10) Best overall soundtrack is Mirai Nikki's, IMO. The OPs and EDs are great, and unlike other animes which might have some amazing songs and then the rest is mostly meh, I find MN's music to be interesting throughout the show. It also includes gems like this:


While MN's is the most consistent, there are animes which have better individual songs IMO. I think the 3 Traditional Song of Shadows in SSY are amazing, as are Sis Puella Magica! and Magia from Madoka.


EDIT: Hetalia deserves special mention for having the best ED ever:

10. Best anime soundtrack

Gonna have to go with Fate/Zero. It has the best Kajiura compositions that I heard, and has awesome OPs and EDs (though it loses to Railgun wrt OPs, it wins all other areas). The OPs and EDs aren't available on YT, but here's a BGM sample (played as early as ep 5 if you're worried about spoilers): Battle is to the strong

My favorite anime BGM ever is "Brothers" from Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 (both the instrumental and vocal versions), but aside from that one song, the rest of the soundtrack isn't quite as spectacular, so my answer goes to Fate/Zero.

One of my other favorites is Akito Sohma.

Gilgamesh and Kirei from Fate, Kurumi Tokisaki from Date a Live, Zeref from Fairy Tail

Gilgamesh is.. Well, a planner. Everything everyone does is according to his plan, and if it goes the wrong way, he readjusts it. He's the most arrogant servant, which means he will never use his full potential. A servant that can beat other servants, who has no clear weakness, and has INFINITE NOBLE PHANTASMS(well, 1000+2) is someone to be feared. There's more to this, but that's spoilers

Kirei goes into madness. He has no joy of his own, so he seeks it out with the help of Gilgamesh, only to find out that he loves to betray, kill and deceive people. The Zero!Kirei hits on this on the last few episodes. And the fact he survived the Holy Grail too

Kurumi is hard to describe, because unlike the other two, Kurumi is a serial killer. She kills others, rips holes in the fabric of space, and has multiple copies of herself throughout time. She has no real form, because every second, she creates a copy of HERSELF. But she kills people because everytime she loses her powers, it drains her lifespan, so she takes the lifespans of others instead. The rest is spoilerly, me thinks.

Finally, I dislike Fairy Tail. I really do. But something made me like Zeref early because it's the kind of villain I'm attracted to. Someone who's helpless and fearful of killing anything, can drop that on a hat to literally wipe out humanity. Zeref doesn't show the fact he wants someone to end him, but if they don't, he'll end the world entirely. Something about humanity being a failure. But he's one of the few villains who can pull off the savior of humanity by destroying it really well.

10. TTGL and [C] Control go head-to-head in this column, as Taku Iwasaki's music is undeniably top-tier in my opinion. I'll have to pick TTGL though, being the better series overall.
