[Achievement thread]- Touhou game clears? Extra clears?

It was ReimuB, yes. I'm not good at handling Marisa's speed and found the homing shots underwhelming, and SakuyaB is just difficult to use.

Yes, it's my first 1cc of any hard mode, in fact. But I barely captured half the spells in the game. If I count correctly, Perfect Cherry Blossom has 30 spells on hard mode? I wouldn't say 50% is very high. I understand that over 1 billion is high for a first clear, but it was really messy. (Like dying twice on Alice, and just lots and lots of border breaks in general) I just practiced getting most of the items, that's all, which translates into more lives in the first place. I'm trying to spend all my bombs, but a lot of times I just die without realizing I was in any danger. And at other times I just run into some lone bullets I should never even be close to. It's difficult to be prepared to bomb in those instances. maybe if I become better at resource management, I will be able to clear more games on hard mode, or maybe even lunatic mode.

Of course "a lot" is always relative. If it were a full cap run you were going for 50% would be very little. However for a first 1cc I think 17 is a really high cap count (to put perspective, my first eosd lunatic 1cc, which gives you far less resources had 8 captured spellcards, which is an extreme in the other direction ).
I know that using all your bombs can be hard and I often struggle with it myself. Some things that I think help with using your bombs properly are:
- learning stageroutes, which makes you really save in most touhou games and also allows you to bomb when you realize you messed something up
- just getting more familiar with the game so that you know which points are hard/tricky so that you're more prepared to bomb those or just use a bomb by default if your consistency is too low (for example green books in eosd stage 4 on lunatic)
- Bombing whenever things get too chaotic and you feel like you're in sanger and losing control

As I said even following that it's hard to always use your bombs, but if you notice that you're wasting a lot of bombs by dying you can also try to be simply more triggerhappy (and then if you're starved for bombs without wasting them maybe use them a bit less).
