A new warrior has entered the battle
Hatate left her home, shivering slightly at the cold winter breeze. As it was to be expected, Winter was colder in the Youkai Mountain.
She was about to go to her office when a blur of black flew past her at an incredible speed. 'There she goes again. I hope she's not harassing someone today.' She looked down, ready to resume her waling when she noticed that Aya had left a bunch of newspapers in her wake.
She casually picked one up and read in a quiet voice. "'The mysterious Ghost case!!! - Unknown assailant leaves 5 villagers and a fairy in a coma, village guardian is clueless as to its identity!'" 'Ugh, that's an awful lot of exclamation points. As sensationalistic as ever. That aside... isn't this going to bring us trouble?'
She extended her wings and flew towards the sky, looking down, searching. "There she is! Momiji!"
The crow tengu landed next to Momiji. "Heya! Are you busy? Because I think that idiot Aya is going to get us all in trouble."
Momiji stops surveying the land and looks to Hatate. "What do you mean? Don't tell me she's conducting interviews without permission again."
Hatate shook her head. "No, this is a lot worse, look!"
Hatate showed Momiji the newspaper. Her brow furrowed as she continued reading. "There goes Aya again, exaggerating again. Although... this does sound serious. 6 people and not a clue as to who it could be?" Momiji stood there pondering momentarily. "Do you know anyone else who is looking into this?"
Hatate nodded negatively. "I think there are probably plenty of people investigating the incident by now, now that the whole Gensokyo knows about it, and that's exactly the problem. I very much doubt that village guardian wanted the news to spread like this. Imagine what it's like to control a whole village panicking."
She batted her wings, shaking some snow from her feathers. "What I mean is, we should try to help them out before we have a were-hakutaku wreaking havoc here, or worse, the Hakurei miko. And everything would happen because one idiotic tengu wanted a scoop. Tenma-sama would probably have a nervous breakdown, and you know what happens to all of us when Tenma-sama isn't happy." the tengu shivered at the thought. Their chief was seriously scary when angered.
Hatate's brows arched. Momiji was proud of being a mountain guard and she, more than anyone Hatate knew, took her job very seriously. She had to admit it was rather unexpected to see Momiji wanting to help the humans instead of guarding the mountain. "Are you sure? What about your patrolling duties? Won't Tenma-sama get angry at you for leaving your post?"
But the crow tengu was sure, and she could bet that Momiji herself knew it, if there was someone who humans would trust after what Aya did, it would be the wolf tengu.
Momiji looks serious. "I'm sure, I want to do this. Don't get me wrong, I very much enjoy my time here, but... I feel something strange... like I have to do this, Hatate. Either way, I shall ask Tenma-sama for permission to take leave, and I will return as swiftly as possible." She looked very serious.
Hatate smiled a bit. "Okay, Momiji. I trust you. Just be careful, okay? It'll be a bit lonely without you around, but I support your decision."
Momiji smiled as well. "Thank you for understanding." As soon as Momiji's shift was over, the duo went to consult the Tenma for permission.
---
They entered their chief's house and quietly went to the audience room. Hatate felt yet another shiver when she sat down in seiza position. Usually, they would only be there if they had to be punished for something, but today was different.
The Tenma's voice reverberated in the room. "This is unusual. What brings both of you here? I hope it is something serious and not a waste of my time."
Hatate gulped but steadied her voice. "Tenma-sama, something has happened in the Human Village. Apparently some humans collapsed and they have yet to come to their senses. Rumors say it's a ghosts, but nothing has been confirmed yet. We do know that something is behind it."
"And what does that have to do with us Tengu?"
"Aya made an article about it and handed it throughout Gensokyo. I fear she may have caused mass panic in the village and I'm sure that nor their guardian, nor the miko will be happy about it. They might come here for revenge."
The Tenma chuckled, giving Hatate the second surprise of the day. "Do you think that the miko could handle all of us Tengu? Even if she serves the Hakurei god?"
"N-no, but Tenma-sama!"
"I know what you are thinking, and you are right. I do not seek conflict with the humans, nor with other youkai. If matters can be solved peacefully, then they shall. What do you propose?"
Hatate gave Momiji a meaningful look.
Momiji, who had stayed silent until then, spoke up. "I wish to take leave for a few days and investigate on my own accord, Tenma-sama."
Tenma, knowing of Momiji's pride in her position as a mountain guard, was taken by surprise. "For what reason do you wish to investigate? This matter is not one that directly involves us, even taking Aya's rash decisions into account."
Momiji felt her resolve waver a bit, yet she would not let it end here. "Yes, I know it has nothing to do with us now, but I want to make sure that it stays that way, Tenma-sama. I can not let myself trust that someone as foolish as Aya be let to investigate this matter on her own. I will find the meaning of this and put and end to this before our home is put in danger by Aya's action."
It was always Aya who brought trouble, that tengu knew no boundaries. Tenma mentally made a point to give her a well deserved punishment.
"Very well. You have served our clan well, Momiji, and you are a dutiful guardian. I shall allow your request. I ask, however, that when incident is resolved you bring Aya to me. That is all. You may leave."
Hatate raised to her feet and bowed politely before leaving. As soon as she left that room, it felt like all the tension she was building in her muscled had been lifted. "Well, I guess the easiest part is done." she smiled at Momiji. "Undoing what Aya did will be harder. But I'll trust everything will go well!" the tengu put her hand on Momiji's shoulder. "Good luck!"
Momiji looked up to Hatate, and smiled a bit. "Thank you Hatate, I shall do my best." She turned to bow to Tenma, "I shall restore honor to our village and set right what went wrong, I swear it."
Tenma nodded. "I'm sure you'll do great, Momiji, you always were the dutiful one. For now, return home. I assume you are to leave tomorrow, before you do, report to me. Pack only the essentials, you haven't done an operation like this before."
Momiji bowed once again. "Of course, Tenma-sama."
She and Hatate turned to leave. Momiji felt nervous leaving the familiarity of her home, the comfort of being among her people, but she promised that she would do this for her village. This mission would be important to not only the village, but to herself. Who knows, maybe she would have changed for the better when she returned. One thing was for sure, she'd have to smack Aya in the head for causing all this.

"If you do plan to meet others for this, I'd suggest changing that scarf into something less suspicious. Bandages or the like. It's easier to believe Marisa got in a fight than Marisa got cold, Also more convenience".
“As much as I am a fiery person – thanks for pointing it out, Alice, but I already knew that.“ she grinned smugly while mentally patting herself on the back for her pun. “I’m still a human and humans are usually cold in this weather. I can’t go around using my mini-hakkero to warm myself up all the time.” She gently put her scarf back around her neck. “As for a plan… I have no idea… “she trailed off, but then her usual look of determination won over her hesitation. “Yet! But I’ll solve this! I dunno what that thing wants with me, but I’ll kick its ass for messing with me!”
Then the sound of a shutter clicking made the witch look at her side, already knowing who to expect.
“You seriously have to stop with the peeping, it’s creepy and you should feel bad about it ze.”
“Ah, come on, Marisa-san, I’m just doing my job. I am a journalist after all~.” Aya replied cheerfully, completely unaffected by Marisa’s comment. “More importantly, Marisa-san, what are your comments on your attack? Do you think it’s related to the incident on the Human Village?” she grabbed her notepad as she floated gracefully in mid-air.
Marisa frowned in confusion. “Incident? What are you talking about?”
“Oh~ You don’t know about it yet?” she feigned surprise. “Five people collapsed in the Human Village and they have yet to wake up. Some have mentioned an ‘odd green symbol’ on their necks.”
“What…?” So the thing wasn’t after her, it was after everyone it could get its hand on. Something like that attacking regular humans… They had just collapsed now but what could happen in the long run if that creature got stronger?
Aya peered from behind her notebook, her eyes sly. “I heard that a certain second-hand shop owner was one of them.”
And then the witch froze in place, reactionless, a torrent of thoughts invading her mind. She had promised herself she would never return, that she had nothing to do with them anymore, that she didn’t care but… If something happened to them, could she honestly say she wouldn’t regret not even seeing them one last time?
“Damn it!!” she cursed, angry not at the situation but at herself for being so weak. She quickly mounted her broom. “I’m sorry, Alice but I have to---“
“And apparently…” Aya interrupted. “Even one of the Three Mischievous fairies got attacked... Ayayaya~, so scary, not even we are safe!” She added dramatically.
Marisa stopped in her tracks and, without a second of hesitation, extended her hand towards Alice. “Hop on and hold on tight.”

(My conversation with Dani, as Keine (aka Buns Vs. Nerd))
When Keine arrived outside, she could watch the chaos in all its confusing splendor. People were pushing and practically running over one another, yelling for a miraculous medicine to save them from the whatever was causing people to collapse. She could see the rabbit youkai struggling to keep people from destroying their shop altogether, and everything was starting to weight on her nerves.
"Please, everyone, calm down! You're only going to hurt yourselves!" But her voice could barely be heard above the chaotic ruckus that was going on. No, she had to keep her composure, this was the same as controlling the children when they misbehaved. Yes, she had to remain calm and...
"BY THE SACRED TREASURES, STOP THIS NONSENSE AT ONCE AND CALM DOWN!" Her voice boomed like a thunderclap. The people stopped pushing and looked at Keine, surprised. "This won't solve anything! There can't be a medicine to cure something we fail to know its cause."
"But, that rabbit said she could cure it!" A villager pointed in Tewi's direction. "That isn't true! I promise I will find out what or who caused it but in the meantime I need you to---" "I'm not going to risk it!" And, inspired by that single villagers, the whole crowd resumed it's frantic pushing and yelling.
Keine clenched her fists. The mob mentality was certainly something frightening, and The crowd around the tiny medicine stand was growing larger, and more rowdy by the minute. The brief intervention from the local schoolteacher did little to abate the horde.
Reisen shouted over the crowd "TEWI! SIT THERE AND TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHO'S HERE FOR THE "CURE" AND WHO NEEDS ACTUAL MEDICINE!" She could barely hear her own voice over the roar of the crowd. After a short pause, Reisen heard a muffled "KAY"
She started to turn towards the hopefully best way out of this mess, then stopped and yelled back "AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON'T STEA-" "I WON'T! geez..." resounded through the air, cutting Reisen off mid-sentence. She sighed, and pushed her way through the drove toward Keine.
Emerging from the crowd, Reisen waved Keine over to somewhere where they could talk normally. She hoped Tewi would be fine handling things on her own. It wasn't even her job, technically. "So, Keine, your previous venture in taming this mess was met with utter failure. Do you happen to have something else in mind?" Reisen said, both annoyed and hopeful for an easy solution. "There are people in there who need actual medicine, not some magic miracle cure for an ailment that doesn't exist. Please calm them down." Keine's anger and frustration were overflowing by now. She was really doing her best to keep herself from exploding completely. The guardian, Yes... She was the village's guardian, she had to act responsibly. She couldn't just start beating people up, even if she was feeling awfully tempted to do it by now. She couldn't hurt humans, what would be of a guardian that hurts the very people she wanted to protect? But there was a human, yes, a human she always held as an exception to her no human violence rule. Yes, THAT person. She would beat her to a pulp along with that crow tengu scum.
The were-hakutaku saw the moon rabbit waving at her and approached her. 'Utter failure', she said. Keine didn't hear anything else. "Do you have any IDEA, of how hard it is to calm them down!? This was the very situation I was trying to avoid!!" she ranted, angrily. "I CAN'T just shoot danmaku at them and make them stop! If you know of a fail proof plan to calm them down, then I'd very much love to see it!"
Reisen recoiled a bit from Keine's outburst, then her eyes narrowed. She was not having the kinda of day where she wanted to deal with things like this, and cranky school teachers were not helping. "As matter of fact" Reisen said through lightly gritted teeth. "I have the perfect solution. And I know you won't like it"
Before Keine had a chance to respond or inquire, Reisen turned away and started walking toward the crowd of people, who were still panicking and tripping over one another. She climbed up a desolate stand, and then pointed her hand straight up in the air. Her fingers formed the shape of a gun.
Keine, suddenly realizing Reisen's "fool-proof plan", started to shout "WAI-"
BANG!
A gun-like sound resounded in the air, instantly quieting the mob and turning their heads towards her. "Eyes up here, everyone" Reisen shouted to the masses, then opened her eyes wide. There was a flash of red light, and suddenly the energy of the mob seemed to implode upon itself.
"I'm suddenly so tired", "I guess it's not that dire after all...", "I'll try again later..." The mumbles of the villagers started to quiet down as the mob began to disperse. A nice thing about wave manipulation was that it also affected brain waves, so she could control the feelings of anyone she came into eye contact with. "I'm not entirely sure how that works myself" Reisen though to herself "Glad it does though"
She climbed down from her pedestal, and turned to face a stern-looking Keine. "You do realize this will make things even worse when they come to, right?" she clenched her teeth, her voice menacing. "And you DO realize I'll be the one who will have to deal with this increasingly bigger ball of chaos, right?"
Reisen gave Keine a dry look, then replied:
"Well, later is not the current problem, and I'm more concerned with avoiding further injury right now. So what say we find out what the hell is going on here?"
"If only finding out what's going on was that easy." she answered in an equally dry tone. "The only thing I know is that people have been falling in a coma-like state and that something or someone is causing it. Someone that can use magic." she clenched her jaw, the urge to beat someone up returning once again.
"Well, that's where to start then" Reisen dropped the hostile air around her words, deciding this wasn't worth getting angry over. "If you would like, I could accompany you in investigation. I can make Tewi work the rest of the day. Otherwise, I have a shop to attend to."
Reisen knew that Eirin would want her to leave it to others and do her job, but she figured that she was already in trouble. This seemed like it could be interesting, anyway.
Keine looked at Reisen hesitantly. Tewi wasn't exactly trustworthy, but she did know that Reisen was at least level headed. She sighed, giving up. "Fine... I guess two heads are better than one." She looked at Reisen with a serious expression. "Just promise me you won't use that power without warning again."
"Unless it is of absolute necessity" Reisen agreed.
"Although..." she said, briefly pausing before she turned to yell at Tewi "You wouldn't know I used them if I didn't want you to."
Reisen gave an innocent smile, as if to say 'just kidding', then turned and yelled at Tewi to watch the shop for the rest of the day, and was met by a 'whatever'. Reisen sighed, "I suppose that's as good as I'm gonna get from her. Ah, well, it'll be fine. Where to?"
Keine frowned at Reisen's question as she reminded herself of her primary suspect. "Frankly, the only magician I know that could and would cause this amount of chaos in a short period of time is that black-white." She felt one of the veins in her temples pop as she remembered the Imperishable Night incident."Whenever she comes here, so does trouble."
Reisen crossed her arms, remembering the same incident. "Well, at least that's one thing we can relate in. She blasted quite a few halls in Eientei during her 'visit'"
Reisen glanced at the stand, where Tewi was looking exceedingly bored with what she was doing. She briefly looked up, made eye contact with Reisen (one of the few people willing to do that, believe it or not), and gave her a look as if to say "You owe me". Knowing Tewi's track record of things she has asked Reisen to do, Reisen had a quick pang of regret in deciding to go along with this.
In an effort to quell any doubts, Reisen quickly looking back at Keine, and concluded; "In any case, you probably have a better idea of where that magician could be. For now, you lead the way."
She nodded. "I'm just going to close the school and we'll be on our way." With, the odd pair turned and went on their way, Keine in the lead, starting the investigation of the mysterious illness.

“As much as I am a fiery person – thanks for pointing it out, Alice, but I already knew that. I’m still a human and humans are usually cold in this weather. I can’t go around using my mini-hakkero to warm myself up all the time."
Amidst the quiet atmosphere, when her soul had probably dazed off to a world of her own, Marisa's voice echoed through the air with the usual hint of cheekiness, that same unmistakable grin that perhaps had absorbed all of the morning sunlight inside. As if each of their thoughts of worry had turned into a musical note following her words, as if the robin had finally shaken off the fear and again emitted a song from its heart. Alice lowered her gaze, letting her hands slide off from the cold barrier, for once ignoring the slouching posture that was like a thorn sticking out after all this time upholding her mannerisms.
“As for a plan… I have no idea… Yet! But I’ll solve this! I dunno what that thing wants with me, but I’ll kick its ass for messing with me!”
So be it, Marisa.
Let's smile, laugh, dance and fight, and forget about all worries as if in the first place they never existed.
Tenderly, tenderly, saliva somehow tasted like blood as her lips tightened. Under the clear sun, her hair felt soft to the touch as she nonchalantly messed with golden locks glistening. A glimpse of their distance gleamed amidst a silent winter day, tethered her to reality.
The reality of an almost orderly, wistful morning getting suddenly disrupted, such a scene to be expected from Shameimaru Aya's appearance.
“Ah, come on, Marisa-san, I’m just doing my job. I am a journalist after all~."
Such a shameless face she had put on, it was not only her mouth that upturned into a smile, but also her gleeful eyes, her proud chin with sharp line that shone with a radiant grin, the grin that was, and would be filled with certainty no matter what. Without shame, yet it was undeniable that behind that smirk lay quite an amount of brain not to be expected from the tengu kind, such was the creature called Shameimaru Aya.
“Oh~ You don’t know about it yet?"
Such a bewitching look, as if a predator hungry for its prey.
"Five people collapsed in the Human Village and they have yet to wake up. Some have mentioned an ‘odd green symbol’ on their necks.”
In the stare of the crimson eyes that never wandered despite always moving her head as she wrapped Marisa around her little finger held a deep amusement. Being sole one here who was keeping silent the whole time, Alice couldn't help but slightly tilt her head. It's rather obvious that Aya herself had been around longer than they knew, yet she was unsure if that shameless self-proclaimed journalist had been aware of Marisa's conditions. God knows if she's going to announce it to the whole Gensokyo...
"I heard that a certain second-hand shop owner was one of them.”
...A beautiful coincidence, indeed.
Saliva tasted like copper as she pressed her lips in to a firm line, straightened her posture. Back as straight as a board, she felt a cold breeze on her skin, on her doll that had long since rested on her shoulder. Marisa's curses that reflected a hint of weakness, Aya's sly grin that would never be shaken off, fluttering bromstick and black feathers that shone in stark contrast under this winter, the feeling of this world turned upside down in a moment. As if she could hear people screaming, Aya's internal smirk, Marisa's unspoken words that perhaps had been buried under a dirty word so unbecoming.
“I’m sorry, Alice but I have to---“
“Even one of the Three Mischievous fairies got attacked... Ayayaya~, so scary, not even we are safe!"
“Hop on and hold on tight.”
Marisa's words that starkly contrasted her own former statement, so gently reached out to her as the little figure reappeared again in the corner of her view.
Ah, do you truly think I hold such care for the fairies, Marisa?
"Aya-san, please excuse us. We will be leaving. Do visit again".
Perhaps I should just let you think that.
The broomstick certainly felt hard to sit on, needless to say to maintain balance. Perhaps she should have decided to fly alone, or perhaps she would get off this thing when they're out of Aya's view. Indeed, that's only in the case the fastest creature in Gensokyo decided not to follow their footsteps. Her gaze strayed from Aya's crimson eyes to the blond shining hair fluttering, as if tenderly caressing her face.
"Marisa, I will say I can understand why you are worried for the Mischievous Fairies more than a random certain shop owner'.
Such a small whisper, gently faded out in the crystal clear sky.
Marisa looked over her shoulder at Alice, one brow raised in an arc. "Huh? Well, I am worried about them but... I think you're misunderstanding something... Oh." Her mind clicked.
"You thought I'm going to check on the fairies and that's why you tagged along? I plan to do that later, but that's not the reason why I wanted you to come with me." She frowned. "Alice, the fairies live close to us." She turned forward, her broom picking up pace.
"Think, for Aya to talk about it now, the attacks must've happened during the night. While we can't say for sure, we can assume that, currently, that thing only attacks when the sun is down. When I fended it off, it was almost morning. It wouldn't give it time to go and attack someone else. This can give us a timeline. First, it attacked the Human Village, then the fairies. They are the closest to the Village, then me. That creature was going deeper into the Forest, which means, the one most likely to be the next target is you. And like hell I'd leave you alone with that thing. You can act as bait later if you want, but I want to be there to make sure it gets caught and no one gets hurt in the process."
Her eyes strayed to Alice, a dead serious look on her face.
"That thing wasn't using danmaku, it attacked without reservations. We can't take it lightly." She frowned again, a mix of worry and guilt on her face. "As for the shop owner... he isn't just a random villager I know. He's..." She forced it out of her mouth. "...my old man." Her head turned forward again as she adjusted her hat with one hand. "That's about it ze." She added in a quiet but definite tone that seemed to say 'please, don't ask about it'.
Her broom picked up even more speed, heading towards the Human Village.

Once Sanae returned to the shrine, she made her way to the kitchen as fast as she could to start supper. As she made her way there once inside, she hurried past Suwako, who was laying on the ground staring at the ceiling.
"Ah, about time, Sanae~" she said, sitting up. "I'm so hungry. My stomach is growling!"
"Sorry about taking a while, Suwako-sama, I'll make sure the dinner is delicious for sure!" the shrine maiden replied, putting on an apron hurriedly and starting to prepare the food.
Kanako entered the kitchen, her arms crossed. "What took you so long? Suwako wouldn't be quiet about her stomach." she wasn't mad, however, she was curiously observing Sanae fussing around the pans.
Sanae jumped at the sound of her goddess's voice, turning her head to look at her. "A-Ah, Kanako-sama! Well...I got caught up in the village by Keine-san. She needed to tell me something important," she explained.
The goddess casually looked at the pan. "And I suppose it has something to do with a possible incident since you only get like that when something like that happens." she chuckled.
Sanae looked down at the pineapple she was slicing, nodding her head in response. "I've been told that some sort of crisis is going on invoking villagers passing out and some sort of glowing green phenomena being left on them," she explained, frowning. "I'm so confused...what is the meaning of this...?"
"Ah, so what came in that Tengu's newspaper was true? She came to deliver it when you left, I was going to use it to light a fire to bake sweet potatoes but that title caught my eye." she put a hand on her chin. "It's safe to asume that if there is a sigil involved, there also is a magician."
"Are you sure it involves Marisa-san?" the shrine maiden asked. "I don't think she'd purposely do anything like this. It's rather underhanded."
She waved her hand dismissively. "I don't think the black-white is involved. She might be a billigerent loose canon but I very much doubt that she would do something like this. That would be too serious of a prank to pull and even that girl would know it. However, I reckon she isn't the only magician around who could have caused this."
Sanae began to prepare the meat, chopping it up into small pieces and gathering them together in a pan, turning on the stove. "Then what do you think, Kanako-sama?" she asked curiously, returning to the fruit she was preparing and gathering them up in a bowl.
She laid her back against the wall. "Let's analyse our possibilities. First, we have the dollmaker, even if her specialty has nothing to do with this, something like cursing humans to an endless sleep isn't beyond her powers. However, I don't see any reason why she would do this. Even though she is a youkai, she maintained her human habits and from time to time she enjoys making doll plays to the village's children. I would remove her from our suspect list."
"Alice-san...yeah, I don't think she'd do this. She mainly keeps to herself, anyway, aside from doing kind things for the village kids," Sanae replied, moving back and forth between watching the meat and preparing the fruit mix. She wiped sweat from her forehead, admiring her current handiwork. "I'm pretty sure no one we know of is causing these incidents."
Kanako smiled. "Maybe. But we still have two more. We have the one from the Scarlet Devil Mansion, she could easily do this. It wouldn't be the first time that faction caused problems."
"Perhaps..." Sanae muttered, focusing on slicing apples. "But they get their supplies from the human village, don't they? I see their maid from time to time there."
"Good point. So the only one left..." she raised a finger in an explicative manner, her smile growing. "Is Byakuren. We should go raid her temple just in case!"
"Now now, don't be hasty, Kanako-sama," Sanae scolded, glaring at her a little as she put the cooked meat on a plate. "But I suppose it wouldn't hurt to go ask them about this."
Kanako sighed. "Do we really need to ask for their help? We should try asking the other magicians first. We can't afford to let them get more faith. Have you seen how much they've gathered lately? People love that tiger youkai." her hand went to her chin again. "Maybe people here like cat girls too? Humm... Sanae, how about you use nekomimi from now onwards?"
Sanae blushed and dropped her stirring spoon in slight shock. While she did have a pair of nekomimi...
"I-If we have to resort to that, sure," she responded, picking up her spoon. "But my point was that we should ask Byakuren-san and her friends about the incidents, not ask for their help. Though really, we should meet up with the other magicians, too."
She nooded in contentment. "Good." "If the magicians are no help them... I suppose we have to resort to the Myouren people. But I very much want to leave them as last resort." She approached Sanae and peered to the pans. "What are you cooking? It smells delicious."
"I decided that we'd have a meat and fruit combo tonight~" Sanae smiled, showing Kanako her finished product. "For the meat, we're going to be eating pork covered in sweet and sour sauce, and as for the fruit, I prepared some pineapple, apples, oranges, grapes, and strawberries. It's going to be delicious~"
"You're going all out today, I see." She petted Sanae's head. "Thank you." she turned on her heel as she walked out of the kitchen. "Seems like we chose well~" she chuckled.
Sanae blushed more in embarrassment, completely flattered. "I-It was nothing!" she said, smiling. "I just want you and Suwako-sama to enjoy this meal a lot. And myself, too. I'm quite hungry..."
"It has been a long day, hasn't it?" she stopped, looking to the sunlight entering the shrine. "But the night will certainly seem longer."
Sanae frowned as she took out plates an forks from the cupboard. "What if another villager falls victim?" she wondered.
Kanako's eyes looked at Sanae again. "Unfortunatelly, it is very likely someone will. Villager or youkai, no one is safe. We must act fast. Until we know who is doing this, there is no telling what will happen." Same sighed, feeling worried. "Right...well then, we should eat before the pork gets cold. And before Suwako-sama throws a fit."
Kanako nodded. "Let's enjoy our meal, then we can go back to solving Incidents. I would like to avoid yet another frog induced headache."
Sanae nodded as she followed Kanako into the other room with the food, plates, and forks. After their meal, then they would deal with the incidents, she thought. Perhaps she'd have to spend the night in the village...

~Written with the help of Dankiri's pokes~
"Gooood moooorning Paru-chan!" Yuugi made herself noticed in that area, with a loudness that would sure make a yamabiko blush.
Parsee growled and grunted a bit before snarling out: "Hrmph, must be a good day for you, because for me it isn't."
Yuugi donned a confused look. This is not the Parsee I know. Something's amiss here! "Oh, come on, we haven't even started! How about we paid the surface a visit, going to the Human Village, so you can experience the light above ground and the gentle breezes you envy so much?"
Parsee didn't budge an inch. "Why should I care? Nobody likes or cares about me. I'm jealous of the care and attention everyone else receives."
Yuugi reached out for a cooldown hug. "Don't act like that. You've got me--" Suddenly she felt Parsee was cold. Like, unnaturally so. Brrrr, this is very suspicious. What could possibly have happened to her? "Aren't you feeling cold there Paru?"
"No."
"I think you're in denial. I'll take you to the surface where you can get some warmth."
"No thanks, I'm fine as I am"
"No, you're not fine. You need warmth or else you will freeze!" By now Yuugi was resorting to pretty much pulling Parsee out of her idleness.
"Leave me alone!"
"Nuh-uh. You're coming with me to the surface!" Fortunately, getting physical worked for Yuugi as Parsee quickly realized that struggling against oni strength is futile.
"Fine. You win this time..."
"What are y'all doing? Is that a lovers quarrel?" Suika's voice rang as the oni approached them, as drunk and cheerful as ever. "Whatever you're doin', I want in on it. I'm so bored I think I might get sober." She added with a laugh.
"I'm taking Paru-chan for a walk up in the surface. Damn, was she hard to get movin' today. She seemed a lot worse than she was yesterday, much closer to how she was when I first knew her. I honestly dunno what's wrong, but some warmth never hurt anyone, right? And Suika, it's be more fun if I got as drunk as you were. Gimme a swig of your gourd!" Yuugi said as she quicky swiped Suika's magical gourd from right off her hands.
Disgusted by the sight, Parsee quietly said: "Drunkards. Don't oni have anything better to do with their miserable lives other than drink, party, freeload and smash things?"
Suika could faintly hear that, enough for her to approach Parsee: "What are you sayin'? I think I heard somethin' 'bout us oni."
"I was saying, don't you oni have anything better to do than drink, party and freeload?"
"Oh come on now, do you hate fun? Join us and you won't hate fun no more!" Then Suika too got ahold of Parsee's other arm.
She definitely wasn't going to struggle against two oni, and as a result she got dragged kicking and screaming out of their secluded underground home. Parsee is going on an adventure - albeit forced to...

The rest of the flight to the Human Village was spent in silence, only the sound of the wind ringing in their ears. Talking about her father always dampened Marisa’s mood. It made her remember what had drove her away from home in the first place.
She looked down, the Village was already visible. Tilting her broom down, she descended closer to the ground, eyes searching to locate the Second Hand Shop. They stopped on an old looking house and immediately she wanted to call if off and return home, away from that nagging feeling of worry. But then she noticed.
“Strange… Why’s the marketplace so deserted? It’s usually full of people at this time of the day.” Then one thought invaded her mind. “Don’t tell me…” 'Did the creature attack during the day?'
Looking around, she searched for any indication things were alright when she spotted a familiar face. She dropped from her broom and let Alice do the same. “Reisen, did something happen?” The moon rabbit looked at her strangely. Marisa arched her brow inquiringly but before she had a chance to ask, her eyes caught something flying towards her and she quickly backflipped out of the way as she watched the projectiles hit a food cart next to her effectively destroying it. Marisa stood dumbstruck staring at the broken wooden pieces.
“You’ve got some guts to show your face here, black-white.” Keine’s voice came. It sounded calm, dangerously calm and yet it felt menacing.
“What the hell was that about!?” Marisa gestured at the pile of wood that had previously been a food cart.
“Don’t play dumb! You know full well what you’ve done! That little prank of yours has endangered the villagers and this time you won’t get away with it!” She prepared another barrage of danmaku.
“Wha---?! I have nothing to do with the villagers collapsing! The Second Shop owner collapsed too, right? Why would I do this to my own---“
“Nice try! But your father collapsed one day ago and it was just a cold. So, it’s really true that you’re a terrible liar.” She was approaching Marisa and the magician could tell the were-hakutaku wasn’t playing around.
‘Damn you to hell, you stupid , lying crow!’ “I’m telling the truth! Look, if you can just let me--“
“Do you have any idea… of the chaos you’ve stirred?” Keine started, cutting her off. She looked at Marisa with eyes so cold she could feel a shiver down her spine. “Do you have ANY idea of how serious this matter is?!”
Marisa scrambled to the floor, avoiding yet another barrage of danmaku, barrage that ended up hitting a few more stalls. She looked at the stalls and reached a conclusion: even though her semblance was relatively calm, Keine was out of control.
“For once, you’re going to take responsibility for your actions!”
Keine wouldn’t listen to her. ‘I have to think of something... and fast… ‘ She breathed out quietly. “Heheheh…” The magician stood up slowly, earning a frown from Keine. “Hahah! Taking responsibility for my actions, you say? So what if it was me who did this? What are you gonna do about it, you useless guardian?” She gave the smuggest smirk she could muster.
Keine was seething with rage now. “So you’ve finally shown your true colors!”
“Hope they’re bright enough for you ze~” The magician mounted her broom with a hop. “If you wanna go at it that much, then you should try catching me first!” She stuck her tongue out for good measure and then blasted off.
“You…!!!” Without a second of hesitation, Keine was in hot pursuit.

WARNING! WARNING! A new challenger approaching!
The Mist Lake... Perhaps the biggest mass of water in the entirety of Gensokyo, home to numerous fairies and even some youkai. As it is normal in winter, both the lake and the river that flows from the Youkai Mountain are frozen, due to the pranks of a well-known ice fairy. Unknown to the danger that looms over Gensokyo, a little green-haired fairy flies over the lake, perhaps searching for someone... *BGM: Mist Lake [Arranged by O-Life Japan] (Touhou Kishinjou ~ Double Dealing Character)*"Cirno-chaaaaan!" shouted the fairy, as loud as she could. "Cirno-chaaaan! Where are you?" The fairy stopped midair and looked around, trying to find her lost friend. The mist that normally filled the lake made it kind of difficult to find anything, though. She couldn't help but sigh. "Just where is she...? We've been playing Hide and Seek for two hours now, surely she must've gotten tired by now... I hope she didn't get into a fight or something..."
The fairy slowly floated down, landing on the frozen lake. Normally, she and her friend would have reunited by now, both being tired of playing around all day. The only time she could remember where she was absent for a long time was when the Great Fairy Wars happened. She got shot down by her own friend for trying to stop her from doing something as stupid as starting a war... Thankfully, they both got on good terms again, and it was like nothing happened. However... There were still marks of ice danmaku in her body, and of course, she still had some scars in her heart... Suddenly, she felt a cold wind blowing from her back. She quickly turned around, only to find whom she had been looking for... She didn't come alone, though. --- "Sunny got attacked?" The green-haired fairy asked to her friend's companions. They were well known fairies around the area, if only for their pranks: the blonde one, clumsy like no one else, was Luna Child. Her friend, always wearing a dark blue dress like a starry night, was Star Sapphire. "Yeah." Star answered. "We found her lying down on the floor, badly hurt. She kept mumbling something about being attacked... We took her to that buddhist temple on the Human Village, since maybe they'll be able to heal her." "I'm sure it must've been that dammed Red-White! Or maybe the black-white witch! They're always bullying us fairies for no reason!" Luna complained. The fairy had never seen her as angered as now. "I guess it's normal for her to be like this... I mean, the three had always been such good friends..."
"We came to Cirno hoping she would help us get revenge on Sunny, since, you know, three fairies are stronger than two." Star explained. "However, she refused to team up with us, just like last time... ... I'm talking about you, you cold-headed fairy!" Her friend, named Cirno, was busy looking at the horizon on top of a little iceberg she had just created. She didn't seem to care about what Star said. "... Could you please knock some sense into her, Dai? You're her best friend, surely she'll listen to you." Star said, with a sigh. Daiyousei looked at Cirno, then back at the two light fairies. "... I'll try." she said, and she flew to the top of the little iceberg, stopping alongside the ice fairy. None of the two friends said anything for some minutes. "... Dai." said Cirno. Daiyousei looked at her with a curious look on her face. "You know that I am pretty much one of the strongest in Gensokyo, yet no one seems to believe it?" The green-haired fairy nodded. "Well..." The ice fairy grabbed Daiyousei by her hand. She struggled not to let out a surprised scream. "I think this is my chance. This attack on one of those idiots is the moment I've been waiting for." Cirno said, arrogantly. "If I find the culprit of the attack on that fairy, and beat him or her down, everyone will surely see that I am The Strongest Being in Gensokyo." The ice fairy looked at her best friend. "You understand what I mean, right?" She nodded, once again. The ice fairy let go of her hand. "I'm gonna show everyone who I really am! I swear it on my pride as the strongest!" She screamed to the sky, creating a little ice sword and raising it over her head. *BGM: Evil Twin Lake Spirit and Her Love ~ Lunate Elf Tomboy (Fantasy Maiden Wars Scarlet)*The ice fairy proclaiming herself as the strongest quickly started flying, without any specific direction. "W-wait! Cirno-chan, I'm going with you!" Daiyousei followed her friend, but she clearly struggled to keep up to Cirno. Soon enough, both fairies disappeared into the mist... "... They left us here, didn't they?" Luna asked. "They sure did..." Star answered, and let out a sigh.

Momiji/Koishi otp not as otp as Marisa/Alice though
“Sword and shield, check. Long sword, check. Great Sword, check. Healing herbs, check. Spare sets of clothes, check. Food for several days, check. Water canteen, check. Spell cards, I can’t be too safe.” Momiji Inubashiri quickly looked over her items the third time in the last ten minutes. She didn’t want to admit it, but she was rather nervous about this mission she had asked for. She hadn’t been off the mountain during her few hundred years of living, as pathetic as it might possibly sound, so this was completely new territory for her. She had only known of the human village from the newspapers Hatate had given to her, as well as the newspapers she had used as a fire starter (Aya’s newspapers, of course). She still vowed to get to the bottom of this. “Okay… that should be enough,” Momiji said, putting all but her sword and shield in her bag, how she could fit two person-sized swords in there will forever be a mystery. “Now, it’s time to g-“ Suddenly, a knock on the door. “E-eep!” Giggles, if it was Aya then Momiji would have thrown a sword by now. “I-I mean come in Hatate-san!” So Hatate Himekaidou, Momiji’s trusted friend for many years, entered. “So, are you ready Momiji-san?” Momiji calmed herself from the initial surprise. “Y-yeah, I’m ready. Let’s get going soon, okay?” “Alrighty,” Hatate said, “let’s go.” Momiji then slung her supply bag on her back, and they went to meet with the Tenma. It was all fine, for a bit. “So about what happened when I arri-“ “I-I don’t want to talk about it.” Momiji responded, blushing a bit, causing Hatate to giggle more in response, making Momiji blush more.
They arrived to the Tenma’s dwelling. Entering, they both bowed to the Tenma, as they had the day before. “So,” the Tenma began, “are you ready for your mission, Inubashiri-san?” “Yes,” Momiji replied, trying to mask her nervousness, “I am.” “Very well. Do you have your supplies in order? Weapons, spell cards?” “Three separate swords, and several combat spell cards, yes.” Momiji said, proud of the fact that she put so much preparation into her mission. “Then you are ready to go.” Tenma stated. “Your first task is to arrive at the human village, after you do so, make contact with the target, Shameimaru Aya, and knock some sense into her- how you do so is up to you. Once you finished with her, you are to investigate the village and the surrounding area for any suspicious activity, as if you were guarding the mountain, and get to the bottom of this, understood?” “Very.” Momiji nods. “I’ll make this quick, lady Tenma.” “I know you will. Now go along.” Tenma says. Momiji nods in agreement, and begins her trek to the human village. Not knowing where the position of it was made things difficult, but this wouldn’t stop Momiji.
Thirty seconds later... “Wow, that was fast,” Hatate said in surprise. “Did you really finish that quickly?” “N-no, um..” Momiji thought of what to say. “Um… where is the human village…?” “…” “…” “I’ll, um, give you directions, Momiji-san.” Hatate said. “T-thank you… d-don’t tell Aya please…” Knowing Aya wouldn’t let her live this down, Hatate gave Momiji directions, to Momiji’s relief. With directions in hand, she left without a word, too embarrassed to think of anything to say.
Momiji went to the border of the Tengu lands, the absolute farthest she had ever gone out during her many years of service. She had known that various minor goddesses lived around this area, as well as the Kappa (of which one was another good friend of hers), however Momiji had decided that, despite them possibly knowing truthful information about the incident in the human village, her absolute first priority was to arrive at the human village, and “beat the crap out of Aya.” With this in mind, Momiji followed the stream downwards to the base of the mountain, where she would be able to better see the human village. Suddenly, there was a splash of water. Momiji, anxious due to her mission, quickly drew her sword. “Who’s there?!” she yelled. She looked around, no one was there. The splashing continued, and upon closer inspection the sound came from underneath her. She looked below, and she saw… “a young girl…?” The girl seemed to be taking a swim in the nearby creek while fully clothed, seemingly oblivious to her surroundings. Momiji, sensing no threat from this odd girl, lowered her sword, planting it into the ground, observing her, perplexed by the thought of swimming in full clothes, and seemingly unworried that she’s in the wilderness alone. Eventually, the girl noticed Momiji. “Huh?” She looked up. Momiji got a better view of her, light green- almost gray- hair, dark green eyes, an odd way of dressing, which includes an odd capelet, sandals which appear to be slippers, and a wide brimmed hat- not a style of dress Momiji had seen before- but what had really caught her attention was the third eye the girl had. She had heard of a race that had them, but never had she seen one befo- Poke poke. “w-wha?! H-how did you get here so quickly?!” Momiji yelled as the girl had seemingly transported from being in the river to poking Momiji’s breasts. “I’m quick.” The girl continued poking. “Wow! Your funbags are big like Okuu’s!” Momiji blushed hard- either at having her breasts poked or having their size commented on- and tried to get the girl to stop by turning around. “I-it’s rude to poke someone’s breasts like that, e-especially without asking!” “But it’s fun!” The girl replied enthusiastically- a bit too much for Momiji. “W-what the he- h-hey! Let go of my tail!” Momiji jumped at having her tail grabbed. “But it’s interesting! I’ve never seen a girl with a tail before!” The girl, without asking for permission, then climbed Momiji’s back. “wow! And you have ears like Orin too!” She pokes Momiji’s ears, “I wonder why Orin has ears like you, but not a tail…” She verbally wondered, giving Momiji the chance to get the odd girl off her back. “Get off!” Momiji threw the girl to the ground, and pointed her sword at her. “H-hey, that’s not nice…” she seemed at the point of tears. “N-neither is molesting a girl like that!” Momiji was a bit hurt at the sight, but she was too embarrassed to be nice. “Now apologize!” “S-sorry, miss doglady…” This was the last straw. “I’m not a dog! I’m a wolf tengu! A wolf tengu isn’t the same as a lowly dog!” Momiji ranted. “But I bet they both like being petted, right?” The girl asked. “D-don’t you dare pet m-“ Unheeded, the girl petted Momiji, she relaxed a bit at her touch. “G-grrr… don’t think you’re getting away with this…” “You sound mad but you’re reacting happily.” Momiji’s tail is wagging, betraying the tone of her voice. “S-shut it…” Momiji angrily said. “aww, okay.” The girl stopped petting Momiji. “Are you still going to kill me, miss wolf tengyew lady?” she asked sadly. Momiji didn’t know what to be taken back by- the fact that the girl mispronounced “tengu” or that she thought that Momiji would actually kill her. She went with the latter. “I-I’m not going to kill you, you haven’t done anything wrong.” The girl’s face lit up instantly, “yay! So can we be friends?” She held up a flower she picked from the ground. Momiji smiled, “of course we can.” “Yay!” The girl said happily, jumping in the air. Momiji couldn’t help but be happy at the sight of this girl she just met being so happy. “Miss wolf tengyew lady, I have another question.” “What is it?” Momiji asked. “Do you have any food? I’m starving.” The girl held her stomach to further emphasize her point. Momiji said, “yeah, I have some. Help me make a fire, and you can have some.”
Some turned out to be a lot, as the girl, despite her small frame, ate as much food as Momiji ate in a week, which surprised her. Had she not eaten all the food Momiji had brought, chances are she would have continued without slowing down. “Aww, no more?” The girl said, finishing her seventh bowl of rice. “Yeah, um, sorry.” Momiji didn’t know how else to respond as the girl ate all the food she had prepared for the trip. “It’s okay.” She pats Momiji’s head again, “you didn’t know you’d meet a hungry girl like me.” Momiji looked up, “it’s alright, don’t worry about it.” She got thinking, “anyway… why were you so hungry? It was as if you haven’t eaten in days.” “That’s because I haven’t,” the girl answered. “H-huh?” Momiji said, “That’s not healthy. “But a girl who wanders around like me can’t really find much to eat. Last time I tried taking food from a tree, I made the two cute girls who farmed them angry, and I don’t eat animals because my sister said that they have feelings too…” This saddened momiji, somewhat. “Why do you wander around?” She asked. “Dunno… I had a reason, but I forgot what it was… I think I wanted friends…” The girl said, a bit saddened. “I see…” Momiji said. “Well.. I, Momiji Inubashiri, will be your friend.” The girl looked up, “r-really?” Momiji nodded, she beamed in happiness. “Yay~ My name is Koishi Komeiji~ Thanks for being a friend, Momiji~” She hugged Momiji in happiness. “Oh you…” Momiji hugged back. “Hey uh… do you think you can help me get to the human village, Koishi? I’ll buy you food when we get there, if you want.” “The village? Sure~ I know where it is~” Koishi said happily. “That sounds nice, but I like your cooking a lot!” “H-huh? I-it was nothing too fancy, though..” Momiji blushed a bit. “But it was great~” Koishi smiled. “T-thanks.” Momiji responded. “A-anyway I wouldn’t mind making you food, but we’d have to get there first.” “Oh, that’s easy,” Koishi confidently said, “we can take a shortcut underground and get there in minutes!” Momiji was surprised at how knowledgeable Koishi was. “Underground? Well.. okay.” “Yay~!” Koishi cheered. “Okay, we’ll head there in the morning.” Momiji nodded. “Also…” “yes? What is it?” Momiji asked. “can you be my pet…?” Koishi looked up as cutely as she could. “U-uh? I-I don’t know how to be one though, and I already said I was a wolf tengu, not a dog.” Momiji said. “C’mon, pleaseeeeeee?” Koishi continued. “Uh… I guess…? Don’t tell anyone, okay?” Momiji said, before being cut off by Koishi hugging Momiji tight. “h-huh?!” Koishi smiled, “you’re the best.” Momiji smiled a bit too, “I try.”
The next day… “Okay! Here we are, the underground!” Koishi said. “I-I see…” Momiji was nervous, not because it was underground, mostly, but because- “What’s wrong?” Koishi pulled on the leash a bit. “I-Is the leash really necessary? Where did you even get one?!” Momiji asked loudly. “I don’t remember. But anyway it’s important because the underground is dark.” Koishi answered. “F-fine, whatever…” Koishi said, “okay! Let’s get going.” With that they descended into the underground. Koishi wondered if, by chance, she’d meet one of her friends from when she lived underground. Time would be the only thing that would decide that, though.

Eyes searching her surroundings, Marisa speeded through the air, firmly grasping her hat. She wasn’t using all her speed, but even half of it was enough to keep a good distance from the were-hakutaku. The witch stopped above an empty lot the kids used to play during warm days, nothing there but the trees that signalized the beginning of the Forest of Magic. ‘Perfect.’ Standing on her broom, Marisa waited, arms crossed, and sure enough, the hakutaku arrived a few moments later.
“You sure took your sweet time. For a sec there I thought your strategy was having me die of old age ze.”
“Shroud Sign [Rain in Showa].” And out of the sky came a rain of danmaku bullets, showering down on Marisa at an impressive speed.
“In no mood to talk, huh?” Marisa asked rhetorically as she twirled through the gaps between bullets, avoiding them with ease.
“Land Sign [Three Sacred Treasures – Sword].” An ancient looking sword materialized itself on Keine’s hand, she swung it upwards materializing a few more in a circle around her. She pointed her own at Marisa, making the others zip towards her target.
The swords were so fast that the magician, who was still busy dealing with the first spell card, barely had any time to even notice them. She ducked out of the way and twirled downwards. “Gh...” But one of them still managed to slash her right shoulder and another grazed her left cheek, leaving a small trail of blood on it. Her left hand clenched her shoulder. ‘Oi, oi… Isn’t this bad? She’s really serious…’
“Why don’t you attack?! Are you mocking me?!” Came Keine’s angry question, but Marisa was too distracted thinking about her next move to answer. “If you’re not planning to do it, allow me!” Once more she pointed her sword at the blonde girl, commanding the swords to attack.
“Love Sign [Non-Directional Laser]!” The lasers coming out of her hand formed a whirlwind, deflecting all the swords and nullifying the danmaku shower.
“Did you finally decide to react?” Keine asked, another spell card between her fingers.
Marisa didn’t answer once again, she was looking at Keine, panting. Why did she feel tired out of a sudden?
It was bothering her, Marisa’s lack of aggressiveness. The magician was known to be destructive and flashy, and right now she was nothing of the sort. She was surely mocking her, it had to be that.
Keine clenched her hands. If that was the case, then the black-white was about to have a little surprise.
“Ambition Sign [Masakado Crisis]!”
And Marisa’s vision went black, a swarm of black and white monarch butterflies were surrounding her and she couldn’t see anything but the wretched insects around her. Keine said something in the distance but she couldn’t hear it, the sound of the flapping wings proving too loud for her ears. “Get out of my way!” She jumped from her broom and swatted them with it, successfully enough to clear a path in front of her. Albeit too late.
Something hit her chest hard enough to force all the air from her lungs, only when she was sent flying down did she notice it was an oversized magatama jewel.
The witch hit the snowy ground and went tumbling a few more meters until she hit a tree and came to a stop. And in a scene that Marisa would find comical if it wasn’t for the circumstances, the tree shook with the impact, sending the snow accumulated on its branches down to land atop of Marisa’s head. Keine landed in front of her, hands clenched. She slowly walked towards the girl.

(DM post with extra plot inside)
Keine stopped and knelt down besides Marisa.
The taunting, the empty lot and the refusal to fight. Keine wasn’t stupid, she knew how to connect the dots.
“…Have you calmed down now?” Marisa looked up at her, one hand on her forehead. It was bleeding, Keine noted, but Marisa didn’t seem to care. In fact, the witch was smiling as if nothing had happened.
Keine sighed in defeat. “I apologize for my behavior.” She moved her hand and gently cleaned the snow from Marisa’s head.
Marisa looked at her while the hakutaku fussed over the snow. She chuckled inwardly at how motherly she seemed at that moment. It probably came with the profession.
“It seems like I have misunderstood you… I’m truly sorry.” She petted Marisa’s head. “Thank you for bringing me back to my senses.”
Her cheeks were red now, she knew it. Being petted felt awkward, she was more used to conveying and having the others convey their feelings through danmaku battle as opposed to physical contact, especially this kind of physical contact. She wished she had her hat to cover her face with, but it must’ve fallen during all the tumbling.
“Y-yeah. You’re welcome. Besides, I did call you useless so, sorry ‘bout that.”
“You’re actually a good girl when you put your mind into it, huh?”
“What do you mean? I’m always a good girl ze!” She said with a proud grin. “Despite the fact you’re a thief and a violent thug?”
Marisa winced at the accusations. “I’m not a thief, I’m just borrowing---“ “That’s no good, you know? You should behave! But… I suppose I can let you off the hook for now.”
Marisa’s head was starting to hurt and something told her it wasn’t because of her hitting her head against the ground.
Keine extended her hand to her. “Here, let me help you. We need to patch you up.” The magician happily accepted Keine’s help and stood up, her hand still glued against her forehead. A new pang of guilt hit Keine as she looked at Marisa. Her clothes were tattered here and there and there were cuts and bruises all over. “I’m sorry…” The other casually waved it off. “Don’t worry, I’m used to it ze.” “… That shouldn’t be something you’d normally get used to...” Keine felt obliged to add.
But another voice interrupted the conversation. It was a trembling voice that seemed to lag behind, a voice familiar to Marisa. It was singing, singing cheerfully.

Marisa’s brain automatically connected the dots. “In the Forest! It’s the culprit, quick!” “Culprit…?” The hakutaku’s eyes went wide as she looked in the direction of the Forest. She was about to start running when a thud made her look behind.
The younger girl was on the ground, supported by her knees and hand, the other was grasping at her neck, a faint but noticeable green glow emanating from it.
“Kirisame-san!” She kneeled and removed the scarf. “This is….!”
“Don’t… worry about me! Don’t let it escape!” The symbol was burning, there was no mistake, the culprit was close.
The hakutaku clenched her hands. She wanted to run after it but… “You’re not in any shape to protect yourself.”
“Go! It’s your job to protect the village!”
“And its villagers!”
“I don’t live in the village, go!”
“You’re still a human!”
“Damn it, do it or I won’t forgive you for beating me up!”
“Gh…” Keine winced. “…Fine! Scream if something happens!”
“Just go! Be careful… that thing’s seriously dangerous!” Keine nodded and ran off. Marisa forced herself to sit down, supporting herself against the tree. Her neck was burning so much she felt the urge to start making unflattering remarks about the culprit’s mother’s dubious night-time job. Instead, she just grabbed her mini-hakkero and bit through the pain, focusing on her surroundings instead. Whoever tried attacking her would get a fine taste of Master Spark on their faces, she’d make sure of that.

Short entry here, I'm afraid, but it does open up some doors.
-
As night fell, Sanae slowly descended down to the entrance of the village and made her way down the quiet streets, on the lookout for the peculiar events Keine told her about. Before she left the shrine, she made sure that both of the goddesses were asleep so she could investigate in secret, her curiosity getting the best of her.
"I'd like it if another villager wasn't attacked by this phenomenon, but yet...if one were to be assaulted by it, and I witness it, perhaps an answer would become clear to me," Sanae thought, brandishing her gohei and a few spellcards. "After all, I'm quite well-protected if things go out of hand. Let's see how this goes..."
The shrine maiden continued on her walk, looking around cautiously. As she went forward, the only sounds reaching her ears were her footsteps, the leaves rustling in nearby trees, and her beating heart. She felt very tense about this. If Keine's words were true...
*SHATTER*
Gasping, Sanae turned to the sound of the shattering and noticed a broken window near by with a glowing green light on the inside. Widening her eyes, she hurried over to the disturbance.
When she looked into the broken glass, she gasped in shock when she saw a villager passed out on the ground with a glowing green object around his neck, its description fitting Keine's explanation.
Sanae cursed under her breath. She was too late to save the villager, but she figured that if she could retrieve the object, she could perhaps have it traced back and find the culprit.
She hurried over to the front door and went inside, making her way to the civilian who was out of commission. Squatting down, she hesitantly reached for the wooden plaque near the victim, looking at it as it glowed ominously in her hand.
"I need to tell someone about this..." she said to herself.

Reisen had been floating in the distance, observing the skirmish between the teacher and the witch. "I can't imagine what classes must be like with her as the professor..." Reisen mumbled to herself, as an enraged Keine threw another spell card. "I bet she throws chalk harder than Eirin does -ooh, that had to hurt."
She thought about joining in, but decided she had pissed Keine off enough already, and just watched it happen. As the battle went on, however, Reisen noticed something odd about Marisa's movement. She certainly wasn't showing the fervor she had when she busted down the front door of Eientei. Then, the black-white girl plummeted to the ground, and Keine quickly dived in pursuit.
"Ah shit" Reisen muttered. "Maybe I should intervene..." Reisen started to dive toward them, her eyes glowing red, when she noticed that things seemed to have calmed down. Pausing, she tried to listen into the conversation, but couldn't make out much more than "culprit", and that Marisa seemed to be hurt. Then Keine ran into the forest, and Marisa propped herself against a tree.
Reisen sighed, and floated down to where Marisa sat panting. "My duty as a doctor, I suppose..." she thought to herself, as she approached Marisa's tree from behind. Then she stepped on a particularly loud twig...

The underground trio was close to the surface - the first rays of sunlight could be seen above and the familiar orichalcum bucket was playfully swinging like a pendulum in the distance.
Despite her usual apparent enthusiastic demeanor, Yuugi was really quite worried from the inside. She was making progress after several weeks of going out with me, even starting to shed her usual dislike for crowds. She definitely does not look weak or sick, so what could have undone her improvement?
From the outside, Parsee seemed bitterly resigned but accepting of her fate of being a forced would-be adventurer with the two oni. However, her insides were burning with the green flame of jealousy. You oni are useless, good-for-nothing freeloaders, but damn, I envy your happiness. I envy your carefree attitude about life. I envy your enthusiasm for things. Her eyes lit up discreetely - an event that did not go unnoticed by Yuugi. Quickly, she donned a look of consternation. Paru-chan's eyes have never lit up like that for as long as I've known her. This definitely is no sickness and might very well be something serious.
Suika was wobbling in an apparent state of drunken stupor, but having no one else to discuss the matter with, Yuugi asked her: "Suika, take a look at Parsee." Suika glanced over her shoulder, then turned around in apparent amazement. "I'she doin' tha'thing where splits in'two?" Suika slurred out, confirming her drunkenness. Yuugi facepalmed. Damn, she really is totally sloshed out of her mind...oh well, I have no choice. "No, Suika, she's not going Tongue-Cut Sparrow on us. Yet. Can't you see that she's not well?"
Suika turned back and continued hobbling along as the two oni discussed the bridge troll's condition. "Wass th'matter?" "Did she look right to you?" "She look's like she needs sum'fun." "I can tell you for sure that she isn't well, and it's not just a 'lack of fun', either. Take another look." Suika obliged. "Her eyes be glowin' and she ain't fightin' dass' weird." "It's more than that, I'm sure. Do you think she is, uhhh..." There was a second of hesitation. "...possessed by some errant spirit from the underground or something...?" Suika laughed. Hard enough to echo all over the cavern. "Spirrs? Nonshenshe, sum'fun's all sh'nees, truss me *hic*" Suika's disbelief went largely ignored by Yuugi, however. Nothing useful will come out of this...let's hope I can find someone with whom to actually discuss this matter.
As if a wish was granted, the trio spotted two human silhouettes in the distance.
Curious, Yuugi sped up and approached the mysterious figures. Visitors? The underground almost never gets them. They then saw the familiar faded visage of Koishi beside an unknown girl, but before they could strike up a conversation with them Yuugi noticed the approaching bucket. "Get down!" she said as she tackled Koishi to the ground. The mysterious girl immediately put her shield up. "Behin'ye!" Suika said as she saw the bucket swing towards the unprotected back of the new girl. But before she could react, she took a hit like it was a wrecking ball. It knocked her on top of the Yuugi/Koishi dogpile. Parsee was a few meters behind that scene, and ended up unharmed. Stupid bucket girl messing with us again...whose idea it was to let you roam this place free, anyway?! Suika rushed to the aid of the piled-up girls. "Ar'y'allrigh'?"
Yamame, who was watching Kisume from above, dropped down and immediately donned a blank white-eyed look of shock. "D-do I w-want to know w-w-what's going on in h-here...?" Suika then helped them stand back up. Yuugi, then Koishi, then the wolf-girl. Yuugi then said: "We got visitors. A familiar face and someone we've never seen before, some kind of wolf-girl." Yuugi then got a bit angry. "And your Kisume just wrecked the first new face to come into our home in months." Yamame then said, confidently: "Don't worry, I can take care of her. Go on, continue your business." She then flew to Kisume and started giving her a scolding. As she was doing so she also raised the bucket, which had the result of Yamame's angry voice fading away gradually.
Suddenly, all eyes turned towards the myserious white-haired girl that had just entered the underground domain. Fortunately for her there was no hatred or hostility in those eyes. Only curiosity. "Who or what are you?!" the three fledgling adventurers asked in unison.

Collaboration with Dani.
As soon as the two fairies left the lake, they began to search for the merciless monsters that dared to attack an innocent fairy that was casually walking around the forest... Or at least that was what Cirno kept saying. However, neither of them had any idea where the shrine maiden or the magician where. Daiyousei suggested to maybe ask the tengu, since they had a newspaper and had to knew about most of the things shrouding Gensokyo. Cirno shuddered at the thought. The ice fairy had already been shot down by that creepy tengu with a camera once, because they wanted photos of her or something. Besides, Cirno was still mad at a certain tengu for refusing to correct her fight with the giant frog of the lake, so she quickly rejected the idea. Both kept thinking for a while. "I know! We'll ask the other fairies!" The ice fairy quickly shouted, and her friend looked at her with a puzzled look. "The other fairies...?" The green-haired fairy asked. To be fair, Cirno had a point. Whenever there's an incident, most fairies join the party, wanting some fun, only to be shot down by the shrine maiden, the magician or who ever else is solving the incident. "... Okay, then. Maybe one saw the red-white shrine maiden or the witch... It's worth a try." However, their search turned out to be mostly unsuccessful. Most fairies were just having fun or thinking of the next prank, and no one had seen who they were searching for, or heard of an incident. In fact, most of the fairies didn't even knew about Sunny getting attacked, nor did they seem to care. Until finally... "The black-white witch? Well, I haven't seen her." A red-haired fairy answered. Cirno and Daiyousei were about to continue searching, but the fairy stopped them. "However! I've seen some danmaku near the forest, and one of those scary lasers the witch used against us several times... Maybe that was her?" "Near the forest! Alright, we got her!" Cirno said, and quickly flew straight to the forest. Daiyousei sighed and wondered how Cirno wasn't the fastest being in Gensokyo. "Thanks, take care." She said to the red-haired fairy and followed her friend. The fairies reached the part of the forest where the danmaku fight had been sighted, and quickly hid behind a tree. The black-white witch whom they had been searching was there, sitting down. Daiyousei noticed the witch seemed like she was in pain, but Cirno didn't seem to care. "It's the perfect chance. That witch will pay for what she has done." Cirno said, preparing her trademark spellcard. "Cirno, wait!" The green-haired fairy stopped her friend, then pointed at something near the witch. A purple-haired rabbit girl, approaching the tree where the witch was supporting herself with. "Maybe you'll hit her as well..." "I don't care! It's her problem for being in the way!" The ice fairy answered, then prepared herself for a spellcard declaration. Marisa kept her focus, eyes scanning her surroundings while trying not to get paranoid about all the little sounds and--- SnapThe black magician jumped a meter in the air, not unlike a scared cat, and turned her mini-hakkero towards the source of the sound. "GAAAH! DIE! MASTER SPARK!!" The bright and colorful beam zoomed through the tree where she had supported herself seconds ago... as well as any other tree in a 5 meter radius. The fairies quickly retreated as soon as they saw the witch jumping into the air, then watched as the spark engulfed the trees and whatever was around them. Cirno put down her spellcard. She wasn't the smartest fairy around, sure, but everyone in Gensokyo knew better than to not get in the range of that spellcard, and Cirno was no exception, since she tasted it countless times before. However, her relative calmness only lasted as long as the beam did. As soon as it died, Cirno created a little ice sword in her left hand, then flew straight for the black-white witch, letting out a warcry. The magician wheezed as the beam died out. She felt suddenly tired again... what was happening to her? 'Damn... that was pathetic... getting scared like that...' Had the previous encounter with the creature shaken her that much? She put a hand to her face. "Ugh... this is the suckiest day ev---" Then came a cry and she quickly turned to it. Cirno was flying towards her, no doubt to attack her. A vein popped on Marisa's head. With a quick movement of her hand, her broom returned to its master's hand and was promptly swung against the offending fairy. The ice fairy blocked the broom swipe with her sword, then quickly retreated to avoid being hit again. "You black-white idiot! This'll teach you to not bully innocent fairies!" she said, as she quickly took out a spellcard. " Ice Sign [Icicle Fall]!" She declared it, and several icicles appeared around her. The icicles flew to the sky, then started raining down on Marisa. Meanwhile, Daiyousei was watching the fight between the two, worried that Cirno might suffer the same fate as the trees that the witch sparked down. Despite her tired state, Marisa dodged the projectiles with ease, she was frankly more than used to Cirno's spell cards. "What are you even talking about, you idiot?! I didn't attack anyone! I'm the one constantly being attacked here!!" Today was definitely the worst day ever. She spinned her broom and raised it up towards the sky. " Star Sign [Gravity Beat]!" A blue energy orb left her broom, disappearing to the sky only to fall down on Cirno seconds later. Cirno got more angry as the witch dodged her icicles and affirmed that she didn't have anything to do with Sunny being attacked. In fact, the ice fairy didn't even notice the blue orb. "Don't lie, you idiot! I know that you and the red-white attacked Sun-- ACK!" Cirno got struck down by the energy orb, and ended up falling to the floor. "Cirno-chan!" The great fairy cried, and she rushed to her friend's aid, putting herself between the two. "T-that's enough!" Marisa stopped, she didn't feel like fighting in the first place. And that surprised even herself.

Gahh, warning, sloppy entry ahead.
It was just a food cart! A perfect spot to lean on, right?!
Who knew it was going to blow up in the next few moments?
Mokou's bones began to reform, her tissues grew and sinew knitted together. Her heart started pumping and blood flooded through her half formed vessels. A pink, mushy, pulsing mess grew and a layer of collagen formed a dome shape over it. Mokou was whole again. She blinked twice rubbed her eyes with the base of her palm.
How long has it been? Certainly long enough that nobody was around anymore except one. Mokou looked up. A fuzzy outline, an exceptionally frilly outfit. Blink. Silver hair. Blink. A maid on a shopping trip.
"Sakuya!" Mokou exclaimed, hurrying to the figure.
Turning around, Sakuya looked at Mokou, "Yes, Miss Fujiwara?".
"Keine, where is Keine"
"I believe the Hakutaku ran off into the forest. It seems the black and white magician convinced her." said Sakuya, her calm demeanour unfaltering. "Protection of people in forests is your job, is it not. I suggest you pick up page."
Mokou turned on her heel, wings blazing with fiery energy sprouted out of her back. Mokou sped full speed into the forest after Keine, the worst possibilities repeating like a broken record in her head.
Sakuya raised an eyebrow and turned a little to the side of the forest. Her interest lay with the erratic magician.

Momiji slowly stood up, brushing her clothes off after that weird thing, apparently a girl in a bucket ( ‘what the hell?’), hit her. She tried stretching a bit. “ Who or what are you?!” she heard the three newcomers say. She looked up at them- one tall blonde with a horn on her forehead, an average height blonde girl with long ears and striking green eyes, and a seven year old drunkard with orange hair and two large horns. ‘Interesting crowd’ Momiji thought. Before she could answer, Koishi spoke. “Hey! Be nice you three, my new friend just got hit by a flying Kisume.” Koishi was pouting that her new friend was injured, and the best thing they could say is “Who or what are you?” “Oi, sorreh eye-girl.” The shortest began speaking in a slur- further cementing Momiji’s suspicions of her drunken state. “Jus’ that dis day haz been a bit weird, so fah.” “Oh?” Koishi asked, “What do you mean?” The shortest pointed to the two blondes, and then Koishi made the connection. “Oooh, I see. They’re having a lover’s spat.” Koishi and the drunkard both laughed, the two blondes didn’t really notice- Momiji just stood on the side, watching the scene unfold. “Er… anyway, I’ll introduce myself.” Momiji tried to break the tension. “I’m Momiji Inubashiri, a wolf tengu who guards Yokai Mountain from intruders. I’ve come to-“ “Oi, dog g’rl,” the shorter girl interrupted, “if you’re fr’m the Mounta’n, why haven’t I seen ya b’fore? I’ve been there plenty o’ tim’s and I’ve ne’er seen ya ‘til now.” ‘This’ll be harder than I thought…’ Momiji thought to herself. “First, I’m a wolf tengu, not a ‘dog,’ second, I’m almost always on patrol in the mountain.” “Th’n,” the girl continued, “what’re ya doin’ here instead o’ the Mounta’n?” She quizzically looked at Momiji. “That’s the thing,” Momiji started explaining, “Lately there’s been a disturbance in the Human Village- several residents have been found injured with no real culprit or reason as to why it happened. Unfortunately, one of my colleagues (‘who is really stupid’) spread misinformation of this incident, causing fear and terror, as well as possibly endangering my home to, er, intervention from a certain shrine maiden.” The other four, knowing full well what that entailed, shivered in synch. “Therefore,” Momiji continued, “I took it upon myself to stop the harm that would possibly come to my home, and to teach that idiot a question.” The odd trio seemed intrigued by this information. “An’,” the drunkest began, “why’re ya takin’ the satori-girl ‘long with ya?” “That’s easy!” Koishi said, “I’m leading her through the shortcut here so we can get there sooner. She’s my friend so I want to help!” Koishi seemed really enthusiastic, in spite of the information Momiji had just given. “Yes, that is why Koishi here is helping me- also why she has me on a leash.” Momiji rubbed her neck where the leash had been yanked after the tallest girl pushed Koishi down to safety- it’d hurt for a while, she was sure. “Anyway… I think it’s time for you three to introduce yourselves?”

Behold the strongest collab ever by me, Alzack and Shadie!Part 1/3
Before Reisen could comment on the inconvenient snapping of the twig, she heard a familiar charging sound, and knew what It was almost immediately. Reisen might not make much contact with the outside world, but everyone in Gensokyo knew what that sounds was, and Reisen was no exception. She quickly threw herself to the side, just in time to mostly avoid the murderous rainbow laser. Unfortunately, the spell still managed to singe the bottom fringes of her hair, setting it lightly aflame. “Ah, shit” Reisen muttered to herself, and hurried in applying snow to the lit areas. “I’d think the only fire I’d have to worry about today left me at the village”. By the time Reisen had managed to put out the unfortunate fire, the situation had changed quite drastically. Looking toward Marisa’s location, she could see both the witch and a blue fairy facing each other angrily, although it seems that Marisa was holding her own. There was also a green fairy, who was currently rushing into the fight. Reisen sighed, and decided she should probably do something about this, even if it was calming down. She made herself invisible by manipulating the light around her, then walked directly in front of Marisa. Then, with another red flash of her eyes, she extended the manipulation to the area surrounding Marisa as well. Turning to Marisa, she said “Well, this is a fine mess you’ve gotten yourself into. Everything alright?” As soon as Marisa saw Reisen pop out, she gave two careful steps back. 'Ugh... what now?!'
She immediately relaxed when the moon rabbit spoke, apparently there were still people who didn’t want her butt kicked around. The magician sat down on the snowy ground, her hand absently rubbing the glowing symbol on her neck. “A complete mess ze… “ She sighed. “Everything’s alright, I guess… But I’ve seen better days, that’s for sure…” The witch winced a bit when she moved her slashed arm. Now that the adrenaline was wearing off, everything hurt. Daiyousei let out a gasp as soon as Marisa disappeared from her sight. She looked around, but saw nothing more than trees and snow. "U-um... Hello...?" she asked, perhaps a little frightened. Meanwhile, Cirno recovered from being hit by the energy orb, and quickly stood up, taking out another spellcard. "Okay, you idiot witch! You got lucky, but this time you won't-- ... Uhm..." The ice fairy looked at her friend and asked "Dai, where's the witch...?" "I don't know, she suddenly disappeared..." The green-haired fairy answered. With this statement, Cirno burst out laughing pridefully. "Clearly she got away, because she feared my great attacks! Too bad I didn't get to unleash Ultimate Blizzard on her. She'd freeze of fear!" and she continued laughing. Daiyousei, on the other hand, mentally facepalmed. “Well…” Reisen started to inquire about Marisa’s wounds, when one of the fairies behind her starting laughing uproariously. Reisen’s ears twitched, she let out a tired sigh, and suddenly everything was quiet aside from Marisa’s ragged breathing. Reisen’s powers over waves and light have more domestic uses than you would think. “WELL…” Reisen continued, “If I’m to believe my eyes, and I can personally say I can, things are looking pretty rough. The impressive laceration on your shoulder not-withstanding, you’re obviously disoriented and concussed, which is honestly looking like early Hyperpyrexia to me. And I don’t know what the hell is up with your neck, but we can save that for later. First things first, aid.” The lunar rabbit stepped toward Marisa and put a hand on the bottom of her skirt. A little confused, and taken aback from Reisen’s actions, Marisa managed to let out a hesitant “…huh?” Reisen paused, “Hmm?” looking up at Marisa’s countenance, which was a mix of confusion and fear, Reisen’s face blushed a deep red. “Oh, uh, sorry I do that sometimes. In layman terms, your arm is cut bad, your body is tired, and you’re running an outrageously high fever. Now hold still and let me bandage that cut.” With this, not giving Marisa time to interject, Reisen tore a strip from Marisa’s skirt, and then began to treat her wound. Despite her wounds being obvious, the fact Reisen could make her such a diagnosis in that short amount of time impressed here. She observed as the rabbit worked. “Thanks, Reisen.” It wasn’t a word she threw around often, but she did feel thankful for Reisen’s help, she didn’t have to bother herself with Marisa, yet she did. ‘A true doctor at heart, huh?’“Don’t worry about the green symbol on my neck that was the creature’s doing. It tried to attack me like it attacked the villages and it left that ze. I’m still trying to figure out what this is…” Another, more important thought popped up in her mind. “I know you said it’s not looking good but, on a scale of 1 to 10 how much of a mess is my body?” There still was something she had to do. “1-10 scales are unprofessional” Reisen said sarcastically while diligently working on the wrap. She then shifted into a more serious tone, saying “But you can hardly stand, your forehead could fry rice, and I’m still worried about the mark on your neck, which is glowing. That’s usually not good.” Reisen finished her work, and stood up. After giving Marisa another visual run-down, she looked down at Marisa with a stern look. “If this was a normal day, I would prescribe you some medicine and send you off. But this day is anything but normal.” She extended a hand to Marisa, and concluded “I would prefer you come with me back to Eientei. I’ll carry you If I have to.” The ice fairy finally stopped laughing, and breathed for a while. "Okay then, since the witch fled, let's go find the red-white shrine maiden, Dai." She began her flight again, but stopped midair. "Oh, let me tell you this. Whenever I see that witch again..." she said, creating an ice column and summoning an ice mallet, which she griped as strong as she could. "I'm going to do this!" She said, hitting the ice column, breaking it, and hitting an invisible rabbit's waist in the process. *BGM: None*
The ice mallet rebounded off of Reisen’s waste with a sickening crunch. The impact sent Reisen flying sideways, and the field of manipulation and illusion disappeared immediately. A few second passed where no one said anything, and Reisen just lay in the snow. Then, after what seemed like an eternity of silence, Reisen started to work her way to her feet. Marisa rushed to her help without really thinking, and supported her, helping her get back on her feet. "H-hey... are you alright? That made a really painful sound..." She could already feel the aura of anger emanating from the moon rabbit. Reisen accepted the help offered by Marisa, and then lightly shoved her out of the way, still slightly slumped over. “I’m fine…” Reisen assured Marisa, then made a twisted face, “hold on… “ With a loud crack, Reisen swung her hips to the side, and then stood up straight. “Yeah, I’m fine. Actually, this couldn’t have come at a better time.” Reisen gave a sideways look at Marisa, her eyes glowing bright red. “My job is a busy one, with little time to anything besides. I work, sleep, and repeat.” Reisen laughed a little, a twinge of insanity in her voice. “I generally don't mind it, but sometimes, I just need a little time off to VENT!” On this last word, Reisen spun around and faced Cirno. She stood straight up, and narrowed her eyes on the small, blue fairy. The ice fairy looked at the lunar rabbit, not seeming frightened or scared at all. "Did I hear right? You're challenging me?" She crossed her arms, grinning. "I'm the strongest in Gensokyo, you know that? If you think you can defeat me..." Cirno took out a spellcard, summoned an ice sword and pointed Reisen with it. "... You're making a grave mistake." Daiyousei stepped back a little, and covered her mouth in fear. "Cirno-chan... Not again..." She reached her hand to her pocket. If she had to step up and protect Cirno, she would do it. No question. Reisen gave a small smile, then tilted her head ever so slightly to the side. “Oh, I remember you now. We fought that one time, didn’t we? I’m sorry for not noticing sooner, I tend to forget insignificant things that happen to me.” Reisen put her hands behind her back, and seemed to visibly relax, eyes aglow. “I seem to recall that I kicked your ass pretty hard then. At least I know this will be no harder than swatting a fly.” "Last time I held back, because I pitied you!" the ice fairy said pridefully.

"However this time I will not hold back! At all! Ice Sign [Icicle Fall]!" she declared the spellcard. A bunch of icicles appeared around her, flew straight into the air and fell down on Reisen. The icicles fell on Reisen with a resounding crash. The dust cleared, and there was nothing there. “Hah! I beat her so hard that she disappeared! That was easy!” Cirno beamed, proud of her immediate victory. There was a light tap on her shoulder, and Cirno answered without turning around. “Did you see that, Dai? I truly am the strongest!” “Oh, you think so?” A voice whispered back. “I seem to remember hearing a story from that red-white. I believe she ALSO gave you quite the beating. That’s hardly evidence to your point….” The world seemed to shift slightly as Cirno turned to face a pair of gleaming, glowing red eyes. "U-uh... Dai...? Your voice changed, and I don't remember you having red eyes... No... Wait..." The ice fairy stepped back. "Y-you're not going to trick me again!" She began firing icicles in the direction of those red eyes. Once again, the attack hit its mark. But elsewhere, a voice continued. “You have pretty good aim with those icicles of yours, fairy. It’s a shame they have never actually hit their mark!” Above Cirno, three images of Reisen appeared, and they all said, in unison “AGAIN and AGAIN! I can’t count the amount of times you’ve lost on my hands!” Reisen gave another laugh, “The miko, the witch, the maid, the samurai! They have ALL STRUCK YOU DOWN!” "S-shut up! I just held back!" The fairy continued shooting icicles non-stop at the images. All three images disappeared at once, and one lone figure appeared directly in front of Cirno. The tinge of black hair looked particularly demonic as Reisen slowly advanced on the fairy. “The only skill you seem to possess is “holding back”". You’re nothing but a stupid fairy. You couldn’t even see through my illusions, even though these are the weakest ones I have!” Reisen chuckled knowingly, “Well, here I am! No more illusions. You say you were holding back, well now is not the time for that! HIT ME WITH EVERYTHING YOU HAVE!” Reisen was practically spitting in Cirnos face. Cirno stood there in silence, for about a minute. "Ice Mass [Great Crusher]!" She created a giant ice hammer and smashed Reisen with it several times, until the spell card timed out. "I-is that good enough for you?!" She said, panting. “Certainly” and from the sparkle of the disappearing danmaku, a right hook connected with Cirno’s jaw. The tiny body went sprawling backward, and she was caught by the green-haired fairy. “So, your strongest attack is a hammer? Something so easily grazed is hardly worthy of the strongest fighter in Gensokyo…” Reisen blinked forward and got in Cirno’s dazed face. “There, you tried your hardest, and you failed. I won that fight in one hit, and you used everything. Your hubris is your undoing.” Reisen turned around, but before leaving, left a final parting shot. “And you even dared to attack a battered, tired, sick, AFFLICTED human. I dare say you are no better than a pathetic, rabid Youkai…” Reisen left the two fairies, and returned to the injured witch. In the snow, it seemed that the black tips of her hair had spread a tiny bit upward... "H-hey, could you not make me sound that weak...?" Marisa sweatdropped. "Oh, hush. Don't deny it." Reisen repeated her invitation from before. "I need to take you to the Lady" Silence was the dominant element between the fairies. Daiyousei looked at the unconscious body of her friend, and slowly let it down on the floor. "Yeah, but I still---" Marisa looked at the fairies, something seemed to be happening. The great fairy took out a spellcard. She had only recently got enough magic power to make a few spellcards and she didn't even know how to use them properly. Still...

The strongest collab! Part 3/3! Goddamm this was awesome.
" Ice Spirit [Varuna Purge]!" The fairy declared her spellcard. This was the first time she had ever done so. She fired several bubble-like danmaku, which exploded and spread little icicles around. She was clearly aiming at the lunar rabbit, with murderous intents. Reisen spun around to face an impressive array of danmaku speeding toward her and Marisa. She could feel the ice around her start to tremble, as if trying to break free from the ground. Instinctively, she started to manipulate the waves of light around her, when a sharp pain coursed through her skull. Briefly recoiling, she winced, then turned and charged at Marisa. “ Wonderful time to discover I’m too exhausted for this” she thought to herself, as she ran as fast as she could to the witch. Reisen grabbed Marisa’s hand in a full-on sprint “We’re leaving, don’t argue, hang on tight”. And with that, Reisen started to fly in the general direction of “not here”. "No, we aren't!" She said firmly. She let go of Reisen's hand. "We can't leave just yet!" Marisa turned towards Daiyousei, hands opened in front of her. "Dai... Look, I understand you're upset and that maybe Reisen took things a bit too far but..." She breathed in, trying to collect her thoughts as quickly as she could with her tired brain. "There's a dangerous enemy wandering about, a friend of mine, Keine went after it. She hasn't returned yet... I'm worried something has happened. You understand that, don'tcha? I can't run away or stay here to fight, I gotta go and search for her." Her amber eyes didn't leave Dai's. "Cirno got hurt, but something way worse may happen to my friend if we keep wasting time. Please, calm down?" Daiyousei canceled the spell. "... If it is that important, I guess..." "... Wait... A fairy got attacked, her name is Sunny Milk. Cirno and I have been searching for the perpetrator, and we thought it may have been you or the red-white miko..." Dai tilted her head down. "This dangerous enemy of yours... Is it the one that attacked Sunny...?" Seeing Dai cancel her spell was like lifting a weight from Marisa's shoulder. She didn't show how relieved she was though. "Yeah, the same." She pointed at the symbol on her neck. "It tried to attack me too and left this. It has to be stopped before it attacks someone else." She looked back at Reisen. "And I suppose studying this symbol would benefit you greatly, wouldn't it?" She grinned. "So you're coming with me too, since I ain't leaving without Keine ze." Reisen gave a tired sigh. “Well, that’s certainly part of it” she admitted guiltily, “But I’m serious about you being in rough shape. Don’t push yourself. In any case, I’ll come along.” “ Also” Reisen muttered at a lower volume, “ I need something to show to Eirin for all of this…” She was not looking forward to the prospects of her masters’ rage. "I'm sorry." Marisa looked at Reisen again, smiling apologetically. "I promise I'll go with you to Eientei once we're finished here." Daiyousei looked at the witch. "Can we go as well? I mean, since we're searching for the same person... And we can help. Maybe..." She wasn't that sure of what she was saying, in fact. However, if more people got attacked... Staying together was the best option. Marisa looked at Dai and smiled. She could be a little rough with the fairies sometimes but they too tried to give their best and improve. It was a feeling she knew too well. "You can join but I have to warn you... This creature doesn't use danmaku. It attacks without any reservations. It will be dangerous." "D-don't worry about us..." The green fairy said. "Cirno is still the strongest fairy around and I can defend myself... And we respawn if killed so we'll be fine." Daiyousei smiled as she picked up the still unconscious Cirno. " If that rabbit dares to touch Cirno again, she'll need more than immortality to make me stop." Dai thought, her eyes shrouded in tears. Marisa approached Dai and petted her head. "Thanks for joining in." She made a movement and her broom returned to her hand. "Let's go ze!"
