Scoring is rather cute. It was something I got into after running out of things to do in survival.
Although it's really different and much more difficult. Unlike survival, where you want to be as safe as possible, in scoring, you seem to try and make things as difficult as possible.

Scoring is too hard. We're never gonna score.

I'm really interested in scoring Imperishable Night and Perfect Cherry Blossom, but I'm still very bad and have a lot of survival issues, so I can't do that yet. I also would not know of which difficulty to start. The extra stages may be good choices, since they're shorter? But there's more bullets than on easy mode. Very unsure where I would start in the first place, but one day I'll become good enough and play for high scores...Probably.

First you should try to get solid at the survival part, by then you'll probably have a better idea of where to start with scoring aswell (and if not you can simply experiment a bit)

First you should try to get solid at the survival part, by then you'll probably have a better idea of where to start with scoring aswell (and if not you can simply experiment a bit) Frankly, I expected as much. Having a lot of lives left at the end of the run is very important in IN. I have seen one player stream IN's extra and they were really good at it; I think the name was Sakurai. And when I watched them I noticed that one life made a huge difference in the resulting score. The bonus is lower in the main game, but even then, I imagine it's still quite significant to finish with full lives and as many bombs as you can. Even on normal mode, a life is 25 million points. if you just finish with half of them, you're losing 100 million! Which is why I know that I need to improve my survival a lot before I can think about playing for good scores. I'm also not sure which character to use. I really like Alice a lot, but her shot's kinda weak, and I also really like Remilia and Youmu, but they both seem difficult to use effectively. A lot of things to consider for me in the future. PCB's lives don't seem to be worth as much in the main game, considering how I have seen really good runs not finish with full lives. but I think it's very important not to die too much here as well. Dying in a bad spot seems like it could lose a lot of point immediately, after all. Thank you for your reply!

As far as choice of character for scoring goes my mentality is that scoring is gonna be difficulty regardless of the shot, so you may aswell play the ones you like. (in some cases there is probably still a big difference in difficulty between shots though, so I'm not sure if it is th wisest :V)
