This is where we talk about non Touhou shmups because shmups are all great, even the old ones that haven't aged too well. I'll start by listing a few of my favorite ones.

I spent 2 months throwing my head against the brick wall of number manipulation that is Crimzon Clover WORLD IGNITION's BOOST mode. That was fun for a while.
I've been wanting to try more non-Touhou STG, if I ever get around to buying that arcade pad so I don't feel guilty about trying DDP and Dimahoo with a keyboard.

Danmaku Death is a pretty interesting concept, with score based upon clear time over anything else. Survial clearing is very easy, but going for score is pretty fun.

Last Monday I finally got Otomedius Excellent after wanting it for three years. It's as fun as I thought it would be. Two of my favorite things from the Gradius series is in the game, custom loadouts and the Jade Knight(Esmerelda). So yes, with those two features I love the game so much, it's my favorite Gradius related game.

Yeah, for the last week up to now, I've been working on Mushihimesama Futari. Yeah, initially, I was working on DoDonPachi, but I suddenly decided to go work on Mushihimesama Futari instead (Sooner or later, I'll put in serious work on DoDonPachi). Yeah, it's a Bullet Hell shotter that was developed by Cave, and it's for the Xbox 360. It's region-free, so any Xbox 360 console in the world can play it. =)
Yeah, I've spent probably a week or so at it (I started playing this one seriously since Christmas eve), and I've managed to get a 1.5 Original 1cc, a BL Original 1cc, & a BL Maniac 1cc out of it in that time frame! ^^
So yeah, this game was a lot of fun to work on, and it was a breath of fresh air, since I've decided to take a walk outside of Gensokyo for a little bit, but now, I think it's time for me to go head back to Gensokyo now (Planning to work on IN Lunatic mode, among other things, of course), since I got what I wanted done for Futari, as it currently stands. Next time, though, when I do get back on Futari, I will want that 1.5 Maniac 1cc, and the BL God mode 1cc, so that'll happen, the next time I come back to it, as well as me doing score-runs for the other stuff in Futari! =) I guess I'll also do a 1.01 Original mode 1cc as well next time.
It was nice to know that, despite the fact, that my training in Gensokyo is currently incomplete (I haven't beaten all of the Touhou STG games on Lunatic yet. I did five of them so far: EoSD, PCB, PoFV, MoF, GFW), I can easily do some arcade clears now, like some of Cave's stuff, for instance, which I couldn't do several months ago. Touhou really does wonders on your STG skill level! =)

yeah I saw that on shmups forum. Unfortunately mushi futari originial has been kicking my ass. Although it's incredibly fun at least. I feel like I have a chance at mushi futari unlike daioujou so that's cool though. That bullet speed can get insane. |
