[Another World] Uh... odd glitch in version 1.51, help?

So... I'm just before Celadon City in Another World.... and I have a bit of a problem.
The game freezes every time I try to enter. Not only that, when I switched back to a clean ROM, entered, did stuff to force the recap to not show me entering, the game crashed after it completed.
I'd like to advance further than this, but... This game isn't making it easy.
I checked the FAQ, and it would seem a few people asked about it but do not appear to have received a response.
This glitch is a massive roadblock... so what's the deal?
