This is probably not quite accurate, or at the very least it's very biased because I haven't played any other extra boss much, but for me it's Mokou. Of course, it might be someone else once I tried their stage. Maybe Ran and Yukari, but not at the moment.

Gengetsu's the most fun for me. She's probably the easiest Ex boss, but everything's pretty fast-paced which is cool. I like Flandre more outside of the games though because she had better lewds. Nue's pretty great too.

For scoring, it's Mamizou by far. But that mostly comes down to TD's mechanics and how it works really well in the stage, not much to do with Mamizou herself (let's face it, her early nons suck). So if I judge just by the fight, I'll pick Koishi. Maybe I just prefer easy fights.

Um, I have played and cleared all extras (minus LoLK, because I refuse to play yet another ZUN trainwreck). What I referred to is the fact that I have played IN extra for about 350 hours in total, whereas for the other extras I pumped out a NMNB at best. My second highest extra playtime is probably PCB extra with like 10. That's why I said it was biased. I have played IN's extra stage literally 35 times as much as with my second most played extra. I didn't mean to say I don't understand how any other extra boss works, but thank you for your concern. |

Duh. No brainer. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zu2PHTIg7soNah, just kidding. The quality of that fight is clearly a betrayal of the character and the music sounds pretty crappy too! Generally extra bosses aren't really my thing. They could be but their survival difficulty are usually made so that all the secondaries can beat them which in itself sets the bar really really low but making matters worse, playing them for score eliminates one of their strongest selling points. Keeping things brief. Mamizou and Hecatia both enjoy a position of being examples of extra bosses that actually use the game mechanics of the game in a proper and decent way in strong contrast to the main games in said titles and Marisa has a decent chunk of that survival difficulty stuff going on. Suwako is probably the closest you get to a boss that mechanically fits my mold since its almost entirely about you shooting and dodging things and then you get 90% of the WR, add a few bombs in the right spots for the rest of it. Only problem is that Suwako forgets that the only way something like that works is by not being the easiest Extra boss ever made but having 10 LNN attempt enders for spells instead... and hard nons too obviously. Just have 15-20 hard patterns that the player is expected to NMNB through. Ideally have the boss be Nazrin. Or have the player character be Nazrin. Great Mouse Wars. I'd play that. |
