What's going on here?!" she had a spellcard ready, and she seemed somewhat angry. Sanae glared at the new fairy who appeared, but kept her cool. "You're friends with this fairy, right?" she asked with a bit of a demanding tone. "She froze a frog that was in its way to me and then proceeded to start this battle." The great fairy glared at Cirno. "Apologize to her, Cirno..." The ice fairy pouted and looked away from the shrine maiden. "Sorry." Dai sighed. "I apologize for Cirno being like this, really... She has been scolded by that frog goddess before, but it seems she never learns..." she bowed. "I'm sorry." the green-haired fairy turned around. "Now, Cirno. Let's see if we can find Marisa and Flan. We have to see what each of us learned about the ripper..." "Wait," Sanae spoke up. "The ripper? You two are investigating as well?" The green-haired fairy turned around once more. "Uh... Yeah... We're helping Marisa with the investigation..." she lowered her head. "A fairy friend of us got attacked you see... I take you're also investigating this incident, Miss....?" Sanae nodded. "I was attacked, as well, but one of my goddesses saved me before it got worse," she explained. She moved to pick up the block of ice that had the frog frozen inside, looking down at it. "I have a feeling this frog is a messenger from my other goddess...she must be wanting to check up on me. Sigh...things are a mess right now, plain and simple." "W-wait..." Cirno's face turned slightly pale. "You mean that that frog was sent by the creepy girl with that weird hat that has those creepy snakes that..." the ice fairy gulped. The green-haired fairy facepalmed. "Wait... You said you got attacked as well?" she flew close to Sanae. "If it's not much trouble... May I ask what happened...? An ascended fairy gave me a theory about the ripper, and maybe you can help us confirm if it's true..." "When I was attacked, I was trapped inside in a room of a home which was owned by one of the more recent victims of the Human Village. An imposter of Lady Kanako appeared and said very scathing words to me," Sanae explained, sighing quietly. "My greatest fear is failing her and Lady Suwako, and the imposter made me hear about how much of a failure I am...I broke down in tears before the real Lady Kanako appeared. The imposter then disappeared." The fairy's hand toyed with the yellow bow on her outfit while she listened to Sanae's explanation. "Then... ... I guess Lily was right." she crossed her arms. "The theory was... That the ripper is somehow able to read someone's nightmares and use them against its target... In fact... Chances are it can provoke nightmares on people and manipulate them... I'm guessing that that imposter that appeared in front of you was made by the ripper in order to catch off guard and attack you, basing it on what torments your nightmares." she lowered her head. "Chances are, if you hadn't been saved, you would probably have suffered the same fate as Sunny and Rumia did..." "As in, she would've been dead?" the ice fairy said, arms crossed behind her head. The word 'tact' was not in her dictionary it seemed. Sanae closed her eyes. "The ripper would wait until I was at my most vulnerable before fatally harming me," she concluded. "Thankfully that didn't occur." "May... May I ask what else do you know about the ripper...?" Dai said, still toying with her bow. "Any information would be very useful..." Sanae began to think back on the words Eirin told her. "Well...the magic it uses is very ancient...but it's yet to be determined...it feeds off the life energy of anyone it comes across no matter what species they are. All it requires is a sigil now, so it seems to be evolving. It's very, very dangerous and it's growing stronger as we speak...we need to end this crisis." The shrine maiden sighed again, turning around. "I don't know where I'll head next..." The green-haired fairy sighed. "So basically, you know the same as we do... We should just go and search for someone who uses dark magic... But who does that in Gensokyo...?" "Hey." Cirno said. "Didn't Ms.Weird Colored Hair said something about necromancy? Isn't that related to zombies and stuff...?" "It still doesn't help, unless..." Dai turned to Sanae. "I remember seeing you in the newspapers, you're an incident resolver... Don't you know of someone who uses necromancy on a daily basis, maybe...?" "Ah..." Sanae began to think. "Well...there was that one woman...Seiga Kaku. She uses magic on the dead all the time. If this is the case...we should pay her a visit." "Seiga Kaku, huh...?" the great fairy nodded. "Well, it's the best we have... We might get some information out of her... I'm sure Marisa and Flan will be fine by themselves... I hope." Dai took flight. "Can you lead the way, Ms. Shrine Maiden?" Sanae smiled a little. "Alright, follow me," she said, flying up into the air with the frog tucked under her arm. "Having some company will be nice. I was starting to get lonely." Dai looked at the frozen frog and put her hand near it. A small fireball formed on her palm, and due to the heat, the ice around the frog began to slowly melt. The fairy was careful enough to not burn Sanae's arm in the process. Soon enough, the frog was croaking, having been freed from its ice prison. Sanae looked down in surprise, and then smiled at Daiyousei. "Thank you, Miss Fairy," she replied gratefully, holding the frog in her hands. She noticed a note tied around its neck and removed it, opening the parchment of paper. The green-haired fairy smiled. "It's no problem. And it's Daiyousei, not Miss Fairy." Dai flew over Sanae slightly, enough to read the note over her shoulder. She couldn't lie, she was slightly curious at what the note said. "Ah, and I'm Sanae Kochiya. Pleased to make your acquaintance," the green-haired shrine maiden replied as she looked at Dai before turning her attention back to the note. "Lady Suwako here is quite concerned about my well-being. Well I'm quite fine as of now. I think I'll make a quick stop at my shrine when I have time." Tucking the frog snugly in her skirt pocket, she looked over at Cirno and Dai. "Ready to depart?" The ice fairy rolled her eyes. "Sure..." On the other hand, the green-haired fairy nodded.

Collab with Relick, Enjoy the NOT OTP! (Although it may become one.)
Last time on the roleplay, Seija finally got out of her pericidement with the assistance of Yuuka, the two flew off with a unknown destination. That unknown destination being the entrance to the underground.
"So, Yuuka? What does the underground smell like?" Seija broke the awkward silence. "Hmm, think about the most sweet flowers you've ever smelled..." She paused for a second "Basically, nothing like that." "I never sniff flowers." Her voice returns to a mutter. "Because they make me sneeze..."
"Ah, that's a shame. Flowers have some of the most exotic and beautiful smells in the world. They also look wonderful, too." Yuuka wondered if it was worth making conversation to someone who would invert everything they think. A few more seconds of silence and it was Yuuka’s turn to break the silence. "Is there anything you.. dislike, Seija?" "I dislike the things you like." She smiled greatly, her eyes making contact with flowers.
"It's a good thing I'm kinda getting to like you now, then. Means you'll leave eventually." The pair could see the place they were headed in the distance, geyser spray scattering the sunlight into sparkling particles of colour. "What a great sight it is... Too bad we won't be going into the springs today..." "It is a shame. I could really use with a wash after flying around so much. Too many bugs in my hair." Yuuka scratched her head, feeling for bugs.
"I do find it is nice to bathe in the springs during the Winter, though. A refreshing feeling." "If only the person in question had the idea to fight in the hot springs..." She looked down at the specks of landscape beneath her, before muttering again "Then again, it's not like the creature understands the idea of water..." "Hey Yuuka, I've been wondering for a while now, when you encounter this beast, do you have any sort of plan to deal with it?" "My objective is to befriend or subdue the beast. How I'll do that, well it'll be improvised when it happens. More fun that way!" "I thought you were going to say..." She cleared her throat before attempting to do a horrendous imitation of Yuuka's voice. "Screw everything and spark the thing to death!"
"Oh, I see, so this was just a setup to a terrible joke. You should be glad we're pretty much there, now, otherwise I would be removing your limbs." "No, it wasn't a joke, I was just thinking, don't you have a spark spell and didn't a certain someone "borrow" it?" Yuuka ignored her, and landed in the snow. There was no sign of anybody being there, aside from the kasha she'd visited before laying in the snow, seemingly sleeping. Seija landed a few seconds later, looking around, her body behaviour suggested she was on edge. Yuuka began walking over to the cat-girl, she noticed a large patch of blood in the snow beside her, as well as imprints in the snow which could have been made by bodies. However, the snow in the general area had been heavily disturbed, and the snow falling during the day had filled some of the spaces. She poked the sleeping kasha, trying to wake her. "Who's this?" Seija looked at the disturbed snow, wondering what happened.
"This is someone who cleans up after me. A kasha, known as Orin. I wish I knew her full name, but she doesn't like it." At that moment a loud purr was heard from the girl. She rolled over, opened her eyes and stretched. Yuuka bent down and looked over her. "Hey there, Orin. Have a nice nap?" "....nyaaa... What..?" "I've got some bodies for you." Rin shot up, and looked around, almost desperately. "Wait, where are they?" Yuuka laughed, "Just kidding, it woke you up, though." "What a twisted sense of humour you have..." Seija muttered, hoping that Yuuka ignores it. "So, what are you doing?" Rin looked up, and half-squinted at Yuuka, "Ya know, when you hit me, it really hurt!" "I'll do it again if you don't co-operate." She grumbled, "I guess I don't have a choice, then. I'm here because I was keeping... uh..." She looked around, "I was keeping Marisa Kirisame warm but she seems to have disappeared while I was asleep." "Marisa? Why was she bleeding?" "She was attacked by some creature. She managed to drive them away, but she was left unconscious." "A creature? Is it this thing known as the Ripper?" "Yes, that thing!" "Do you know where it went?" "Ah.. no. It just dematerialised on the spot after the fight." Yuuka became frustrated at the lack of information, "We need to find Marisa, then. She will probably know more than you do. By the way, you shouldn't sleep so much in the open. It leaves you vulnerable." "And don't sleep in the snow..." Seija looked at Rin, sighing loudly. Peter: Yuuka looked at the floor around where Rin was sitting. It seemed the body had been dragged a bit, and then picked up. There were footprints heading towards the entrance of the underground. "The snow suggests whoever took Marisa went underground. Orin, are you coming with us?" "I was going to head back to Chireiden anyway, and that's probably the first place you'll want to look. I'll lead the way." "Chireiden? Ugh, that means I have to deal with the satori again." Rin considered defending Satori, but remembered who it was making the comment and decided against it. "Well, back to the underground again... Actually, this is my first time going underground, my original plan of escaping underground went awry after the hunt..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As the party arrived at the gate of the underground palace, Rin turned to the other two, "Here we are. If you two follow me in we'll go straight to Satori-sama."
"...Can I just stay outside Satori's room?" Seija glared at Rin, her eyes were darting left and right. "Hmm... she does make people feel uncomfortable. I'm sure she wouldn't mind too much; just remember she can sense what you're thinking through even brick wall!"
"Ughh..."
Rin led them in, taking the first corridor on the left, turning round a bend, left again at the split in the hallway and then a door on the right. She opened the door slowly, "Satori-sama, you in here?" Inside was Satori sitting at her desk, and Marisa laying on a bed at the side of the room. "Come in, Orin."
Rin turned to Seija, "You can stand outside, now, if you like." Seija followed closely behind, completely ignoring Rin's comment and walking into the room, her paranoid gaze was darting directly at Satori. Satori spoke again, before Yuuka had a chance to make a comment, "Orin, you should not have brought these people here on the basis of a threat. I know you're better than that." She turned to Yuuka and spoke with a hint of sarcasm, "Marisa was brought here by our mutual friend Alice. She left Chireiden before you arrived." Finally she turned to Seija, but said nothing, trying to wrap her head around her constantly changing thoughts. Yuuka replied, "Hm. Do you have any idea when Marisa will wake up?" "Sadly, I'm no doctor. Alice healed up her wounds so it is just a matter of time before she makes a full recovery." Satori then had a thought. She stood up, and walked over to Marisa. "Yuuka, I want you to take a look at this sigil on Marisa's neck." Seija began a slow walk towards Satori and spoke softly "...You can read my thoughts, can't you." "Yes, Seija. However, due to the nature of your powers I struggle to pinpoint most thoughts, since you almost immediately start thinking the opposite." "Oh, I'd thought that your ability would be able to understand my backwards way of thinking, I guess not." She smiled greatly for a mysterious reason.
"Your memories are not affected by your reverse power, though. I can see your past actions, decisions, motives. Nobody is truly safe from my third eye!" Satori was slightly smug about her power, but she suddenly became shocked "Ah?! Flowers?" Yuuka looked at her with a grin, "Don't brag about your power when you don't know its limits." Yuuka threw a smug grin at Satori.
Satori became worried. She lived her life safe in the knowledge of what everyone around her thought - and now potentially the most dangerous youkai she had met was resisting her mind-reading; and winning. "How can your mind just be full of flowers?!" "Aren't flowers wonderful? Now, let's look at this sigil." Yuuka tilted Marisa's head around until she saw the symbol glowing on her neck. The glow was weak, but the lines were clear. Yuuka recognised the magic being used, and had a good idea about where it may have come from. Satori realised that Yuuka was not clouding her mind with flowers to merely make the point that her power was not as strong as she thought it was, but also to hide whatever she learned from the sigil. This opportunity of Yuuka arriving at Chireiden at the same time as Marisa was perfect for learning as much as possible about the Ripper, yet Satori now had an extra hurdle to jump; coupled with the problem that Yuuka was probably going to leave as quickly as she had arrived. Convincing her of co-operation would not be easy. Yuuka interrupted Satori's line of thought, "I think I'll stay for a bit, I want to speak to Marisa when she wakes up. I imagine you wouldn't want me sitting around in your office, Satori, so I'll go and explore the hallways." "Oh.. o-okay." Visibly rattled by being unable to read Yuuka's mind, she went and sat down. Rin opened the door, and Yuuka walked out. "I guess I'm staying here then..." Seija looked at the crowd walking away. "I didn't know that Chireiden was a makeshift hospital."
Elly and Kurumi introduction post, collab between me and Zig.Elly stood inside the lobby of Mugenkan, looking out the window. It had been many years since she had spoken to anyone, and she’d nearly read all of the books in the mansion’s library. Admittedly, there was not a large collection; Yuuka rarely read anything, so the only books filling the shelves were ones she needed, rather than wanted, to read. It was hot and stuffy in the mansion, so she opened the window, and leaned out, resting her head in her palms, and arms on the windowsill. A floating flower from the front garden drifted inside, but instead of falling to the ground in the mansion’s stale air, instead, it wandered up the stairs. For all the time that Elly had been in the mansion, she had in fact not gone upstairs that much, perhaps less than ten times. This was not out of place, though, as Elly was rarely curious – especially when it concerned her mistress’ personal space. Considering how long it had been since she was up there, it seemed appropriate to at least have a look around now that her attention had been drawn there. Climbing the stairs, the flower remained floating, and appeared to be guiding Elly somewhere. At the mansion’s landing, the flower breezed towards one of the many doors on the second floor of the house, and collapsed to the floor just before it reached the door. While the flower had been floating, it felt alive, as though someone was there with her, but the floor tiles had sapped that life away, leaving Elly alone again. Her guide was gone, but it had left her with an unlikely curiosity. Elly opened the door, and peered inside. It was a bedroom, but far from immaculate. Various clothes were scattered on the furniture, the bed left unmade, and the curtains half drawn. Some maps and books lay dangling off of a chair. As she took a step inside, there was a sharp crunch underneath her shoe. Glass shards covered the floor at the doorway – the shards having come from a vase that had fallen to the floor, judging by the soil and the shrivelled, grey, dusty flowers hanging to the side of the dirt. Now, being more careful about where she was treading, Elly moved to the curtains and opened them in order to get some more light in. A gust of wind flew in and unsettled most of the heavy dust in the room, so Elly shut the window before it became hard to breathe. She then turned, and noticed a brightly coloured object underneath the bed. Pulling it out, it was in fact a pink parasol, and Elly immediately knew who’s room she was in. Slightly panicked, she thought to finish up looking inside the room then get back to her post at the gate. On the bedside table stood a statue, and a note. She looked at the note, grabbed the statue, and rushed downstairs. She flew out of the magnificent entrance of Mugenkan, the one she had guarded for so long, and into the Lake of Blood. She had not been this far away from the house for so long that it was surprising to notice the demon eyes moving erratically over the liquid below. Heading towards the gate of the Lake, a few of them attacked her. While quickly dealt with, it did confuse her slightly - they were there mostly as a defense against intruders. For them to attack the residents was strange. The familiar buzz of the Lake slowly faded as she came towards the huge metal gates that barred entrance. Waiting, diligently as always, was a person who Elly could trust to help her with her investigation: Kurumi, the vampire of the Lake. "Well, hello there Elly. May I ask if you also did notice some strange behaviour of the demon eyes that usually quietly roam around here? Also, how can I be of assistance?" "Hey, Kurumi. The demon eyes were acting pretty strangely, although I wasn't sure if this was normal or not since I rarely venture this far away from the house. Is it your doing?" As she hears the answer; the question attached to it she just can't help but slap herself with her right hand, whether this was out of tiredness or out of annoyance wasn't quite visible on her facial expression but she'd soon reply with: "It wasn't my doing, to be very honest.. As of lately I seem to have no control around here, I do believe that it could be the season. Since a couple of years the demon eyes have often be misbehaving around this time of the year. Kinda why I asked you, I know that I, as a mighty vampire, should have total control over this lake. But seemingly I don't; it's bothering me a lot too. I feel like another demonic ruler might be around here; messing with my total control of the lake." "That's interesting. I don't know anything about what it could be. However, I'm currently looking into something myself regarding something I found in Mugenkan. There's a possibility they are related." Elly had a sudden burst of excitement, "We can look for clues for both of our investigations together! We'll be like a detective duo!" She regained her composure. "Ahem, so, what do you think?" "Oh? I guess we both have our own investigations then, but we could indeed team up. That might serve us both possibilities" Having an enormous sweat drop on the right-side of her head as Elly's excitement was enormous, clearly how Kurumi had remembered Elly. Serious, until her excitement comes up; then she has a sudden burst. This could follow for many more emotions Kurumi suddenly memorized, she did know it might be better to continue answering than thinking this to herself, she still did admire Elly's sudden outbursts and often finds herself to like them more than she is thinking. "May I ask what you're currently investigating; I'd be glad to accompany you, I guess that indeed does make us a detective duo! Ha, ha." Kurumi as much as her gentle manner of responding often does show, can get along with the excitement of others too. She often finds herself carried away in it after a bit of thinking. "I'm glad, it isn't often events like this happen so we should seize them at each opportunity." Elly reached into the bag she had been holding, and pulled out a wooden statue of a white snake. It had small red jewels for eyes, and seemed fragile. "I found this in the mistress' bedroom. Inscribed in the base are several sigils, I haven't seen them before though. There also seems to be something inside, but I cannot figure out a way to open it. Still, I wouldn't have paid any attention to it except there was a note next to it, which said 'off to get some fresh air ~ Yuuka'. There’s a date on it, I assume she tore it out of her diary…" Elly became a bit embarrassed, "So... Kurumi... you know the mistress is gone, right?" Elly's optimistic attitude was one Kurumi did admire, as she herself, although being optimistic often, finds herself to give more connotation to bad events than good ones. "Yes, taking opportunities is always important. Who knows where'll we get at together? Farther than alone for sure." Kurumi's eyes did glance as Elly pulled out the statue, it didn't look familiar to her at all but just gazing into the red jewellery-implied eyes made her gaze deepen even more in interest. Perhaps it's safe to say that vampires often find themselves to be attracted to jewellery or anything eccentric? At least that seemed to be so for Kurumi. "That's a very nice looking statue you found there, the wood seems to be of very fine quality; those jewels.. Yup those're certainly natural. I can't help but feel like it is something majestic..." After she took a deep breath to regain her composure, she answered with: "The mistress is gone? She did not let me know, I wonder why she didn't.. She usually at least takes a stroll around here to say goodbye for a moment to me." "Yes, Yuuka left. And I don't mean temporarily, either. We've been gatekeeping an empty mansion for many years now." "..." Kurumi's facial expression changed from not knowing to as if she had been hit with a bat. "Well, that's terrible! Then again, the attitude Yuuka has can change in seconds. I guess she got carried away with something wherever she may be, but even then.. I feel slightly worried about that, do you think Yuuka will be fine?" After she asked this question she remembered "Oh, I do quite remember a certain occasion in which she had left to get herself some seeds that were planted in a huge sun-flower field she had told about during that time, I remember that took much longer than expected.. Guess she's fine after all, no, she must be. She's Yuuka after all!" As much as she tries to force herself into relieving herself, she still feels somewhat worried. "I guess we should go ahead and so something then.." "Don't worry, Kurumi. As you say, this is Yuuka after all. I'm not surprised she left without notice, I'm just disappointed in myself for not realising she did." She turned her body away from the Lake, and looked into the distance. What Elly saw was troubling. Instead of the miles of blue skies she was expecting to exist beyond the gloomy clouds above the Lake, the sky was grey and a large red cloud was expanding across the horizon. "Kurumi, I get the feeling that Gensokyo has a lot of trouble brewing. As youkai who have been targeted by the shrine maiden before, it’s important we keep on guard the whole time we are away from here. If we are not careful it could mean a swift end for either of us, or both. If things start to get bad while we are investigating, a search for Yuuka may be an option we'll have to take." "Ah, that would explain that, I guess there's no helping not having noticed. Yuuka often takes very long moments of sleep, so it's understandable you couldn't have noticed. Other than that, I wouldn't worry too much about that. We'll be sure to see her sometime I guess." "Ah, I've seen the sky being like that for over a couple weeks or so, ever since I've been in this spot I guess. I hope it'll be a safe journey for us to venture to there. Yes, it is certainly of highest importance to move with our guards high. I'm not sure what has befallen onto Gensokyo, but I expect this to be indeed that dangerous. I suppose that's an emergency option we have to take in that case, after all her safety is our responsibility.. Even though we're probably the ones to be safe with her around in this scenario." "Yes, anyway, let's get going." Elly began her flight towards the mainland of Gensokyo. "Ah, yes. Let us set off for the next destination! " Kurumi followed Elly as the both flew to the lands Kurumi had not visited before. MMD Scene of the Week:
Four way collab between Me, Dani, ZM and Vex. Serves as Yoshika's introduction post as well.
New record~! #GreenHairAlliance
Sanae smiled once she saw the Divine Spirit Mausoleum up ahead. "We're about to approach, fairies," she told them as she looked back at them. "Hopefully Seiga's around, though I imagine she will be." The green-haired fairy nodded. "I hope this doesn't end up in another fight. ... Which I doubt, if she is the culprit." the fairy's hand was already at her dress's pocket, just in case. Meanwhile, the ice fairy was slowly lagging behind, looking amazed -and trying to freeze some- at all the spirits that were around the area. Once she noticed that the weird shrine maiden and Dai were going too far away, she hurried after them. Yoshika watches a known face approach along with 2 strangers, getting right in the middle of their path she meets them. "Howdy m'ladies, is it just me or was that blue hair just freezing my food?" Yoshika then proceeds to enter a fighting position known as the 'heaven breaking stance' displaying that she was willing to fight if necessary. "My master told me not to let anyone pass, so this here is definitely no good." Sanae stopped in her tracks. "Long time, no see, Yoshika," she greeted. The ice fairy put her arms behind her head. "Oh hey, it's a zombie!" The green-haired fairy got slightly near to Yoshika. "Please, if your master is Ms.Seiga, we really need to see her. Could you bring us to her, please?" Yoshika stares at the green haired fairy then glances at Sanae before looking again at the green haired fairy. "Listen here kiddo, tell your momma that if she wants to speak she should do it herself." Yoshika turns at Sanae. "And you Frog-head why are you sending your kid to negotiate with me, if you got something to say don't send your daughter, this elf" Sanae felt offended at the backhanded comments Yoshika taunted her with, but she let it slide. "Alright, may we please see Seiga then? This is of utmost importance," she replied. "D-did she seriously think I'm the shrine maiden's daughter...?" the green-haired fairy thought to herself "We're not that similar... Right...?"Yoshika sighs before responding to Sanae's inquiry "Didn't you frog-head listen to a thing I said? None shall pass, at least tell me why you want to pass." Yoshika relaxes her stand a bit thinking that she wouldn't need to resort to having these trespassers for dinner after all. Albeit a little disappointed about it too. "By the way just like I did back then I don't really appreciate your sass" Sanae rolled her eyes. Her mood has been in a roller coaster all night. "Look, there's been a near-catastrophe going on in the Human Village, and it's even beginning to expand past that," she explained hurriedly. "Your master may know something about this, and we really have to see her. Now please?" "Oh yes she told me about that, my master did" Yoshika, grimaced and continued. "Tell my why my master or I should care about this and I'll let you pass indeed." Yoshika responded only in what she though to be the best interest to her master, believing that the curse will take care of any enemies for her. Sanae looked at Yoshika seriously. "If you don't, then I won't hesitate to beat you up again. This is an urgent matter and Gensokyo itself is at stake." "That would make me quite mad, however." A hole formed on the wall next to them and Seiga's head popped from it as she rested her arms on it as if it was a window. A squeak came out from Dai's mouth as she backed away from the wall. "Master!" Yoshika called out to her beloved master and had a 180 change on her attitude "The Moriya shrine maiden and her daughter, and and ummm, blue hair wanted to force you to do something that could put you in danger, don't listen to them" "That isn't true!" Sanae retorted, annoyed at the zombie's obnoxious attitude. "All we want are answers, and Seiga can provide some. Please, hear us out." Seiga looked at the chaos in front of her with a smile. "And what do I get from listening to you?" She twirled her hairpin between her fingers. Cirno crossed her arms and looked at the wicked hermit angrily. "You stop us on telling everyone in Gensokyo that you're the culprit, Tasty-Hair-Lady." Yoshika glared at Cirno her personality back to the one from when they had met. "How dare you blue haired ice machine!?" Yoshika extended her arm and grabbed Cirno by the collar, and then lifting her up she said. "If there's anything tasty here that's gonna be you on the dinner after I cook you with some beans " "Let me see if I understand this situation correctly..." The hermit calmly looked at the invaders with a smile, though her expression had darkened. "You come here asking for my collaboration while threatening my cute underling and threatening me with blackmail? Some boldness you have... or is it just stupidity?" "Maybe if you weren't so ignorant, you'd realize how serious this all is," Sanae snapped as she got closer to Seiga. "Now start talking." Cirno forcefully freed herself from Yoshika's grasp, while firing an icicle at the jiang-shi. "I wouldn't exactly call a zombie 'cute', y'know..." The hermit looked positively unfazed by the shrine maiden's threatening voice. "Ignorant? Aren't you the ignorant one, little girl? You came here seeking advice for something you cannot begin to grasp and yet you feel entitled to run your mouth like a toddler." She looked dangerously at Sanae, her smile never leaving her lips. "What is happening does not concern me, I can even say it concerns me even less now that I see who's trying to solve it. Leave this place and resume your wild-goose chase if you don't want things to go sour for you and your little companions, shrine maiden." That did it. All Sanae could see was red. "Y-You..." she muttered, clenching her fists as she glared at Seiga. She then sighed as she calmed herself, looking at Seiga cooly. "Such pompous words coming from someone like you. Didn't I beat you up, too? You know what I'm capable of." Yoshika caught the icicle with her theeth and shattered it, leaving the ice fairy along after seeing her startled face at what she had just done, then glaring at Sanae decided to ready herself to strike in case her master requested this of her. “Is that what you tell yourself when you go to sleep? That you’ve defeated saints and hermits in a danmaku battle before, therefore showing the extent of your power?” Seiga chuckled and then smirked. “Did that help against the so called ‘ripper’?” She asked amusingly and then added. “Do you think it will help now?” She put her hairpin to her chin. “Yoshika, please escort them out. I have nothing else to tell them.” The ice fairy growled as she created an ice spear and pointed it at Seiga. "Look, Tasty Hair. We just want your help. This ripper thing uses dark magic, and the shrine maiden says you know about it. Tell us what we want to know and we'll leave you alone! Otherwise, you and your zombie will have to face the strongest being in Gensokyo!" On the other hand, Dai was biting her nails nerviously. "This is not how things should've turned out...! We're just wasting time like this!"Yoshika laughed for a bit at the fairy's resilience, thinking to herself, 'a little exercise before dinner is always welcome' before getting serious and asking. "Would you leave quietly, or do you some… convincing? Either way my master has grown bored of your antics, so no more pointless talking." Sanae looked away. "No, it didn't help me against the ripper..." she admitted, more to herself than the other four. "In fact, if it weren't for Lady Kanako, I probably wouldn't even be here right now..." She looked back at Seiga. "I apologize for my attitude," she told her, figuring that approaching this hermit in a calm manner would yield better results. "You're a necromancer, and the culprit practices necromancy. Therefore you were the first one I thought of." The hermit was about to turn away when she heard Sanae, she looked at the shrine maiden, she supported her head on her hand and asked amusedly yet without malice. "As the culprit or as an ally?" "What is your involvement in this crisis, if any?" Sanae asked earnestly. "None. But I suppose that even if I was the culprit I wouldn't tell you." She replied plainly. "However, I would be lying if I said I'm not curious about this Incident." The hermit smiled. "Your ripper's power has nothing to do with necromancy. Its necromantic powers are nothing but illusions. Alas, even illusions can be harmful." "Master it's a dangerous matter, are you sure you want to delve into it, when these people would be doubtful allies at best, I mean just look at this little ice queen and the look she's giving me" The great fairy got near the wicked hermit. Now that things seemed to have calmed down, they might actually get something out of this. "The ripper's ability is dream manipulation, right...? What do you know about that kind of ability, Ms. Seiga...?" Seiga looked at Yoshika. “Don’t worry, my cute underling. I have no interest in being their ally, but you can’t expect a hermit to fight her curiosity.” And then the green fairy that had been quiet the hole time decided to speak, the hermit rested her eyes on the girl, smiling. “So you’re already aware of that, I’m surprised you got there as fast as you did, considering the ability it is.” She twirled the hairpin again. “Simply put, that’s an ability soooo scary that even the creator of Makai banished it. In my opinion, it’s quite fascinating to behold. Apart from what the name tells you, you can also manipulate your victims through the use of dreams turning their minds upside down if they’re week enough. Doesn’t that sound fun?” She chuckled. “But what made it truly frightening was the fact that it can be used to cause physical harm and death. In short, if you’re powerful enough you can kill someone by attacking them in their dreams.” Putting the hairpin on her chin, she smiled. “Of course, as with anything in life, such power doesn’t come without drawbacks. “ "Which are?" the green haired shrine maiden inquired, listening intently to Seiga's speech. “You gamble your own soul each time you use your powers.” The hermit replied. “In order to make someone vulnerable, sometimes you need to make yourself vulnerable as well. In other words, if you want to control someone, you need to establish a connection between your victim’s soul and your own. That connection can be exploited just as easily as it is by you.” She looked at the shrine maiden. “So far, it seems the culprit has been cautious, it’s only using its magic to con others and steal their life essence, that’s why the sigils disappear - the connection is brief. But… something went wrong when it attacked a certain witch.” "Marisa..." Sanae muttered. "I heard from Eirin Yagokoro that she was attacked. Is she alright?" “That’s hard to tell. If the one behind this is competent she shouldn’t be.” Seiga stated simply. “But that is not what I’m getting at. The sigil is there by accident, that was nothing but an incomplete spell. Which leads me to believe that the one who casted it is still an apprentice… however… no apprentice would be able to cast this kind of advanced spells.” She crossed her arms. “Your ripper is either comprised of two people or one person and a magical object.” The shrine maiden began to contemplate. "Two people...or one person with a magical object...this will be a useful tidbit of information to report back to Yagokoro-san."She then bowed to Seiga. "Thank you. This was most helpful." “Ah, one more thing.” The hermit continued. “The sigil is still on the witch’s neck, that means that their souls are connected somehow and that can be exploited. If you want to take a gamble…” She smirked. “Kill the witch and weaken the ripper. The life of one for the possibility to save the lives of many.” The hermit stood up and started to walk off. “I’ll be looking forward to see this Incident resolved. Goodbye~” "W-wait!" the great fairy shouted. "If I remember correctly, the ripper wanted to bring someone back... Is transferring life energy to someone who is dead possible...?" "Transferring life energy to the death? Gee, I wonder, it's not like there's a living example in front of you right?" Said Yoshika after reverting her battle pose to a relaxed pose now that there was no threat to Seiga. The hermit stopped on her tracks. She looked back at Yoshika and then at Dai. “You cannot revive the dead.” She said, there was a vague hint of sadness on her eyes. “No matter how much you try, the dead will remain dead and their souls will remain gone. You can’t bring back more than small shard of what that person once was, a mere shadow. You can spend your whole life after it but I can assure you, there is no such thing.” Her blue eyes rested on Yoshika once again. "But shard or not, the love we have for them will remain and that alone will never be gone" Indeed you couldn’t revive someone you loved and the hermit knew that more than anyone. ’It doesn’t keep people from trying.'Sanae closed her eyes, taking in all the information. Potentially dual culprits or one culprit with a magical item...Marisa's death potentially being strived for by those who want to weaken the culprit...both the potential culprits and Marisa somewhere located in Gensokyo...it was a lot to take in. The shrine maiden half-opened her eyes, her yellow eyes lined with fatigue. It's been a long night. A very long night. The green-haired fairy listened to Seiga's explanation. "I... see. That's all I needed to know." the fairy bowed. "Thank you for your help." "Alright you two, I think we have all the info we need. Thanks again, Seiga," the shrine maiden spoke, turning around as she began to exit the mausoleum. "Hah...I need to see Lady Suwako..." Just as they were exiting Yoshika started following them, which they noticed pretty quickly. Before anyone could say anything Yoshika said "This RIP demon magician whatever sounds like it could harm master, if you're searching for it allow me to follow you since you seem to be on it's trail, at least to some extent" Sanae gave Yoshika a small apologetic smile. "I'm not going to pursue the culprit right now," she told her. "I need to return back to my shrine for an important matter." "What 'bout you ice machine?" The ice fairy let out a single "hmph" while turning her head away from the jiang-shi. A light of danger shone upon Yoshika's eyes "Guess you'll do for dinner after all." --- As the fairies, the shrine maiden and the jiang-shi existed the mausoleum, the sun slowly began to rise, confirming the start of the seventeenth day since the ripper showed up on Gensokyo, according to the herald of spring's reports. The recent conversation with the wicked hermit had flipped a switch on the small, green-haired fairy's mind. She had never considered the fact that someone else could have been the culprit, let alone the fact that the culprit wasn't actually experienced with the dark magic it was using. However, the most notable part for Daiyousei was the fact that the ripper was probably trying to revive someone by stealing life energy from Gensokyo's inhabitants. If this was the ripper's true objective, then perhaps... An idea bursted on the fairy's mind. Gaining full speed, she began to fly away in a different direction, leaving the group behind. "D-dai?! Hey! Where are you going?!" the ice fairy said, trying to go after her. However, soon enough she lost sight of Dai. "What's up with her...?!"
‘An odd one’, yes, that’s what people generally said about her. She didn’t really think she was odd but if everyone said it then it was probably true. The eight year old hummed contently, a happy smile on her lips as she read the book in front of her. It was a book about a princess that had fallen in love with a man from the people, she didn’t get the details but for some reason beyond her the princess’ parents refused to acknowledge the infatuation the young lady had, it was forbidden, it was something that ‘wasn’t meant to be’. The girl had, since then, been confined to her quarters, barred from ever leaving until she understood the affront she had committed towards her own family. Then, a creature with the head of an eagle, body of a lion and a snake as tail attacked the castle and took the princess away. Every knight in the land, inside glorious shiny cans of metal, bravely turned tail and ran at the sight of the gigantic creature. No man would ever face such a being if only by pure folly. But one did. A man armed with a spear and a wooden shield, he stood and faced the creature in the ragged clothes of a farmer. When the man arrived at the creature’s lair, he saw the princess screaming, yelling at him to slay the beast, the beast, however, didn’t move, its eyes fixed on the man in front of it. A man it could have simply squashed with its gigantic claws. The man closed his eyes and without hesitation, he slashed down his sword, silencing the woman instead. The creature in front of him screeched and, in a flash of light, turned into his beloved princess. It turned out that the creature had cast a spell to change their appearances, but he had seen pass it. They feel on each other’s arms, finally together. It was a cliché ending with the usual “and they lived happy ever after”, but that wasn’t the part that caught the child’s eyes. “’What is essential is invisible to the eyes. It is only with the heart that one truly sees. Love cannot be bound, cannot be broken for it is limitless.’” She read out loud with a grin even though she knew the line by heart. She wasn’t interested in being a princess in a pretty dress, a knight in a shining armor or a farmer in torn clothes, she wanted to, someday, be able to protect someone like that. Someone she cared about, someone she had grown to love. Wouldn’t that be wonderful? “Marisa, what are you doing here? I told you to help at the shop. Is it that hard for you to obey your father? Every single time, reading those books. ” And with that she was woken up from her reverie. The ten year old had forgotten about such things, she was only reminded of when she heard her parents talking effusively about how they would establish a connection with the Yoshidas, those famous rice farmers. It would make their shop a lot more prosperous, they were certain of it. All they had to do was… “Wait… why do I have to marry their son? Kotoshiro is a nosy brat and I hate him.” “Watch your tongue, young lady! You will and that is final. You know how much we need the money. Business hasn’t been good with all those dirty youkai attacking our carts.” The stern voice of her father rang like it had ringed for a lot of things in the past. It didn’t matter what, it didn’t matter why, her parents would always find her childish and egotistical. It had been like this since she could remember. The thunderous voice she had grown to know had always stifled her words. But not anymore, she had had it. “So you’re the ones deciding this too for me, who I love? What else do you want to decide in my life?” “Love? This has nothing to do with love, this is business. Didn’t the Kozakura girl get married to? It’s only expected of you as my only daughter to do so as well.” Was that it? Was love such a trifle thing? She didn’t think it was… No, she knew it wasn’t. Maybe she was an oddball after all. That night she had decided to run. She decided to leave her house and her parents without a single word. So many things, so many things were expected of her – she was a Kirisame, she had to continue to work in the family’s shop; she was a child, she had to hear everything her parents said without a word; she was a girl, she had to follow what society had envisioned for her. Where would she end up if she passively followed what others wanted her to? What more things would be expected of her in the future? Screw the rules, screw expectations. Her life was her own path to walk. As headstrong as she was, she wasn’t a very good planner, she ended up lost in the forest and attacked by a youkai, only to be saved my another one that later would become her mentor. “Magicians garner their power from the elements, from things that surround them. The limits are nigh none.” The green haired spirit looked at the girl. “So before you even consider being one, you have to decide from where you’re---“ “Love!” “Hah?” With a laugh that could be heard through the forest, the ghost looked at the blonde child. “You sure spout the most amusing of the things, kid!” A smirk showed in her features. “Interesting! Then, from now on, you’ll show me, what that love magic of yours looks like.” And so she would, countless and countless times she’d show how beautifully strong her love magic was. In the kaleidoscope of adventures that was the eleven year old’s mind a myriad of pictures blended together but only one had vividly accompanied her from there onwards. “This time, I won’t lose!” The girl in front of her said firmly. “You sure sound confident for a loser ze.” “I’ve obtained the ultimate magical grimoire, I’ll defeat you!” “Ooh, ‘ultimate magical grimoire’, you say? Can I borrow it?” “This is something that a talentless magician like you could never use!” “Hey, I defeat you, before! That means you’re even more talentless than me!” “Ah…! B-beginner’s luck! A-and you, do you think using all that firepower makes you look cool? Because it doesn’t!” “Wha---“ ‘She’s lying! I totally look cool! What’s cooler than magical beams?’ “Why should I care about your opinion anyway? You… huh… squirt!” “What did you just call me?” The girl’s face turned red with anger and Marisa knew her offhand remark had touched a nerve. “Squirt! You’re a shorty, a beansprout!” “How dare you, you big headed idiot! Do you use that hat to cover it up? And a witch hat of all the things, so lame!” “Let’s just start this, you brat!” Marisa said through clenched teeth. “As you wish! I’ll teach you a lesson, prepare yourself!” And the shorter girl looked at the heavy looking tome on her hands, intense eyes running along its yellowed pages. “…” Marisa glared at the girl as minutes flew by. “Are you gonna fight with your face stuffed inside a book?” “These spells are so strong that you can’t do it without looking at it!” ‘You’re just doing that because you haven’t memorized any of those spells, aren’t you?’ “Right… Gonna be over soon?” “Be quiet, you halfwit, I’m trying to concentrate!” “’Half’…Grr! That’s it! I’m starting this!” It was a canvas of white and blue with a pair of unwavering turquoise eyes staring at her through golden locks.“Ugh… Why?! Why can’t I defeat you?!” “Nice try, shorty, but it’s my win.” The witch turned around, a smug smirk on her face. “Just you wait…” She looked behind. “Ahn?” The girl raised her eyes to the witch in front of her. “Someday, I’ll defeat you!” Marisa didn’t answer. In the other she saw determination. She grinned at the girl as she looked at her blue orbs. Resolve was always a trait she had admired. “I’m Marisa Kirisame, come challenge me whenever you want!” Those eyes, yes, maybe those eyes were the ones she would grow to care for and protect someday. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?
"Goodbye," he said.
"Goodbye," said the fox. "And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."
"What is essential is invisible to the eye," the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember.
"It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important."
"It is the time I have wasted for my rose--" said the little prince, so that he would be sure to remember.
"Men have forgotten this truth," said the fox. "But you must not forget it. You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed. You are responsible for your rose . . ."
Shiver - The Gazette“Hey, did the nekomata get your tongue or are you deaf?”
The moonlight demon lowered her eyes, a shadow casting upon her face as she grinned wickedly. The demon was tempted to immediately strike the idiotic miko with one of her most powerful spells, but remained in a state of no motion. Gengetsu's large, angel-like wings flapped vigorously in the nightly winds, the full moon shining down on her. She listened in on what the individual with pink hair was explaining to the unknown miko, and was on the verge of a maniacal laugh. Do they really think that by simply walking by her, that all of this would be over? That everything that they have come this far for will simply disappear? They have no idea what they have put themselves in. The demon closed her eyes, and reminisced on a sentence the unknown miko said, as she would then raise her head.
"People’s lives are at stake"
Gengetsu imagined the miko herself at an actual stake, burning to her death and being sacrificed. The only words the demon could silently think were,
"I hope....that they...put you...at stake...after everything is over.."
Threatening? Demanding orders? How stupid of this childish miko to say to someone such as this misinterpretation of an angel. Does she have any idea what her power can do? Even the concept of distraction almost made the demon want to make a small chuckle. Continuing to look straight at the miko and the other girl with no flinching / blinking. The demon looked carelessly toward the blue robed woman, noticing that she was creating a butterfly of some sort. It would fly slowly toward a bush after the woman spoke to it. After the miko threatened her and the miko and the blue robed woman spoke momentarily, they began to walk off. Gengetsu turned her body around, her back to the butterfly, noticing them walk a rather long distance away from where she was. Gengetsu maniacally laughed, her voice sounding somewhat childish for a moment, before it became a heavy, mature tone. (*Note - think of Beatrice from Umineko.) The loud laughter would make the miko and the woman with her turn around from distance to hear it. Then, suddenly, from where Gengetsu was, she raised her hands carelessly, on her left hand, she held her index finger up, as it began to quickly charge up moonlight magic, it's coloration a mix of light silver and white. She would then use her right hand and do the same, her index finger on her right hand charging up the same kind of moonlight magic with the same colors. From afar it was pure silence, but that silence turned into sounds of collision and things blowing up when Gengetsu would raise both of her two index fingers in the air, two large lines of moonlight magic mixed with unknown silver energy seen in the sky. Twirling her fingers in a "criss cross" style, she then turned around, grimacing as she then shot out the two lines of magic, both of which directed at the butterfly, which was known to her as Double Moonlight Spark, Belonging to the infamous “spark” family, this attack is pretty much similar to its relatives in appearance, save that the energy it glows with at the end is of a faint silver-blue color. It is notably smaller in the area of effect compared to Master Spark, but in exchange, packs a much more dense and powerful punch. Gengetsu can also fire off one after another with quite the ease, and she can also spare enough energy to combine her Moonlight Spark with other attacks. The butterfly, along with rather large stretch of land it was hiding in, had been destroyed for miles on end, and could be seen through the aftermath of the fog clearing. Mysterious black flames could be seen silently burning at the edges of where the sparks had hit in all areas.
Her Moonlight-based magic can not only inflict grievous wounds onto her enemies, but since they're from the same source that caused youkai to appear, they leave a sort of black flames that burn in their wake, resembling fiery shadows. Said flames are rather damaging to the soul, and can cause all kinds of spiritual anomalies, including accelerated youkaification. The final thing that Yuyuko and Reimu would see is unusually large meteors and stars falling from the sky, silently for a moment, which from afar were Gengetsu's other two spells; a mix of Moonlight Meteors and Starfall Reverie. The demon would slowly rise from the smoke, seen afar as though she was floating directly in front of the moon. Her dress had been tattered with all kinds of dirt, while it and the bow on her head continued to vigorously blow in the wind. Gengetsu raised her head, her eyes now a pure, moon white that showed no pupils, grinning once again. The white eyes stayed momentarily, before they switched back to their normal yellow, staring down from miles away at the two strangers.
"Soon...this world...will be....nothing other than...an illusion..."
Gengetsu would think to herself in split pieces of thought. Hovering over the land and staring down at the two from below, miles away, she would then slowly lower herself downward, her wings flapping, as she would disappear through the smoke that clouded the area after what she had done, becoming unseen.
Little footsteps, like the pitter-patter of rain of rooftops echoed throughout the great silent library.
“Remi, why did you ask me to make red mist and the rocket again? You’re not quite bored enough for something like that, I would believe.” asked Patchouli monotonously, not looking up from the tome resting on her lap. “And before you ask, Koakuma is outside and Sakuya is on an errand for a…Strangely large amount of food. So, tell me the real reason.” “Hmph. Alright, since you asked like that, I will tell you. Our Mansion is separated into two, my stupid little sister, and the rest of us. I will create the mist so Flandre can operate at full power. All for the glory of the Scarlet Devil Mansion! As far as I know, the majority of Gensokyo’s superpowers are already investigating this incident. Our maid fairy unit is decreasing quite rapidly, thanks to the ripper attacks. So we’re going to the moon to make sure we keep the rest safe. Then we will all head to the moon as well, I’d think those lunarians would provide ample entertainment. A day on the moon lasts for 30 days on the earth. This means, we will be safe there for 30 days since the ripper cannot attack during the day.” Explained Remilia pompously.
“…We’re seriously going to the moon.” Parroted Patchouli blankly.
Ignoring her, Remilia continued “let’s say if the others fail for 30 days, then the moon would be in night for 30 days, then I’ll take back the mist so the only ‘night’ would be on the moon. Then we can ambush the ripper and you can seal it. We can also ask Keine to history seal the rest of Gensokyo, so the only targets for the ripper to attack would be us.” Remilia took a deep breath, then spoke with a childlike grin “So, what do you think?”
“That plan is very like you. The last part, anyway. I will also praise you for not randomly raiding random places like the other such ‘gensokyo superpowers’ are doing. Also for realising that the best we could do is to seal the ripper, since even the likes of our little mistress or Yuyuko has failed to stop it. BUT first of all, how are you so sure the ripper can even go to the moon? How are you so sure that ordinary magical barriers like I am capable of doing on my own is sufficient? How do you know the lunarians aren’t just going to toss us back here like a bag of garbage? Even if it succeeds, how long do you think we can keep Gensokyo hidden with our current resources? How do you know if the others wouldn’t do something against your plan? Assuming I can even chant that many spells in the first place!” Patchouli ranted angrily, “Most importantly! You want me to leave my library (and go to the moon)? I thought you were my friend. I can't believe you. No. No way. I would rather let that Marisa steal half the library and give her a pat on the back!”
Patchouli coughs violently a few times, as if to accentuate her point, before wearily dabbing her mouth with a handkerchief. “You’re just bored and you’re jealous the others are getting to fight a strong opponent, aren’t you?”
Remilia sulks.
The pair stare at each other for a few minutes before Patchouli broke the silence. “The ripper doesn’t attack during the day. An ‘imperishable day’ would work against the ripper to some extent.” She said dryly. “In other words, have Sakuya lengthen the time of the day, and for us to create red mist in a focused area so only one place in Gensokyo is night…” mused Remilia, “A barrier would indeed work against the ripper, if my sources are correct. Something on the level of the Hakurei barrier should be able to contain it.” “Barrier magic on the magnitude of the Hakurei barrier would need a stupendous amount of magical energy, as well as the gap youkai’s support. Although I do believe if I conduct a few tests on the barrier I can replicate a miniature prototype version”
“…I shall look into it, I don’t need your help. Also, forget about the mist, an extra 18 hours would wreak havoc on my sleep schedule.” Finished Remilia curtly. She turned on her heel, hiding her flushed face, the little vampire stomped out of the library.
“Yes, yes Remi. I’ll be here if you need me. Also, remember, the mist will take a week to clear up.”
Collab with Shadie \0/
Kasen looked at the sky, seeing the sun rising and then tilted her head to the young vampire next to her.
“The sun is rising, are you going to be okay?”
Flan nodded and put her hand on her pocket. Seconds later she took a really small parasol, which embiggened quickly. The vampire opened the parasol and covered herself with it. "I think the Beansprout put a miniaturizing spell on the parasol to make it easier to carry... Or something I guess, I don't really know." Flan made the parasol spin on her hand. "I hate the Beansprout a little. She made the seals that kept me locked in my room for so many years... They were supposed to be made to stop me from using my power. It didn't really work, I broke out once." the young scarlet sister smiled. "At that time I met Marisa and the red-white, and since then my sister has let me go around on the mansion. I'm guessing it's because those seals were useless."
“Red-white… You mean Reimu?” Kasen chuckled. “Well, they are good at destroying things, that’s for sure.” She put her hand on her chin. “I don’t think I know who ‘breansprout' is though. Wait…” She thought for a second. “You did say your name was “Scarlet”, so you’re Remilia’s sister?”
The vampire nodded. "Yeah... I'm her young sister... Do you know Remi?"
“I can’t say I know her, I never talked with her before but I’ve seen her at the Shrine lots of times along with Sakuya.” She frowned slightly. “She does have an ojousama-like personality, doesn’t she? “
The young vampire shrugged. "I guess so..." Flan lowered her head. ‘So big sis gets to have fun outside while I'm stuck inside the mansion huh...?’ she clenched her fist in anger.
Suddenly, a small firefly that was passing near Flan made a little explosion (but harmless) and evaporated. The young vampire opened her hand. Kasen’s eyes widened a bit as she saw the insect disappearing and then looked at Flandre again. ’So, that’s her power…’
“Flandre, did you get angry just now?”
The vampire looked away from the hermit, feeling ashamed. "Yeah... Just... Just a little..."
Crossing her eyes, Kasen ‘s expression changed into one akin to a scolding teacher’s. “Even if you have a reason to be angry, nothing gives you the right to take it on others, even if a tiny being. In this universe, we’re all but tiny beings, we may be the ones getting destroyed next. Now apologize to the firefly.” Her voice was calm but firm.
The vampire didn't bother to look back at the hermit, instead she looked at the place where the firefly evaporated. "Sorry..."
“Our anger is our burden to carry, not anyone else’s.” Kasen continued in a softer voice. “We have to learn how to control it, we have to always keep in mind that our anger can make others suffer.” Then a sly smirk formed in her features. “That means, if your sister doesn’t let you leave your room, then you do exactly that. If she doesn’t want you to come to parties, you come to parties. Then the anger she will feel will be hers to carry.”
She closed her eyes, smirking. “If she wants to fight you, I’ll gladly join you. It’s been a while since I kicked some---“ And she flashed her eyes open. “No, no, I mean… huh, ignore that! Ahaha…”
Flan raised an eyebrow upon hearing Kasen's last lines. "Kicking some.... "ass"? You sure you are a hermit...?" she looked at the buns on Kasen's head curiously. "What's up with those, by the way?"
“I am but… uh…” She looked to her side, embarrassed. “But you could say I hanged with the wrong kind of people for a while…” The hermit sighed a bit at that. “Well, I’m also of the opinion hermits shouldn’t fight, but if it’s needed to teach someone a lesson, I will do so.”
She put her hands on the buns atop her head. “As for these, they’re chignon buns.”
"Chignon buns...?" The vampire flew over to Kasen's head and began to poke the buns.
Kasen could feel a shiver running up her spine and out of reflex, she grabbed Flandre by the waist and pulled her down. “A-anyway! You mentioned a beansprout that made the seals that barred your from leaving your room. Is she a magician?”
The young scarlet sister pouted and crossed her arms. "Yeah... Her name is Patchouli or something like that... She's a really good magician, or so did her demon familiar said. She's always sick or something. I don't really know..."
“Oh, I remember Marisa mentioning her before. She might come in handy later but…” She looked at Flandre’s pout and the sighed. “We’ll leave that for later.”
Looking down, near the Human Village Kasen saw the Myouren temple.
“Alright, we’re here. Let’s land.” Her dapeng descended on the ground and landed gracefully in front of the temple.
The young vampire landed next to Kasen, looking at the temple. "I want to take a look inside!" she ran towards the entrance as fast as she could, not caring if she was leaving Kasen behind.
“Wha-wait!” Kasen watched as Flandre seemingly blasted through the front gate, only to crash against a certain purple haired woman seconds later. The hermit sighed.
The vampire backed away as soon as she hit the person. "Hey! Watch where you're going! I'm in a hurry!" she shook her head and looked up to the "obstacle" she hit. Byakuren looked at Flandre with a curious look. She was certain she hadn’t seen that girl before. “Pardon me.” She extended the young vampire a hand and with a smile she added “I’m Byakuren Hijiri, head of this temple. If you need assistance I will gladly provide it for you.”
The scarlet sister looked at Byakuren and shook her hand. "Nice to meet you, Ms.Weird Hair. I wanted to take a look inside the temple with the hermit over there." she said, pointing at Kasen.
Kasen approached Flandre and put an hand on top of her had.“Greetings, Miss Hijiri, my apologies for the hyperactive vampire.”
Byakuren chuckled. “No, it’s quite alright. It has been a while since we last met, Miss Ibaraki. Please come inside.”
The vampire rubbed her chin. ‘They know each other, hmm...?’
Flan hurried inside the temple, taking a look at her surroundings once she was inside.
Kasen followed Byakuren inside as the latter broke the silence.
“I don’t need to be a diviner to know why you’re here.” She sat down in the living room, a serious look on her face. The hermit emulated her. “I suppose not.”
Sorry, another DM post because it was necessary. Don't worry, it's small c: Collab with ZM~
Reimu looked at the meteors falling in the distance through the corner of her eyes. "Can you feel that? I told her she was trouble."
Yuyuko sighed, pouting a little. "My poor butterfly...it hasn't even been five minutes and it was destroyed so...violently."
The miko smiled. "Well, nothing we weren't expecting. You can still track her, right?"
Yuyuko smiled back. "Ghosts don't die, after all."
"I guess we'll have to deal with that nutjob later." She looked up at the sky again. "This seems to be getting more and more complicated...." She trailed off. "Ahn?" Brown orbs stared at an increasingly thicker scarlet mist hovering above them.
The pink-haired ghost peered, shaking her head in disbelief. Of all the times...
"Isn't that...?" she trailed off, looking over at the Hakurei shrine maiden.
Reimu was trembling, jaw clenched. "REMILIA!! What on Gensokyo is that idiot vampire thinking?!"
Yuyuko stared calmly at Reimu. "Do you still want to pursue Komachi? Or should we head over to the Scarlet Devil Mansion and interrogate Remilia Scarlet? It's up to you."
"Tch..." Reimu looked in the direction of the river. "Tell me..." Her frustrations forgotten, the miko started thinking level-headedly for a chance. "Do you think Komachi is behind this?"
"Is there any reason Komachi would harm innocents? She's carefree and quite respectful, no?" Yuyuko answered. "Besides, if Komachi was really behind this, then there's no doubt Shiki Eiki would intervene as soon as possible."
"When you put it that way..." Reimu scratched her head annoyed, feeling stupid for not thinking straight. "You're right. But that means we're back to square one..." Her eyes looked at Yuyuko again. "And this scarlet mist... The culprit has only attacked during the night, so far... If this keeps up..."
"Then things will only get worse, since the ripper will continue attacking..." Yuyuko finished. "This is not good. We need to hurry."
Reimu nodded. "Let's get going." and with that she flew off.
Following suit, Yuyuko flew after Reimu. She began to contemplate in her mind about the ripper, Eirin's words continuing to repeat. Would the only solution be death...?
She shook her head. "No, there HAS to be another way..."
Reisen wiped her brow, and her ears drooped ever so slightly. In front of her, finally, were the gates to the Netherworld. This was probably the strangest place Eirin had ever sent her, beating out Muenzuka by a small margin. Glancing back down at the ever useful clipboard Eirin loved to hand her, Reisen scratched her head at the complexity of the directions. She could have SWORN they made too many left turns to be anywhere but back at Eientei, and the final instructions were “go into clouds”. But here they were. Standing in front of large, magic gate. A large magic, closed gate, at that.
“Huh”, reisen muttered, leafing through the rather sloppily written note.
Utsuho looked around as well, completely in awe from the sheer amount of cherry blossoms everywhere. It truly was a beautiful area, and a huge contrast from the fires of the nuclear reactor she spent so much of her time in. Peaking over the Lunarian's shoulder, Utsuho's eyes glinted with curiosity. "Ooh, what does it say?" she piped.
Reisen jumped a little from the intrusion, but regained her posture quickly enough that no one noticed. Handing Okuu the clipboard, she replied “Well, see for yourself, hell-crow. My master sure gets some weird ideas these days…”
Utsuho looked at the parchment Reisen was holding for a few seconds, a quizzical expression on her face. Soon, she looked at the lavender-haired girl and shook her head, smiling sheepishly. "I have no idea what that says," she admitted, shrugging.
Reisen chuckled, and said “Well, I admit, her handwriting is pretty awful… even I have a hard time reading it sometimes…” Taking the clipboard back from Okuu, she cleared her throat and read “If gate-keepers are not around, gate might be closed. Entry is necessary, get in by any means possible.”
"So..." Mokou looked at Okuu's nuclear arm "We use that?"
"Oh, this?" Utsuho said, aiming it at the door. "I don't mind! I'll blow this door to smithereens! Stand back, ladies!"
"Waitwaitwaitwait" Reisen quickly yelled, not looking forward to more property damage of any kind. "I think we should think of a be-"
Without warning, the door in front of the girls blew up into thousands of pieces behind a blinding light. Once the light disappeared, the only remains of the door seen through the smoke were two charred hinges which soon toppled to the ground with a quiet thud. Utsuho brought her nuclear arm to her lips and blew the smoke away, grinning. "Open sesame~"
“Well,” Reisen grumbled miserably, stumbling a bit from the blast. “I guess it’s open… let’s head on in.” Reisen started to walk forward, stopped, and then turning to Okuu said “Oh, and, uh, in the future, please don’t use that unless I say it’s okay. Trust me, I’m a doctor, I’ll know.”
"Alright doc!" Utsuho nodded as she and Mokou followed the rabbit. "What are we even here for again?"
Mokou wipes some tears from laughter away, and pats Okuu on the back.
"You'll see" Reisen reassured, glaring at Mokou. "She should show up any second now, actually, thanks to the sound that made..." No sooner had Reisen finished her sentence when a loud voice rang out, cutting through the smoke like a knife.
"HALT! WHO GOES THERE?"
Utsuho flinched, pointing her nuclear arm in the direction of the voice. "WE COME IN PEACE!" she yelled back.
"Your words do not fool me, evil one! Anyone who breaks down the barrier must be a bad guy!" There was a sharp noise, and the smoke parted in an instance, the owner of the voice made clear.
"I, Youmu Konpaku, shall end your journey here! You must be the ones who were hurting the villagers!" Unsheathing her second sword, Youmu advanced toward the intruders, a murderous intent in her eyes.
"' The things that cannot be cut by my Roukan-Blade, forged by youkai... are next to none!'"
Mokou coughed. "So..." Mokou looks at Okuu's nuclear arm (again) "We use that?"
Utsuho glanced at Reisen. "Can I fire?"
Reisen put her hands to her temples, and said “Mokou, violence isn’t the answer to everything. And Okuu, no, you can’t fire. Let me handle this, Eirin actually had something prepared for it.”
Reisen walked forward, and called out to Youmu. “Samurai, this is Reisen Udongein Inaba. I have been sent by Yuyuko Saigyouji to deliver a message!”
Youmu faltered a bit at the sound of her lady’s name. Calling back, she shouted “H-How do I know this isn’t a trick? You could be liars!” Youmu squinted at who was talking, and she thought she could see a grin on the rabbits face. “D-don’t try anything! I’ve already beaten you once, Reisen!”
Suddenly, Reisen’s figured wavered and vanished. From the perspective of Mokou and Okuu, Reisen seemed to have appeared behind Youmu, whispered something inaudible in her ear, and Youmu’s face immediately turned a bright, beet-red.
Utsuho tilted her head to the side. "Did she pinch her butt, or something?"
Youmu spun around, and waved her sword rather shakily at Reisen. “H-h-h-how do you know that?” she stammered, sweat condensing on her forehead. Even the ghost floating around her seemed distressed. “No one except my Lady knows that!”
Reisen pushed Youmu’s sword to the side with her finger, and replied “Well, then that must mean your Lady sent me, right? It’s the only logical conclusion, so I’d suggest you listen to me.”
Youmu sheathed her swords, her face gradually getting redder. “Well, I-I suppose that makes sense. As long as no one else knows!” Youmu glanced furtively at the two bystanders, who seemed engaged in their own conversation.
Reisen laughed, and reassured youmu, “Don’t worry, no one else does. In any case, the message she would like to give to you is as follows: Youmu, I am very busy doing something extremely dangerous right now, so I want you to be ready to go at any time. For now, stay put until I come back. Have some food prepared as well!” Reisen concluded the dictation with a tap of her heels as she turned around. “Well, that’s it, nice seeing you Youmu!”
Youmu, who was still taking the message in, failed to answer before Reisen had already walked a good distance back to her compatriots. Calling back, she yelled “That’s it? Can’t you tell me more?”, but she received no answer. A little confused as to what happened, she opted for the simple action of sitting down and staring at the ground.
Reisen made her way back to the group, and gave the signal to head back the way they came.
Mokou tapped Reisen on the shoulder, and said "Oh...It must be the bed peeing, right?"
Reisen gave Mokou a weird look. "What? No, what are you talking about?"
Mokou gave a mock sigh, and uttered, "Poor girl..."
Utsuho frowned. "She seems lonely..."
"Oh, hush, you two. We have other places to go. Busy schedule, keep up!" Reisen rushed away from them, towards a destination that only she seemed to know.
Looking back at Youmu, Utsuho then looked at Reisen and followed her, wondering how things were going to turn out.
“SHUT UP!” Marisa felt herself scream as she her eyes opened in a flash, through the blur of her vision she could only see a strange ceiling on top of her, unfamiliar colored blurs of things she couldn’t quite distinguish, much like the kaleidoscopic images in her dreams, danced around her as her eyes looked around in a frenzy. The pain that started biting her back, however, was very clear and she automatically crumpled on herself, clenching her jaw together, suddenly reminded of what had happened. Yuuka, having stolen as many flowers as she could from the front garden, went back into Chireiden and headed back towards the room she had been using for the few days she had been staying there. While the magician had healed Marisa's wounds, it seemed humans still took a long time to recover. As she passed the door of the room which Marisa was resting in, however, there was an unusual commotion. She peaked inside, to see Marisa throwing herself around on the bed. Seija rose from the floor and sighed, she looked around, looking for any source of interest. "Where the hell is everyone else?" The astonished gasps of her pets that up to now had quietly refused to believe in that human's chance of survival brought her back from her half-sleep. What was called the sheer core of her existence quietly wandered its gaze. "So she really lives." "She does live." "Perhaps it's her last struggle." The sound of her books set aside on the table. Tainted marks of half brown tea drew the face of someone she missed. "Quiet, everyone. That human would live." Now that the person she wished to speak to was awake, Yuuka entered the room. Unfortunately, Satori remained sitting at the desk. "Satori, did she just wake up?" "As you saw. It has been rapid." Then, Seija flung open her own door, her footsteps echoing down one of the many corridors, searching for where Satori was. "Satori! I know you can hear my thoughts somewhere!" Yuuka paused for thought. "Marisa, how are you feeling?" Marisa focused her eyes on the green haired person in front of her, her eyes slowly focused to show that that someone was Yuuka. The witch slowly sat down, she could feel sweat rolling down her face as she attempted to look less pathetic. “…Perfectly… fine…” She managed to say through her teeth, wincing. "Saving face, as always. You look like a wilted dandelion. Are you hungry? You've been out for quite a while, although I shouldn't be surprised considering human's typical physical endurance." BANG! Every door that Seija passed, she knocked and paused for a second, waiting for a response. “How many days… was I out?” The magician put her hand over her face, she was forgetting something. "It's been 5 days since Seija and I arrived here, but I believe you were already sleeping before then. Orin tells me you were in a fight with the Ripper." “Yeah… I was…” She removed her hand from her face, eyes growing wide as Yuuka reminded her about it once more. “How is she? And Alice? And Nazrin and Shou? Are they alright?” "Orin's fine, Alice left before I got here. Nazrin left two days ago to take Shou's body back to Myouren Temple." Yuuka glanced at Satori, but then turned back to Marisa and stared, deep in thought. Seija finally stopped banging every single door and sighed heavily. "Maybe I should just ask the next person who I come across, I want to at least talk to her." “’Shou’s… body…’” It felt like she had a lump in her throat, her body started shaking as she balled her hands. “Dammit…” She clenched her teeth. No, she wouldn’t cry this time... Echoed footsteps were finally approaching the area where Yuuka, Satori and Marisa where. "Hello, good people." Yuuka smiled. "Just in time, Seija. Welcome to the party." She felt her chest tightening, that little one's suppressed thoughts, suppressed fears, suppressed hopes- all were like a bomb ready to implode. Behind that one's eyelids she saw tears, deeply, swallowed back inside as if flood rushing through the last dam. And over there, amidst those fields in harvest seasons, there sat that one girl whose tears glistened like golden rice. Whose tears, were, streaming, like a golden river... As golden, as shining, as that certain someone else... "Miss Kirisame, please contain yourself, your recovery was already a miracle." Look who she is now crying for, Alice. "Please understand sacrifices are inevitable." Just that... you won't be able to, as literally as it might become, see this. Pitiful, sad little Alice... “I don’t want anyone to die! What was her sacrifice for, then, tell me?!” That anger, the anger that came from nowhere was starting to boil inside of her once again. Marisa gritted her teeth. It hurt to talk, it hurt even more to yell but she didn’t care. “Was anyone’s sacrifice so far worth it?! We haven’t stopped it! It’s still attacking people, it’s still killing people!” The sound of tomes thick with bitterness and strife gliding on the desk, echoed between the sound of her footsteps thin with sorrow, neared the space between her and that little one, distanced the space between their hearts. All of her world's troubles weighed down on her knees, as she leveled her eyes with that little one crumbling on the bed. She felt that one's gaze, glowing faintly, as if clinging to an answer she told herself. "You are correct. Her sacrifices for you, weren't worth it." So close, so close, she could feel that one's breath, the marks of excessive tears on that one's face. "Then, to this one that could see without eyes, and for the one that will also never see again without eyes, Miss Kirisame, what will you do now?" The little one drown in a pool of regrets. "For, you see. Your little story... The one that kills people, that hurts people, that pushes them away, that puts them in a fate more painful than death, isn't necessarily that malicious, faraway antagonist you think about." Seija remained silent the entire time, watching Satori. Marisa glared at the mind reader. “’Her sacrifices’…? Can you stop talking in riddles and go straight to the point? Who exactly are you talking about, Satori?” She could feel her stomach churn. “And you have no idea who’s behin---“ The blonde trailed off. Who was it again? Her hand found itself trembling on her face once again, her eyes wide in realization. She was sure she knew it, she knew it… how could she forget? ’Why….?!’ "So, are you ladies going to argue like a married couple or are you going to start kissing?" Seija smirked as she saw the commotion. Yuuka clapsed her hands together, pushed them between Satori and Marisa and brought them apart, pushing the girls away from each other with the backs of her hands. "No kissing yet, come on now. Satori, if you have anything meaningful to say, say it clearly. If not, I'd like a word with Marisa..." Her voice became harsh and very serious, "... privately. " Yuuka persisted in clouding her mind with various kinds of flowers. As she spoke, the fields filled with Asclepias Curassavica, commonly known as the bloodflower. "Oh hey, Satori, I'd like to have a nice loooooooong chat with you, of course, far far faaar away from this room." Seija piped and then added. "I have your tea collection, so you'd better come." As if their interference's timing could be any worse. Yet, forcefully pushed back as she was, through that one's firm palm, she saw fears, flaring up burning the throats of theirs like the flames relentlessly seeking for air. Pained thoughts flew over her head, streaming like crimson, as if with each of the questions went an arrow to the mind. "...If there's someone that should leave, I think that will have to be my dear guests here." The tattered golden locks slightly rubbed on her nose as she carefully, softened her voice, whispering to that one's ears. "And the one intervening with your crucial memory, Miss Kirisame." Marisa’s shocked look didn’t leave her as an echo persisted in her ears. Soon she would forget, it said. Without removing her hand from her face, she glared at the purple haired girl, piercing the other one’s eyes with her look, only made more intense by their proximity. “And why… should I trust you?” ’You haven’t answered my question, Satori.’ "Because I have no question that I need you to answer, Kirisame." And for a single moment, in the depth of purple, she saw her golden self's reflection distorting, deforming into a teary puddle. To the point their foreheads nearly touched, their breaths nearly fused, Satori never stopped relentlessly closing in. "~Ah, sinking into a muddy trap, but the truth is still t r a c e l e s s. ~Ah, keep on searching for a reply, the answer still can't be h e l d". The song of that sad, little one, tainted with blood that mere night, attempted to fill in the blank of that golden one's vision. "What you are unaware of is like the sea, Kirisame. It's simply your choice, whether to dive deep or stay shallow." The witch smirked humorlessly in reply. “Is it fun,” She started. “Komeiji, to know what goes on others’ minds? I know you’re enjoying every minute of this. I asked you a single question and all I can hear are empty poetic words. 'If you’re a mind-reader' “You should know I have no patience to play along with your games.” Now was her time to inch at Satori, forehead touching the other girl’s. “If I didn’t want to venture into the depths, being my question or this incident, I wouldn’t be here in the first place. If you’re too dense to understand that even with your mind-reading powers, then you’re beyond salvation.” She inched back, her gaze never leaving Satori’s. ‘And if you have no questions for me then’ “Why are we still talking? Seija wants a word with you. Didn’t your mom ever teach you it’s impolite to leave your guests waiting?” Marisa was frustrated, the fact she had seemingly forgotten her lead angered her, but in that moment, that moment alone, she took satisfaction on the fact that not even Satori could know the answer. Such a wild child. And yet, it was this wildness, all of it, no matter how tough it was, no matter how insolent it was, that charmed creatures into life. "If you are the one seeking for answers in others- You should know who gets to decide to have patience or not." And yet, it's that same thing, that pushed her, that pushed them, out of their golden path. "Questions to answer, goals to fulfill, memories to awaken." , her hands won't stop meddling with that little one's braids, "Ask the right question and I will give you them all. For that little, sad golden person, whose tears you are living on." The standoff between Satori and Marisa was frustrating Yuuka, not least because she was being ignored. If Satori would not leave on her own accord, some more force may be required. Yuuka stepped forward, leaned back, and swung a precise punch towards Satori's forehead. Half malicious intention gushed straight to her face without warning. Her feet slipped on the floor on sheer intuition, pulling her own weight forward, yet still barely evaded such brute force. The strike itself brought with it a clear, wordless warning, shook her head up figuratively, and literally. "How bold, Kazami..." Through her eyes that struggled to identify with her brain juggling inside, she saw that one, perhaps still ready for more. "No matter what motive you have with you, to execute such brutally caring actions, Kazami" , barely reaching that bold one's chest, she still felt her head held high, "Do bear in mind that I keep with myself the answer to this little one's little questions." The rummaging footsteps, and ghostly howls of chaotic pets, quietly slipped through the cracks of the door. "I may have something to give the big one's big questions as well." "You wanna play games, huh, Komeji?" Yuuka shifted her feet into a fighting position. "Here are my rules. You leave, and you don't get hurt, or I knock you out. I think I'm being quite generous." Orin appeared in the doorway, and slammed the doorway. She seemed out of breath. "Satori-sama?!! What's going on?" Yuuka used the slight distraction to bring her other fist up aiming, once again, for Satori's head. However, just before reaching her, Yuuka's hand ground to a halt. Arm outstretched, her hand remained clenched. But inside the fist was a tall stalk with a large, round, yellow flower at the top. Yuuka's eyes focused directly on Satori's, and she remained steady for an uncomfortable period of time.
