~Future Competition's Interest Check and Feedback Gathering~

Yo, hai folks.

In order to prettify the forum, we have decided by ourselves and by member feedback that the forum's aesthestic value could stand to be very much better. A prettier forum makes it easier and happier to hang around for everyone, and is more eye-catching for guests. Themes and Banners play a great role in that.

We have recognized there are many people around with an eye for beauty and a knack in art- so we hope we will get interest, and better yet, some eagerness to create new, pretty themes and banners~

Collaboration is strongly encouraged. A single user being involved with multiple theme or banner entries (even if done solo) is also acceptable.

Making themes requires you to be an admin for a ProBoards forum (you can make your own for free) and some exploring with ProBoards themes.

Banner just requires basic image-editing and creativity.

They are both easy to do and do not require knowledge in computer science, coding or designing. Members can apply HTML/CSS for the themes and banners if they so wish, but this is purely optional.

Rules and guidelines will be given when the competition officially starts.

Anyway, we have had some systems for the competition built, and now we wish to ask everyone's opinions about the way we should hold the competition, considering this is an important matter.

1. Theme + Banner Corporation System.

Please answer and pick which form you would like, or propose a different form if you have one. Explanations are appreciated.

* First Form: Theme-competitions only

- All themes must have their own banners.

- In this case, banner designers need to collaborate with theme creators or else their talent will not be utilized.

* Second Form: Theme-competitions and banner-competitions together.

- Themes and banners can be submitted separately.

- Themes are voted for first, then each winning theme gets a banner contest. In this way, theme-creators have less control over banners and everyone who wants to make a banner will have equal opportunity for competing.

2. Opinions in themes and banners.

Themes and banners serve none but the viewers.

As viewers, please give opinions on what you would want, what you would expect from themes/banners.

This information will help themes/banners creators in their designing process.

Please post in this thread and give answers to our questions above. All ideas and contributions are highly welcome.

Your opinion will assist us in creating an enjoyable competition that will result in high-quality, beautiful themes and banners for our forum~

As for question one, I prefer option number one. Would make consistency much better.

And as for the second question, I don't ask too much, only that the content of the themes make at least some sort of sense. I'm fine with just about everything.

I don't know if this competition is going to be to decide a standard forum theme, an option forum theme or both, but in case it's the first, I think it would be logical to create some rules regarding it. For instance, our forum is called Eientei, so it would make no sense if the theme was based on Chireiden or the SDM or whatever - the theme should represent the name of the forum either by using things thematic to Eientei or characters relevant to it.

Optional themes should, obviously, be Touhou relevant but should allow any character or combination of characters.

I also suggest that, in case there are a lot of entries, the top three (in the optional category) get added to the forum.

Ah, I think it would also be important to mention if the same people can send more than one entry to the competition.

Yeh, the one and only standard theme will be SFW and Eientei-themed, having that group of characters/that location, stuff. The other themes can be anything in Touhou.

About the number, we have had suggestions that any theme that is popular enough (gets voted for enough) and is high-quality enough can be added, which means there might be more than 3 or less than 3, what do ya think about it?

-Multiple people can work on one theme/banner.
