Daiyousei
During the events of Mystic Square, a terrible storm had surfaced all around Gensokyo but it was ravaging Misty Lake the most, and what was more interesting was around the time of the Makai incident, there were significant disruptions to Gensokyo's weather patterns so they seemed to be connected. The hurricane that went through Misty Lake pulled up all the water, and the lake had became dry. All the flowers and the land around itself was torn up from the ground. However, while the storm raged a light green ball of energy was manifesting deep inside the hurricane's core. Suddenly, the hurricane was blown away, the darkness around Misty Lake was shattered like a mirror, and a gust of glitter and sparkle came through with a wave of white light. Silence; the sound of peace and tranquility, however the devastation around the lake had been unchanged. Out of the light green ball came two transparent wings with orange lining around them and a young fairy had manifested out of all this chaotic disruption; The Great Fairy of Misty Lake, Daiyousei.
Her manifestation happened right after the events of Mystic Square, which was the perfect time to try and get the lake back its original state. It took a very long time to get the lake back to the way it was before the storm, or what some now call it "The Storm of Makai." The fog interestingly enough around Misty Lake, looked as if it was dividing the lake itself into "left and right" areas, not actually but visually and Daiyousei always stayed on the "left" side of the lake for the time being, and she hid deep in the fog and only came out when necessary.
One day Daiyousei had been cleaning up the lake and fixing some flowers, when suddenly three distinctly new fairies crossed into the left side of Misty Lake from the right side. These three fairies had a plan for Daiyousei and they felt that if they could remove her from the lake, they would be the Great Mischievous Fairies of Misty Lake. As Daiyousei was creating more flowers, all three combined each of their own powers together and a cold blast was shot out at Daiyousei. The blast hit her in the back, causing her to fall into the water. She did not know how to swim and her wings were stuck into a frozen lock due to how cold the blast was. Falling deeper into the lake, something suddenly came from behind her! It grabbed her by the arm and pulled her up out of the water, and they both floated next to one another. it was the ice fairy, Cirno. Daiyousei looked to the fairy and just before she was going to thank her, the three mischievous fairies looked toward Cirno in shock and stopped their laughing. The three fairies were chased off by Cirno with ice danmaku and Daiyousei finally broke free from her iced up wings and flew toward Cirno to give her a big, BIG hug. Daiyousei thanked her and Cirno and her quickly became best friends and Cirno helped keep the lake peaceful around Misty Lake.
Just before the events of Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, Daiyousei warns Cirno that the heroine and Marisa Kirisame are coming toward the lake at any moment as she can feel the air begin to change, as if something was coming at a fast speed. Daiyousei tries to explain to Cirno that provoking the heroine and Marisa is a terrible idea and to just let them through, but Cirno and Daiyousei were too late and Daiyousei was caught in the cross fire, being beaten down easily and Cirno having to fight both Reimu and Marisa, ultimately losing after her own battle. Daiyousei was very disappointed in Cirno for not listening to her but tries to tell Cirno that you can't always win all the time. Cirno flies off in anger from Misty Lake, not at Daiyousei but the fact she lost was more than enough to embarrass her. Daiyousei did not see any sign of Cirno for several weeks and was very concerned about her well being.
After the events of Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, Cirno still never came back to the lake and Daiyousei felt like she had upset Cirno and hurt her feelings. One day in Misty Lake, multiple fairies, including the three mischievous ones and innocent fairies came flying out of the right side of the lake, scared and yelling for help. Ice danmaku was being shot out, and even almost hit Daiyousei! It sounded like Cirno was yelling about her home and whoever destroyed it needed to pay for what they did. Cirno confronts Daiyousei and after not being there for a very long time, somewhat doesn't remember Daiyousei. Daiyousei immediately tries to tell Cirno what happened before she left but Cirno doesn't believe her and she attacks Daiyousei, however Daiyousei defends herself and pushes Cirno back and Cirno snaps out of it and realizes this was her best friend she was letting all her anger out on and that her anger did cloud her better judgment. Cirno promises to return to Misty Lake once she defeats the last person she thinks destroyed her home. Cirno runs into Marisa Kirisame and they have a very hard fought battle, but in the end Marisa gives up due to frustration and simply explains to Cirno that she went easy on her but Cirno being Cirno obviously knows she has won, (in her mind at least.)
Returning to Misty Lake, Daiyousei was so happy to see Cirno and Cirno realizes that her friendship with Daiyousei is far more important than anything else she can ever involve herself in but warns Daiyousei that she is the strongest fairy and will not change her attitude for anyone. Sighing, Daiyousei simply smiles and nods and hugs her best friend, finally happy that the chaos and destruction is finally over for now and all the fairies around Misty Lake are back where they belong and Cirno tries to help out Daiyousei more around Misty Lake. Daiyousei realizes that although her best friend has some faults, she always has to love what her best friend can supply, and that is a great friendship, no matter how much they go through.

Youmu Konpaku
Half-Phantoms are created when the bond between a human soul and their body is incomplete due to an over abundance in spiritual energy. Because of this, the soul exists outside the body, but is still bound to the body and mind of the human. Thus, a Hannin Hanrei is created. The Konpaku family is composed entirely of Hannin Hanrei and live away from human settlements. A rather modest family, those of the Konpaku were raised to be hardworking individuals, always striving to be the best they could be. Youmu Konpaku was no exception. She had an interest in fencing, however, and would sometimes play with a fallen branch, pretending it was a sword. Eventually, she came under the instruction of Youki Konpaku-- another person from her family and the Gardener for the Princess of Hakugyokurou.
Youmu admired Youki and often thought of him as a close friend. The more Youmu learned from Youki, the more distant he became. After time, he just vanished, leaving Youmu’s style incomplete. He took nothing but the clothes on his back without a word, much to the puzzlement of Youmu. As a member of the same family, Youmu inherited his belongings and his title as Gardener of Hakugyokurou. When the Princess informed her of these developments, she merely nodded in consent.
Thus she started her role as the new Gardener. She found that although her title was “gardener” her duties included far more than just that. She was to act as a sort vassal to Yuyuko herself, a thought that made her nervous, but she eventually accepted. As a vassal, she was in charge of cooking, cleaning, and protecting her mistress-- a job her skills suited well. She found no difficulties with the day to day routines and the subtle formalities expected of her. Yuyuko was kind to her, though she picked on Youmu occasionally, she didn’t mind too much. Time passed, Youmu developed as a person and as a fighter, becoming fiercely protective of Yuyuko if she sensed any sort of threat.
Youmu is a hard working, straight-to-the-point type of person. She is a little sensitive, and the words or actions of people close to her have a great deal of power over her. She is full of emotion and tends to be pretty animated and expressive. If the people close to her are happy, her morale and mood are generally good. If they are upset, she will do her best to cheer them up, but can feel that same feeling nagging at her as well.
She tends to be quite cheerful about her duties, answering requests with a "Yes, right away!" or "Of course!". If someone were to do something that disappointed her, she would do her best to hide it, it simply wouldn't do to pass on such a negative feeling to others. Of course, she is a little more distant towards those she does not see often, treating in a cool, respectful manner. Generally speaking, she is very passionate and her emotions bleed through into her actions regularly, though she is capable of restraining these if need be.

Gengetsu
Around ten thousand years ago, there was a dispute between two of the greatest Kami ever to exist: the Sun Goddess Amaterasu and her brother Tsukuyomi. They had an argument over the latter's killing of the goddess of abundance and food, who incidentally was also one of their siblings. Tsukuyomi had acted rashly, but one couldn't put the blame entirely on him. The Goddess of Abundance prepared the dishes in such a grotesque manner, regurgitating food from her mouth, pulling it out of her nostrils and posterior.... that no sane person would've appreciated such display. No matter how good or hygienic the good was, Tsukuyomi was unable to bear such a sight and angrily slayed his sibling in outrage. Amaterasu on her part, condemned such sudden and rash murder of their kin, and eventually, both Kami had a tremendous skirmish that would make the entire celestial bureaucracy tremble, their powers so great that all could only hope earth wouldn't be caught in the resulting crossfire.
The fight ended in a stalemate, where neither kami was able to ascertain their superiority. Deciding to part ways with his sister for the best, Tsukuyomi left the Celestial Bureaucracy and established himself upon the Moon, calling for Yagokoro Eirin's help in founding the Lunar Capital. This is the story of a certain demon named Gengetsu though not the one of the Moon God Tsukuyomi~
At the sight of the battle between Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu, a husk was left, a deposit of the great energies that had been used in the confrontation between both deities. Shinki-no-Mikoto was quick to acquire such valuables pools of energies, for she was a person of science and power – the idea of creating a being with the Moon Lord's and Sun Empress' powers was most attractive to the Goddess of Makai. Gengetsu and Mugetsu would eventually be the first that would emerge from the project, creations of Shinki that we thus labelled “Moonlight Demons”, as they embodied mostly Tsukuyomi's powers.
Gengetsu and Mugetsu were personally trained by Shinki, the latter wanting to accurately gauge the potential of her creations. Gengetsu in particular did not disappoint at all – in fact, her potential proved to be so great that if Shinki ever invested herself for about a hundred years, Gengetsu would probably surpass her. The angelic demon especially shone into the department of magics, quickly mastering spells that would've taken months in but a few hours. Her manipulation of moonlight was fearsome, and so was her agility. All demons looked up to the two beings as role models, wishing to become like them.
However, for Shinki to fully release the potential of these children (both Gengetsu and Mugetsu), she needed to make sure that she could easily control the sisters after they reached the apex of their powers, something which sadly for her, was impossible. The two demons had a personality reflecting the essence of the gods on which they had been based: haughty, rather intolerant, and prideful. The goddess of Makai did not want to see two loose cannons turn into a threat for Pandemonium, and thus, eventually stopped their training and claimed that she couldn't teach them anything else.
As Shinki had predicted, Gengetsu and Mugetsu were quick to challenge her. With the aid of Yumeko and because Shinki had correctly foreseen the revolt and decided to limit her teachings to the two, both her and Yumeko managed to defeat the two defiant demons and make them know their place. Officially, Shinki then discharged the duo with honors, the “official” given reason for their exile being “they were on a quest to hone their skills in the outside world”; in truth, Shinki was going to seal them in some unnamed dream world where time would be distorted, to the point that a month to them would end up being a thousand years in the real world.
Gengetsu and Mugetsu were supposed to spend well over a hundred thousand years in the unnamed dream world, perhaps even more, until the end of the world came. However, against all of Shinki's expectations, the duo was able to break the seal in roughly ten months, meaning about ten thousand years in the “real” world. While a considerable amount of time had lapsed, this would be much earlier than what the Goddess of Makai would have envisioned.
Part of the reason why the seal was broken though, was because of outside interference – during their travels to fight Yuuka Kazami, Hakurei Reimu and Marisa Kirisame inadvertently damaged the seal that had been implemented upon Gengetsu's and Mugetsu's dimension, allowing the two demons to further draw closer to the moment of their liberation. By the time Reimu and Marisa had resolved the incident, which really was just barging inside Yuuka's house and attacking her for no reason... Mugetsu and Gengetsu had opened the seal and prepared themselves to set out and claim their vengeance on Shinki. However, the shrine maiden and witch, on their way back from Yuuka's world, stumbled upon the entrance to Mugetsu's and Gengetsu's dreamworld; thinking that someone else was up to no good, the two humans entered the portal and... needlessly beat up Gengetsu and Mugetsu.
This fight somewhat confused both of the demons, but also caused them to gain some interest into humans, since this was the first time that they actually saw one. Gengetsu decided to postpone her attack on Shinki and wondered if she could learn anything interesting from those “feeble” humans. As a result, the demon has begun occasionally wandering Gensokyo in search of people that would give her some “valuable experience”. She still spends most of her time in her now liberated dream world, cultivating her magics.
