Touhou Character Height/WeightsWelcome to the Touhou character height and weight thread. Here is where we stare at 2D, fictional characters long enough that we start to wonder what they would look like if they were real...Then realize how much time we just wasted. I was doing my daily procrastination when I came across this ZUNmail and this picture: But it has been at least 3 years since this email was written. The order of heights is probably not going to be announced anytime soon. So, lets discuss how tall and heavy each character is. I'll start. Sakuya is described as "Tall", and the world average height for a female human is 160cm (5ft 3in). I would guess Sakuya is from 170cm~175cm (5 ft 7 in~ 5ft 9in). I'll bet on 173cm (5ft 8in) I think Sakuya is fit, since she needs to take care of all the mansion's chores, she also knows how to fight very well. For a woman of 170cm~175cm (5 ft 7 in~ 5ft 9in) the healthy weight calculated from BMI is 53 kgs -76 kgs (117lbs~ 168kgs). Sakuya's frame from official works depict a more slender build, her preferred weapon is a knife, her only known method of strength building is knife-throwing and househod chores. Because of this, I think Sakuya would fall on the lighter end of the scale. I guess about 60kgs (132lbs). |

So if Sakuya is 173cm tall,  does it make Meiling 178cm~180cm tall? Other than that, I have my own shots in the dark regarding the some heights; Yuugi and the old maids eternal 17 year olds. Yuugi: 186 cm, 75 kg (it's all that muscle, I tell you XD) Yukari: 180 cm, 64 kg Kanako: 178 cm, 68 kg (she needs an imposing figure, after all) Eirin: 174 cm, 62 kg Byakuren: 171 cm, 57 kg Yuuka: 168 cm, 60 kg Yuyuko: 161 cm, 52 kg (as a ghost, she can eat all she wants and never get fat XD) Also check out this huge height chart. It really exaggerates the heights in the extremes, though. |

Bump. I saw this post, very relevant.  ===== 2hus Heights Calculation Ver1.01b ===== A friend forwarded me this picture. The pic is a Touhou ULiL height chart measured using sprite with standing straight pose (the measurement is pixel, not cm). ...We then had a long discussion about Touhou girls' heights... at 6AM in the morning (don't ask, we are weird)... so anyway, just feels like sharing some of the gist of it here *Previous post was pulled due to me messing up a single pixel digit, this version is accurate now with added pixel note for clearer visual*: Anyway, back in the old day, Zun once commented on the girls' height, as can be seen here: en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/ZUN/ZUN%27s_E-mailsReimu is listed as fairly tall, and is stated to be the height of an early young girls of age 10-14 for that statement ...since Gensokyo timeline goes along with modern ages, if we were to use modern national average Japanese height chart for female as can be seen here: www.pure-supplement.com/shintyo/002.html(You may want to use google translate to understand the page folks) Anyway, with the age range of 10-14, it would spans from 140cm to 156cm... but by the time of ULiL Reimu should be at the late end of that scale which should be 155-156cm But if we want to get technical and assume the diet of Gensokyo still hasn't progressed much from the diet of old Japan time back during the Meiji era (closest data available for Gensokyo time era)... then that would put Reimu figure around 143-145cm ...but some Japanese data guesstimate Reimu to be around 154.8 cm with their own calculation, so let's do some calculation check with the data of 155cm FOR NOW If we were to take 155cm divide by 149 pixels then we would get a data of roughly 1.04cm per pixel Take this value and times with the pixel value of any of the girl in the pic and you should get her approximate height with the error margin factors of ±2cm (for accuracy sake) So let's say let's measure Hijiri height using modern height standard: 157x1.04=163.28cm With an error margin of ±2, that should make Hijiri's height approximately around 161-165cm... pretty good model standard for modern day Japanese girl right? (especially more-so considering she was born 1000 years ago where average height is only up to 148cm) ...but of course, you would have to wonder whether Reimu height should really be measured using modern height data... well, that's where Sumireko (a girl from actual modern time) would save the day folks '3' Modern Sumireko with Modern Reimu: 153x1.04=159 Modern Sumireko with Ancient Reimu: 153x(145/149)=148.9cm (way too short for modern girl) ...given how the average height for modern Japanese girl is of age 17 is 158cm and Sumireko is exactly a high school girl of around that age... that would put Sumireko's height of 157-161 (with error margin), more likely to be the case ... which would also imply that... Modern Reimu height of roughly 155 to be the more accurate scale of measurement to be used ...so in conclusion, if you was to take this chart and multiply each girl's pixel values by "1.04" ... you should get the approximate height value of that girl with an error margin ±2 (or ±5 if you want to be sure =3=) ...but of course... all of this is ASSUMING IF these sprites are actually DRAWN TO SCALE... which is very unlikely so ...sorry... just wasted 15 minutes of your time having to read this folks, have a nice day/night everyone 'v'b *Everyone is more than welcome to prove me wrong* P.S: *There was also a height chart base on the old Touhou fighting game's sprites but considering those sprites are drawn in Chibi style... those data are essentially worthless to do any actual calculation out of =3=* -P.P.S:FunSized165cmNamusan._.- (Source: www.facebook.com/THProject?fref=photo)--- They're so short! And so I decided to do this my way XD guesstimation skills activate! So the Average is 5'3 Reimu is fairly tall let's say anywhere between 5'2 - 5'4 is average So that leaves us with Reimu being a minimum of 5'5 which is fair since I consider her on the lower end of fairly tall and I think 5'5 - 5'7 is fairly tall So let us assume Reimu is 5'5 - 5'6 5'5 and a half round up so 5'6 Now we have an educated-ish guess that Reimu is 5'6/5'5 1/2 Let's go with Sanae who I think is a very similar height as Reimu who is my real goal here So a while back I found a site which was a huge sprite compilation called Spriter's Resource And there I found touhou sprites and MoF portraits www.spriters-resource.com/pc_computer/touhoufuujinrokumountainoffaith/sheet/51908/ being this so by the power of photo editing I found out that Reimu not counting ribbon is a full 7 pixels taler then Sanae...assuming that Reimu has the same amount cropped out of her picture which I have no idea of knowing but let's assume she does since that's 7 pixels quite a few if I must say so let's say Sanae is 5'4 - 5'5 5'4 and a half round up 5'5 So Reimu is 5'6 Sanae is 5'5 Now for weights 114-126 is the average for a 5'5 women with a small build the average of both of them so let's go with that Now we know Reimu used to do more activity in her PC98 days but no more! She now uses magic for most of the things she does with the exception of house chores so because of her previous physical activity we can assume she has some muscle mass still but not very much so guesstimation...120-ish feel free to think that this number is not right considering it's a guesstimation Now for Sanae we can safely assume that she didn't do too much activity in the human world she probably does more exercise in the shrine so that leaves a bit lighter then Reimu let's say...117 So Sanae is 5'4 1/2 or 5'5 and 117lbs while Reimu is 5'5 1/2 or 5'6 and 120lbs Now as a joke I'm gonna do Sanae's three sizes >_< (thinkofthisasathankyouforthenuealbumZM) 34 26 36 seems to be the average and for the sake of my sanity let's go with that |
