I like Kancolle
Not as much as Touhou, but I like it. This is all apart of human nature, which is why, Idolmaster and Love Live get more art than Vocaloid, same thing with any other company
Kancolle and Touhou are the same thing. It's just human nature.

And people are overreacting.
Seriously, KanColle is a fad. Everyone is jumping into the bandwagon now but they'll soon forget about it.
Touhou has a really well established fandom, it's the only series ever to have all those music mixes and fangames and whatnots.
There is no way KanColle will outlive Touhou, for more than one reason. As soon as ULiL is released, people will return.
Though yeah, KanColle tries to be a rip-off and I still find the whole "girls with the SOULS of WAR SHIPS" deal stupid.

I think that once the next main Touhou game shows up, then the fans will come back. Hopefully.
Besides, like, ULiL is probably going to help too since it'll be an rebalance of HM with more characters. so yeah.

Angel and I's discussion of various reasons as to why Touhou is cemented with a ungodly legacy of quality and quantity earlier lead to this quote by me: "Couldn't have said it better myself, especially considering, if I remember correctly, KanColle is a browser game ran off my currency, and when popularity drops, the company will most likely abandon the project henceforth that happening." Remembering this crucial point is vital when discussing this topic, and when we compare quality and quantity, remember we'll just end Red Queen's Effect, where all we will be doing is demonstrating something of quality from one side and comparing it to another and, when deciding the superior piece, just continue doing it. I don't believe we'll be surrendering our achievement and successfulness within the near future, it's primarily the existence of other, dedicated fanbases whom can compete on some level with us.

One objection I will make about myself and ZM's proposal of reused characters in the fighting games, is that the fighting games give an extreme boost to character popularity and provide a more in-depth view of characters normally absent from playable roles, Koishi is a primary example of this situation.

I liked KOishi before it was cool to like her
People can, like, see how awesome HM and the newly inducted player characters are so then they'll be like "hey that seems like a good character to draw totally" and then one thing will lead to another. Maybe.
