I would like to see it. - Versions like AW, WL, Emerald, Purple, Puppet Play Enhanced, Puppet Dance Performance, what are these and how different they are from each other?
Seen in the first link on how to set up Touhoumon. What do these mean? Touhou Puppet Play 1.5 vs. 1.812? Explain.
- Stand alone? Patched ROM? Who gets what?

Puppet Dance Performance it's stand alone, the others are rom hacks of Pokemon Fire Red/Emerald.
I'd go into more detail, but I'm.on my cell phone. So I'll.leave that to someone else.

Sorry, I'm here.
Right, 1.5x refers to an older format of Touhoumon (which includes the hacks World Link, Marisa's Magical World, and Another World) In 1.5x, most mons go through Chibi, normal, EX stages. The main problem with this is that there's a severe lack of balance. A semi-small portion of mons have a 4th "Last Word" form that they can evolve into, which are significantly stronger than EX forms (LWs have about 680 BST, which is the same BST that most ubers in Pokemon have). This is all well and good, but later opponents have "Zero" forms, which are standalone forms (You can't get any until you finish the story essentially in World Link/Another World, although in MMW there's an event for a Japanese ZSanae). The problem with Zero forms is that they have a ridiculously high BST at 780 and broken abilities. The fact that most later opponents have teams that exclusively contains LW or Z forms for mons pretty much discourages you from using anything that's weaker than an LW form, which means you're locked out of using a good portion of characters, possibly your favorites.
1.8 hacks include PPE and Purple. The hacks have a "shard based" evolution system. Basically, you have Chibi forms, and at level 30-40 they'll evolve into their normal form, and that's that. Additionally, however, there are "shards" that are literally just reskinned evolution forms. They evolve your mons a little earlier, as well as give them a different stat spread and movepool. (for example, using a Speed shard on someone who can evolve with it evolves them into their Speed form, which obviously is gonna have more speed) In addition to having a simplified evolution system, pretty much all the stats for the mons are relatively the same, leading to the game being a lot more balanced. There are still a couple of boss-only mons, but they're not nearly as absurd as a 780BST superuber.
If you need me to elaborate on something else, I will. sorry, if you couldn't tell I suck at explaining.

Very good explanations on the 1.5/1.8 mechanic differences. Now I would just like to know one more thing. How are these and these groups of games distinct from each other and where do Emerald and Puppet Dance Performance fit.

1.5 hacks carry over the typing tables from standard/vanilla Pokemon and applies them to the Touhou girls in whatever way fits.
1.8 has a new typing table that's more balanced. Example, instead of Electric type you have Wind type.
World link takes place in Hoenn, I think. Another world takes place in "Gensokyo" and in Kanto. PPE and I think Purple take place in Kanto, with PPE having Johto as post game content. Magical World is mainly used to catch Touhous to transfer them over to Another world.

The first group basically play by 1.5x's mechanics, and the second group play by 1.8x's mechanics. The games that are in the same group basically are compatible with other games in the same group (so you can trade a mon from World Link to Another World, but you CANNOT trade one from World Link to Purple).
Touhoumon Emerald and Touhoumon Purple are the exact same thing. Emerald is just an earlier version before the hacker changed the colors and the name.
Dance Performance is a separate PC game. It's made by the guy who made the original Touhoumon hacks, and plays slightly differently. I can't elaborate more on it since ive never actually played it.

Being the most updated and the most balanced, it sounds like Purple is the way to go for a first-timer to Touhoumon, yes?
Though 1.5x, imbalanced as they are, seem to be the better-known games.

Yeah, people probably know the 1.5 games the most, it seems, since they came earlier and stuff.
I'd go with Purple, why not.

Puppet Play Enhanced is also your second best bet too, but Purple is the most user friendly.

Purple was made to be relatively challenging. The champion has mons in the 70's That said its still better than the other hacks, in terms of grinding

I'd rather tangle with these than tangle with permanently mega-evolved Ubers.
So Purple it is.

That's a good idea, especially considering than tangle with permanently mega-evolved Ubers. That said mega-evolved ubers are level 100 as well. <:3

Zero forms BST is 950 ZFlandre's highest stat total for attack and Sp attack is 526 If that isn't to show how fucked you are, i don't know will.

Whaaaaaaaat This goes beyond insanity. This goes beyond any OP Pokemon ever made. These are the BSTs For Mewtwo and its Mega forms. For the sake of comparison, ZFlandre holds base 190 Atk and Sp. Atk simultaneously (that's what I think; an absolute max of 526 Atk/Sp. Atk means 190 base for both, as seen with Mega Mewtwo X's Atk), and with 900 BST she's also faster and tougher than Mega Mewtwo X, who isn't exactly fragile to start with. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat They didn't just blow away the Mega Evolutions; Zero Bonéka simply kyuus them all.
