Title. Also, explain why its your favorite.
It can be Touhou, however it isn't limited to just that. I'll go first, since well, I created the thread.
My favorite video game(s) is actually a tie between five games, Resident Evil 4, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Grand Theft Auto V, Pokemon: Crystal, and Tetris.
1. Resident Evil 4: This game is just amazing. A big step away from the old, outdated game style of the past Resident Evil's, it was a perfect blend of survival horror, and an action shooter. With a great story, fun gameplay, and ported to many consoles, its hard not to love this game. Plenty of post game content as well, such as the Mercenaries mode, its hard not to love this game. It also has some of the best boss battles I've played, such as the final showdown against Saddler, or the eerie confrontation in a prison with the Garrador, to even a huge lake monster, this game is pure awesome.
2. Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence: I love this game to death as well. Set in the Cold War, a prequel to the past Metal Gear Solid games, it follows the original Snake, Naked Snake. Subsistence is actually an enhanced version of Snake Eater, so that's why I put it here instead of Snake Eater. With tons of weapons, fun camouflage system, tense sneaking sections, and some of the best boss battles in gaming history. The End and The Boss, or even The Ladder come to mind. It was ported to the 3DS as well, so you can play it on the go. One of the best stealth games of all time.
3. Grand Theft Auto V: A series of great controversy, Grand Theft Auto V is one of the best games of the seventh console generation, pushing the system capabilities of both the PS3 and the Xbox 360, and later the PS4, Xbox One, and the PC. The true definition of an open world game, it allows you to do whatever the hell you want straight from the get-go. With the most vehicle variety and weapon variety of any of the past GTAs, and a map larger then most of the past GTAs combined, this game has it all. Sadly, the story is nothing special, just robbing banks, but nevertheless, it's hella fun. With a new, switching character mechanic, and an online mode, GTAV is one of the best games of all time.
4. Pokemon: Crystal: An oldie, but a goodie. I put this here instead of the newer Heart Gold and Soul Silver just for nostalgia purposes. At the time, Pokemon Crystal was mind blowing. A new reigon, Johto, while still letting us explore the old one, Kanto, and letting us fight all of those familiar faces, Crystal was huge. 16 Gym leaders, and 251 Pokemon, it pretty much doubled what the original Pokemon Red and Blue had. It also (I've been saying this alot) one of the best boss battles ever. Who could forget the first time they battled Red? The hero from the past game, the protagonist, the person you played as. Holding some of the highest leveled Pokemon of all time, and a well balanced team of six, Red was a tough opponent for any kid back in the day. Sadly, he lost most of his difficulty in Heart Gold and Soul Silver, seeing as we have over 400 Pokemon to work with now. Nevertheless, Red still remains as one of the toughest boss battles of all time.
5. Tetris; The last on this lengthy opening post. Tetris is one of the oldest video games of all time, and its still played to this day. The most ported game of all time, Tetris is simple, addicting, and fun. Stacking, stacking, stacking, you can never stop! Proof that gameplay is more important then graphics or story, Tetris changed the gaming industry forever, single handily changing gaming into a world wide phenomenon. What game do you know that was released 31 years ago, and is still being ported to new consoles and played today? Exactly.
Now, enough about me and my ranting. Let's hear yours.

My favorite video game is Dark Souls. It has absolutely amazing design, in every department. The levels and areas are interwoven and beautiful, each contributing to the lore. The lore itself is deep and interesting, with most of it being communicated through item descriptions and other subtle clues. The boss design is great (mostly(fuck Bed of Chaos)), and the soundtrack is absolutely godlike. The gameplay is very fun, and that RPG system it has going on makes it so you can have multiple different playthroughs. One bad thing about it is that it's not exactly "well made" in the performance department. It was a budget game but turned out absolutely amazing, so I can forgive it. Also because DSFix exists.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island In my opinion the best side scrolling platformer of all time. It has incredible depth to it due to the egg shooting mechanic, and level progression is really good. You can notice how with each world, the levels become progressively harder. YI has a good variety as far as bosses are concerned (something the original SMW didn't have). Music is good, and for the most part, the levels are really great (hate 2-2 though). A lot of tech for great speedruns. Yellow Yoshi best Yoshi.
Imperishable Night XDDDD I don't play many video games, so this happens. Has Youmu. Solid system.
There's other 2hu games that I think are among my favorite video games (e.g PCB and PoDD), but I'm too lazy to even write incomplete reasoning as to why.

Hrmmm... I like IN. But as well as that:
New Super Mario Bros Animal Crossing WW A load of Mario Spinoffs (Such as Mario Kart DS)
I grew up playing a DS (and Wii) so most of my favourite games are from there. I might update if I find some great 3DS games.

Considering league's occupied probably at least a few hundred hours of my life, probably up there. No other online game's taken over my life as much. For regular single player games though, tie between two. - Rockman EXE series: I've enjoyed them very much. The combat system is very refreshing and I'm a sucker for that sort of futuristic setting. A good amount of years of improving my RP writing, I owe to this series. Still sometimes play them. EXE2 is my favorite in the series, mostly because I finished it first.
- Chrono Trigger: One of my first games. A refreshing active-time battle system and good character development for every team member. It's still good even now. The romhack Path of Radiance is also awesome!

In no specific order apart from the first one.
1. Metal Gear Solid I actually prefer the third one as well, but this one has extra nostalgia points. It's simply amazing, Kojima is a genius. The characters are amazing to the point you sympathize with even the bad guys and their motivations, the plot is interesting and engaging. Combat is fun as hell and so is sneaking around in a box. (And who around here didn't get traumatized by the alert sound?)
2. Fire Emblem 7 Man, I was so invested in the characters when I played this, and the story as well. The best part for me was knowing that the fact you save someone in that game has dire consequences in the next one. Talking about being a hero...
3. Persona 4 Has a pretty nice concept and the Shadows are a nice addition that work wonders with the plot while working as a pretty nice tool for character development. The fight in Heaven is pretty great too c':
4.Final Fantasy IX The best Final Fantasy I played (which aren't a lot anyway). The characters and the amount of things like mini-games and stuff you can do there had me sold. Also, it's amazing soundtrack is delicious.
5. Undertale Yeah, it's a recent game, yeah it's mainstream. Sue me. It's an amazing game in all sense of the word and it got me completely immersed in it, which was something that no game managed to do for a long time. Also, Goat Mom is best Undertale.

Okay, before I get your jimmejams rustled, I love Persona 4's music, story and atmosphere. It's a very good game in terms of that.
Game play and characters.. Not so much. I didn't enjoy them as much as when I played Persona 3(and I played only a little of 3). Something I will never like is the Persona system, which I only used twice in the game, before selling it back. Is P4 a good game? Yeah, it's okay but it doesn't deserve the hype it gets, now that we have Dancing all Night and Ultimax, even after the confirmation of P5. I don't like it all that well.
The Shadows and such are a good concept, and I like the main villain 1,2 and 3(which I won't say to prying eyes) and the secret final boss. So Dani, I wouldn't say I have a problem with your opinions(though your opinions are ass; leik u), I can also agree with them. To some people, Persona 4 is a excellent RPG, Tim, but I don't see it. I find it alright.

I would say Final Fantasy VIII mostly because it was one of the first games I played. Probably my main gripe is the magic system since I usually end up being too hesitant to use magic and it took a while for me to understand how the junction system works. Its still a game I like to replay every once in a while and I've enjoyed some of the small details in its world.

No order:
Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn It was my first FE game. It has the best game mechanics besides Thracia 776 and the best map design and the largest variety of mission objectives. Storywise I like it, even if some people are complaining about it.Of course it's not as good as its prequel Path of Radiance. However gameplaywise it's much better. The only downsides are the unbalanced difficulty of the three parties and the unbalanced availibility of the characters.
Persona 3 FES Tbh I'm still in the beginning, but after playing only two months I can say already: I love it! I love the gameplay. A mix of a classical JPRG combined with elements of a simulation à la The Sims. The gameplay is great, the characters are cool and the soundtrack is brilliant. Japanese hip-hop kicks ass!
Tales of the Abyss It was my first game of the Tales of series and it became my favorite 3DS game immediately. This game is pretty much perfect for me. I love the story, characters and the gameplay. It introduced me into a fantastic action-RPG series.
Mario 64 I don't play any platformers anymore, but this one is still a superb 3D platformer. It simply can't get old.

I'm not going to provide an extensive elaboration to my choices, nor am I asserting these nominations are superior to any other, other than my nostalgic value and enjoyment I've derived from my experiences. Excluding Touhou, this is the following-
#1: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. #2: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3. #3: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. #4: Devil May Cry 1. #5: Resident Evil 2. #6: Perfect Dark. #7 (Three-Way Tie): Castlevania: Symphony of the Night/Aria of Sorrow, Bloodborne.
