I know she protects the village and all, but I thought that people in the human village were insanely wary about youkai.

Anyway, Alice being Romanian is a curious thought, something worth thinking about. Just imagine Alice with a Romanian accent. Very alluring.
I have some thoughts on the backstories of Chireiden's residents. Satori strikes me as someone that may have been joyful in the past, but the hatred of humans and others turned her personality around completely.

There is no problem with this. You see, it isn't just 'ghost', there's a lot more to it. There are multiple classes of spirits in Touhou lore and Japanese culture in general. Yuyuko is what you would call a ghost, while Mima and Tojiko are what you call evil spirits (though Tojiko's anger has been dying out and she's becoming a regular phantom). The spirit that's with Youmu is not a ghost, but a phantom. If you look at PMiSS, you will see that Phantoms, Ghosts, Evil spirits, and Poltergeists are all different classes of spirits, there's a clear distinction.

A phantom is the most general spirit. They may or may not be the souls of those who died, but they are formless beings. The thing that makes phantoms come about is when a human goes through an instance of extreme emotion, which normally happens when a person dies. When a person dies, it's possible for multiple phantoms to arise from them. They are extremely cold to the touch; cold enough to cause frostbite and they are mute. Many of them wander between Gensokyo and the Netherworld, but they all eventually end up at Higan to be judged by the Yama. While non-human related things are usually considered youkai, a phantom is not.

Phantom, or Yuurei (faint spirit) is also the general word for spirits in general. Kind of like how 'Ghost' is in this language. However, this causes things to be lost in translation because there's actually a difference between Phantom and Ghosts. The closest word to Ghost in Japanese is Borei (dead spirit).

A Ghost is a human soul that has a strong connection to the physical world. Due to this, they are very human-like in form, even having a human body temperature and solid to the touch. Ghosts are not capable of phasing through walls like phantoms or other spirits. A ghost usually comes about because they hold some sort of attachment to the physical world, such as not realizing they're dead, revenge, wanting to protect something valuable, not being done with this world, etc. They are very dangerous because many ghosts have the ability to invoke death, or steal your soul. In order to get rid of a ghost, you must find its body and perform the proper rituals.

There are two types of evil spirits, angry spirits, and vile spirits (or just evil spirits). Angry spirits come about when a body isn't properly buried, or its body is stolen by a Kasha. They are extremely hot to the touch (opposite of a phantom), and are malevolent. They are also very dangerous to both humans youkai, youkai especially. If an evil spirit were to get a hold of a youkai, it would basically wipe its existence.

Vile spirits come about when a human dies while cursing humanity. They have a very powerful connection to the human world, and only seek to cause harm to anything and everything. They are fierce and destructive spirits. All vile spirits have a human-like upper half, and two ghost tails. They are hot to the touch, and are quite powerful. Its possible for a vile spirits anger to subside, making them no longer vile and lusting for revenge (WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!)
