these tier names arent descriptive enough, they lack character. i propose that we rename lunatic to "fucking godlike superplayer" tier and all the others can be "fucking scrubnoob secondary" tier.
also jsut a reminder that if you have medicine or aya unlocked for pofv, you can be a fucking godlike superplayer for free!

I'll have you know that I've cleared the Looney mode of my favourite games but putting me into a superplayer category would be HELLA dum when people like Mino and chum are better, cuter, faster and stronger than me in all of those games
Please don't bully

I fancy the idea of somehow sorting players by skill, but I agree with chum that the list doesn't go deep enough (or at least that is what I think they are implying). Naturally, a player who can just barely clear normal mode is different from someone who plays normal mode for very high scores; and similarly is a player like Yuusuke better than a player who can just barely clear Perfect Cherry Blossom on lunatic, but according to this list, they would be put into the same tier. It's simply not varied enough. Kind of like how you have a lot of different tools available, but aren't using half of them. Or something similar to it.

I don't think specificity was an objective when this was made, nor should it really be now. It's just meant to be a list so you can find out where someone generally is.
If it would be appropriate to have a "superplayer" tier above lunatic tier, then sounds good to me. Not sure how much more in-depth it's really necessary to go, after that.

I don't really like the idea of ordering people by tiers and I don't find this way of ranking people is very good either but playing with the idea a bit anyways, i figured like... doing it in a cute way that has something to do by basically putting people into "trainee, experienced, good and Mousterful" with the lowest tier practically being the average joe who is still learning the ropes going through Easy-Hard modes. Now nobody is saying this isn't a journey and that you're trash for being on that journey, but simply that its like schooling before the real thing which usually takes time!
Experienced players are like people who can clear a good chunk of shmups with relative ease or who has played a lot of shmups and may as a result have pretty solid fundamental skills as well as basic knowledge about the more advanced mechanics of titles.
The Good players are those who specialize in a game or two and through dedication to their craft develops advanced strategies that allows them to skillfully extract high scores from their games. You won't be able to play at this level by simply being experienced. You need to sink in the effort to learn! A lot of people don't reach this level. Pls no sudoku over that hmm kay? This doesn't make you a bad person. Maybe you're simply spending this energy trying to find your mouse? Who knows?!
Mousterful players are players that are the best of the best in the world at what they do. Most people here will probably not reach that level but they should at least offer the people willing to offer respect to those willing to go to such extreme lengths! These people are worthy of the term Mousterful which is a term that means if these players where to spend the night in an igloo while camping up north, the igloo would melt overnight.
This is a totally reasonable tier-list if i should say so mouself!

But isn't that exactly the problem I was addressing? It doesn't do just that. Naturally, one could add a "superplayer" tier list, too. But the term is very vague and therefore not descriptive. What constitutes a superplayer? At which point do you rise above the lunatic tier we have here and become a superplayer? What about all the steps inbetween? I'm sure there are people who can more or less reliable clear a game in no bomb, but aren't any good with the system for score. Are they a superplayer, or again, just put into the same level as everyone else? Or let's create an odd example that I am sure has happened before: There's 2 players. Player A and player B started at the same time and improved at about the same rate. After clearing normal mode and and the extra, player A decides to move on to hard mode, while player B decides to delve into the game's system and try to play to improve their high score in any of the difficulty they have cleared (i.e easy, normal and extra). Let's say they're playing EoSD. So while player A is trying to beat hard mode, player B tries to score, let's say 350 million, in the extra stage again Flandre. For convenience's sake, let's say they both reach their goal at about the same time. Who's the better player? The one who's beaten hard mode, or the one who has reached an intermediate score in the extra stage? We can take this example further with player A trying to beat lunatic and player B trying to get 500 million. Who is the better player after they both reached those goals? In my opinion, it's player B. of course, it is difficult for me to judge either of those 2 achievements as I'm nowhere near the level of either, but I feel like most people should agree with me based on intuition alone, really. As it stands, the whole list is just very foggy and unclear. Of course, it is no trivial task to actually make it into something that's in-depth, but it should be possible if there's several people consulting and working together to bring about a good result with this. EDIT: What mus is suggesting is very reasonable! And more in depth than what is happening currently.

I kinda like Zengekus idea, even though it's obviously a bit of a subjective ranking I think it's probably the most accurate you could make (the highest tier should not have a stupid name though)

EDIT: What mus is suggesting is very reasonable! And more in depth than what is happening currently. My point is that you're thinking far too hard about this. It's not meant to be an accurate list. And it shouldn't be. That's just too much hassle, it's not trivial as you say. It's just meant to give you a rough idea where people are working at. As for Zengeku's idea, I mean go ahead and make that... in a separate thread. I don't see why we need to make any of these threads "official". If you want to differentiate between the different levels of "good player" then go ahead. I'm happy to stay in this thread, differentiating myself at the lower level. The issue with only having one set of tiers as Zengeku proposed is that it's no more specific for the lower sections than the current one is for the higher sections.

I was actually considering editing the post that there should also be more detailed grouping at the low level (easy mode, normal mode, extra, etc) IF you actually wanted to do this, but again. No reason to tier people really.
Also. NC I will destroy you! Mouse puns are perfect.
