How did you get into Touhou?

I actually have known Touhou for a long time before I actually got into it. I have been into Japanese anime and mangas (Or if you like to use the word an "otaku") for 10 years now and I have came across Touhou in more than one occassion (Not surprising since the amount of attenttion things like bad apple receives).

The first real touhou experience I had was in my first year of university, one of my upper classmen played Hisoutensoku, at that time I don't even know that it is a touhou game. I regularly played the game every night with friends since I lived in a dorm in my first and second year of university. Unfortunately, as exciting and as enjoyable I find Hisoutensoku, it wasn't the game that got me into touhou.

In fact, the thing that dragged me into Touhou was not the games but the music, I like listening to piano arrangement of anime's opening songs, and one day I came across Mystia's theme, deaf to all but one song in the piano version. That was the start of my attraction to Touhou. I found out more and more about touhou songs, from reach for the moon, UN owen was her, etc etc

The songs of Touhou is what got me interested in touhou, but what truly made me stay was it's lore. I love reading about Gensokyo, about why certain things happen (That's why I love the written work so much) sadly, this means that I am not that good in the games (but I am training!). So yeah, I could continue on and on about that I like touhou but that's why I got into touhou in the first place.

I heard a few black MIDIs of UN Owen Was Her and Bad Apple back in 2012-2013, and I started to get interested in it back when I joined a Fire Emblem fansite in 2014, and finally got around to playing it a month or two ago

I randomly found a "Top 10 Touhou themes" video on youtube, I was curious to see what Touhou was so I started to watch the video. I really liked the music so I started to look and see what the Touhou games and stuff were.

I my earlier days of playing this circle clicking game called "osu!", I played a beatmap of Masayoshi Minoshima's "Bad Apple" arrangement and I freaking loved it (Which is rare because at the time, I was very hostile against Japanese music). I later decided to look at the top left of the screen while selecting the map for once and saw the name, "Touhou". I googled it and immediately thought "The hell is this weeb shit" and forgot about it for a solid 6 months until one fateful day, I looked up on Youtube "What is Touhou". I then thought "Hey, this looks fun, but I might not get into it since it's a shooter game.". I downloaded Touhou 7 after googling "What's the best Touhou game to start with". Y'see, I was using Ubuntu with Wine 1.8 and with Touhou 7, input would lock up and I wasn't able to leave the title screen, so I got Touhou 8. I PLAYED THAT GAME FOR 7 HOURS STRAIGHT WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING WHAT SHIFT DOES. Needless to say, I had game happy fun times playing that. Then I played Touhou 6 and hated it because Sakuya's ugly face and bullshit attacks yada yada yada got Touhou 7.5 and now I play online as Suika something something something got PC-98 Touhou and liked it more than Windows era games got Seihou and liked it more than all of the Touhou games (Except 3 and 4) killed off my grammar for this entire sentence blabber blabber blabber AND THAT... Is how got into Touhou.
