Due to the recent surge in user activity, and subsequent publishing of generally unnecessary threads pertaining to a simple question, I resolved that by publishing a thread that would answer various questions whether it pertained to Touhou canonically, chronology, forum-related conundrums, ect, would be more convenient and would provide clean-up for browsing the forum. I'm entirely uncertain as to the proper placement of this thread, if an administrator wishes to relocate this thread to its relevant position, please do so.

There hasn't been an explicit or even estimated number, but suggesting her great age, it's likely a significant amount. It states that she doesn't hesitate to eliminate intruders when they trend upon her garden.

ZUN specifically states that her power, when enhanced with winter, seems seemingly impossible for a single youkai to perpetrate. ZUN, during a Q & A conference states her full power would indeed cause an incident. How exactly would one display such an incident would obviously be extreme wintry conditions.

I think I mostly agree with the vampire hunter theory, as well as the explanation that she was used to using silver knives already.

I believe she was a vampire hunter, who was awed by Remilia's way of life or perhaps her power, and despite being a vampire, or something along those lines. Another possibility was that maybe she at a younger time for her, was defeated by Remilia, and expecting to die, instead got the offer to work for Remilia. Oh right, I also don't suspect she bacame a vampire hunter necessarily to hunt vampires, but rather, as a way to search for someone maybe?

Perhaps Sakuya reminded Eirin of someone? For exapmple Konohanasakuyahime, who is related to Mokou's backstory, and who I think Sakuya is loosely based on.

Renko is heavily implied to be a relative to Sumireko, which The Sealing Club's misadventures takes place slightly in the future, where Maribel distributes some frightening observations about the circumstances of the Outside World, including a pronounced absence of apparent happiness and a majority of native vegetation, which, when current Gensokyo supposedly runs moderately parallel to our own, implies that Renko is presumably a close relative. Currently, no members or even the existence of additional members have be revealed. Correct, Eirin does indeed recognize the presence of Sakuya, but their connection is never fully elaborated upon. |

Is there ever a specific amount of time passed between each game? I know EoSD was "a short while" after MS, but what about the other games? I remember hearing that there was a year or so between each major incident (the main games), but i don't have a source. Can confirm/deny? This should provide you with the necessary information that you seek, with some additional information and Gensokyo's unique naming conventions. My favorite is the orphan theory and how Remilia would give her a home after she and Flandre moved to Gensokyo, personally. I think she is way too full of Ripper references and vampire killing references to be a Gensokyian, the Scarlets and Kurumi are the only vampires in Gensokyo and there is no reason to use the lethal material of silver in a world where problems are solved via danmaku. Hhm, Elis is also 'possibly' a vampire, gonna mention that. Also on another note, there's quite a lot of kinds of danmaku, mind you but Remilia also uses knives as danmaku. (Also Sakuya does use stuff like the giant bubble-danmaku too) thus, she's certainly capable of using more kinds of danmaku. There's quite a lot of speculation about how Sakuya is related to Eirin but iirc her name was found in one of the mangas in one of Eirin's documents (I could be wrong, if so, go ahead and tell me.) iirc there're more things to note about Sakuya that seem somewhat hinting towards lunarian, but no theories have been stated so everything's possible. |
