Rule #1 about Fight Club - Don't talk about Fight Club.
Yuuka looked at all of them but her eyes still focused on Koishi. There was blood in the knife and she knew it that wasn’t an illusion. The small satori wagged her finger. “You shouldn’t be paying attention to me, silly!” She moved the skull in her hand again. “For now, I’m just watching!” She added with a smile. Out of reflex, the flower youkai dodged an anchor, as it slowly swung at her. “Yeah, I hope ye’r payin’ attention!” Another chuckle and the now dangerous red orbs fixated menacingly on the people in front of her. She opened the palm of her hand and in an instant, a spark beam shoot towards both Seija and Murasa. Seija glided to the right, avoiding the beam as she landed on her feet gracefully, in retaliation, she summoned arrows around her skirt, six arrows, all were a bright shade of blue acted like a shield. She smirked at Yuuka. “Seems like old times, but this time…” She glided forward, bringing her arm down in a cross formation as all six arrows flew across the room, going to smash into Yuuka’s chest at high speeds. “…Dodge this!” Yuuka moved her umbrella to shield herself from the attacks, but out of nowhere came a green projection of the sailor who, with a smirk, hit the object full force sending it to the other side of the room. All the time the green haired youkai had was used to shield herself with her arms. “Ehehe…” Yuuka started with barely contained anger, her arms riddled with arrows, blood trailing down them onto the ground. “I suppose I should stop playing then…” Without so much as a movement, from under the ground burst a bunch of sunflowers, slithering through the air like snakes, sharp teeth on the middle as if they were semi-fly traps. Then started giving chase to her enemies. "Aw shit!" Seija/Yui jerked to the side as the flowers from hell rose, she skillfully leaped up into the sky, looking around as a single fly trap began to give chase. She flicked her wrist gracefully as she went to puncture the fly trap full of arrows in an attempt to kill it. The flytrap ate the arrows as if they were insects and continued chasing Seija. Murasa jumped and smacked one that was about to snag the amanojaku’s leg. “Hey, I’m not ya damn babysitter, pay attention to yer surro---“ And something resembling an oversized ivy, wrapped itself on the ghosts ankle, pulling her down into the ground at an incredible speed. “Woaaah!” "Maybe you should watch out!" She fired even more arrows at the source of the hell, firing them at Yuuka, before turning to fire them at the oversized ivy, with no physical weapons, all she had was her arrows, and her spellcards to deal with these plants from hell. The plants shield Yuuka from the arrows and she pointed her hand at Seija once more as she was distracted with the ivies, the beam, similar to a master spark, soared towards the amanojaku once again. "Hol-" She couldn't even finish her sentence as she was caught in the beam, being blasted into a wall, but she was still very much alive. "One spark won't pick me off like the last person you murdered Yuuka..." She grinned smugly as she clicked her fingers, within an instant, everything reversed, the ceiling became the floor and everything in the room was reversed. "Let’s play my game." The flip of the arena didn’t seem to affect Yuuka. The youkai simply stood floating while her plants continued the onslaught. Her eyes searched the satori in the middle of the mess of leaves and plants. "Well fuck, that didn't go to plan... Oh well!" She began to causally float around the arena with ease, flicking her wrist to fire arrows that would fire upwards, but due to how gravity was working, they fell down with ease, exploding when they touched the floor, sending energy shrapnel across the room in random directions. Koishi casually dodged some of the shrapnel and, before she had time to react, she was caught by one of the ivies. The flower youkai approached her, red eyes burning with anger. “What did you do?” The satori didn’t look worried at her predicament, the knife and skull fell to the ground as the leafy trap constricted on her. “Whatever do you mean?” She tilted her head cutely to the side. Another pull of her hands, and the youkai had the ivy constrict even more. “Don’t play dumb. I will kill you.” A creepy smirk formed on Koishi’s face, her fearless green eye staring into Yuuka’s own. “You shouldn’t have hurt my sister.” Was her simple reply. The green youkai didn’t care much about anyone, she had always found that relationships without anything to gain from them where pointless, a mere distraction to the boredom of life that would never take too long to dispel itself. But Yuuka hated it. She hated it when others broke her things, when others took their tools from her. And now, this… this insignificant display of a youkai had taken Elly from her. Suddenly, like a speeding bullet, Seija/Yui flew towards Yuuka, her fist outright, as she approached the ivies, she screamed. "LET GO OF HER!" Something began to charge in her hands, it was acting like a charge up for a spark "ARROW SIGN [ ARROW SPARK!]" She screamed as multitude of arrows flew out of her hand, all of them aimed directly for Yuuka. The arrows all buried on Yuuka’s chest, she wobbled back, coughing blood, but still standing. Anger was dripping from her eyes as she looked at Seija. The aura of murderous intent was so intense one could probably cut it with a knife. “What exactly is happening here?” Came the stern, completely unamused, commanding voice of Byakuren. She landed in the reversed land "Oh you know, trying to kill the person who broke my legs, y'know." Yuuka stopped on her tracks and looked at the monk. “You will stop fighting this instant.” Her eyes shifted from Yuuka to Seija. “Revert it to normal.” "Alright, alright, but prepare for the drop" She clicked her fingers and everything returned to normal, as expected, everything and everyone, save for Yuuka dropped to the floor. The flower youkai clenched her hands into fists. She would take every single one of the small fries by herself, but not Byakuren, the monk was another opponent entirely. “What is the meaning of this?” “Miss Flower Power Youkai wanted to do something to the Sun God Goddess.” Koishi pointed out. “She’s friends with Mister Rips, I could see it in her mind.” A smiled appeared on her lips. “Naughty, naughty~” Byakuren didn’t even say anything, she moved her hands as if summoning something, a sigil appeared under Yuuka and, with a look of surprise stamped on her face, she disappeared from their view. "And there she goes..." Seija replied as she looked at Byakuren with a tone that seemed to appear that she felt sorry. "Sorry for wrecking your temple... Again." The monk nodded negatively, a serious look on her face. “If you had let her inside, she could’ve done something worse. Buddha knows what could’ve happened.” She smiled. “You three did a good job. You have my thanks.” "Was she here... to harm people?!" Seija acted shocked, unaware of this development. "And where the hell did you send her?!" “Maybe not harm but…” Koishi started, a finger on her chin. “She was here to do something to the goddess. I don’t think it was something good.” “I sent her someplace else not even she can escape from. I’ll interrogate her about it, maybe we will finally have solid clues to solve this Incident…” Byakuren said with a faltering smile, remembering Shou. "Good luck with that one, she'd rather gut you than speak to you I bet." Seija said. “We shall see, I suppose.” Byakuren did a little bow and left. Half-buried in the ground, Murasa looked at Byakuren walking away. “That… was a thing.” "That was indeed a thing. Sorry for being an idiot and getting you caught like that..." Seija sighed as she felt like something had finally gone right in her life once. The captain shrugged. “I’m a ghost.” She phased from the ground and landed on the ground. “I can get out whenever I wanna.” “So…” The satori started. “Can we go eat something? My tummy is grumbling.” "We're in a temple, I'm sure Byakuren has some food tucked away, be reasonable though." She laughed at Koishi's comment.

Look, it's Mary Poppins!
“My name is Yuki, the witch.” She remembered smiling. “And I’m on my pajamas so excuse me, I’m changing to my clothes.” Feigning embarrassment, she rushed inside to her home, leaving the three Gensokyans behind.
Back against the door, she looked to the letter, eyes growing more serious, she reread the last bit in her mind.
‘I needn’t tell you to take Mai with you, you’re the only one who can convince her. Taking into consideration the trouble we had last time and how strong she has become, you two need to take even more precautions and…’
She was sure the ice witch would be angered at her for helping them, but if she had the gall to ask her help on top of that, Mai would certainly hate her, she would never speak with her ever again or even look at her face.
That was the sole thing, the only thing Yuki wished never happened.
The sigil started burning, flames slowly making their way upwards, and Gengetsu quickly stood up, trying to move but being hold in place.
“Sorry. But it would be troublesome for me if you underestimate me.” Her eyes narrowed. “And even more troublesome for you.”
The young vampire stopped in her tracks as she saw the black-white witch flying away, carrying the puppeteer with her. She looked sadly as Marisa disappeared from her sight. Eventually, Flan shook her head and turned to look towards the makaian witch and the winged person. "Heey! Yuki! Need a hand with her?!"
“No. You came here to help Marisa, didn’t you? Then go.” There was no anger or resentment in her voice.
Gengetsu looked at Yuki, an amused expression on her face as she saw perspiration forming on the witch’s forehead.
“Say… Why is it that you came here to die?” The one winged girl asked as Yuki started whispering words under her breath. “Because you have no friends? Because you were always pushed away?” Her eyes looked at the sigil, realizing the flames were starting to waver. “Because all you ever done was hurt others?”
“Eek, stay back, she’s going to burn everything!” The demon girl on her right screeched as the benches and tables on the library were set ablaze.
All the kids huddled back, avoiding the rapidly spreading fire.
Yellow eyes stared at the flames surrounding her, and then at her own hands, tears swelling and trailing down her eyes.
She wanted to tell them she wasn’t doing it on purpose, she wanted to tell that she didn’t know what triggered it. But had told them so many times before and no one would had believed it.
Time and time again, her powers would go wild, seemingly without a prompt. Flames would flare out of her body and burn anything they touched. Having seen others being unfortunate enough to suffer the wrath of one of Yuki’s magical mishaps, the kids had decided to simply stay away. It was her fault that she did that, what was she thinking, purposely hurting others? What an evil person. Not to be trusted. Why was she learning magic with them anyway? Dangerous beasts belonged in cages.
Lady Shinki had explained to her that she was unstable. Yuki didn’t really understand what she meant with that, but the silver haired woman had such a guilty look in her eyes it made the girl even more confused. But Shinki’s words brought no comfort. She knew the woman meant well when she tried to help her see past it, but words would never change reality.
“But I know you’re too much of a coward to even die properly.” Gengetsu saw the sigil break for a second, and a second was all it took. Without even moving, a purple sigil overwrote Yuki’s, and with a swift movement, a beam flew against the witch.
But as quick as it was, a magical shield was equally as quickly cast, and the beam hit it full force, sending witch stumbling back with a yelp.
“Alone, you’re an ant, waiting to get squashed.”
'That makaian girl...' Ellen, who had barely overheard what the winged devil said, was rubbing her chin, lost in thought. 'I... I guess there's more to her than meets the eye, huh?' she chuckled slightly. 'I guess we witches are kind of cursed to suffer hate constantly...' the blonde witch soon rose up from her hiding spot and hurried over to where Flan was.
The young vampire, on the other hand, was staring at the makaian witch, eyes open wide. 'She... She's just like...' she quickly took out a spellcard. "Taboo [Golden Fruit of the Hesperides]!" upon the spellcard's declaration, a bunch of golden orbs appeared behind Flandre. The orbs quickly flew towards the winged devil, and when they were close enough, they exploded into a hail of danmaku.
With wide movement of her arm, the devil deflected the danmaku away. There was a disgusted look on her face. Then her eyes fixated themselves on the love potion witch.
“Eeh…” Despite no other words left her mouth, her expression was pretty clear. It silently asked ‘how are you still alive?’, then there was a moment of realization, and her eyes narrowed, her aura shifted again to one of murderous intent. “Where is she?” The girl asked, looking intently to Ellen.
Ellen tilted her head, smiling slightly. "She? Who are you talking about?"
“Oni Sign [Tsuna’s Lightning Blade]!” The oni behind the devil swung her arm down with a clap of lightning. The blonde hopped out of harm’s way by an inch and watched as the ground where she had stood got slashed in half, as if the pink haired arm had briefly become a sword.
The winged one hit her heel on the ground with a crazed smile. “Finally.”
A green sigil formed near Kasen and a dark, rocky spike broke through the rock as if it was part of a hedgehog lying dormant under the ground. With reflexes equally as quick, Kasen tilted her head out of the way, the spike still managing to draw blood on her cheek.
Crazed yellow eyes stared at the hermit as a satisfied chuckle escaped their owner’s lips. “I will take my time with you.”
A wide smirked formed on Kasen’s features. “Ain’t it funny, I was thinkin’ the same thing!”

This collab is long as all hell, just saying. "Love Sign [Cupid's Enticing Arrow]!" The blonde witch declared a spellcard, and with it a bunch of heart-pointed arrows flew towards the winged devil at a very high speed. "Nuh-uh~. Sorry to tell you, Ms.Winged Devil, but I think you're going to have to deal with more opponents than just Ms.Hermit over there. I mean..." she cracked her knuckles. "I'm not all too happy about you almost killing me, you know? Although..." she looked around. "Now that I think about it... You're quite outnumbered, aren't you? I mean, we're 2 witches, 1 oni and 1 vampire against... well. You." she winked towards the makaian witch. If the devil had easily avoided Flandre’s danmaku, in Ellen’s case she didn’t even look at them. Eye still locked on Kasen, smirk plastered on her face, she slammed her remaining wing against them, swatting them away as if they were insects. “Amusing. Ants are ants. One of them, two of them, three of them… It doesn’t matter. Then can all be squashed with just a single stomp.” She grinned at the oni in front of her. Then a red light engulfed her, quickly building up until it exploded with a deafening boom. Gengetsu jumped back, the fabric of her shirt had melted itself with the skin in her arms as she had shielded her face from damage. The remaining wing had been half exploded in the process. Letting her arms slump down, the devil’s eyes finally removed themselves from Kasen and stopped on Yuki. The flames hugging the witch seemed to grow more intense each passing second. “What happens to flies, then, when their wings are plucked away?” Her voice was tinged with barely contained anger. “Aren’t they as easily squashed?” Seizing the opportunity, Kasen lunged at the devil once again, a claw starting to twitch away from the bandages, but as she swung her arm, she lost balance and swaying to the side she clumsily fell on the ground in what would’ve been comical if it wasn’t for the situation they were in. The young vampire took out a spellcard and charged straight towards the devil. "Demon Sword [Dáinsleif]!" her trademark weapon coated itself in a scarlet aura, gaining the shape of a long sword. She grasped the scarlet-colored sword with both hands, and swung it at Gengetsu with all the strength she could muster. The blonde witch sighed upon seeing Flandre materialize that sword. 'Ah... It's at times like these when I wish I was a more combat-focused witch...' she thought, before quickly creating a bunch of magic circles that began firing lasers and heart-shaped bullets towards the winged devil. Gengetsu was expecting Flandre’s attack and she jumped back to avoid it. Or so was her plan, but a strong bandaged hand grabbed her ankle and she lost balance, the sword swiftly zipped down slashing her across the chest and the ground bellow. Blood splattered all over while the devil’s eyes trembled in a silent scream. Gritting her teeth in pain and anger, she pointed her hand as she was falling, still, and shoot an energy blast point black at the vampire. Red, fire runes danced in front of Flandre and as the blast connected to it, it quickly deflected the attack back at Gengetsu, sending her frying off for the second time. "[True Divine Spear: Blue Tierce]!" The scarlet sword Flandre was carrying broke into small, scarlet-colored, fragments of energy. The fragments morphed into small spears, a few of them changing colors until forming a small rainbow. With a movement of Flandre's hand, the spears all flew at high speed towards Gengetsu. "Alluring Mist [Love Token]!" The moment Ellen declared the spellcard, a spinning magic circle formed right under the winged devil. The circle began creating a thick pink mist all around her, clouding her vision. Yuki stood in there, looking at the charging vampire, her chest going up and down as her breathing good progressively more labored. No, it wasn’t right. This wasn’t right. Something was surely off. This was easy, too easy. “Hey, Kasen… What did you do to Mugetsu’s…” Her eyes shifted to the hermit who was now on her knees baring all the looks of someone that wasn’t alright. Hand over her pale face, there was droplets of sweat freely sliding down her face. “H-hey… are you ok?” “I don’t think so… I don’t…” She felt sick to her stomach. A yellow dome formed around Gengetsu, effectively shielding her fallen form from the spears. The sharp objects broke through the thick mist and rained on the shield, cracking it slowly as the devil sit up, cleaning the blood from her broken mouth. Yuki hadn’t sensed anything, no magical interferences, no spells. Then, what would… Eyes widening as the pieces connected in her head, she rushed to the spike Gengetsu had summoned earlier. It wasn’t even needed to look at the tiny, green droplets trailing down the tip, the melting rocks on the ground were indicator enough.

Flandre continued spawning more rainbow-colored spears and firing them towards the barrier that was protecting Gengetsu, her crimson eyes burning with fury.
Ellen let out a loud sigh, before shifting her eyes over to the pale hermit. The blonde witch's eyes widened, and she rushed over to her aid. "H-hey! Kasen! Are you okay?! What's the matter?!" she noticed the makaian witch over at the spike, and yelled at her. "Yuki! What is wrong with her?!"
Gengetsu stood up, the grin on her face widening as she looked at the screeching dome, it was too bad the vampire couldn’t see her expression now.
The hermit simply focused on trying to keep herself from blacking out, not really listening to what was being said or done.
“Poison.” Yuki replied her trembling eyes fixated on the droplets as her mind automatically reach the conclusion that no normal poison could hurt most youkai, let alone oni in specific. “Basilisk poison…” She elaborated in a quieter voice.
"B-b-basilisk..." Ellen stuttered, and her hands started trembling. 'No... It can't be...' she looked towards the young vampire who was still firing towards the shield Gengetsu had projected. "We... We need to get out of here, but if we tell Flan... Chances are she's going to charge straight towards Gengetsu, hungering for revenge..." Her voice was shaky.
Yuki looked at Kasen and then at Ellen, her eyes the complete opposite of her flames. “We can’t retreat, that’s not an option.”
"What are you saying?!" she yelled at Yuki. "'Retreat is not an option'?! Are you insane?! Would you rather leave Kasen untreated and let her die in agony!?"
Completely unfazed by the outburst, the fire witch kept looking at Ellen. “That’s not what I’m saying.” Her jaws clamped up for a second, she analyzed her fellow witch’s frantic expression. “Gengetsu never studied poisons.” She never did, yet she had always used all means to achieve her goals. “If you are ignorant about how to properly use them and you don’t want to risk getting yourself killed due to your inexperience then…” She turned at the dome. “you’d keep the antidote on you at all times."
"A-ah... Yeah, I guess you're right..." Ellen lowered her head in embarrassment. "So... We need to get it out of her hands... Any ideas, Ms.Makaian Witch?"
Yuki clenched her hands. “We can’t attack her any longer than we already have… If she had that in a vial…” The witch seemed to be getting nervous. “I can restrict her movements and seal her away… It’s… I…”
It hadn’t worked the first time she tried. It hadn’t worked because Gengetsu was right.
Alone she…
“If I could seal her away… she wouldn’t be able to do anything, her body would just be a shell and” her anxiousness was growing and she looked everything but sure of herself. “we could then search her clothes for it and we wouldn’t even need to physically kill her…” Yuki continued talking but at that point it was just nervous babble.
Ellen put her hands on her hips and smiled. "And you can't seal her just by yourself, right?" she giggled. "I can try to lend you a hand then. I mean, I'm not well-versed in sealing spells but I'm sure I can do something."
The sound was telling, it tell her of the trajectory of the spears and as consequence, that told her where her target was. Gengetsu listened intently as the dome began to break apart.
Looking at Ellen, Yuki forced a smile.
Time went on and as it’s customary of it, things came and went and so did people.
A lot of them had gone, pursuing their studies elsewhere, others would leave realizing magic wasn’t their thing, and an equal number would join.
From the charred desk at the end of the library, Yuki watched with slight interest the new apprentices as they introduced themselves and proceeded to choose their sitting places. There was nothing new about that view, it had repeated itself countless times before and as such she was only half-paying attention.
“Hey. Is someone sitting there?”
Yuki blinked and looked up from her book to the blue haired girl staring nonchalantly at her. Taken by surprise by the prompt, she took one second to collect herself. It seemed she wasn’t the only one as the older apprentices all turned around on their sits to look at the poor soul who had chosen her for deskmate.
Giving an apologetic smile, Yuki replied. “You really shouldn’t stay next to me… I’m a bit clumsy and sometimes I have trouble controlling my powers and…” She looked at the charred desk, hoping that it would fill in the rest of the information.
But the girl simply continued to stare at her. “Right. So, is there someone sitting there or not?”
“No, but…” Yuki wasn’t sure if the girl had understood what she meant or if she had to explain it better, but before she could continue, the blue hair interrupted her.
“Great.” And she unceremoniously sat down next to her.
“Ah… uh…” Yuki’s head slowly turned to her book again. “Okay…”
“What’s your name?” She heard the aloof voice ask after a few minutes of silence.
Yuki, used to being alone, jumped on her seat. “Y-yuki.”
“Are you always this jumpy, Yuki?” The girl asked.
“Ah… n-no, not really…” The witch said with a sheepish smile.
“Good.” And then after a pause. “My name is Mai, by the way.”
The blonde smiled. “Nice to meet you, Mai!”
And for the first time in her life she felt cold.
A loud noise made both Yuki and Ellen turn towards Flan, the dome came undone but from the inside. Breaking through magical glass and mist alike, a huge beam zipped through the air, aiming at the vampire.
Flandre didn't have enough time to react properly to the counterattack. She covered her face with her arms, and took the full force of the beam. She let out a scream of pain as the beam hit her, and the force of it made her fall down to the floor. She lied there, unconscious.
"Flan!" the blonde witch cried as she took out a spellcard, ready to fire against the winged devil. However, she did nothing more than stand there. Yuki was right, if they kept attacking her, there was a chance they might destroy the antidote. 'Dammit...!' she put the spellcard back in her pockets.
“FLAN!” This time it was Kasen, suddenly awaken from her semi-conscious state by the young vampire’s scream, she slowly stood up, teeth clenched. She clumsily rushed to the vampire, stumbling and nearly falling a bunch of times.
“Don’t move! The poison will spread fas… Tch…” Yuki resigned herself and turned to glared at the dissipating mist.
“Flan!” The hermit held the vampire in her arms, eyes full of worry as she looked at the wounds she had sustained.
Gengetsu chuckled as she stepped out of the mist. “So you care for her. That’s interesting. Maybe I should start with her, make you watch and then kill you next.”
Fangs bared, the hermit was replaced by the oni who, despite her state, looked ready to pounce.

Ellen clenched her fists as she watched the scene. She turned her head slightly to look at Yuki, and spoke to her in a low tone. "Yuki... What do you need to seal that winged devil?" Gengetsu stepped out of the mist, chuckling lightly.
Clenching her hands into fists, Yuki grit her teeth.
She knew what it was needed...
“Mai, Good morning!” Came Yuki’s cheerful voice followed by the obligatory hug.
“Good morning.” Was Mai’s usual unenthusiastic greeting as she lost count to the times she wondered if the blonde had ever been introduced to the concept of personal space.
Time continued to pass and Yuki had gotten used to Mai’s cold demeanor, and Mai to Yuki’s bubbly and clingy nature. To anyone’s eyes the two girls had become inseparable.
It was a symbiosis of two pole-opposite people.
Yuki was the happiest she had ever been. Her bursts of auto-combustion had ceased completely, she had no idea if the lack of control on her part had been something emotional or mental, but her gut told her that Mai balanced her out. It turned out that the blue haired girl was a witch well versed in ice magic and the coldness that naturally exuded from her body had become a foil to the blonde’s wild fire power. And suddenly she didn’t need to worry she’d accidently hurt someone, Mai included.
They formed an amazing team, together they were a force to be reckoned with and when sparring matches were up no one wanted to face the ‘Freezer Burn Duo’. When fighting, they had a synergy that was rare to find, almost as if they read each other’s thoughts and moved accordingly.
And that was why, when Gengetsu and Mugetsu ran amok with Lady Shinki away, they were the ones tasked with sealing them. None else could. Not Yumeko, not Louise. Together as one they were the only ones who could manage.
“Do you know any immobilizing spell?” Yuki started lowly, eyes fixated on Gengetsu.
Ellen nodded slowly. "It's thunder-based, so it might sting her a bit, but I don't think you'll mind that much~. ... It's quite basic, though. So if you need something advanced..."
“As long as it works, it gives me time to prepare the sealing spell. When I start it she’ll get immobilized anyway and you can focus on sealing her too then.” The makaian witch replied as she narrowed her eyes.
Gengetsu looked at them and raised her hand to her shoulder level and shoot another of her beams.
“Look out!” Yuki jumped out of the way as she saw the devil looking at her in the eyes, smirking amused.
Ellen took off to the skies as soon as she saw the beam firing. Once she was high enough, she put her right hand behind her back, two fingers out, and began tracing a magic sigil in the air with it, all the while she was muttering some words under her breath. Her left hand was holding a spellcard. 'Let's hope this works...'
Yuki started running towards Gengetsu as she pointed her index finger at her. She said something in makaian and fireballs started raining down on her.
The devil dodge someone them and blew the others apart with her left hand, pointing the right at Yuki once again. “Just give up. I’ll give you all a quick death.”
Ellen finished tracing the magic sigil, and immediately snapped her fingers.
A golden magic circle formed under Gengetsu, and almost immediately, electrical surges at high voltages started to run all over her body, paralyzing it. Ellen landed quickly near Yuki. "I dunno how long the spell is going to last so start sealing her already!"
Gengetsu clenched her teeth as electric surges danced all over her muscles, she fell to her knees and her anger filled orbs looked at both witches.
Without so much as a nod, Yuki started whispering something, the flames around her whirled wildly generating a gust of warm wind, warning Ellen it was probably a good idea to stand back.
The sigil she had casted the first time reappeared under Gengetsu and it started glowing, the glow increasing to each pronounced words.
The devil, however, chuckled despite the painful shock. “Again? You’re too weak!”
But Yuki refused to listen, she kept enunciating her incantation.
Ellen took a few steps back when she saw Yuki starting to cast the spell. She then turned to face Gengetsu, a hand on her hip. "She may be weak, yeah. But she's not the one being shocked and unable to defend herself, is she~?" she giggled.
The sigil started glowing stronger with Yuki still whispering words, her flames starting to increase even more and strain plastering itself on her face. Her limbs were trembling and she was visibly having more difficulty to keep the spell going than she had had the first time.
Gengetsu chuckled as her body regained its control. “Has no one ever told you to gloat only when you’re absolutely sure you’ve won?” The devil looked completely unaffected by what was going on.
Ellen gritted her teeth as she saw Gengetsu starting to break free from the spell she had casted. Her eyes shifted to look at the makaian witch. "Yuki, please hold in there a little longer...!" she turned over to look at the winged devil again and began drawing a magic sigil in the air as fast as she could, attempting to strengthen the paralyzing spell.
Gengetsu looked at Yuki, who was closing her eyes with effort, getting harder and harder for to keep focus. If it wasn’t for the flames around her, she would be drenched in sweat.
Kasen had attempted to stand up but she really couldn’t anymore. Her head was hanging down, her limp hands still feebly holding the young vampire’s.

The devil looked at Ellen’s frantic preparation for the spell, she smirked amused. “You’re sure that will stop me a second time?” Ellen finished drawing the sigil and fell silent. "... Honestly? No. I'm not sure this will work. But... Mark my words when I say that, should the spell fail, I would try my hardest to not let you kill anyone present in this area. I don't care if you come from Makai or if you are insanely strong or whatever. I am not going to let you kill those who I consider my friends. ... And I think I made that clear the moment I interrupted the attack you fired towards Kasen last time we met. So... at the very least... Even if I don't fully believe this will work..." the blonde witch closed her eyes, ready to face whatever would happen after this. "I'd say that this is worth a try." she snapped her fingers, the sigil disappeared and the golden magic circle under Gengetsu grew a little larger and started glowing brighter than before. *BGM: None* The golden sigil cracked loudly, sending red sparks as it began to disturb the red one under it. The devil smiled looking at Yuki, as if enjoying the moment. In a flash, Yuki reopened her eyes and they went wide as she realized what had happened. Both sigils broke in a spectacular show of fireworks and screeching sounds and Gengetsu hit the ground with her heel with a flourish akin to a dance move. Another black crystal like spike burst from the ground mere inches from the makaian’s witch feet, and without a second to react, it impaled her in the abdomen, raising her off from the ground. The girl didn’t even let out a single sound, she couldn’t, there was blood spilling out of her mouth and falling to the rocky ground underneath. Her face was contorted in pain and her eyes trembled in a silent scream while her hands weakly tried to hold the spike for leverage. Blood trailed down from the crystal, being guided by gravity and Gengetsu admired it as if that was her master piece. With a small twirl, she turned back to Ellen, a please smirk on her lips, her face the pure expression of someone who was sadistically deriving pleasure out of what was happening. “Thanks for setting me free, I couldn’t really move in that sealing sigil.” Yellow orbs enjoyed the shock evident on the other’s expression. “Any magician worth her name would now that a sealing spell can’t be disturbed. Casting a spell before the seal is casted is all well and good but…” She feigned sadness. “Trying to modify anything in it once the seal has been cast is a no no…” She looked at the struggling Yuki with a smile. “Isn’t it right, Yuki-chan?” The blonde witch's eyes widened in terror as she stepped away from the winged devil slowly. "You... you..." she brought her trembling hand to the pocket where she was keeping her spellcards. She had ruined everything. The winged devil was taunting her and she stupidly ignored Yuki's words and tore their whole plan to shreds. And now because of that, she, Yuki, Kasen and Flan... They were all going to... The spellcard she had just taken out fell to the ground, and Ellen started whimpering, her eyes glimmering with tears. "Please..." With a loud thud, Yuki managed to break the tip of the crystal and fall to the ground. Coughing and hacking blood she turned to the side, trying to catch her breath. Gengetsu spared a look at the fire witch and then turned to Ellen again. “My, my… Where did all your conceit go?” She chuckled amused. “Had you simply died the first time, it would’ve been quite painless in comparison to what’s going to happen now.” Her had pointed at Ellen and energy started gathering in her palm. But then, a sigil slithered under her once again. It was red, but it wasn’t simply a manifestation of magic, it was blood. The devil fell on her knees as if gravity had suddenly pulled her down to the ground and forced her to get on all her fours as if there was an invisible foot stepping on her. “Blood… magic?” The devil eyes were wide, but she couldn’t move her head to even look at the caster. “T-that’s right…” Yuki raised her head, her eyes were now deep, blood red. There was a pool of blood under her, and from it a small trail of blood had magically dragged itself to Gengetsu and formed the sigil. “Blood magic…” “Eh…” Gengetsu tried to sound nonchalant, she was full aware of how that kind of magic work. “And now we’re in a stalemate.” “No… we aren’t…” The witch struggled to speak. “Now… I’ll kill you…” “And kill yourself in the process?” The devil chuckled. “Didn’t…you say… I came here to die…?” Yuki started. Shit has been fucked up quite nicely. This is why you should always listen to what people say.

Inseparable, that was what everyone thought they were.
Maybe Yuki herself had thought so too. But when they finished their studies, Mai became more distant and despite her efforts to stop it from happening, the blue haired witch didn’t seem too keen on that.
And so she decided to go live in the lighthouse near the sea. No one lived nearby, the air, filled with humidity, helped make her flame outbursts less frequent and she enjoyed the sound of the waves. They were calming.
“You thought… I was too cowardly for that?”
Being alone was a matter of getting used to… once again. She had figured.
But now she couldn’t get used to it. She didn’t know what it was or why it happened, something inside of her hurt. It was the kind of pain that wasn’t searing, but was always there, hurting faintly yet ever present. It hurt.
Tears started trailing down her eyes but she forced a victorious smile.
“Didn’t you imply I had no friends?”
Mai came to visit from time to time. It was a rare occurrence. The girl would find her no matter where Yuki was, she didn’t know how she did that and never bothered asking.
The ice witch would barely utter a word, letting Yuki do the monologues and then leaving.
Yuki wondered why she bothered to visit at all.
And it still hurt. And Yuki had nothing to do to stop it from hurting.
She valued their friendship so much and yet… yet… Maybe it was just her.
She hid herself behind a mask of cheerfulness and decided to never leave thinking that, at least… at the very least…
It had been fun playing friends with Mai.
“You’re right… I don’t…” Yuki forced a bigger smile, the tears never stopping. “So… tell me… what would stop me?”
The blonde witch's whimpers stopped the moment Gengetsu dropped to the ground... But her terror increased tenfold the moment she recognized what the red sigil beneath the winged devil's meant.
"Hey, Ellen." a young blonde girl in a blue dress said, while looking at an open book filled with words she didn't understand. "What are these spells about? They have this weird liquid coming out of the pages..." and as she said that, she used her finger to catch one of the red drops coming out of the book, and brought it to her mouth to have a taste of it... When suddenly, a hand kindly grabbed her arm, stopping it.
A blonde witch-in-training shook her head in disapproval, as she closed down the book the girl was looking it. "Jeez... I should lock this one, but it's so hard when the chains keeping it sealed get oxidated because of the blood..." she let out a sigh. "Those are Blood Magic spells. Remember how I told you that advanced healing spells required a lot of energy from the user and could end up in negative effects?" the witch received a small nod from her friend. "Well, these spells are like that. They use blood as a catalyst, and every time you use one, an amount of your life energy is taken out from you, proportional to the power of the spell used." she explained slowly, as she put the grimoire back on the shelf it belonged. "They're another kind of forbidden spells, like Necromancy, if only because of the devastating spells they can have, both on the targets and on the caster. But, to be honest, the most powerful spells involve the death of the caster, and most magicians don't have the guts to actually spend their life on one shot that can be nullified or protected against. So, the only people who really use these kind of spells are vampires and demons. The kind of stuff you shouldn't worry about, basically, as they're too stupid to even kill a fly." she giggled slightly.
"Yuki, stop it! You're going to kill yourself if you finish casting that spell!" Ellen yelled towards the makaian witch. "Don't throw your life away like that, you idiot! You still have a lot to live for! And you do have friends who would miss you, I'm sure of that!"
“We… have no more…choices left.” Yuki said. “…I can’t…seal her…alone… nor with your help… Mai is… Mai was…” She didn’t continue. It didn’t matter.
The witch’s body trembled in pain, and fear and because of her sobs. “You… got dragged into this mess, I can't let anyone else... die. She should’ve… never left the Dream World… it’s Makai’s fault.”
She looked at Gengetsu as she struggled futilely against the spell.
“This is our problem to fix.” Yuki said, inhaling. “And this is our only option…” Her hand trembled, she urged it to stop, she urged her brain to stop hesitating, to stop being afraid, to simply stop. Her teeth clenched and her tears were still clouding her view. Deep inside she apologized to Lady Shinki, she apologized time and time again. She had always been the only who genuinely cared.
"No no no no! Stop it!" she yelled towards the makaian witch, hurrying over in her direction but stopping quickly. Entering the range of the spell would get her killed as well, and she knew that. "Stop it, Yuki! Don't you dare finish that spell! If you do, I'll grab your corpse and hit it until your life energy comes back, you hear me?! And after that, I'll drag it over to Makai so that you can apologize to that Shinki lady for being an idiot and sacrificing yourself!"
“Ahaha…” Yuki closed her eyes, smiling for a moment, listening to her own heart beat hammering in her ears, the ultimate proof she was alive.
And she could hear the wind, could feel the setting sun… and almost, almost feel the waves hitting the rocky cliff next to her home. She opened her eyes, looking at Gengetsu.
Alive too, still. A creature not much different from herself.
Ironic that something as precious as a life could be snuffed away in an instant. There would be nothing left of the devil. Her body would die, her soul would be destroyed and she would never be ever again.
And that was what it should have been.
Yuki smiled, calmly. In the end, at the very least, she had served a purpose.
“Please… tell Lady Shinki I’m sorry…” Her eyes narrowed and the sigil activated.
The blood floated around the devil, it glowed in a deep red.
The devil twitched and hugged herself, finally screaming in pain despite the fact that nothing seemed to be harming her on the outside, but any other magician would know Gengetsu’s very blood was boiling. Her heart would soon explode inside of her chest and it would kill her. Yuki could feel it all, the winged girl’s boiling heart, the pressure increasing.
And her sight, covered in dark spots, getting darker and darker.
It was scary. But it would be over soon.
It wasn’t flashy, it wasn’t impressive in any way. Gengetsu stopped writhing and with her eyes rolling to the back of her skull, she fell limply to the ground, her screams dying out completely and being replaced by a cold, stilled silence.
Yuki watched her final moments, listening to her own breathing subsiding slowly but unavoidably. She closed her eyes. The sigil dispelled itself into tiny pools of blood.
‘I’m sorry… Lady Shinki…’ Was her last thought.
And then darkness came, and along with it nothingness.

Sadtime for all, reminds me of the past when Seija was really sad: Traumerei I win.The girl was pacing up and down the temple’s stairs, she had just been caught up in a battle against her true foe, one that haunted her dreams and her nightmares, but she did it… Should I be glad?Is it better if she were dead, no more would be caught up in her murderous rampages…?
I should have allowed her stained hands to land to the floor limp and cold like her heart.
Why must that monk get in my way, I just wanted to end her existence.Yui Kawaru defeated her fear that Seija Kijin had died in an instant. Thank you Murasa, for helping me. Thank you Koishi, for giving me the happiness I didn’t deserve. Mother, father… When will Yui join in?

The blonde witch stared at the corpses of both the winged devil and the makaian witch. Her own eyes seemed lifeless as well. 'This... is all my fault... If only I had listened to her, she would still be alive... None of this would have been necessary... And now...' she looked down to her feet, tears falling down to the ground. But, after a few whimpers, she stopped and raised her head. She wiped the tears off her face. There was something else more important to do right now. Ellen rushed over to the winged devil's corpse and searched through her entire body and clothes, not leaving a single part out. She needed to find that antidote, or else what Yuki did would have been in vain. And there it was. On the winged devil's waist, inside a tiny pouch. Ellen carefully took out a very tiny vial, not much larger than a match. Had she not looked thoughtfully, she could have very well missed it. She let out a sigh of relief, but it was not over yet. Hopefully Kasen was still alive. She rushed over to where the hermit was, and gently forced the antidote down her throat. 'Please... please... Please let this work...'Slowly the hermit’s eyes batted open, they automatically adjusted themselves to Flan’s slumbering face, still laying on her lap. She took a few moments to remind herself what was the last thing she remembered from her last moments awake and then, with a gasp, she looked around. “Elle…!” She trailed off, looking to a make shift fireplace the witch had built to fend off the coldness of the night. Ellen was sitting in front of it, absentminded. The blonde witch shifted her eyes slowly to look at the hermit. "Oh. You've finally woken up. Took you some time, Ms.Hermit." her face seemed completely devoid of any type of emotion. “Ellen… are you hurt?” She looked worried. “What happened? Where’s Gengetsu? And Yuki?” Kasen’s eyes looked around, she couldn’t see much in the dead of the night but she tried to anyway. "Dead. Both of them." she said, rather coldly. "And it's my fault." “What…?” Kasen trailed off. The words caught in her throat and the palm of her hands felt sweaty. Her hand holding Flan’s more strongly now. “…What… happened?” The blonde witch stared at the fireplace in absolute silence. "We had managed to lock Gengetsu down, and Yuki was starting to seal her... But then she started taunting me... I thought she was breaking free from the spell I casted to lock her down so I tried to strengthen it and... I messed it up and the winged devil got free." she said, in a monotone voice. "Yuki got impaled and I thought that Gengetsu was going to kill me... But then Yuki managed to get free and..." she lowered her head. "She casted a Blood Magic spell to bring Gengetsu down with her... I tried to stop her, but... Yeah, you can guess that I didn't manage to do so." The hermit clenched her bandaged hand. “How long was I unconscious?” "A few hours, probably. I didn't count the time that was passing." Ellen answered, her coldness never going away. She didn't even bother to look towards the hermit, for that matter. Kasen looked at her bandaged hand. “I see…” She looked at the young vampire on her lap and gently laid her on the ground. The hermit stood up and walked to the middle of the cemetery. She shut her eyes and inhaled, then extended her bandaged hand forward. “From the darkness I must enter into a dark path. Shine afar, moon on the edge of the mountains.”A strong gust of wind blew past the hermit, making the flames in the fireplace sway and crackle. Around her, hundreds of tiny little orbs of flames appeared, burning faintly amidst the darkness of the night, some of them light blue, others a murky purple, others a sick green. They all seemed to have life of their own and despite their lack of eyes, they all seemed to be staring at Kasen intensely. Ellen shifted her eyes to look at the hermit. "Kasen? What are you doing...? Are you trying to summon some evil spirits or something?" The hermit said nothing, she looked at the fire orbs floating around her analyzing them, she kept walking until she found a very weak, almost extinct orb, burning feebly in blue. Kasen exhaled, she whispered something to it and then closed her bandaged hand over it, making it disappear as if by magic. She turned to Ellen. “I can’t summon anything but my pets.” Her arms stopped at her waist as she walked back. “In a place like this, you don’t need to. They’re everywhere already.” Her head turned to look at the orbs. “I just made them visible.” The blonde witch looked at Kasen's bandaged hand. "And why exactly would you do such a thing? Didn't you say these things were dangerous?" “Muenzuka…” Pink orbs looked at the vastness of the cemetery. “…a place where resentment, anger and despair reigns. A place for wraiths and…” She closed her eyes. “lost souls.” Her bandaged hand glowed blue for a second. “Not all of them are dangerous. Some of them are just confused, unable to return to where they belong and... inevitably doomed to either turn into vengeful spirits or simply or eclipse to nothingness.” "Wait... So that soul you grabbed... Is it...?" Ellen stopped herself and bit her own lip. "Great, as if the guilt wasn't bad enough already..." Kasen approached her and smiled, there was a look of understanding in her eyes. Her bandaged reached and petted the witch’s head warmly. “You only figured part of it.” She looked at Ellen’s eyes, a more serious expression on her face. “Souls that don’t belong here aren’t bound by the same rules we are. We can’t argue against the Yama or how the old gods decide things but… Yuki is from Makai and Makai has its own goddess.”

At that moment, something clicked inside Ellen's mind. "W-wait... You're saying that that Shinki lady might be able to revive her?!"
“Might is the key word.” The hermit’s eyes semi-closed as if she was remembering something, there was a shine of sadness in them. “She’s a goddess, she can do it. But souls can’t be forced. They can be destroyed, shattered… but not controlled. Once they have their sense of self, it’s their choice to stay or leave. No god can decide that for them. Souls alone, are the only existence gods can't force their will upon.”
The blonde witch let out a long sigh. "I... I understand... Guess I'll just have to hope she does want to be revived..." she forced a smile.
A small whimper came out from the young vampire's mouth. She was turning around constantly in her sleep, and it seemed like she was having a nightmare of some sort.
“Yes…” Kasen replied with a tone that showed she knew something more.
She sat down holding Flan on her arms again, taking a look at her wounds, worry returned to her eyes.
“Do you know anything about vampires healing? I wonder if blood helps… I should’ve learned some healing spells for this kind of situations…” But she had spent years on years living alone, and her well-being had never concerned her.
Ellen sat down and shook her head. "The only thing I know is that they heal faster than humans and some youkai, but that's pretty much it. I... I personally wouldn't recommend giving her your blood, though. I doubt that you have fully recovered from the poison, and losing blood would be the last thing you need." she sighed. "If you really want to try and see if that helps her, you can use mine."
Kasen shivered slightly. “You’re right. The antidote might still be working.” She petted Flan’s head and then looked at Ellen. “But I don’t think you should lose blood either. If nothing else, you should rest, you look exhausted.” She looked back at Flan. “I’m sorry, Ellen. For letting you go through all that alone…”
Ellen laughed slightly. "Yeah... I guess after all this we all need a rest, huh?" she looked firmly at the hermit arms closed. "It's okay, Ms.Hermit. I mean... It's not like you had much of a choice. If you had overexerted yourself, you probably wouldn't be here with us right now and... Well... I'd hate to be the one that has to teach Flan about all the 'mature' stuff." she giggled, before stopping. "Besides... It's not like everything that happened was bad. Just... 99 percent of it was bad."
“Oh, so we’re a couple now? If that’s the case, why do I have to do the awkward bits? That wasn’t in the marriage certificate.” The oni smirked, and then it subsided to a smile. “Come here.” She gestured with her free arm for Ellen to get closer.
The blonde witch looked at the hermit with a confused look on her face. "Eeeeeh... Who knows what kind of creepy stuff you would do to me, though!" she rubbed her chin. "... Okay fine." she slowly and cautiously got closer to Kasen.
Suddenly, the oni pulled her into the hug, arm wrapping around the witch’s back. “You’ve fallen into my trap, all according to the plan!” She attempted an evil laugh but it came out mechanical, frankly awkward, mess, making it evident that Kasen was generally a non-nonsense person who wasn’t used to joking around. Her hand petted Ellen’s head once again. “Now rest, I’ll keep an eye out for trouble.” She said with her usual voice, smiling warmly.
The blonde witch gave a really weird look towards the hermit. "Please, don't do that again. Ever." she sighed. "But fine, I'll take a rest. If only to get you to stop being nosy about it. ... But please, do take a rest yourself. You're the one who needs it the most." she closed her eyes and rested her head on the hermit's shoulders.
Kasen chuckled lightly at the witches response and looked at the fireplace, memories dancing inside her head as she kept a semi-attentive guard on their surroundings.

Ariezza Pls notice me so we can collab- Pikmin is now desperate! The girl continued to patrol on the steps of the Myouren Temple, acting like the personal guard for a temple that didn’t need guarding. After having her little episode to herself, she had gathered her thoughts and was ready to go exploring once again. “This above ground sun is becoming rather harsh…” The gothic girl explained to an invisible audience, who treated the situation like they were controlling her movements, making her suffer, making her have sudden flashbacks after big events. But she was growing tired of treading her past, it was time to spread her wings. “I did promise herthat I’d return to herdominion in hell. “She explained out loud as her feet lifted up, followed by her body as the girl was now ready to move to the place she always belonged. Hell.

Oh hey. A thing finally happens.
The green-haired sprite landed swiftly on a small ice pathway sitting in the middle of the Misty Lake. A few steps further, there was an entrance to a hollow iceberg, although it was rather small to be considered one. She started walking towards it, her every step making a small cracking noise due to the thin ice. Once she got near enough, she took a peek inside and spoke in a lowered tone towards the inside. "Cirno? Are you there?" There was no answer. She took a step inside. The interior was a mess. Clashing sets of wooden and ice furniture, a slippery frozen floor (which made the fairy trip more than she would like to admit), and frozen frogs and flowers scattered around. This was all pretty normal for the fairy, though. After all, this was what she considered her home. However, this time... It was all much more chaotic than usual. Several pieces of the ice furniture were cracked or flat out broken (yet somehow, most of the wooden furniture was left untouched), an ice sword was stuck on the floor and a frog was jumping around, agitated, having been freed from its prison (how the ice fairy managed to keep the frogs alive despite freezing them, she would never know). Dai quickly grabbed the frog as soon as it passed near her, grasping it tightly between her hands. Almost immediatly, a faint green glow came out of the fairy's hands, and the frog's agitated expression soon switched to a much more peaceful one. The fairy opened her hands in utter confusion once the glow vanished and the frog jumped out, heading to the outside. The fairy looked at her hands. 'Again... Just... What is happening...?'The sprite shook her head and looked towards the chaos that her and the ice fairy's home had turned into. She couldn't help but feel worried. Had the ice fairy caused this by herself? Or did something worse happen? Considering what she had heard from Yuki and at the Myouren Temple... She shook her head once more. 'No. no. This is Cirno I'm talking about. She'll be fine, no matter what.'While she was glancing through the room, the fairy's eyes stopped on something that was resting on what was her bed. It seemed like a small white and blue costume. She got closer to take a better look at it. It was quite battered up, and it included a small blue mantle with a little light blue bow to go along with it. The dress itself had puffy short sleeves, and two pieces of blue cloth were (admittedly, rather crudely) attached to its sides. Moreover, at a first glance, the dress seemed to fit the green-haired sprite quite well. She could take a guess as to why the dress was there. She blushed slightly and sighed, as she undid her cherished hair bow. --- "Stop pointing that thing at my neck!" the starlight fairy cried while, true to her words, a certain ice fairy was pointing a quite sharp ice sword directly at her neck.
Cirno begrudingly lowered the sword, making it get stuck on one of the several ice cracks she had made not too long ago. After that, she sat down on her ice bed and lowered her head.
Star put her right hand over her neck, relieved that the ice fairy hadn't actually gone far enough to sever it. On the other hand, the moonlight-themed fairy, who had been standing besides the two for far too long finally spoke up, yelling towards the ice fairy. "What is wrong with you?!"
Cirno didn't even bother to look back at them, and instead, she answered rather coldly, as befitting of her nature. "Go away. I don't want to play with you two."
"Why you...!" the moonlight fairy readied herself to punch the ice fairy silly. Star forcefully grabbed Luna's arm and lowered it. "It's fine, let her be." she glanced towards the ice fairy. "It's understandable that she's upset. Her friend has disappeared." she looked back at Luna. "Her situation is not all that different from ours. After all, there's a chance that Dai might be dead by this point." This last statement made the ice fairy react, quickly turning her head to look towards the starlight fairy. "Oh, did I hit a soft spot? Sorry, I shouldn't have said that." she sighed. "Let's just go back to the shrine, Luna. We probably want to be there when the red-white comes back from the Dream World, hopefully bringing back news about Dai." she said, before leaving the hollow iceberg. The moonlight fairy took a quick glance towards the fairy before leaving as well.
Cirno raised her head slightly and looked towards Dai's bed, where a battered-up dress was resting. She had found it a few weeks ago near the Human Village, and had decided to give it to her friend as a present when spring finally came over. But now that Dai had disappeared completely, she wasn't sure if she would get the chance to even give it to her. She looked towards the iceberg's entrance. "They said that Dai was in a Dream World place, huh...?"--- The green-haired sprite exited her home, with some spellcards in hand and fully decked-out in a completely new attire, although she still had her ponytail and her hair bow. She had tried to clean the dress up a little bit, but she didn't manage much. She just didn't have the time to do so. After all, she still had to return to the Forest of Magic to aid Yuki. She looked back towards the iceberg. "I'm sorry... But I really want to help solve this incident once and for all. After that, I promise I'll come back, okay?" she said, speaking to nobody. She closed her eyes, smiling, and quickly took flight, heading towards the Forest of Magic. Dai's new outfit is pretty much taken straight from this little piece of fanart. Credits to Yuuhagi and all that stuff.

It's everyone's favourite collab duo!
what. I'm running out of ideas to put here.
The green-haired sprite landed in Muenzuka, reaching the place after following the directions from some fellow fairies who spoke of a danmaku battle going on in the area. 'Yuki wasn't in the forest so I imagine that she should be around here, but...' she looked around. 'I don't see her... Or any battle for that matter. Maybe I was too late?' she spotted a fireplace not too far away from her position. 'Hmm... I wonder if...' she slowly started walking towards the fireplace, just to see if there was anyone there that could tell her where the makaian witch had gone. "Uh... Hello?" For a split second, there was a huge claw under the fairy, ready to crush her into bits, but it dissipated itself, almost as if it had been just a trick of the mind, as soon as Dai spoke. “Who’s there?” Came a question. 'How do I manage to keep getting myself into trouble...' Dai sighed. "Uh... I'm Daiyousei, a sprite. I'm looking for a witch named Yuki..." The hermit thought for a second and was reminded that Flan had mentioned the fairy before. “I know who you are then.” Kasen closed her eyes, her voice a lot more welcoming than before.. “You can come closer.” Dai was hesitant to get closer. How did this person know who she was? What assured her that this person was not in cahoots with the ripper, who might've known about what happened in the Dream World by now? She put her hand over where she was keeping her spellcards, ready to counter at the slightest threatening movement, and walked over to where that person was. Once she was near enough to get a better look, the fairy let out a small audible gasp upon seeing the horns on the pink-haired hermit's head. *BGM: Gloomy Feeling (Phantom Brave)* A faint smiled showed up on the hermit’s lips. “I’m sorry if I scared you. But…” Her eyes went from the barely lit body of the makaian witch to Flan and Ellen. “At this point, I can’t take any more chances.” She added weakly. "I... I understand..." The sprite looked in the direction of the makaian witch's body. '... Please tell me she's just...' she sat down in front of the hermit. "Uhm... What happened? I heard from other fairies that there was a battle going on..." “We fought Gengetsu, the one behind the attacks on the Village.” The pink haired woman looked at the fire. “We had a hard time fighting her but…” She went quiet for some seconds. “Thanks to Yuki, she’s now gone for good. She won’t trouble anyone any longer.” Deep in her mind, she tried to shove away the voices yelling at her about how useless she had been in the fight and that maybe, maybe if she had been more cautious, Yuki wouldn’t have had to lose her life to save them all. "I see..." The fairy looked straight into the hermit's eyes. "I'm glad that that person has been dealt with... And I suppose everyone came out alright?" she noticed the hermit's sad expression. "... They did, right?" Kasen nodded negatively. As she quietly looked at Yuki, she hoped the silence was telling enough. The fairy lowered her head. "I... I see..." she rubbed her eyes. "Uhm... I don't think I quite got your name...?" she said, desesperately trying to change the conversation's topic. “Kasen.” Her eyes focused on the fairy’s. “Kasen Ibaraki.” The hermit seemed to be pondering something as she looked at the green haired girl in front of her. “You’re one of Flan’s friends, aren’t you? She talked about you before.” The ascended fairy looked at the vampire that was resting on Kasen's lap. "Well... I did say I would be her friend..." she looked back at Kasen. "I just so happened to meet her while I was looking for Marisa, and I had to calm her down when an ice fairy friend of mine made her want to kill us both." She said, scratching her cheek. She stared at her hands for a few moments. "That's pretty much it, though. We kind of separated after that and I... well. Let's just say I got in quite a bit of trouble..." “And now you came here checking on a fight.” The hermit breathed out. “I think this Incident already has enough people involved. You are just going to get into more trouble if you involve yourself further.” Kasen closed her eyes for a moment. It wasn’t something that happened often but she was feeling tired. “Marisa ran off with Alice, for better or worse I don’t think that will miss her this time around.” Dai let out a nervous laugh. "I think it's too late for me to not involve myself further, Ms.Ibaraki..." she sighed. "Just until recently, I've been captive in the Dream World, you see. I trusted someone way too much and then I got betrayed and well. The culprit threw me into a cage." She forced herself to smile a little, trying to reassure herself. "Besides, I'm a fairy. Death is not too much of a problem for me!" Kasen opened her eyes, surprised. “The Dream World? How did you get there?” She nodded negatively. “What did you see there?” Dai looked to the side. "I thought that, since the culprit could take the form of one's fears and nightmares, maybe I could find out something if I went to the Dream World. I met someone, a youkai named Yuuka Kazami who told me that she knew how to get there. I followed her and... well... I already told you how that ended." she turned back to face the hermit. "As for what I saw, well. Sadly, I didn't see much of the Dream World before I got taken captive. I fell unconscious and when I woke up I was already in a cage. Moreover, I couldn't see the culprit's face so. If there was anything of note back there, it was--" she bit her lip, stopping herself. "... Nevermind, it's not important." “No, it is important. Any new information is.” The hermit’s eyes frowned. “What did you see?” Dai stood silent for a few minutes. "There... There was another girl in the culprit's lair. A poltergeist. Her name was Layla. She...." the fairy hesitated a little before going on. "The culprit was using her as a link to get into Gensokyo." In her mind, the hermit put all the pieces together. She finally understood how something that didn’t belong to that world suddenly had. “So… that how it is…” She focused her narrowed eyes on the sprite. “And since you were hesitant about sharing the information, I reckon she isn’t simply a victim but also a perpetrator.” The sprite simply nodded. "But... She's not really at fault. I heard the whole story from her... The culprit just tricked her..." “I understand it…” Kasen eyes looked at the sky as the morning sun started to rise. “People make mistakes and some of them aren’t easy to forgive or even forget. Every single creature in this world has to bear their own sins.” She looked back at Dai. “That being said, you shouldn’t be that trusting of people, you’re clearly too nice for your own good. Nice people are easily tricked. The fairy lowered her head. "Yeah... I don't think I'm ever going to forget that lesson after all of what's happened." “So, you were trapped in a cage… in an unreachable place… And yet you are out. How did you manage that and where is the Layla girl?” "Ah, that. Well, I had an idea. Basically, since the culprit was using Layla as a way to get into Gensokyo, I thought that maybe, I could exploit the link to nature I have as a fairy with her help and use it to contact some other fairy who could maybe ask for help. And it worked, I managed to contact a friend who told Reimu about what happened." she sighed in relief. "Reimu eventually came over to the Dream World and got me out of the cage. As for Layla... It would be too dangerous if she were to enter Gensokyo since the culprit was still around and it could easily take control of her, so Reimu stayed in the Dream World with her." “Reimu what…?!” She would’ve face palmed if she could. “What is that idiot doing, going there by herself? Who knows what can happen! If the ripper is powerful here, it only gets worse there!” "But the ripper wasn't in the Dream World by then! And regardless, she has dealed with this kind of stuff before, hasn't she!? She'll be fine!" The blonde witch groaned a little. "Stop yelling, I wanna sleep..." Kasen’s brow twitched. ’Well, at least she’s feeling better…’ She frowned her brows and kept talking in an angry whisper. “But there hasn’t been an Incident like this before!” The fairy lowered her tone as well. "Well, yeah, but still...!" she started biting her nails. She had talked more than she should've and messed up. “Aah… this is bad…” Kasen growled to herself. In the hermit’s head, trying to come up with a priority for the things she had to do was becoming increasingly hard, and seemingly impossible. They had to take Yuki to Makai as soon as possible, a soul couldn’t simply remain outside its container indefinitely, with time it would feel more and more disconnected to its body until it no longer recognized it as its own. And that would be it, the soul would have to be released to be judged by the Yama or simply destroyed so that the reincarnation cycle would forever be avoided. Marisa’s situation was problematic, and it too relied on a time limit. A limit she wasn’t certain they had already passed. If they didn’t hurry, if they failed, then the witch would no longer be herself and, in the worst case scenario, her soul would be consumed and lost forever, she would die in the most final definition of the term. But at least she now knew where she was headed, or at least she hoped she was right. And Reimu, the person responsible for Gensokyo’s balance, its existence even, had put herself in the wolf’s mouth, cockily, no doubt, thinking she could solve it on her own. If the culprits’ goal was to destroy Gensokyo, that would be the best opportunity to achieve it, given to them on a silver platter. “Do you know what the ripper’s goal is? Did it mention anything?” Dai shook her head. "No, I have no idea of what its goal might be. Other than it wants to get out of the Dream World." “Damn it!” She gritted her teeth. “Damn it, Reimu, you stupid idiot!” Her eyes focused on the sprite again. “Do you know how to get to the Dream World? I mean, did Yuuka show you how to do it?” Dai rubbed her chin. "Well, I was present when she opened a pathway to the Dream World so... Yeah I think I can get there. ... Wait, what are you thinking of doing?" “The Dream World is vast but… If we at least now how to get there, we will just need a way to locate the place.” A pensive look was now plastered on her face. “I can’t let Reimu die, Gensokyo would likely die with her…” The sprite looked at Kasen worriedly. 'I... I shouldn't have left Reimu and Layla in there...' "So, you're planning to go to the Dream World?" “I have no choice.” She answered. “I need to find a way to locate the place first… Marisa might now about it.” Her eyes fell on Yuki again. “But I need to go to Makai…” If there was something Kasen had learned during her long life it was the undeniable fact that she couldn’t save everyone. Life always came with difficult choices, and for an Oni standing in the middle of a battlefield, the pragmatic credo that choices had to be made ‘for the greater good’ was always the first thing to remember. But now, she wasn’t standing on a battlefield alone. She had friends she could trust. “If we want to save everyone, we’ll have to work in separated teams.” Dai nodded. "I think I know what you're thinking of, but..." Ellen and Flan snored almost simultaneously. "You might want to wake them up or else you're going to have to explain the whole thing twice."

Words and sentences.
“Hey, you two,” Kasen started in a whisper. “It’s time to go.” The sun was already making its way to the sky, replacing the veil of darkness of the night. “We can’t stay here forever.” The blonde witch was the first one to awaken from her slumber. She opened her eyes slowly between grunts, only to cover them with her hand due to the sunlight blinding her. "Ugh... Someone please put the sun somewhere where I can't see it..." she stopped resting her head on the hermit's shoulders and straightened herself. "Remind me to not do anything like this ever again, my neck hurts so much..." Only then did she notice the green-haired fairy sitting on the other side of the fireplace. She looked towards Kasen. "You didn't fall asleep and get pranked by a fairy did you?" The young vampire, on the other hand, continued sleeping with a peaceful smile on her face. “No, I didn’t.” Kasen replied without so much as a smile, her brows unconsciously frowning slightly as her mind worried over the latest news. “She came here to help.” Gently, she shook the young vampire on her lap. “Flan, come on, wake up. You want to help Marisa, don’t you?” The young vampire slowly opened her eyes. She rubbed her eyes, yawned a little and turned her head to look at Kasen. "Good morning!" she said, with a big smile on her face, like if nothing had happened in the past few hours. "How are you feeling?" The hermit asked despite seeing the vampire's wounds were mostly healed. "My entire body feels like I've been hit by something big..." the young vampire said, her head lowered a little. "But other than that, I'm fine! Oh, by the way, I dreamed about you. You were cooking a pudding and it looked delicious!" Ellen started laughing under her breath. The hermit couldn’t help it but to smile. Despite the power the young vampire possessed and its potential for destruction, in the end, Flandre was a child, just like any other, shimmering red eyes still filled with innocence. “Is that so?” She patted her hair. “I guess I’ll try my hand at making one once this is all over.” Then her expression fell back to her serious one. “But for now, we have things to do.” Her eyes shifted to Ellen. “I think Marisa ran off to her home. I need you two to go after her. You still have Lady Shiki’s grimoire with you, right?” The blonde witch snapped her fingers and the grimoire appeared out of thin air in her hand. "Yup, I do." Flandre looked at Kasen right in the eyes for a few seconds before saying. "Wait, us two? Where are you going?!" “Makai.” The pink hair stood up and walked towards Yuki’s body. “We can’t lose any more time than we already have.” And she carefully, but remarkably easily, picked it up. "B-but I want to...!" the young vampire started talking, but her words were cut short by Ellen's hand covering her mouth. "She says she'll be glad to do what you tell her to. Because, after all, that's what little sisters do!" the blonde witch said. Flan opened her mouth, showing her fangs, ready to bite Ellen's hand. At that moment, the witch whispered to the vampire's ear. "We don't have much time. If we delay any longer, Marisa will probably be a corpse when we get there. Besides, I need your help to get rid of her sigil." these words made the vampire give up on her intent, letting out a sigh. Dai stood up as well and walked over to where the hermit was. "Excuse me, Ms.Ibaraki. Mind if I go with you to that Makai place? If the Ripper is still around, going alone is very unwise, specially if you're carrying a body, which will probably make it harder to fight should you get into any trouble. Besides..." she crossed her arms. "I was supposed to lend Ms.Yuki a hand, but I got caught up with something and didn't manage to come in time so... I can't help but feel somewhat responsible for this..." her voice took a sad tone as she muttered the last few words. Kasen looked and the sprite. “You made your decision to help. It’s a conscious decision. I’m not going to be the one to quell your determination.” She smiled. “If you want to help, I’ll gladly accept it.” Her eyes fell on Yuki’s body. “You shouldn’t feel guilty about it. It was beyond your control.” ‘We… on the other hand…’ The fairy nodded, replying with a single "Thank you." Ellen let go of the vampire, and stood up. She turned to look over to Kasen. "Well. We'll be going, then. When you're done over at Makai, come meet us at Marisa's house, okay? Hopefully we'll have resolved that matter by then." she turned around and got ready to take flight, but stopped. "Oh and... One more thing." the witch looked at the hermit from over her shoulder. "Please don't do anything reckless or stupid. This time I'm not going to be around to act as a shield." when she had said everything she wanted, Ellen took off to the skies. Flandre followed the blonde witch soon after, not before giving the hermit a sad look. Kasen looked at Flandre and gave her a reassuring smile, she then turned to the green haired girl. “I’ll lead the way.” And with that she flew off. It was a fairly short trip to the gate of Makai, which the Hermit opened, once again, with the ring given to her by Shinki. Once again, the weird colored sky of the goddess’ domain expanded itself above the two girls. The ascended fairy's eyes widened as she saw the sky changing color right above her head. "You know. Amongst fairies, we speak of Makai as if it was a barren wasteland full of the most nightmarish and dangerous creatures one can think of." she giggled. "Of course, no fairy has actually gone to Makai before so we just treat it as if it were a ghost story... But... If the rest of Makai is as pretty as its sky, then I guess I'm going to have to start not believing those stories." “Makai changed a lot, it didn’t use to be this beautiful, or so say the books…” The hermit started walking, her eyes focusing on a lighthouse in the distance. “It was supposedly reconstructed to resemble Gensokyo more. But…” She looked at the fairy. “it doesn’t mean we can relax, there are dangerous people here, we always have to be on guard.” The fairy lowered her head slightly. "Yeah, I understand that much... It's still a world of demons, isn't it...?" she looked back at the pink-haired woman "But, wait. 'Reconstructed'? Did something happen in here?" “Yes. There are many intricacies and sides to the story but if I were to summarize it…” The hermit pondered for a second. “Makai inhabitants started mass invading Gensokyo and because that would put the balance of our world in danger, Reimu, Marisa and a few others decided to invade Makai themselves and put a stop to it.” She frowned slightly. “It didn’t go well, Lady Shinki, the creator and ruler of this place, lost control while fighting against them and Makai almost got reduced to ashes because of it.” A quiet breath escaped her lips. “Of course, this lead to tensions between both sides.” She raised a brow. “Rather, because people in Gensokyo are carefree to a really impressive level, they quickly forgot about it. The same can’t be said about the people here. A lot of them still harbor a lot of anger towards us.” The fairy looked straight into the hermit's eyes as she started explaining. "Uh... Things got that bad...? I had no idea..." the fairy looked pensative. "But... How long ago did that happen? I don't remember anything about people from Makai entering Gensokyo or anything like that. And this Lady Shinki person... I imagine it's who we're looking for, but what kind of person is she? I mean, if she's the queen of all Makai denizens..." Dai started forming a mental image in her head about what the goddess of Makai could look like. She imagined a 2 meters tall demon, with red skin and sharp fangs, stained with the blood of all those she had vanquished to reach her position. She also imagined that she would have two, or perhaps more, gigantic black wings, and she would always carry around a big black trident, forged in the flames of Hell itself. The sole presence of this demonic beast alone would be enough to instill fear into the most powerful beings in Gensokyo. In fact, just imagining about it made the sprite feel rather terrified and she almost started regretting having offered to go alongside the hermit. “Hmm…” Kasen pondered, unsure how someone who had lived as a hermit could accurately keep track of time. “Around 10 years ago? Maybe 8? I don’t think the effects in Gensokyo were noticeable enough, Reimu and the others were quick to act. The consequences were obviously more visible here.”

The sound of the sea hitting rock was now audible as they approached the lighthouse that Yuki had used as her home. “I’m not looking for Lady Shinki.” Kasen started. “Unlike everyone would usually expect, she’s a gentle and sensible person. One of the few that harbor no hard feelings for us.” Opening the door to the house, she whispered a respectful ‘sorry for barging in” and continued inside. The most immediate room was the kitchen, it had all the signs of someone that had to rush out of her home but had planned to return soon: the breakfast dishes were still in the sink, there was an half empty glass of tea on the counter, a to do list was hanging on one of the cupboards in emphatic bold letters. “What kind of person would I be to tell her that someone she cared about has passed while holding her body in my arms?” The fairy looked at the makaian witch's corpse. "Yeah, I see what you mean. You plan on leaving the body he--?" her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of steps entering the house and a voice speaking. "Hey, Yuki!" as soon the voice spoke, the temperature inside the room seemed to drop a little. "The door was open so I know you're here. Where the hell have you been for the entire..." it was at that moment that the person who entered the house, a blue-haired witch with white wings on her back and carrying an ice spear, noticed the two beings that were already inside the house, and most notably, the familiar body that the pink-haired woman was carrying. She didn't even need to try and detect life energy with a spell, or take her pulse. One look at the corpse was all the witch needed. Silence filled the room for a few moments. The oni did nothing but silently look at the ice witch’s eyes. She seemed absent-minded, the kind one tends to be when they have someone whispering in their ears. The pink haired then turned on her feet, looking to a semi-opened door leading to a room where she had spotted a bed and then proceeded to walk there, laying the body down on the messy bed the witch clearly had had no time to compose before she left. The fairy looked at Kasen as she was laying down Yuki's body, then turned to look at the still frozen in place witch. She walked slowly over to the winged girl. "H-hey, are you okay...?" Once the fairy got near enough, the ice witch quickly thrusted with the spear she was carrying, directly towards Dai's chest. The green-haired sprite was quick enough to react to the attack, but not quick enough to dodge it completely. The spear scrapped her arm, making a small cut on it. The fairy backed away and put her other hand over the cut. 'No, of course she's not okay. What was I thinking...'A bandaged hand clasped the spear. “If you’re going to hurt my friends, them we’re going to have a problem.” She pushed the spear back. “If you have something to say, then say it. Or are you just confused as to who you’re angry at?” The spear vanished with a cloud of ice dust. The ice witch looked straight into the hermit's eyes. "Do you or the stupid gensokyians who came here last time have anything to do with it?" she asked, rather coldly, as befitting of her element. “If I said I did, what would you do, exactly?” Kasen asked nonchalantly, her coldness matching Mai’s. "Is your strength compensating for your tiny brain, oni?" the witch said. "It's not hard to guess what I would do should you be involved with it." “Oh, yes, I’m a dumb, idiot oni.” Kasen smirked. “Yes, we were involved. Oni tell no lies.” She approached Mai. “Maybe you can explain what you meant better now? Easily enough so I can understand.” With a quick movement, the winged witch grabbed the hermit's neck. Yet, for some reason, she didn't actually made any kind of force on it. Instead, the ice witch started trembling. The fake smirk Kasen had put up was replaced by her previous expression, her eyes softening up. She did nothing to remove the witch’s hand from her neck. “She kept talking about you, you know? Made you look like a fun person to be around. But whenever she did, there was always a sliver of sadness in her eyes.” She could feel the blue haired girl's hand shaking. "And yet, here you are, a magician devoted to the coldest of the elements, trembling." Her shoulders slumped slightly. "If you cared so much for her, why didn't you show it?" The ice witch removed her hand from Kasen's neck. She then walked over to the room where the makaian witch's body was lying and looked at it for a few seconds, before turning back to the hermit. "I imagine that Gengetsu also had something to do with this?" Kasen nodded, wondering how the witch knew about it. "Yuki killed her, she will no longer be a problem now." She frowned, that sinking feeling of uselessness forming on the pit of her stomach once again. "If it wasn't for her, we would've all died." Unconsciously, her hands clenched into fists. The winged girl chuckled slightly. "I guess she finally did something useful, for once." she turned around to face the corpse of her companion. "Yuki was always a hindrance. She was way too careless and whenever we had to fight together, her inability to control her magic properly made me have to work double to fill in for her mistakes. Every day, I treated her like if she was scum, or a punching bag. I hoped that maybe if I kept treating her like that, she would stop bothering me and I would be able to work without any failure of a witch holding me down. But no, she never did. At the next day, she would always say 'good morning' with a big dumb smile on her face." the cold statements coming from the witch's mouth carried a sad tone with them. "Back when you Gensokyians invaded Makai, me and Yuki had to confront a bunch of them. ... I was the first one to be defeated. Yuki got enraged due to this and tried to single-handily take on the invaders. She lost, obviously. ... That time, it was the only time where I actually regretted treating her like how I had been treating her." she chuckled. "I should've apologized sooner." “She considered you a friend.” Kasen crossed her arms. “When you care for someone, that’s what you do, even if they keep pushing you away.” She looked at Yuki. “You go after them because you don’t want them to be alone, you get angry when they get hurt, maybe more than you would if it had been with you.” The hermit looked at Mai. “But they usually don’t when they know the other person doesn’t feel the same way.” Keeping souls didn’t unlock their memories to the keeper, it wouldn’t magically transfer their thoughts and past to them. Souls, were untamable. But the feelings and emotions alone vividly flowed to the keeper and with practice, you’d understand them even if you didn’t know who they were or had been. “Have you ever asked why?” Because she could feel that despite her cheerfulness, Yuki wasn’t, and probably hadn’t be in a long time, happy. The ice witch didn't even bother to acknowledge the question. "What was your intention when you brought Yuki's body here?" “Leave her in her home and then give the news to Lady Shinki.” The hermit looked at Yuki. “When people die, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are automatically gone. I’m sure even Makai inhabitants know that souls follow a cycle, as long as they don’t get destroyed. But each soul belongs to their own place, and a makaian soul would simply stop existing if it was left to wander Gensokyo.” Her bandaged hand opened its palm, and over it a tiny, ethereal flame hovered. “It wouldn’t be past Lady Shiki’s powers to bring her back.” She gently put her other hand atop the bandaged one, covering the flame. “Souls can’t be tamed. Not even by gods. They are their own owners and in only them rests the decision to return.” Kasen turned away and started walking away. “I have found the answer.” The ice witch didn't even look at the hermit as she was leaving. She continued to look at her old companion with a sad expression on her face.

Kasen had said she had her answer, and that was the true. But Yuki herself didn’t have one. The soul danced wildly on her palm, unsure of anything, chaotic.
Maybe there was only one person who could give Yuki some peace of mind, Lady Shinki. That was the hermit’s answer. So she and the concerned looking green haired sprite, flew to Pandemonium to talk to its owner, to explain, hesitantly , what had happened. The hermit felt tired, her mind wasn’t quite there but yet she explained everything in a coherent and delicate manner. But nothing had quite stuck inside her head. Vaguely, she could recall that the grey haired woman had cried, her maid had apologized heartily for not anticipating Yuki wouldn’t ask Mai for help, the little fairy had tried to calm both down, and she… she had stood there, senses blinded by exhaustion driven apathy. And when she snapped back to reality, more or less conscious now, she realized they were back to the lighthouse, as if they had never left in the first place. Slowly, the hermit blinked her eyes, resting a tired hand over her face, as the goddess entered the lighthouse.
Shinki quietly stepped inside, followed by Yumeko. She saw the ice witch at Yuki’s side and opened her mouth to say something, but she just looked at the ground as she fought back tears.
The ice witch turned around as soon as heard the goddess enter the room, still bearing the same ice cold expression she had exhibited not too long ago in front of the hermit and the fairy. However, as soon as she saw her Lady Shinki, her expression quickly switched to a worried one, and her throat started to feel sore. "Lady Shinki..." she said, walking slowly towards the grey haired woman.
“Shh, it’s alright…” The older woman said as reassuringly as she could, petting the girl’s head. She approached the unmoving form of the fire witch, while gently leading the other one forward as well, hands warmly on her shoulders. Her breathe hitched when she looked at the gaping wound on the blonde’s chest and in a flash, a quick one, there was a feeling of anger and sadness permeating the air and making it heavy, as if it had acquired a physical from of its own.
Yumeko gave her master a worried glance.
Mai turned her head slightly to look at the goddess. "You think..." she glanced over to the fire witch's body. "You think she wants to come back...?"
“I’m not sure…” Shinki’s eyes were clouded with uncertainty. “I don’t think she is either… Her soul looked… troubled, torn.” Her voice trembled slightly. “I wonder what I could’ve done to help her… I… am a terrible mother, am I not? I should have noticed how much she was bottling in… I thought she was happier now…”
Mai continued looking at the body. "I always treated her horribly, how could she have been happy...?" she looked back at Shinki. "But, Lady Shinki... You're not a terrible mother. To any of us. Yuki... she was just too reckless and stupid. It's her fault this happened, not yours..."
Before Shinki replied, Yumeko stepped in. She looked as calm and unfazed as ever as she looked at Mai. “You are right, she was reckless and stupid.”
“Mai, Yumeko!” The goddess started in an angry tone.
The maid handed Mai the letter she had written Yuki. “I asked her to inform you that you both should depart to Gensokyo and stop Gengetsu, after all, she could not possibly do it on her own.” The blonde crossed her arms. “She chose not to inform you, I realize now that it was likely due to your hatred towards them.” Her eyes fell apathetically on the body. “It was her choice to prioritize not falling out of your favor over her own safety.” There was no recrimination or irony in her voice. “She perished out of pure foolishness.”
The winged witch grabbed the letter. "That good-for-nothing witch... Why would she do something so stupid... Always had to inconvenience someone, right?"
Shinki quietly grabbed the witch’s unfamiliarly cold hands. Healing magic seeped through her fingers, and the gaping whole started to solely close up, until there was nothing there to remind it besides the dried blood on her clothes and her tattered shirt. The magic stayed there, glowing, opening a portal to the core that made that body an actual being.
“I suppose.” Yumeko spoke again. “Yet, is there anyone that can exist without inconveniencing another, I wonder?”
The ice witch watched as the goddess cured the wounds on Yuki's body. "Perhaps not." she answered, coldly.
As if on cue, Kasen entered the room and silently looked at Shinki.
Without looking back, the woman acknowledged her presence. “…Is there any change?”
The hermit nodded negatively. “No.” She looked at Yuki. “A hesitating soul is bound to either stay on the body or react adversely… I can’t guarantee this will be safe or painless.”
“Can we still try?” The older woman looked at the hermit.
“Of course.” The pink hair approached the body as the others cleared space.
“Thank you.” The goddess said.
“No, not at all. I should be the one thankful.” Kasen spread her bandaged hand above Yuki’s body, and as she was starting to concentrate again, Shinki’s voice spoke again.
“Thank you. It must be painful, it must be hard, isn’t it not?”
The hermit stopped.
“To carry one soul is already such a burden.”
Kasen closed her eyes in concentration. “It’s inevitable. Every soul has its burdens. That is why we surround ourselves by people who love us so as to ease the weight.” She smiled faintly remembering her own friends. “Then suddenly, as if by magic… we become light as feathers.”
Shinki smiled in silence.
The green-haired sprite silently entered the room shortly after the pink-haired hermit. She approached the others and watched the concentrated hermit closely, with a worried look on her face.
A light glowed through Kasen’s bandaged hand, a peaceful light blue, and irradiated through Yuki’s body in threads of root shaped branches. There was a thumb, and the witch’s body twitched up, her eyes flashed open and, almost immediately, fire flared up in a raged frenzy. Kasen moved away, not in time to avoid one of the slithering flames as it licked the right side of her face, she grit her teeth at the pain, trying to remind herself if she had ever experienced such a scorching fire before.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!” The pained voice was Yuki’s and yet it seemed different, hoarser. The flames engulfed her entirely as they breezed through the bed and started melting the rock of the walls and everything else in their surroundings.
The ball of raging flames stood up, and between the flames a dark, menacing silhouette could be seen: the clear imprint of the nightmarish demons humans told their children about. But there were no red orbs, there was nothing but the white of her eyes.
“Lady Shinki!” Yumeko automatically put herself in front of her master, knives at the ready, while the other women had frozen in place.
The ice witch came back to reality after a few seconds of staring at the silhouette. "W-what is..." Her voice had lost all composure and was trembling. She shifted her eyes towards the pink-haired hermit. "You! What the hell did you do?!"
There was cold sweat trailing down Kasen’s face as her right hand clasped her burnt eye and face. “Nothing!” She clenched her teeth. “Everyone get outside! This will---“
The glasses inside the house started breaking due to the heat, the crashes and crushes a deafening inharmonic symphony.
Yumeko spared no time to drag the aghast goddess out of the room, and Kasen did the same with the terrified green haired fairy.
