Prologue: 23,000 Years Ago
A Sagittarius Menschilche sat in a pod, the scientists around him were reading their computers and the readouts of this volunteer. They were trying one of the first Super Soldier projects, a serum that would be transferable through the mixing of blood. This was supposed to grant enhanced speed, strength, endurance and night vision to the person, while granting them regenerative qualities. The readings were good and the Menshilche remained inside the pod, however his skin started to become a little flushed, this wasn't expected, but his life readings remained normal as he remained unconscious. The scientist in charge watched this process carefully over the next couple of hours.
Suddenly the Menschilche was awoken, he had red eyes, when his eyes used to be blue. He looked around, the room wasn't any brighter to him, but he became annoyed that he was still bound. He looked at his bindings and started struggling against them, he broke them rather quickly. He was extremely hungry and one of the scientists walked over to him, "You haven't eaten since last night, let me get you something to eat." The Menschilche nodded and waited til the scientist returned and he ate the food he was brought. The scientists were pleased at the results of this super soldier project, it pretty much being a success and they would be able to defeat the Dragons who had entered their galaxy.
One of the scientists decided to use a knife to cut into the Menschilche, and the Menschilche bit down upon the neck of the scientist, puncturing into the jugular vein and he started drinking the blood, regenerating the flesh around the wound, while draining the poor scientist dry. The scientist in charge sighed, "Dammit, seriously. Well we're going to have to live with this. The Dragons are destroying us in this war." The head scientist walked out to the war room where a holographic image of Menschilche space was shown, the dragons, shown in gray were moving into their territory. The Menschilche were losing this war, and the scientist regrets that their military had fired the first shot.
One of the generals looked at him, "How was the project." The scientist sighed, "There were a few complications, they can only regenerate if they drain the blood from a victim." The general nodded, "I want thousands of these new Vampire Super Soldiers. We need to take the fight to the dragons before they overwhelm us." The scientist nodded, "I understand, sir." The scientist walked back to his lab, and saw that no one else had been drained, which was a very fortunate fact for him, "Look, we're going to have to have thousands of these new super soldiers. Project Vampire is a go." The scientists started to get to work on this as the lead scientist smiled as his work went without a hitch.
A few months later, the new super soldiers were thrown against the Dragons and had an 85% loss rate, while taking down only one dragon. The scientist was upset as he failed in creating a new super soldier project. He also noticed that the super soldiers had become very nocturnal, instead of diurnal like the rest of the Menschilche. This was an extreme disappointment in addition to the failure for them to preform as expected. The scientist sighed and pulled out a gun, he felt absolutely horrible for this and for bringing these creatures into the world. He put the barrel of the pistol into his mouth and sighed, he pulled the trigger and ended his life in very quick order.

Chapter 1
One Week Prior to Present Day
An adult Menschilche looked over the dead body of a female Mus, he had seen wounds on the neck like this before. He also knew from the lack of any blood on the wounds that the body had been drained dry. He had seen too much of this as of late, he knew that the creature he was dealing with was a vampire, but he had no idea of how to track it or where to find it. He wished he was like his father, so that he could pick up the smell and track this creature. He grabbed his polearm and looked around at the police that were arriving, "Hello, Officer." The cop looked at him, "Guards in training aren't supposed to be at crime scenes, leave before I report you to your superiors."
The Menschilche nodded, and left the crime scene without a word. He was very worried about what was going on, these murders had been happening for the past week and there was no end in sight. As he walked down the street, he looked down at the ground with his hand on his chin, he was trying to figure out how to find this creature and how to stop it. His research had found little to nothing about the type of creature he was dealing with or the means to stop it. Only the identity of the creature and the type of wounds, as well as myths surrounding it. He walked into a bar and sat down, "One beer please." The bartender nodded, "I'll have to see some ID, please." The Menschilche nodded and showed his ID, the Bartender sighed, "I'm going to have to cross reference this with my database, you're a Menschilche, right?"
The Menschilche nodded without hesitation, "Go ahead." The bartender took the ID into a room and after a couple of moments, he came out and handed it back as the manager walked over to him, "Sorry Sven, bar policy." Sven nodded, "Not yet old enough to legally drink?" The manager laughed, "Nah, forty-two is the legal drinking age for a Menschilche and you're forty-seven. Just we need to check ID of all people trying to drink." Sven nodded as the bartender poured him a beer, Sven started to sip it a bit, "Tell me, have you seen a creature that looks like a human?" The bartender shook his head, "I haven't seen one, is it related to the string of murders of men and women with the two puncture wounds in their jugular veins?" Sven nodded, "Yes, and the proper medical term is carotid artery." The Bartender sighed, "Same thing."
The manager shook his head, "I've not seen anything like that, but you might be able to get information from one of the patrons here. By the way, guards drink free, within reason of course." Sven nodded slightly and took his beer over to a table where a female Mus was sitting, "Excuse me, may I ask you a couple of questions?" The Mus looked up at him, "Go ahead." Sven sighed, he didn't think it was going to be that easy, "Have you any information about the string of murders that has been going on in this city?" The Mus shook her head, "Nothing that the news hasn't shown." Sven nodded, "Thank you for your time, ma'am." Sven looked around and saw a man sitting in a corner, with his hat down. He walked over to the man, "Excuse me, may I..." Sven noticed that the man wasn't breathing, so he used his polearm to poke the male Mus.
The Mus fell over dead, but as Sven went to go check his neck, he noticed the wounding on the neck was the same as the female, but this body was still slightly warm, meaning the killer hadn't gotten far away. Sven placed his beer on the table and ran into the kitchen and then out the back door. He didn't care how many rules of the establishment he had broken, he was going to catch the son of a bitch who had been murdering people in his hometown. He ran as fast as he could, following every alley way that he could, until eventually he ran upon an abandoned house. He walked carefully towards it, his polearm at the ready. He noticed that the window was broken, and he couldn't shake the feeling that he was going to end up walking into a trap.
He decided to use the same window that was broken to enter, so as to make as little noise as possible. He silently walked through the halls of the house, taking up positions on each corner and looking into each room carefully. He felt like he was being followed, but every time he turned, he couldn't see anything. When he found nothing on the first floor, he decided to check the second floor. He repeated the same thing he did with the first floor and found nothing. Except his feeling of unease grew even more. He felt extremely uncomfortable and couldn't shake the feeling that he had just walked into a trap. He started to make his way down the stairs, when he started to get a gut feeling that he should just escape.
Upon reaching the first floor, he tried to silently get to the window and climb out. Unfortunately something grabbed him in a hold and bit into his neck. Sven expected to be completely drained of blood and wind up dead like the rest of the victims, but the Vampire stopped, "Your blood smells like a human's. Well then." Sven felt something wet touch his wounds, and an incredible pain shot through his body. However, though he felt stronger, he was also losing consciousness due to the pain. The last thing Sven heard before he finally passed out was, "You're a Vampire just like me and soon you will have your first taste of the blood of these creatures! Enjoy your new life as a creature of the night!"

Chapter 2
Present Day
Yoshiro stood in front of his house with a cup of coffee in hand, he had noticed the police outside of his neighborhood and decided that he was going to take a look. Apparently some of his old guard had the same idea, as they followed suit. When he arrived, he noticed that the highest ranking police officer there was oddly a Lieutenant, Yoshiro found that to be a bit curious, but he paid it no mind. He looked at the officers on duty, "Let me through." The Lieutenant looked at him, "You might be the friend of our queen, but you have no authorization to be here at this crime scene!" Yoshiro arched a brow, "I'm a royal guard, and the last I checked, Lieutenant, that means I outrank you. So either you let me in on this investigation, or I have you thrown in the castle's dungeon for a bit."
The Lieutenant grumbled as Yoshiro walked towards the body and knelt beside it, he was picking up the scents of the victim and her killer, but wasn't able to separate the two, "Lieutenant, relax. If we continue bickering, we're going to let this guy stay loose for longer and more people are going to die." He continued sniffing the air, trying to get a better idea of the scent of the killer, but unfortunately he wasn't able to separate the two scents. Standing up, he looked at the officers, "Do you have anything from this crime scene that didn't belong to the victim?" One of the officers nodded and held up a piece of cloth in a bag, "I found this in the victim's hand clutched tightly." Yoshiro nodded slightly, "Can I smell it?"
The officer looked at him, "Excuse me, sir?" Yoshiro tapped his nose, "You must be fresh from the academy, I'm a Kitsune and my friend over there? She's a Lupine. If the two of us smell it and pick up the killer's scent, we can track down the killer." The officer nodded, "Alright then, but don't try any funny stuff." He handed the bag to Yoshiro who opened it and sniffed the contents of the bag, the scent was familiar, but there was something wrong, this didn't smell like anyone he knew from Verbana. He walked over to the female Lupine, "Erna, what do you make of this." He handed it to her and she sniffed the contents of the bag. Her tail started lashing as she looked up at him, "Yoshiro, we're not dealing with multiple killers... this is the same exact scent as the person who killed one of my friends."
Yoshiro nodded, "The killer's not from this planet, his scent doesn't..." Something clicked in his mind as the scent started to become familiar, he couldn't exactly place it, but he was outraged, "Lieutenant. I'm going to need to ask for the cooperation of the police force." The Lieutenant sighed, "Now you're asking too much." Yoshiro walked over to him and handed the Mus the bag, "Listen here, this is one person. One fucking person has been making you and your entire police force look like blithering idiots! According to Seija, her guess is that since the attacks stopped in Kani territory and they moved to Mus territory, this is the same assailant. If one person can do this, imagine what they could do if only you and your current cops come waltzing in!"
The Lieutenant frowned, "We're going to handle this on our own, Yoshiro. If you don't like it, then you'll have to take it up with my superior." Yoshiro pointed at the radio on his belt, "Call him up now." The Lieutenant sighed, "If it will make you happy." He took the radio off his belt and turned it on, "Chief, Yoshiro here wants to ask for the cooperation of the police force in the capturing of this murderer." The Chief's voice spoke up, "He's a Royal Guard, Lieutenant, you're going to have to do as he says." The Lieutenant sighed, "Dammit!" Yoshiro smirked and looked at the old guard that was with him, "Let's gear up." He turned towards the Lieutenant, "Give us forty-five minutes and we'll be ready to track this son of a bitch down." The Lieutenant grumbled as Yoshiro walked back to his house.
Upon entering the house, Lilah appeared from one of the shadows, "You're going to try to track down this murderer, aren't you?" Yoshiro nodded, "Of course." Lilah sighed, "Yoshiro, he's a human vampire." Yoshiro nodded, not really shocked that Lilah would know something like this, it being her job as his personal bodyguard and his personal spy, "You're coming with me, Lilah." Lilah nodded, "Of course, Yoshiro. You know Rogelio is going to come whether you like it or not." Yoshiro nodded as they reached the armory and he started to put on his armor, "I'd expect nothing less from him, though he really ought to start taking it easier, he's going to be over the hill in the next couple of weeks."
Lilah chuckled as an adult female Menschilche walked into the Armory, "Dad, are you going after the murderer?" Yoshiro nodded, "Galina, I want you to stay here with Elbereth. I have a feeling this son of a bitch is behind Sven's disappearance and possible death." Galina shook her head, "I still feel Sven's life force. He's alive, Father." Yoshiro nodded, "That's at least some good news. Still doesn't change my goal." Yoshiro started arm himself, he chose to take his shield, his long sword and a single pistol, "Find this bastard, and I'll at least find a clue as to where Sven happens to be. Don't worry, I'll find him." Galina nodded, "Stay safe, Father." Yoshiro walked over to her and gave her a hug, "I promise I'll return." Galina nodded as Yoshiro let go and walked out of the house with Lilah.

Chapter 3
Yoshiro walked through the streets of the city, followed by his old guard and the Mus Police Force. He sniffed the air, trying to follow the scent that he found on the cloth that belonged to the killer, while Erna was doing the same. Suddenly Erna pointed in a direction and started to lead them, the scent became stronger and stronger, eventually they reached an abandoned house. Yoshiro turned to look back, "Alright, this seems like the place, Erna, what do you think?" Erna nodded, "The scent is as strong as it's going to be." Yoshiro nodded, "I want two teams of cops in the building. Teams of Four. Rogelio, Lilah and Erna, you're on me." Yoshiro looked up at the building, "Adora, Bettino, Edgard, Dita, you go in as a team. The cops will take the first and second floors, Adora, your team will take the attic. My team will take the basement."
Yoshiro sighed slightly, "Stay together at all times and move as a group with eyes all around. We're dealing with an enemy that could ambush any one of us and pick us off one by one. Everyone else, form a perimeter. If it's not one of us and I don't authorize it to leave the building, I want it shot dead, understand?" They nodded an the Police Lieutenant looked at him, "You're ex-military, aren't you?" Yoshiro shook his head, "No, I was a king with an excellent military adviser. He taught me military tactics, which is why the Dracoknights looked and functioned like a military unit, rather than just a Royal Guard." The Lieutenant nodded and went to form his teams, once all four teams were formed, they entered the building and the teams started to split off from each other to go search their respective floor.
Yoshiro led his team to the basement door, which he was shocked to see open, he pointed down the stairs, "Lilah, you know what to do." Lilah nodded and started to blend in with the shadows as she walked down, as she did this, Yoshiro leaned into whisper to Rogelio, "I want you to remain on the stairwell, Erna will be at the bottom of the stairs with her weapon ready, got it." Rogelio nodded as the three of them walked down the stairs, Rogelio stopping in the middle, Erna stopping at the bottom and Yoshiro walking into the basement, "Come out, I know you're in here." Yoshiro pulled out his pistol as the closet door opened, he kept it trained on the occupant, who looked at him with red eyes, "Another fool comes into my lair. I guess I'll feed off of you."
Yoshiro didn't hesitate as the Vampire walked towards him, he kept the gun trained on him, "I would recommend that you stop moving, human." The Vampire took another step just to be defiant, "And why is that." Lilah slipped out of the shadows behind the Vampire and plunged her dagger in between his shoulders, at his spine, paralyzing him. Yoshiro smirked slightly, "Simple, because I set up a trap, and even if she missed. You have two gunmen with their weapons trained on you, if you made a hostile move, you'd have been dead to begin with." The vampire looked up at him as he fell to the ground, "So why have you come here, do you share the same reasoning as that fool that came here before?" Yoshiro picked up Sven's scent and became angry, he pointed the gun into the Vampire's face, "Where's Sven!?"
The Vampire laughed, "He's a vampire, just like me. He's in the other closet. By the way, my name is Christopher." Yoshiro didn't care anymore, he was so fueled by rage that his son had been harmed by this vampire that he shot Christopher in the head, "I'll be sure to put that on your grave." Yoshiro walked to the other closet and knocked on the door, "Sven, you in there?" Yoshiro moved to the side, expecting a vampire to jump out at him, but instead, the door opened and Sven crawled out weakly, "Father?" Yoshiro put his pistol away and picked up his son, "I'm here for you, son." He looked at the others, "Put your weapons away!" Sven looked up at him, "You're here to kill me, aren't you. Christopher told me that you'd try to kill me if you ever found me."
Yoshiro placed him against the wall, "You're malnourished, Sven. You haven't eaten in about a week, save your strength." Yoshiro looked at Lilah, "Toss me a dagger." Lilah took a dagger off her belt and tossed it to Yoshiro. Sven sighed, "I guess it's true. I want to live, Father. But if you think I should die, then well, you're wiser than I am." Yoshiro nodded, and took the dagger out of its sheath, he removed his right gauntlet and grabbed the blade tightly with his bare hand, "Open your mouth." Sven opened his mouth and Yoshiro pulled the dagger through his hand with a hiss, cutting it deeply. He then held his hand over Sven's mouth and let the blood flow into it, Sven tried to close his mouth, but Yoshiro sighed, "Sven, please. You need to feed, this will keep you alive."
Sven looked at him, "I don't understand, I'm... a vampire. I'm a monster." Yoshiro shook his head, "You are a Vampire, yes. But I can access the Serpentarius database and figure out what you are." Sven nodded, "What about me... being a monster." Yoshiro sighed, "Sven, you didn't kill anyone, you didn't drain them of your blood. This has been your first meal in a week, and your first meal of blood as a vampire. You're still the same Sven I adopted all those years ago, you're still my son. Just because some jackass decided to turn you into this against your will, doesn't mean that you change because of it. He became a monster, because he felt that he had power over people, that he could kill people and get away with it. However, you have a conscience, it won't let you kill innocent people."
Sven nodded as Yoshiro cleaned the dagger off and placed it back in its sheath before tossing it back to Lilah. He put his right gauntlet back on and picked up his son, "Come on, let's get out of here." He carried Sven up to the first floor and called out, "The vampire is dead and I found my son, let's get out of this damn place." Yoshiro then led his team out of the abandoned house, where he encountered the police force waiting for him, he walked over to the Lieutenant, "I'm going to take my son to the hospital, he's malnourished. The Vampire is dead, if you want to go retrieve his corpse, you may do so." The Lieutenant sighed, "Alright, but why did you kill him." Yoshiro stopped, "Hundreds of people died because of him, even paralyzed he was a threat." Yoshiro didn't want for a response as he carried his son up the road towards the hospital.

Chapter 4
Sven looked around as he sat up in his hospital bed, he was somewhat nervous as he could hear the doctors talk about him, about how his teeth had changed and eyes had changed color, they were nervous about him and he could tell. He didn't like it and wanted to get up and try to sneak out, however, the moment he tried to get up, he saw Lilah walk out of the shadows, "Don't try to escape, Sven." Sven sighed and lied back down on the bed, he was rather annoyed about this. A doctor walked in, "Sven, Yoshiro didn't give me a choice in this matter, but here's a blood bag." The doctor tossed the bag to Sven, who caught it much to his surprise.
Sven bit into the blood bag and started to drain it, it tasted somewhat like his father's blood, and when he looked at the name of the donor on the bag, he noticed it was his father's. He frowned slightly as Yoshiro was risking his life to save his, but he knew his father wouldn't allow him to die that easily. He looked out the window, he was in a low light hospital room so that the light wouldn't bother his eyes, he noticed how beautiful everything was, especially seeing it in the light for the first time in a week. Suddenly there was a knock on his door that startled him, he looked over and saw a female Sea Elf, who had long purple hair, "Hey, Mom." The sea elf walked in as Lilah looked at her, "Elbereth." Elbereth nodded, "Hi, Lilah."
Lilah moved away as Elbereth walked over to Sven and hugged him, "I've been so worried about you. Galina is here too, but she's with your father right now." Sven nodded, "What's Dad doing?" Elbereth frowned, "Your father is doing research. Also being as stubborn as usual, sweetheart." Sven nodded, "Dad, he donated some of his blood in order to feed me. I'm sure you already know what I am now." Sven looked away and Elbereth turned his head to look at her, "I know that you're a Vampire. But first and foremost, you're my son, and that's never going to change." Elbereth smiled and hugged tighter, Sven returning the hug. Sven smiled and felt a bit happy, but a second knock at the door startled him.
He couldn't look over his mother's shoulder as her fins were poking him slightly, but he heard Yoshiro's voice, it sounded a bit weakened, "Alright, Sven, I got good news, and I got bad news. The bad news is, all the original research notes were destroyed and I can't figure out much of anything about the origins of your condition other than it's a Sagittarius serum. The good news is, you won't end up like Christopher." Sven blinked, "But, I'm already a vampire!" Yoshiro stumbled into the room and fell into a chair, Elbereth frowning at him as she broke her hug, "See, Yoshiro, this is what you get when you're stubborn." Yoshiro chuckled, "I wanted my son to drink my blood. Anyhow... I think I'll let your sister tell you the rest of the good news."
Galina walked into the room carrying a datapad, "Sven, you're a Mark II Vampiric Super Soldier. This means that you don't have the problem with the aggression that the previous version had. Menschilche Vampires can eat the same foods as normal and only really need blood in case of a food shortage or they are lightly wounded. A heavy wound will have a speedy recovery and if you're mortally wounded, you could drain a person dry and not survive, so please try not to get mortally wounded. Anyhow, you're faster, stronger, tougher and your senses have sharpened. The original research was destroyed because the project was deemed a failure as the Vampires failed to kill a single dragon, even after a thousand attacked one."
Sven nodded slightly and looked at Yoshiro, "Dad, I want to learn how to use a weapon." Yoshiro sighed, "Not right now." Sven blinked, "Dad?" Yoshiro sighed, "Your internal clock is changing, you're going to be nocturnal, so while it is ideal for you to learn how to use a weapon, I can barely stand. How do you expect me to train you in my current condition, wait til my blood supply replenishes itself and I'll find you a trainer." Sven shook his head, "I want to learn Longsword and Shield, like you!" Yoshiro frowned, "Are you absolutely sure, most people learn how to use longswords with two hands before they try to use a shield." Sven nodded, "Yes." Yoshiro closed his eyes, "Let me recover and I'll take you to Kasimira, she made my sword and I'm sure she can make a training sword for you."
Sven nodded, "So the deity of the forge is going to make me a training weapon! Is it going to be as good as yours?" Yoshiro sighed, "That's not a good mindset, my son. A solidly built weapon is only as good as its wielder. In my hands, a longsword is a deadly and precise weapon, but that's because I've trained myself that way. In untrained hands, my longsword would be a sharpened bar of ilma metalli, nothing more, nothing less. It wouldn't be effective." Sven nodded slightly, "Alright, Dad, I'll try to be a good student for you." Yoshiro opened his eyes and looked over at him without moving his head, "Son, you realize I've never trained anyone how to use a sword before, right?" Sven blinked, "You haven't?" Yoshiro nodded, "That's correct." Sven looked up at the ceiling, it was going to be an interesting few months to be sure.

Chapter 5
A few days had passed, and both Yoshiro and Sven found themselves in Lupine Territory, specifically Bruno's kingdom. Sven didn't feel comfortable at this altitude as he wasn't quite used to it, Yoshiro however was seemingly comfortable. The two of them looked down at the city that was nestled in the mountains as they stood at the temple of a Lupine Deity, Yoshiro motioned towards the entrance, "Go in there and ask for Kasimira, not Mareike. Mareike is working on my sword currently, and I have to go retrieve it from her today." Sven nodded as the two of them walked in and separated from each other, Sven started to look for a Lupine that he could ask directions from.
Sven found a woman at a forge and frowned, "Excuse me, ma'am. I'm looking for Kasimira." The Lupine woman looked at him, "I'm Kasimira, you must be a friend of Killian." Sven stepped in, "Actually I'm his nephew, I'm Yoshiro's son." Kasimira nodded, "Yoshiro's probably gone to talk to my mother, anyhow... come in." Sven walked in nervously, "You know what I am and you have no issue with it?" Kasimira shook her head, "You're a Menschilche, other than that, I don't know anything about you really." Sven nodded and walked closer to the forge, his red eyes and fangs showing, "I'm a Vampire, ma'am." Kasimira nodded, "You still are you own person, now people usually come to me when they want a weapon." Sven nodded, "I want a long sword and shield like my father."
Kasimira sighed slightly, "I cannot do that for you, I'm sorry." Sven frowned, he expected this to be easy, "Why not?" Kasimira pointed at his body, "You have never swung a weapon in your life, let alone a sword. I cannot let you have a sharpened sword, because you may accidentally hurt yourself or someone else. As for the shield, I can make you a heater shield, it will take some time, if you still want a sword, you will have to accept that it will be not be sharpened." Sven nodded, "Alright, I can do that." Kasimira gathered the materials she needed and started to put the metals in the furnace, she wanted to make the sword first, and Sven watched this go on. He started to feel rather tired and as his lids grew heavy, he looked at Kasimira, "Do you mind if I take a nap here?" Kasimira shook her head and Sven closed his eyes completely, drifting off to dreamland.
Sven often dreamt about what he wanted to do, what he wanted to be and his hopes and his dreams, but this time he saw a mysterious kitsune in his dream emerging from a shuttle he had never seen before. He couldn't hear anything, but from what it looked like, the mysterious kitsune was angry at someone. When Sven looked over in his dream, he noticed that it was his father, he was absolutely confused about this. What did his father do to earn the disdain of this strange Kitsune who came from offworld. He didn't know anything about what was going on, but when he saw his father draw his sword, he became scared and woke up to find Kasimira shaking him awake, "You okay there? You were making a lot of noise. Yoshiro's probably on his way over here right this second too."
Sven nodded, "Yeah, I'm alright. I just had a dream about a mysterious kitsune." A voice that was unfamiliar to Sven spoke up, "Hey Grandmother." Kasimira nodded, "Hello, Sage." Sage looked at Sven, "Cousin, what is this unfamiliar Kitsune that you speak of." Sven closed his eyes and recalled, "He looked a lot like Uncle Takeshi, except with red hair and red fur and he had both eyes." Sage sighed, "I don't know who that is, I'm sorry cousin." Another voice spoke up, "I do, that's Hiroshi. But he's dead." Sven looked at the source of the voice, "Uncle Killian!" Sven went to go hug his uncle, but Killian shook his head, "Sorry, Sven, the hugs will have to wait." Killian looked at Kasimira, "Hey Mother." Kasimira's tail wagged, "This is the first time you've called me Mother, what's the occasion?"
Killian shrugged, "It's your birthday, figured I'd give you that as my present since I don't know what to get you." Kasimira sighed, "So long as you, Walthari and Imma are happy, I'm happy. Plus I'm glad to be working on a sword and shield for someone." Killian nodded, "Since Sven's here, I'm guessing Yoshiro is too?" Kasimira nodded, "He should still be with my mother." Sage nodded, "Dad, you can go see Uncle Yoshiro, I'll stay here with Grandmother and Sven." Sven smiled slightly, "Thanks, Sage. Hey, Kasimira, if Sage is my cousin and Killian is my uncle, what does that make you?" She sighed, "Young one, that makes us nothing. Killian is Yoshiro's brother by adoption by my friend Minako. Ranulf and I gave him and Walthari to them, not knowing which one was the berserker. It ended up being Walthari."
Killian nodded and left the room as Sven looked at the window, "Sage, it's getting harder to stay up during the day. Dad was right, my internal clock is shifting and I know this is going to be hard on whoever has to train me." Sage nodded, "To be fair, Sven. Life's not easy, it never has been, you just have to roll with the punches, you know." Sven sighed, "I know, cousin. Just the thought that I can't have kids without risking them being like me... it's... unsettling." Kasimira sighed, "It's why Walthari swore to never have kids, and partially why he ended up marrying a centauress." Sven nodded, feeling a little better, "Thanks, you two." Kasimira smiled, "Don't mention it, it'll take a while for your sword and shield to be ready still. Why don't you have a nap." Sven nodded and closed his eyes, drifting off to sleep once more.

Chapter 6
One Week Later
Sven stood in a training ground, he felt a little odd in his armor, but he didn't mind much. He held his sword a little off, causing his trainer to snap at him, "Sven! Hold your sword in a defensive stance!" Sven moved slightly as he looked at the Fennikkusu standing opposite of him. The man was wearing the armor of the Mus royal guard while carrying a heater shield and a replica of a Kani Paladin sword, Sven felt a bit nervous, "What do you wish me to do?" The Fennikkusu looked at him, "Parry." Sven blinked, "Wait, what?" The Fennikkusu moved in slowly, while keeping his shield up, he lowered the shield just out of the way of his line of attack as he brought his sword up to cut across the breastplate of Sven's armor.
Sven reacted too slowly and the dulled blade hit across the armor and Sven watched as his blade was stopped by the Fennikkusu turning his blade and hitting his edge with the flat. Sven reacted by pushing against his blade, but much to his shock the Fennikkusu seemed to give, but when he realized why, it was too late. As Sven was recovering, the Fennikkusu grabbed his sword by the blade and drove it into the gaps of his armor. Sven sighed, "I'm not fast enough, Father!" Yoshiro pulled his blade out from the gaps, "Fortunately this one is dull, or I'd have killed you. Never have I been so relieved to have a dull blade in my entire life." Sven frowned and took off his helmet, "I'll never be a swordmaster like you!" Yoshiro took his helmet off, "We're done."
Sven blinked, "Wait, what do you mean, Father?" Yoshiro started to walk away, his orange wings spread out from his armor, "I mean we're done, Sven. I will not train someone who thinks that they can master the sword, it's a waste of my time. I'm sorry, you're my son and I'll always love you, but you cannot be my student anymore." Yoshiro started to flap his wings and Sven walked towards him, "Father, where are you going?" Yoshiro turned towards him, he was visibly annoyed, "I'm going somewhere that I can cool down for a moment. Sorry Sven, you can't come with me." Sven watched as Yoshiro took to the skies and frowned, "What did I do to annoy him so badly?"
A female voice spoke up, "You said that he's a swordmaster, it's the surefire way to piss him off, Sven. You should know that, you're his son." Sven turned to see Freja standing there, she had her arms folded, "What is he then, your highness?" Freja leaned against a pillar, "He's a Kensei, it translates to Sword Saint. He's dedicated his life to learning and ever improving his swordplay, he cares not about mastery, because to him, that's an impossible goal. However, let me guess, you never asked him about this, have you?" Sven shook his head, "No. I haven't." Freja sighed and walked over to him, "Kiddo, you need to realize that Yoshiro isn't an easy person to make angry under normal circumstances. He loves you and will gladly share information with you if you'd just ask him. Now come on in, Celes has been asking about you since you got out of the hospital."
Sven nodded and followed Freja into the castle, they were quickly found by an adolescent Mus. Sven couldn't believe that she was actually five years his senior, and yet, he was the fully grown adult of the two. The Mus smiled, "Hi Sven, how was your training?" Sven frowned, "It was terrible, Celes. I've already driven away the one person that would be willing to train a Vampire like myself." Celes nodded, "I heard about that, the evil Vampire got to you and made you one, but from what I've heard, you're still a good guy." Sven nodded, "My father told me that just because I'm a creature of the night doesn't mean that I have to be a creature of darkness. I might work in the night, but I still serve the light."
Celes giggled, "That sounds a bit corny, Sven." He nodded slightly and sighed a bit, "It's a shame that Father is currently annoyed with me, do you think that I'll be able to apologize to him and he'll train me again." Freja shook her head, "Give it some time, Sven. You're going to have to prove to him that you aren't arrogant enough to believe that you can and will master the sword, also remember. He hasn't trained anyone before, he once told me that he cannot train new Wyvern Knights, he can only make them better. He's my oldest friend, Sven, I've known him longer than almost anyone else. The only exception is my parents and a couple of castle attendants." Sven nodded slightly, he knew of that part, he had been introduced to Freja at a young age.
Celes frowned, "Sven, you shouldn't be sad. Also you look a little tired." Sven nodded, his internal clock was starting to change and it was annoying him greatly. He was getting absolutely sick of it already, as all of his friends and family were diurnal, while he was becoming nocturnal. He sighed slightly though, trying to hide his annoyance from the two Mus royals, "You're right, I'm going to go take a nap." Freja smiled, "Use any of our guest rooms." Sven nodded and walked down a hallway, he entered a room and sighed. He took his armor off and fell into a bed, looking up at a ceiling, he wondered where his father had gone and if he had transformed back into a kitsune by now. Despite his mind constantly asking questions, Sven's eyes closed and he went to sleep.

Chapter 7
Two female Kitsune walked the streets of the Mus kingdom, night had fallen and they were finding it hard to see as the thunder rolled and the rain began. They were thankful that they were wearing cloaks, which they drew over their head so that they wouldn't get wet. Spring was a bit stormy around this area of the continent, but the younger of the two kitsune had gotten used to it during her time on this world. She found the house she was looking for and knocked on the door. She waited for a response and knocked on it again when one didn't come. When another response didn't happen, the elder of the two females spoke up, "Yoshiko, there isn't anyone home." Yoshiko shook her head, she knew from the scent that Elbereth was there.
Yoshiko pounded on the door and suddenly a knife was placed against her neck, "If you or your companion move in a way I don't want you to, you'll die, are we clear?" Yoshiko struggled not to gulp, she became afraid, "Yes, ma'am." The voice spoke up, "Wait, you sound familiar." Yoshiko felt her hood be taken from her head and the knife leave her neck, "Turn around." Yoshiko turned to see Lilah standing there wearing her own cloak, "Hi Lilah..." Lilah put her knife away, "I apologize, Yoshiko and Sumiko. If I had known it was you, I wouldn't have attacked like that." The elder of the two Kitsune shook her head, "I'm not Sumiko, I'm Hikari." Lilah nodded, "I heard about you, you're the first Verbanan transgender to have kids, correct?" Hikari frowned, even though she was transgendered, she didn't like being called that, she preferred to be called a woman.
Lilah sighed, "I apologize, I'm not good with conversation." Hikari sighed, "I noticed. Can you open this door for us?" Lilah shrugged, "It's been unlocked this entire time, Elbereth's in the bath and Galina is at the park." Yoshiko turned and opened the door with a sigh, she called in, "Elbereth, don't worry, it's me, Yoshiko!" Elbereth called out, "I'll be out there in just a second! You can sit down in the living room and watch a show or something if you want." Yoshiko nodded as she and Hikari walked into the house, hanging their cloaks up on the coat rack and sitting down on the couch in the living room. Hikari turned on the holoprojector and the two of them started to watch a Mofetian sitcom, it was a bit odd watching this sort of entertainment for Yoshiko, but she honestly didn't mind.
Soon, Elbereth walked out, her belly looking slightly bigger, "Hey there, guys. How have the two of you been, I've not seen Yoshiko since Yoshiro and I moved out here and Hikari, it's been about a hundred years since I've last seen you. How are your kids?" Hikari smiled softly, "They're alright, Elbereth. I'm a grandmother now." Elbereth smiled softly, "That's wonderful! Yoshiko, have you had any kids of your own?" Yoshiko shook her head, "Elbereth, I'm only one hundred and forty-five years old, I'm still a little young to have my own child." Elbereth nodded, "When you're ready, you'll have a child. Anyhow, what brings the two of you here?" Hikari closed her eyes and yawned, "Honestly, I wanted to see how one of my best friends was doing and Yoshiko wanted to tag along. I couldn't say no to her."
Yoshiko smiled slightly and held out her hand, a small warm flame forming, she didn't seem to struggle as much most people, "I've been learning from grandmother how to use this magical energy that I have much easier and control it. Don't worry, this fire won't spread to anything if I don't let it." Elbereth nodded, "Impressive. However, there's something I want to tell you both. Lilah and Galina already know, Lilah figured it out almost immediately." Yoshiko arched a brow, "What's that?" Hikari smiled slyly, "You're pregnant, aren't you?" Elbereth nodded slightly, "I don't know if it's going to be a boy or a girl. But it's already decided that this one is going to get an elvish name rather than a Kitsune name. I'm already two months pregnant." Hikari blinked slightly, "Say, Elbereth. What do you do, now that you're not a queen anymore?"
Elbereth smiled softly, "I'm a manager at the coffee shop down the road, I still lead something. It's honestly what I was born and raised to do. I wasn't really taught many other different skills. Which is why I always taught my kids to be royalty, while my husband taught them other skills that they would need. He's even taught me how to defend myself." Hikari chuckled slightly as Elbereth sat down, "What's it like having to put up with Lilah." Elbereth laughed a bit, "Oh, she's not so bad when you get to know her. She's just really protective of us, because she sees us as her family, her kids visit from time to time, you know. They call me Auntie Elbereth, which is rather heartwarming." Before Yoshiko could say anything, the sound of the front door slamming was heard.
Yoshiko stood up and started to form a flame in her right hand, as Hikari drew her sword. However, they watched as Yoshiro who was in his Kitsune form once more stormed towards the stairwell, he moved back slightly and spoke in as calm a voice as he could muster, "Hey Yoshiko, hey Hikari. You can stay here, the night. We'll provide the guest rooms for you." Yoshiro went back to storming up the stairwell and Yoshiko looked at Hikari, "Do you think someone's in trouble?" Hikari shook her head, "If someone he cared about was in danger and he needed a weapon, he'd look just as pissed, but would be rushing up the stairs. Someone royally pissed him off and I don't want to know who." Yoshiko frowned as she walked to the stairwell, wondering if she should go up.

Chapter 8
Sven woke up in the middle of the night, he couldn't sleep very well, so he decided to try to sneak out of the castle. He was surprised that no one tried to stop him from leaving on his own, but he was happy of this fact, he didn't want to cause any trouble. He wanted to find his father and try to apologize to him, as the rain fell around him, though it soaked his hair and clothing, he didn't care. He only cared about reaching where his home was and entering it. As he walked through the streets though, he heard a loud scream and decided to investigate it. He saw a woman getting mugged by a man in an alleyway, an anger rose up inside of him and he rushed the mugger, who turned around and decked him in the face.
Sven became far more angry and bared his fangs, the mugger fled because of some reason, which Sven didn't realize until he turned around to see Bruno standing there. Sven frowned and crossed his arms, "I could've taken him!" Bruno grabbed him by the shirt and lifted him off the ground with one hand, "If you ever harm an innocent woman again, I will crush your skull like a grape! Are we perfectly clear!?" Sven panicked, "Bruno! It's me! Sven!" Bruno threw him to the ground, "I don't give a shit who you are. I can explain to your father why you're dead." The woman looked at Bruno and gulped, "Um... S-sir?" Bruno looked at her, "Yes, ma'am?" The woman frowned, "Actually, this one was trying to help me, he attacked my attacker. If it wasn't for him, I'd be dead right now."
Bruno went to go pick Sven up, "I'm terribly sorry about that." Sven looked at Bruno and attempted to push Bruno's hand away, "Leave me alone, Bruno." Bruno sighed, "Alright then, if that's what you want. I'm here to see the queen soon though, so our paths will likely cross again." Sven stood up and started to walk away, "Whatever..." He was pissed as he walked out of the alley and onto the sidewalk, lightning flashed across the sky and he frowned as the crack of thunder happened almost immediately. A storm was on top of the Mus Capitol city and Sven was quite upset about that, it seemed like his night had gotten even worse. He decided to take a detour and walk into the park. He walked up to a statue without a care in the world, and saw that another woman wearing a cloak was standing there, "Hi."
The woman looked at him, "You're soaking wet! This won't do! Come on, let's get you to my place!" Sven sighed, "I don't care anymore, I don't even think I can get sick." The female Mus grabbed him by the arm, "Nonsense. Now come on!" Sven sighed and followed the woman back to her place. It wasn't a large house, but it was cozy and warm, a drastic change from what it was like in the rain. The female Mus had Sven change into dry clothing and had him sit in front of a fireplace, "I heard about what happened to you, Sven." Sven nodded, "Really now, what do you know about me?" The female Mus spoke up, "I'm a friend of Celes, she really does care about you and yes, I do know that you're a Vampire. It doesn't really bother me any, so you don't need to worry about anything."
Sven nodded and looked out the window, "If you know my name, it's customary to give me yours." The female mus nodded, "I'm Julita." Sven frowned, "You lied to me, you're one of my father's guard!" Julita shook her head, "I didn't lie to you, Sven, I merely withheld information. I was tasked with protecting you in times like this, kiddo." Sven frowned, "How many?" Julita sighed, "About six of the old guard are dedicated to protecting you and ensuring that you're not going to become like that other Vampire was. Erna is one of these." Sven nodded, "I guess I'm stuck here til this storm blows over." Julita looked out the window, "Yes, and before you think of escaping, Erna is indeed here right now and she's not a heavy sleeper."
Sven sighed, "So why do you and Erna live away from Father?" Julita shrugged, "We just like it over here, it's not too far to be away from him, Sven. Are you hungry?" Sven nodded an Julita walked to the kitchen, to return with a rare steak, "Sorry, it's all I have right now, I was going to go grocery shopping." Sven took it and started eating, "It's alright." He didn't too particularly care, food was food and this was a good bit of steak. Sven sighed, "So, are you going to go to bed at any time soon?" Julita shook her head, "I've got night watch, which is why I was out there near the statue, Sven. But since I'm here taking care of you, I can't really do my job, so I'm going to be here if you need me." Sven sighed, he didn't like the sound of that, and he sat down to wait for the storm to end.

Chapter 9
Mamoru walked through the forests after dawn, he liked to be alone, but this time he had brought his cousin, Akira with him. Akira sighed, "Cousin, I have no idea why you decided it'd be a good idea to bring me along on this trip, but at least we're talking again." Mamoru nodded, "How's Minako?" Akira blinked, confused, "Why are you asking about my wife?" Mamoru stopped and sighed, causing Akira to turn to face him, "Well, Mamoru?" Mamoru looked at him, "It's hard to get over her, you know. I loved her very much." Akira nodded, "So long as you're not here to kill me, I don't care." Mamoru nodded and pointed towards the trail, "Shall we continue?" Akira nodded, "Let's."
The two of them continued walking down the trail for a bit, but something caught Mamoru's attention. It was a Menschilche vessel in a clearing, he couldn't see anything clearly at the moment, but he tapped Akira on the shoulder, "Cousin, there's a shuttle up there. Want to check it out?" Akira shook his head, "I want to avoid trouble." Mamoru nodded slightly, "I'm going to go check it out, alright?" Akira nodded as Mamoru rushed ahead to check out the shuttle, as he got closer, he noticed that it was Menschilche in origin, and was a Sagittarius build of shuttle. He noticed footsteps leading away from the vessel, which didn't bother him all that much, but the thing that did was as he got close enough to pick up the scent on the vessel, he noticed that it had the scent of his son's clone.
Mamoru pulled out his radio and turned it on, setting it to Yoshiro's frequency, he hoped Yoshiro would be within range, "Yoshiro, come in." Yoshiro's voice crackled to life over the radio, "What is it, Mamoru? Kind of dealing with my own problems here. My son is trying to apologize vehemently and it's honestly starting to piss me off. Whatever you have it better be good." Mamoru sighed, "There's a Sagittarius vessel within Mus territory." Yoshiro's voice sounded over the radio, "Well, I'll bring a few of the old guard over. I'm also going to be bringing weapons, whatever you do, do not touch anything until I get there. Are we perfectly clear?" Mamoru frowned, "Of course, Yoshiro. Mamoru out." Mamoru lowered the Radio and sat there waiting for Akira.
It took half an hour for the Wyvern Riders of the Old Guard to arrive, along with Julius and Yoshiro. It was only then, that Akira moved in and looked around, "Hey, son." Yoshiro nodded, "Hi, Father." Yoshiro looked at the Vessel and sniffed it, "It's not rigged with any explosives, so it's not a trap. However came here wants to get off of it. Mamoru?" Mamoru nodded, "Yeah?" Yoshiro looked at him, "I need you to enter this shuttle with me. Julius, if there are any Menschilche other than Sven around here... bite them in half." Julius nodded and Sven started to speak, but Yoshiro snapped at him, "Sven, you don't even have any qualifications! The only reason you're here is because I wanted you to see how things worked in a guard unit!" Mamoru sighed, "What'd he do to piss you off?" Yoshiro walked towards the door of the shuttle, "I'll tell you in a minute. Come on."
Mamoru nodded and followed Yoshiro into it, technology had advanced since he left the Menschilche. He looked around and noticed something didn't smell right, so he walked over to a compartment and opened it to find a strange looking device, "Yoshiro, what's this?" Yoshiro walked over to it, "I honestly haven't a clue. Can you start up the ship and run a diagnostics scan of it?" Mamoru nodded, "I just need to enter the cockpit." Yoshiro led the way into the cockpit and the two of them sat down in the seats, as Mamoru worked to start the ship, he spoke up, "So are you going to tell me what Sven did?" Yoshiro sighed, "He called me a swordmaster, that might not sound like much, but to a Kensei like myself, that's a grave insult. By the way, what's that smell?"
Mamoru sighed, "Twelve Pieces Menschilche and Hiroshi's clone." Yoshiro sighed, he had forgotten about Hiroshi's clone, but he knew the reputation that the Pieces Menschilche had, this made him worried, "We should start trying to track them down, Mamoru." Mamoru nodded and the shuttle started up, with a slight hum, he started to go to work on the computer and very soon started the diagnostic. All systems were working fine, except there was an illegal addition to this shuttle, which Yoshiro pointed out in a hurry, "Cloaking devices were banned by the Treaty of Kritha, which the Verbanans and Eltiranans had to sign upon becoming an intragalactic species. Shit! What have you told him about me!?" Mamoru looked at him, "I told him what I used to think about you, Yoshiro."
Yoshiro slammed his fists on the console and stood up angrily, "Son of a bitch! I need to get back to my wife and daughter. They won't dare attack the Kilvish kingdom, too many dragons and wyverns." Yoshiro walked out of the shuttle and pointed at Akira, "Father, I need you to go to the Kitsune Kingdom, one of my old guard will take you." Akira blinked, "Why?" Yoshiro sighed, "Mom or Reiko might be in danger." Akira nodded as Yoshiro climbed on Julius' back, "Mamoru, you come with me, climb on." Mamoru nodded and exited the shuttle so he could climb on the dragon's back. Much to his surprise, he found it easy to hold on, even when Julius took off. He felt extremely guilty about what was going on and could only hope that he could find a peaceful solution to all of this.

Chapter 10
Hiroshi's clone looked at the garden outside of the Kitsune capitol city, he had chosen to come here to abduct someone to hold as a hostage. He saw his target, an adult female Kitsune wearing a maid's outfit, she was walking through the garden with a sigh and she looked up at the sky with a sigh. He smiled cruelly and pointed in the direction of the woman, the Menschilche moving in to surround her. The woman gasped slightly as she looked at them and Hiroshi's clone walked in calmly, using his psionics to grab his gun and move it to his hand with a bit of effort and struggle. He pointed the gun at the woman, "You are Minako Miyamae, correct?" The woman nodded, "What do you want!?" Hiroshi's clone smirked, "I'm going to hold you hostage to get what I want, you can either come with me quietly, or we can cut out your tongue and we can do it that way."
Minako sighed, "Hiroshi, you would do this to your own mother?" Hiroshi's clone growled, "Come, we're going to go to a ghost town within this territory." Minako followed the group, lacking any sort of choice in the matter, "May I ask questions?" Hiroshi's clone sighed, "If you must, Minako." She frowned, "You're my son, why aren't you calling me mother?" Hiroshi's clone balled his hand in a fist, "I'm not your son, I'm a clone of him. Your son is dead, killed by that monster, Yoshiro!" Minako blinked, "This is what this is about!? Yoshiro killed Hiroshi because he had no choice, he held his little brother hostage, like you're doing with me..." Hiroshi's clone sighed slightly, "Enough with that rhetoric, Minako. I'm not going to deal with this the entire time, understood?"
Minako sighed and they continued towards the city, once they were there, Hiroshi's clone pointed to a small building, "I'm going to be in there. I want explosives on the ceiling of the floor with the best vantage point of this building within the neighboring buildings. If Yoshiro is going to be a coward and snipe me, I want to know that he's going to die anyhow." The Menschilche nodded and split from him, Hiroshi's clone pointed at Minako, "As for you, we're going to communicate with your son. Understood?" Minako nodded, "Fine." Hiroshi's clone dragged her into the abandoned building and pulled out a radio, "You tell him that I abducted you and that I want him to come alone, otherwise, I'm going to kill you, is that understood."
Minako nodded, she was on the verge of tears, this hurt her deeply, she turned on the radio and turned it to Yoshiro's frequency, "Yoshiro, sweetie?" Yoshiro's voice crackled to life, "Mom, you're in danger, don't leave the Capitol!" Minako sobbed slightly, "It's too late for that, Yoshiro. Hiroshi's clone abducted me and he wants you to come alone. He told me to tell you this or he's going to kill me." Hiroshi's clone pulled the radio from her, "Bring all the people you want, it's not going to make a difference anyhow." Yoshiro's voice sounded cold, "You let her go now, or I swear to all that you find holy and sacred, I'm going to kill you slowly." Hiroshi's clone smiled, "Very well, I look forward to you trying that, Yoshiro." Hiroshi's clone laughed a bit, and shut down the radio.
Minako looked at him, "Why are you doing this?" Hiroshi's clone sighed, "I have no intention to hurt you. But Yoshiro deserves to die for what he's done, all of that blood on his hands, including the blood of the original Hiroshi. He's caused so much pain and suffering." Minako sighed, "He never enjoyed killing anyone, he hates it. He always has and always will." Hiroshi's clone got angry, "Liar! He hunted people down and murdered them like beasts!" Minako noticed that things were flying into the air with the clone's outburst, which suggested that he was suffering from a form of Psionic Psychosis, this made her a bit afraid, but she spoke up anyhow, "I know Yoshiro, he's my son, Hiroshi. Like you are, even if you aren't the original, even if you are only his clone."
Hiroshi's clone sighed, "It's useless talking to you, Minako. I know Yoshiro's not going to come here alone, I know he's going to bring his dracoknights. I don't expect to win the battle by surviving it, but I do expect to win by killing him." A Pieces Menschilche approached him, "All of the ceilings that you requested to be rigged to blow are rigged to blow, Lord Hiroshi." Hiroshi's clone nodded slightly, "Good. Now, the original Hiroshi and my father will be avenged." Minako blinked, she was confused as Mamoru was alive, she saw him just yesterday, but when she opened her mouth, Hiroshi's clone walked out with the Menschilche. Minako was left alone in the room, she frowned slightly as her son was walking into a trap and she knew that she couldn't warn her son about this.

Chapter 11
Yoshiro was absolutely livid when he got the news, he immediately went to his personal armory and grabbed his sniper rifle as well as his biker gear. He pulled his biker gear over his normal clothing and grabbed his helmet, tossing one to Lilah, "Here. The people down at the castle are going to send satellite images to the Wyvern stables. You're coming with me until I get to the stables." Mamoru spoke up, "What about me?" Yoshiro sighed, "Only two people can ride on a bike at any one time, but you're the best shot we have at getting a peaceful resolution, I'll have Erna return and pick you up on her Wyvern." Sven's voice spoke up, "And me, Father?" Yoshiro turned and looked at Sven, "You're not qualified for this. Stay home and protect your mother and sister, understand me."
Sven was mad, but Yoshiro didn't give him a chance to protest, he walked out of the house and over to the garage where his motorcycle was at. He took a moment to appreciate the design of the beautiful motorcycle and then climbed on to it and starting it up with a DNA scan. The bike growled to life and Lilah got on back with her helmet on and wrapped her arms around Yoshiro's waist. Yoshiro kicked the accelerator and the bike sped off, he loved the feeling of speed, but knew that traffic wasn't going to let him get to his destination in time, so he activated his siren. The vehicles on the road moved out of his way as he sped through, weaving in and out of lanes in order to keep going as fast as possible, he had only one goal in mind, to save his mother's life.
After about five minutes, they arrived at the stables outside of the city for Wyverns, Julius having his own unique place to sleep. Yoshiro hit the brakes and slowed down until he could safely bring the motorcycle to a halt, Yoshiro kicking the kickstand down and allowing Lilah off the bike before he got off himself, "Lilah, we'll wait for the rest of the old guard, they should already know something's off by the fact that I screamed out of the neighborhood on that. Yoshiro turned to see some of the old guard were already arriving, Rogelio included, Yoshiro smiled at this, "We'll wait for the others before I brief you on what's going on here." A few minutes passed and the others arrived, Yoshiro nodding and leading them into the briefing room where a 3D image of the city in question was being projected.
Yoshiro pointed towards a particular building in the center, the only one yet to be touched by nature, "This is where Hiroshi's clone is." He pointed towards the figures around the city, "These are Pieces Menschilche, I'd rather they be kept alive so we can figure out what they're doing here so we can potentially avoid war. But I feel like no one's going to remotely even care if they're killed. The old guard is going to fly cover, and annoy these guys, potentially even capturing or killing them. I'm going to land on this building here." He pointed to a building with an excellent view of the building in the center of the city where Hiroshi's clone was, "I'm going to set up a sniper position, and if our negotiator can't calm the situation down, I'm going to take the shot and kill the clone."
Lilah looked at him, "What about me?" Yoshiro frowned, "There's a chance that I might not be able to take the shot... I feel immense guilt as it is already, in addition to my extreme anger. If I cannot take that shot, you will have to kill him yourself. That's why I want you to infiltrate the building, take out any Menschilche in your way and position yourself to kill the clone." Lilah nodded, but Yoshiko's voice spoke up, "I would like to help." Yoshiro turned to see Yoshiko and placed his hand on his chin, "A mage could be helpful. Alright, Dita, you take Yoshiko up with you. Yoshiko, I want you to stay in the air, no matter what happens, alright?" Yoshiko nodded, "Alright, Yoshiro." Yoshiro sighed, "Before we can head out, we're going to need to get our negotiator. Rogelio, you and Minerva go back to my home and retrieve Mamoru."
Rogelio nodded, "Aye, Lord Yoshiro." Yoshiro sighed, "Bettino?" The fairy looked at him, "Sir?" Yoshiro pointed at Lilah, "You'll be dropping her off near the building that Hiroshi's clone is at." Bettino nodded, "Sir." Yoshiro closed his eyes, "Dismissed! We'll leave when Rogelio returns." Yoshiro opened his eyes and walked out of the room and over to Julius, as he climbed on Julius' back, the Dragon turned his head to look at him, "Svabol ui lemebir wux, Yoshiro?" Yoshiro looked away, "Julius, before I met you, I had killed my older half-brother. Now it's looking to shape up for me to do the same thing again, except this time with his clone." Julius nodded, "Ehis ui seilor persvek ternesj, wer papref ui agantal thirkuir, nomagqe wux geou ti tepoha ekess svent Hiroshi nomeno tairais."
Yoshiro nodded, "I hope you're right, let's take to the air and wait for Minerva there." Yoshiro wanted to believe that Julius was right and that the future would change to allow him to avoid killing Hiroshi's clone, but for some reason, he had a horrid feeling in his gut that wouldn't go away. After reaching a proper altitude, Julius sighed, "Wux re tarvinixa, svabol ui xuut?" Yoshiro closed his eyes, "I just have a terrible feeling that something's going to go wrong, I don't know what yet, and I don't know why. Maybe I'm just being paranoid." Julius nodded as Minerva rejoined them, both Mamoru and Sven on her back. Yoshiro facepalmed at this, but he was too agitated to care at this point, he pointed forward, "Old Guard! Let's move out and go save my mother!" The old guard started their flight towards the abandoned city as Yoshiro's gut feeling became stronger.

Chapter 12
The abandoned city that was mentioned in the briefing was on the horizon and Yoshiro never felt more nervous in his life. He looked back to the rest of the Old Guard, "You all remember your roles?" They all replied, "Aye, sir!" Yoshiro nodded and looked forward, trying to hide the impending sense of doom in his gut, he let go of the reins with one hand pointed forward, "Let's move in!" Yoshiro and Julius took point as they entered the edge of the city, all of them slowing down a bit to search around, so that they could find where the enemy forces were, and to allow them an easier time of maneuvering between the buildings.
Yoshiro looked around at the multiple buildings around the city, but his radio crackled to life, "Yoshiro! Come in!" Yoshiro grabbed his radio and spoke into it, "Yoshiro here!" The radio spoke up, "The Kitsune Royal Guard are moving in to assist you and your guard, we figured out that it was Minako that was abducted. Your father will be joining your side on her pegasus." Yoshiro nodded, "Alright, I could always use a spotter." Yoshiro patted Julius on the head, "Hold up, let my father catch up for a moment." Julius nodded and started to hover about until Akira caught up with them, "Hey son, I've not fought with you before. Where are we going to be stationed?" Yoshiro pointed towards the center of the city, "On one of the buildings near there."
Akira nodded and their two mounts flew towards the center of the city, surprisingly, no fire erupted from the city to greet them, this only made Yoshiro far more nervous, "Father, I'll jump down first, I can't smell anything, but something feels extremely wrong about this situation." Akira shook his head, "Let me do this, son. A father should be willing to sacrifice their life to save the lives of their children, you are no exception." Yoshiro slid off Julius and landed on the roof of the building, it was a bit unstable and made him even more nervous, "What do you think I'm doing? Sven's here and I want to protect him at all costs." Akira nodded and sighed, but just before he moved his Pegasus, he caught a scent that made him realized that he and Yoshiro were literally in a trap right now.
Yoshiro picked up the scent of an explosive device, his eyes scanned the rooftop that he was on, but couldn't find anything. Yoshiro laughed a bit, "A perfect trap, son of a bitch. I walked into the perfect trap, unless this thing is supposed to be detonated by me walking on top of it. I never thought this would happen to me." Akira looked at him, "Can you move?" Yoshiro shook his head, "I can't get close enough to the device to determine it's location and the time of day probably hides it from being seen from the windows right now." Akira nodded, "I'll check anyhow, let's see if I can find it or not." Akira moved his pegasus away and down and pulled out his binoculars to look through the windows, "I can't see anything, my son. I'm sorry." Yoshiro frowned, "I guess I was a little over confident. I can't move, and I can't be extracted, anything sufficiently big enough will run the risk of setting off the device."
Yoshiro took out his radio and pushed it to the frequency of the Mus Royal Guard, which included his old guard, "This is probably my last transmission, my last words to you all. I've landed on a rooftop in an abandoned city within the Kitsune Kingdom, and I can smell an explosive device, which if I were to have set up this trap, would be a proximity fuse on the ceiling of the floor just below my feet. It's the perfect trap for a sniper and I can't risk moving or being extracted, the only thing I know is exactly where I'm standing is safe. My only chance to know where it is, is to move my sniper rifle around, try to see if the surrounding area around me is safe until I can get off the building. Tell my wife and my children that I love you, and Sven, I know you're listening..."
Sven's voice crackled over the radio, "Father..." Yoshiro smiled softly, "I'm sorry that I was so harsh with you, you're new to the whole being a swordsman thing, you didn't know any better. Yet... I took my anger out on you, if I don't make it, I want you to take care of your sister and your mother. You need to find someone to train you, someone to make a knight out of you. I love you and always have loved you, my son. You are, have always been and always will be, my son. I need to try to find a way out of this situation that I'm in, Sven. I'll contact you if and when I get out of this." Sven's voice spoke over the radio, "Alright, Father." Yoshiro put his radio away and pulled his sniper rifle off of his back. He moved his sniper rifle around as if it was a mine sweeper as he tried to approach the ledge of the building so he could leap off and call for Julius.
Unfortunately, he didn't reach the ledge of the building when an explosion knocked him off his feet and destroyed the front half of his sniper rifle. He hit the ground hard, and hear a rumbling which didn't sound all that good. He was shaken up, and alive, but relatively unharmed so he tried to get up, unfortunately for him the floor immediately under him collapsed as he did so, "Shit!" He fell and tried to adjust himself to where he'd only break his legs upon landing, but unfortunately on the floor below he slammed into a desk, which caused the floor beneath him and the desk to collapse under the stress and he continued to fall another two stories, before slamming into the ground. He coughed in pain as he could tell that several of his ribs were broken, but he wasn't coughing up blood so he was thankful that he didn't have lung damage.
A voice crackled over his radio, "Yoshiro! Yoshiro! Are you alright!" Yoshiro weakly reached for his radio, "Need immediate medivac. I have several broken ribs, I don't know what other internal injuries that I've suffered, but my lungs aren't punctured." The radio crackled to life, "Roger that, sir. We're going to get you home, just sit tight." Yoshiro sighed, "Not like I have any other choice in the matter." Unfortunately, before a medivac team could arrive, a secondary explosion happened above him, his day had just gotten worse. Yoshiro rolled off the desk and crawled under it just in time for the ceiling above him to collapse, unfortunately, the desk didn't fare as well and he was hit by the rubble, everything for him went black.

Chapter 13
As Julius was flying away from the building, he heard an explosion and looked back to see what it was, however, he saw a rocket fly towards the building and slam into it. He felt the psychic connection between him and Yoshiro be suddenly cut off and a deep and burning hatred filled his very mind he looked at the Wyverns that were flying around the city, "Itrewic ekik di sia idol, si geou riliw astahi sari bilaes sio! Sjek wux itrewic persvek sia idol, si geou svent wux!" Immediately the Wyverns started to fly away from the battlefield, except the ones carrying Mamoru, Sven and Lilah. Julius dove straight to the ground and landed in the city, before letting out a draconic roar as a challenge to these Menschilche.
Julius started to sniff the air and he picked up the scent of one around the corner of the building he was near. He charged the building, looked around it with his long neck and bit down on the Menschilche with enough force to bisect him. Julius didn't think the Menschilche was worth being used for energy so he spat the upper half of the Menschilche out onto the ground. The Menschilche reached for a device on his arm, but Julius stomped down with his forepaw, crushing the creature to death. He knew that there were still more in the city and he felt one of them beating at his tail with a blunt object. He looked back and swiped his tail into the Menschilche and slammed both into the side of a building, fatally injuring the Menschilche.
He looked up and noticed that two of them were panicking in a nearby building. Julius didn't even give them a chance as he charged the building, knowing how unstable they were. Julius crossed the distance rather quickly and slammed into the side with incredible force, the unstable building collapsing as he did so, crushing both of the Menschilche to death inside of it. Julius scoffed, "Wux tiliw ti svent sia isthasy ehaism ekess ehaism, faessiri! Si nishka shirr wux bouv de bouv!" Julius knew that only the old guard would know what he said, but he didn't care, his only intention was killing these people that he saw as cowards for killing his brother in this manner. He charged through the streets and saw one of them with a rifle on the roof of a house, Julius closed his eyes and leaped into the air, landing on the house, crushing it and the Menschilche underneath him.
Another Menschilche decided to try their luck with a melee weapon, this time with a knife. Julius felt something scratch at his scales and he looked down to see a female Menschilche standing there, "Tira wux svent sia isthasy?" The Menschilche started backing up, "N-no, I didn't kill your brother! The one that planted the device in that building was my commander." Julius was surprised at the fact that this Menschilche spoke Draconic, "Zyak wux renthisj Vs'shtak, bensvelk. Svaklar ui dout meagear?" The Menschilche female started to speak, "He's... he's in the building to the..." Before she could finish that sentence, she started to spasm, it was obvious to Julius that this woman was fatally poisoned, a fact that annoyed him greatly as he was actually going to let her live.
Julius saw a group of four Menschilche charge at him with weapons, they thought that they stood a chance with handheld weapons against a Dragon. Julius opened his mouth at them and expelled flames, burning them alive. Once they dropped to the ground, dead, Julius stopped and sniffed the air, the scent of Menschilche was getting weaker and weaker by the minute. Julius charged through the city until he found the place where it was strongest, he knew who killed his brother now and wanted revenge. Julius noticed that it was a barely standing office building near the edge of the center of town, he wanted so dearly to bring it down, but instead he flew up to the top floor, where he noticed the Menschilche was hiding with a few guards.
Julius rammed through the wall and grabbed the hapless Menschilche commander, ramming out of the building on the other side with him in his forepaw. Julius then slammed into the building to make it collapse on top of the other Menschilche. The Menschilche commander looked at him, "You expect me to beg for my life, Dragon! I've been trained to fight your kind, I've been trained to..." Julius started squeezing his forepaw, which started to crush the Menschilche, "Thric ner vur loreat!" The Menschilche commander laughed, "I may die, but I die knowing that I killed Yoshiro!" Julius growled and crushed the last bit of life out of the Menschilche, before tossing the dead, broken body aside. He counted in his head and thought about how many Menschilche were left in the city and figured that it was zero.
Julius didn't calm down, but his anger turned to sorrow, he flew over to the building that Yoshiro's body was in and sighed slightly. He noticed that Akira was trying to move the rubble off of Yoshiro, but shook his head, "Akira, petranas shala ve ekess tir nomeno." Akira nodded, "Alright, Julius." Julius started to move the rubble off of Yoshiro with a heavy heart, not being able to feel him through their link. When Julius found the body of Yoshiro, he noticed that he was barely breathing, Akira noticed this as well, "He's alive! Julius, we need to get him to a hospital immediately! The nearest one is in the Kitsune Capitol! Let's go!" Julius nodded and started to fly off to the Kitsune Capitol city with hope in his heart that his brother's life could yet be saved.

Chapter 14
Mamoru sat on Minerva's back as they landed on the ground, as he went to slide off her back, he reached over and grabbed Rogelio's pistol from the holster, removing it stealthily. Sven followed Mamoru off the Wyvern's back and looked at Mamoru, "This is it, huh?" Mamoru nodded, "This is the place. Hopefully I can talk my son's clone down." Sven nodded and looked to see Lilah land as well, she climbed into the building from one of the windows. Sven looked at the door, "Do I go in first, or do you?" Mamoru sighed and placed the pistol in his jacket pocket and walked in, "Hiroshi, come out, it's your father." There was no response, and Sven walked in as well, "Do you think our intel was wrong?"
Suddenly Hiroshi's clone walked out, "Father, I thought you were killed, you hadn't come back home." Mamoru sighed, "This is my home, your home is the Menschilche Imperium. I was born here, and I lived my childhood, got married and had kids here, I can never turn my back on Verbana, son. Please, stop all of this madness, we can go to my house and live and be a family, son." Hiroshi's clone sighed, "I can't, not until all of Yoshiro's line is wiped out. I will have my revenge on him killing the original Hiroshi and causing you so much grief." Mamoru frowned, "Didn't you hear the two explosions, Yoshiro's dead. You killed him, you got what you want, you have won! Stop all of this nonsense, before someone has to put you down." Hiroshi's clone spit on the ground, "I hate him, I hate his family, I hate all that he stands for."
Mamoru sighed, "You are part of his family, as am I, Hiroshi! I'm his cousin and you're his half-brother." Hiroshi's clone frowned, "I'm a clone of his half brother! And you brought his son here for me to kill first." Mamoru watched as Sven started grabbing at his throat, and he pulled the pistol out, taking careful aim at the clone of his deceased son, "Hiroshi, let go of Sven." Hiroshi's clone looked at him, "You're weak father, you would talk so much about revenge, and now look at you." Mamoru sighed, "Son, I really don't want to do this to you." Hiroshi's clone laughed as he exerted more force upon Sven's neck causing Lilah to appear behind Hiroshi's clone. Mamoru knew what that meant and squeezed the trigger, sending a photonic bolt into the center of the Hiroshi Clone's head.
Mamoru closed his eyes, "I'm sorry, Sven. I tried." Sven coughed slightly and looked at him, "He was suffering from psionic psychosis, the stage of which could not be cured, Mamoru." Mamoru nodded and walked over to the corpse of his son's clone, opening his eyes and kneeling down to close the clone's eyes, "I'm sorry, my son..." Mamoru stood up as Lilah left to go find Minako, "Sven, you're a good kid, don't let the fact that you're a vampire get you down. I know that you'll use your new abilities for the right thing, to help those in need." Sven nodded with a smile, "Father said that same exact thing a couple of days ago." Mamoru nodded slightly, "That's good to know." The two of them waited for a couple of minutes as Lilah searched the building for Minako.
Minako walked out of the door with Lilah, and Mamoru looked at her with a soft smile, "Minako, are you alright?" Minako nodded, "Yeah, I'll be fine. Mamoru, did you kill our son's clone?" Mamoru nodded sadly, "I didn't want to, Minako, but both he and Lilah gave me no choice." Lilah scoffed, "I gave you a choice, take the shot or I'd do it. I honestly thought you wouldn't do it." Mamoru looked away at the corpse of the clone, "For a second there, I thought I wouldn't either. Despite everything he did, he was still my son, and I still loved him." Mamoru turned to look at Minako, "Minako, there's something that I have to confess to you." Minako nodded, "Sure thing, Mamoru, what is it?" Mamoru took her hands, "Minako, I still love you, I loved you since the day I met you and I never stopped loving you."
Minako nodded, "That's all and well, Mamoru, but I'm married to Akira, you know that." Mamoru smiled softly, "I know Minako, which is why I want you to remain married to him, you're truly happy with him and even though that does hurt me a little, it would hurt me far worse if I were to take you from him." Minako smiled and kissed Mamoru on the cheek, "That's sweet of you, Mamoru. Thank you." Mamoru frowned, "I have bad news by the way, Yoshiro is..." Lilah's radio crackled to life, "We're at the hospital with Yoshiro, Lilah. Is Minako there?" Lilah handed the radio to Minako and she spoke into it, "Hello, Akira. What is this about our son?" Akira's voice spoke over the radio, "Yoshiro's in critical condition, we placed him in one of the Recovery tanks, but right now he's unconscious and there's no telling when he'll wake back up."
Minako started to cry, "Is he going to be alright?" Akira's voice sounded sad over the radio, "I don't know, honey, I'm glad that you're alright though. The doctors told me that they're going to do everything in their power to save Yoshiro's life." Minako nodded and wiped her tears, "Thank you, Akira, I'll be right over there." Mamoru nodded a bit, "I'll see about having Rogelio taking us over there along with Erna." The four of them walked out of the building and a couple of Wyverns landed, Rogelio looking at them, "Good to see that Lady Minako is alright, what about the clone?" Mamoru sighed, "Dead, look, we need to get to the hospital in the Kitsune Capitol, Yoshiro's currently there." Rogelio nodded slightly, "Alright, get on." Mamoru and the others climbed onto the Wyverns and the Wyverns took off to fly towards the hospital.

Chapter 15
Two months later
Yoshiro awoke and felt himself suspended in a fluid that he couldn't smell, he felt a breath mask on his face. He extended his hands to feel out the material surrounding him, he was in a cylinder, that much he knew. He kept his calm, even though he thought they had lost the battle and he was a prisoner of the Menschilche Imperium, if that was indeed the case, he couldn't afford to panic. He slowly opened his eyes despite the lack of goggles and saw that he wasn't in a Menschilche facility, but rather a Kitsune Medical facility, "We... won?" A male Menschilche vampire walked over to him, he looked far more pale than he remembered, and stood a lot straighter, "We won, Dad. It was honestly thanks to Julius that we were able to attain that victory."
Yoshiro nodded, "There are electrodes on my arms and legs, what are they for, Sven." Sven chuckled, "Stimulation of muscular tissue to avoid muscular dystrophy, Father, it eliminates the need for physical therapy." Yoshiro smiled under the mask, "You look a lot more courageous, Sven." Sven smiled, "It's all thanks to you, say, I'm going to go get a doctor and we'll get you out of that tank." Yoshiro nodded slightly, "Wake up your mother, will you?" Sven smirked and shook Elbereth awake, "Mama, Dad's awake." Elbereth looked at him groggily, "Sven, honey, don't play tricks like that, it's mean." Yoshiro tapped on the cylinder, "I'm awake, honey." Elbereth bolted awake and looked at him as Sven left the room, "Yoshiro! You really are awake! I've been so worried about you that I've not left this hospital for the past two months."
Yoshiro blinked, "Two months? I've really been gone that long?" Elbereth frowned, "You were in a coma for the last couple of months, dear. The doctors said that they didn't know when and if you were going to wake up, but recently your brain has been more active so we had been hopeful as of late." Elbereth turned to a Kitsune, "Minako! Akira! Yoshiro's awake!" Akira chuckled, "I already know, Elbereth. Hey, Hero, what's it like being alive?" Yoshiro sighed, "I just want out of this tank." Akira smiled, "Yoshiro, for once in your life you need to accept the title of hero, you saved my life and almost gave up your own to do it. I'm proud of you, son. I'll let your mother sleep until we get you out of that tank."
A doctor walked in and chuckled, "Well he is awake, Yoshiro can you hear me?" Yoshiro looked at the doctor, "I've been holding a conversation for the past five to ten minutes, can you please get me out of this tank. It feels incredibly gooey in here and weird to float in." The doctor nodded and pressed a few buttons on a console, the tank opened up at the top as the breath mask and electrodes retracted, allowing Yoshiro to swim to the top and climb out. Yoshiro landed on the ground in his small clothes, "Can I have a towel and the clothes I came in here with..." Elbereth pointed to a change of clothes she had, "Or my wife has a change of clothes." The doctor handed him a towel and Yoshiro started to wipe himself down, getting all of the goo off of him, when he was done, he got dressed.
Minako stirred awake, "Doctor, what time is it?" Yoshiro smiled, "It's still night time, Mama, but it's alright, I'm awake now." Minako bolted up and ran to hug Yoshiro sobbing, "I was so worried about you, my son. When I got the news, I felt so horrible." Yoshiro nodded slightly and hugged back, "When I was dreaming in my coma, I dreamt of all of you guys, except the doctor, no offense." The doctor chuckled, "None taken, I'll let you guys have some privacy." The doctor left as Sven walked back into the room as Yoshiro continued, "I dreamt of us living together as a family and of my future son." Elbereth blinked, she was confused about how Yoshiro was so certain her child was a boy when she just found out a few days ago, "How do you know that?"
Yoshiro turned to her with a smile, "When my brain activity rose, I started hearing you guys talk. You told Mom that you were going to have a baby boy, and at that time, I saw him, my son." Yoshiro let go of Minako and walked over to Elbereth and knelt before her, placing his hand on her swollen belly, "Hey there kiddo, I'm your father. I won't be the one naming you, it's going to be your mother, but I promise you that I won't do anything to get myself killed. You deserve to come into this world with both parents." Yoshiro smiled softly and hugged his wife, "Elbereth, I'm sorry about this, if I had known I was going to get hurt, I wouldn't have taken a sniper's position." Elbereth looked him in the eyes, "You're not psychic Yoshiro, and sometimes you can be wrong." Yoshiro frowned, "That's the thing, I was right, I had a gut feeling that something bad was going to happen, but I thought it would be to Mom or one of the old guard."
Sven spoke up, "Dad, you do know that you're going to receive two medals for what you did back there. A medal for being wounded in the line of duty and a medal for outstanding bravery and willingness to sacrifice yourself to protect others." Yoshiro looked at Sven, "Son, you can tell whoever wants to give me those medals to shove them right up their..." Yoshiro didn't get a chance to finish that as Elbereth turned his head and kissed him on the lips, she was absolutely happy that he was alive and well and Yoshiro returned the kiss. Elbereth broke the kiss and smiled, "Yoshiro, just take the medals and the title of Hero, alright?" Yoshiro chuckled, "For you, anything, my love." Elbereth smiled as Yoshiro broke the hug and looked out the window, "We got a long day ahead of us, get some rest people. As for me, I've slept enough these past two months, I'm going to grab a bite to eat."

Chapter 16
Yoshiro found himself at the door of the Kitsune throne room, it wasn't every day that he dressed in regal attire, especially since he gave up his throne, but for this occasion he decided to break out the formal clothing. It had been a couple of days since he had woken up, he was given time to adjust to the fact that two months had passed while he was unconscious and he had no idea about what had happened since he slipped into a coma back then. Masaru stood up, "Yoshiro, you may approach the throne." Yoshiro sighed and took his first step into the room, everyone to each side of the aisle started to clap and cheer for him, which only served to make him a little nervous, this is one of the reasons he hated formal occasions like this.
Yoshiro took a breath and continued towards the throne, trying to tune out the cheers and constant applause of the people around him. When he arrived at the throne, he looked his brother-in-law in the eye, "You'll have to forgive me if I don't kneel." Masaru nodded slightly, "Heroes don't need to kneel." Yoshiro wasn't used to being called a hero, but Akira walked over to him with a box, which Masaru took, "Yoshiro Miyamae, you have done your family proud and brought great honor to them by your deeds. Since you were wounded in the line of duty, I present to you the Red Cross medal." Masaru took a medal that had a red cross on it, not unlike that of a common medical symbol and attached it to Yoshiro's shirt. Masaru smiled, "And for your extreme bravery and selflessness in the face of danger."
Yoshiro looked at him, looking visibly annoyed and Masaru whispered, "Please, Yoshiro, just go with it, it makes the people happy seeing a hero rise and be rewarded." Yoshiro muttered, "Fine." Masaru nodded, "The very fact that you were able to keep your calm, even in such a crisis to your own life. I present to you the Medal of Bravery." Masaru took the medal from its box and attached it to Yoshiro's shirt. Yoshiro turned around to see the people gathered in the throne room and their cheers amplified much to his annoyance. Masaru smiled, "Kitsune People, I present to you, your new hero, Yoshiro Miyamae!" Yoshiro tried to hide his annoyance as he faked a smile and waved to the people. Fortunately for him, the ceremony wasn't much longer and the people went home, except for one peculiar Kitsune with bronze reptilian eyes and green draconic wings, "I've never seen you so uncomfortable in your life, Yoshiro."
Yoshiro blinked, "Julius!? Since when could you become a Kitsune, and speak common!?" Julius smiled, "Since I met you, and always. It's easier to speak in my native tongue when I'm a dragon though. My vocal cords aren't built for speaking Common very well when I'm in my natural form. You should relax a bit, you're a hero, so what?" Yoshiro sighed, not caring that Masaru was in the same room as the two of them as well as Reiko who had been silent this entire time, as she was a bit shy herself, "I don't feel like a hero." Julius nodded, "Come on, let's go see Yoshiko." Yoshiro nodded, and as he started walking, he felt someone hug him from behind, "Big brother, please don't ever do something like that again, you really worried everyone." Yoshiro patted Reiko on the head, "I'll try to avoid things like that in the future, little sister."
Reiko broke the hug and Yoshiro followed Julius to the courtyard where Yoshiko was standing, practicing her fire magic. Yoshiro leaned against the doorway, "Julius, one question. I was under a couple tons of rubble, how did I avoid being crushed to death?" Julius smiled, "That desk saved your life, though if I was only a couple of minutes later..." Yoshiro nodded, interrupting him, "Thanks, brother." Yoshiko absentmindedly threw a fireball in their direction, causing the two of them to move out of the way rather quickly. Yoshiro moved out into the courtyard, "You need to concentrate on more things than just your magic casting there, cousin." Yoshiko gasped, "Did I throw a fireball at you?" Yoshiro chuckled, "Julius and I, yes. We were able to move out of the way in time."
Yoshiko hugged him, "I'm so sorry cousin, it wouldn't be good if I put you right back in the hospital right after you've gotten out of it. How was the ceremony, I'm sorry I didn't make it." Yoshiro sighed, "I was never big on those things, Yoshiko, you of all people should know that." Yoshiko nodded slightly, "I know, cousin. So did Elbereth tell you?" Yoshiro arched a brow as his tail twitched slightly, "That I'm gonna have a son?" Yoshiko smiled, "Yeah! How'd you know!" Yoshiro laughed, "Yoshiko, I was in a coma, I wasn't dead. I could hear you guys talking." Yoshiko nodded as Sumiko walked out, "What are you going to do now?" Yoshiro frowned, "I'm going to go apologize to Hikari for making her take care of me again and after that, I don't know. My coma dreams suggested that I should move back to the Kitsune Territory, be with my family, but I don't want to move Elbereth away from her family."
Sumiko smiled, "You truly are a good person, but there's someone that I've fallen in love with recently, you two. He's a good person like yourself, Yoshiro." Julius chuckled, "Who is it?" Mamoru's voice spoke up, "Say, Yoshiro, to make up for all the trouble that I caused you, how about you be the best man at my wedding? It's in a month from now." Yoshiro turned around and looked at Yoshiro, "Guess I can't call you cousin anymore." Yoshiro extended his hand, "I accept your offer, Uncle Mamoru." Mamoru smiled softly and shook Yoshiro's hand, "Thanks for sparing my life all of those years ago, Yoshiro. If you hadn't, I never would've met Sumiko, and fallen in love all over again. I feel like a new man, and it's all thanks to you." Yoshiro smiled, his heart was at peace for the first time in years, and he knew for the first time in his life, exactly what he wanted to do.

Epilogue- 6 Months Later
Yoshiro stood in the delivery room of the hospital, it had been fifteen hours since his wife had gone into labor and he had been by her side the entire time. As she continued to give birth to their new child, Elbereth managed to speak through the pain, "Thank you for being here for me." Yoshiro held onto her hand, despite the fact that his hand hurt like nothing he had ever experienced before, "You were there for me when I was in a coma for two months, Elbereth, it's the least I can do for you, my love. Now one more push, give it all you got!" The doctor looked at Yoshiro, "That's my job. Alright, Mrs. Miyamae, one final push!" Elbereth pushed as she did, she screamed at the top of her lungs and started to squeeze the everloving shit out of Yoshiro's hand.
Suddenly the doctor held up a baby kilf, who was crying, Yoshiro was thankful that Elbereth let go of his hand as the doctor walked over to the cleaning station to clean off the baby and wrap him in a towel, "Mr. Miyamae, you have a son, what are you going to name him?" Yoshiro took his newborn baby into his arms, the infant was still crying, and Yoshiro felt absolutely proud of being a father once again, "Elbereth, what are we going to name him." Elbereth looked over, "Balthoron." Yoshiro smiled and cradled Balthoron in his arms, "You hear that big guy, your name's Balthoron. You're going to get to ride home with your mommy later, as for Daddy, he needs to spread the good news." Yoshiro gently handed Balthoron to Elbereth, who looked absolutely ragged, Yoshiro kissed her on the cheek and kissed his newborn son on the forehead, "I'll be back."
Yoshiro left the delivery room and walked down the hallway to the maternity ward waiting room. He looked down as he walked into the waiting room, as he was trying to hide his tears, however this caused Reiko to speak up, "I'm sorry, Yoshiro..." Yoshiro looked at her, tears streaming down his face, "I'm not crying because of sadness, I'm crying because I'm happy. Balthoron joined our family today, and I'm a proud father." Luthien smiled, "I think the grandparents have the right to see him, as well as the rest of the family." Yoshiro nodded, "Be quiet though, Elbereth's tired and sore." Yoshiro led them to the delivery room where Elbereth was, the doctor holding Balthoron at the moment to measure him, "He's a healthy weight, Mr. Miyamae as well as a healthy size."
Yoshiro laughed slightly through his tears of joy, "Can I see my son?" The doctor handed Balthoron to him, "Of course." He noticed that Balthoron's ears were still closed and his tail lacked any fur, "I wonder if you're going to get my arctic fur or my forest fur, little one." Yoshiro turned to the others, "Guys, meet Balthoron." Luthien looked at him, "You really did name him after an Elvish hero." Yoshiro smirked, "I didn't name him after anyone, Luthien, your daughter did. He'll grow up to be a great man some day, I just know it in my heart." Minako smiled, "May I hold him?" Yoshiro gently handed Balthoron to Minako, who cradled the little life in her arms, gently rocking him back and forth, "It's been far too long since I held a baby in my arms, Yoshiro." Yoshiro nodded, "It feels great being able to raise another child."
Lilah snuck into the room, which didn't surprise anyone, she wasn't wearing her usual armor and came completely unarmed, "Minako, may I hold him for a moment?" Minako looked at Yoshiro, who nodded, and then gave him to Lilah. Lilah held Balthoron almost protectively, "Hey there little guy, I'm sorry that I missed you being born, I'm your daddy's bodyguard and by extension, I'm going to be protecting you as well. Your daddy's other guard is a dragon, but don't worry, he's really nice and won't let you get hurt." Yoshiro chuckled internally, he knew that despite her outwardly cold appearance, Lilah was a great mother and knew how to handle children, "Alright, we're all going to have turns holding my son, but for right now, I think it should be the mother that holds him."
Lilah nodded and handed Balthoron to a weakened looking Elbereth, who smiled, "Thank you, Lilah." Elbereth smiled and held her son in her arms, "I'm glad that you're part of our family, Balthoron. Your father is really happy too and he promises that he'll never put himself in danger like he did all those months ago. He can be a little reckless, but he's a really good guy at heart." Elbereth looked up, "Hey, guys, can you all leave, except for Yoshiro, I need to get a little bit of sleep." The others left the room, leaving Yoshiro, Elbereth and Balthoron alone. Elbereth handed Balthoron to Yoshiro, "Take care of our son, while I get a little bit of sleep, will you?" Yoshiro took the newborn child and nodded, "I will Elbereth. This I swear to you on my honor as a Kensei." Elbereth nodded and closed her eyes, going to sleep.

Epilogue- 25 Years Later
Sven looked around the Mus Capitol city at night, he had chosen to stay here instead of return to the Kitsune Kingdom with his parents. Instead of becoming a knight, he decided to become a bit of a vigilante, albeit he was licensed to do so, as was his older sister. He loved standing on the rooftop of his home, "Galina, do we have any crimes in progress right now?" Galina's voice spoke over his headset, "No, Sven, it's been very quiet tonight, oddly so at that. Want to talk about something?" Sven shook his head, "No, it's good that the city's quiet for once, hey can you throw me up a blood bag, I'm rather hungry."
Galina walked out of the house and tossed up a blood bag to Sven, who bit down into it and drained it. He only drank blood when he couldn't afford to take time out of his schedule to eat, or when he needed to heal his body, and even then he only drained the blood of the guilty or of surplus medical blood bags. Galina sighed, "Sven, you should come back inside, brother." Sven shook his head, "I can't, I think I'll go for a walk, patrol the city a bit." Galina sighed, "Whatever you say, Sven, I'll keep in touch." Sven nodded as he leaped down from his perch and started to walk through the city streets. It was unusually quiet, but he didn't exactly mind that much, not many businesses stayed open at this hour anyhow so he really didn't have to worry about much.
He walked into the park once more and took a look at the beauty, "Sometimes, I wish I could come here and see this park during the day for myself." Galina's voice spoke over the radio, "Thinking out loud again, brother?" Sven nodded, "Sorry about that, Galina. Say, Galina, do you think that I'm stronger than I used to be?" There wasn't an answer for a few seconds, then Galina spoke up, "Sven, you're more level-headed than you used to be." Sven nodded, "Thanks." Galina's voice continued over the headset, "Are you sure there's nothing you want to talk about?" Sven shrugged slightly, "Just the idea of me being alone, I don't know if I could possibly pass this vampirism onto my children if I have any, and with me being nocturnal and all, it's going to be rather difficult on top of being a vampire to find someone that will love me."
Galina's voice spoke over the headset, "Sven, you'll find someone some day." Sven heard a woman's voice speak up, "Hey! Give that back!" Sven smiled as he threw off his trench coat, "There's a crime in progress, Galina, I'll get back to you." Sven switched off his headset and ran towards the source of the voice, he saw a Mus woman being mugged by an Elvish Male. Sven moved swiftly behind the Elvish male and grappled him, wrestling him to the ground and placing his hands behind his back, "You have the right to remain here until the authorities show up." Sven handcuffed the man, and the woman cried out, "Look out!" Sven looked up to see another elvish man swing a bat at him just in time to duck out of the way. Though Sven was at a massive disadvantage, he managed to get up in time and draw his sword, "I would advise dropping that if I were you."
The assailant didn't care much and continued his assault, Sven moving out of the way of the bat and positioning himself to where he threatened the man quite easily with his sword, making it difficult for the assailant to move in, "We can do this the easy way or the hard way, and since you did swing that at me..." The assailant tried to strike Sven's sword, but Sven moved it out of the way, while keeping it pointed at him, "As I was saying, since you swung first, I can drain you dry." The assailant swung his bat hard, slamming it into Sven's sword, which he used to block. Though the shock did travel down the sword, it had a negligible effect on his hands. Sven kept his grip on the sword as he moved in to impale the man in the shoulder. As the man reeled back from having a sword stuck into his shoulder, Sven grabbed him and easily got behind him, sinking his teeth into his neck and draining him until he passed out.
Once the man passed out, Sven tended to his wounds as he looked at the woman, "Sorry about that." The woman nodded, "You're a... a vampire?" Sven nodded slightly, "Yeah, but don't worry, unless my blood were to mix with his, there's no way he could become a vampire. Rather moot point though as I did puncture his carotid artery, so unless he gets swift medical attention, all I can do is stop his blood from getting everywhere." The woman nodded, "Th-thank you for saving me." Sven nodded, "I'd escort you home, but I need to file a report with the guards." The woman nodded and grabbed her belongings as she walked away. Sven turned on his headset, "Galina, I have two assailants at the park, I'm going to need guards here soon. One of them alive, one of them soon to be dead."
It wasn't long before the guards showed up to detain the suspect that was still alive, the one Sven had bitten had died from bloodloss by that point. Sven looked at the Guard Captain as he pulled his license out of his wallet, "Here you go, sir." The Captain nodded, "Alright Sven. Before I let you go, I'm going to have to ask you to do one thing." Sven nodded, "Sure, what is it?" The Guard Captain sighed, "Leave your sword here for us to analyze. It's currently part of the crime scene and we'll have it back to you tomorrow night." Sven nodded, "Sure thing, sir." The Guard Captain handed Sven back his license and Sven walked away from the scene, "Galina, it feels good to help people." Galina's voice spoke over the radio, "I'm sure it does, now get home, I got lunch for you." Sven nodded, "Thanks, Sis." Sven turned off his headset radio and smiled as he looked up at the moon, he was finally at peace with himself.
