In the land split in five, there were five nations. Eisenberg, Draconia, Sammia, Eternia and Platina. Each held their respective warlord, and their kingdoms. Shadowfrost, King of Sammia, otherwise known as the Scarlet Flame or the God of the Underworld, was one of those warlords.

Shadowfrost had gone on a scouting mission with his loyal subordinates, a family they had called the Zenbiniar Family, named after his last name. He left his tactician, Julius in charge of the main camp while he was away. However, he did not return. So Julius took it upon himself to lead the charge to find his king. So Julius, his spouse Madison, Hixan The God of War, and Zeke the Bloody Blade set out to find Shadowfrost Zenbiniar...

“Are we all set?” Zeke asked Hixan. “It seems a bit troublesome that our lord, has gone missing.” Hixan shrugged. “Do not worry, things like these happen. Though Shadowfrost should know his own lands by now!”

“Enough. From the both of you.” Madison walked up. “Julius, should be on his way.” Hixan snorted. “That lapdog.. Gah, I knew there was a reason we’re mobilizing our troops. Ah well, if its for something that cannot be avoided..” Julius said behind him, “I am no lapdog. Remember that. Now, then, we should get going.” Julius turned to the gates. “My lord, my lady. “Death to the Zenbiniar Clan!” And with those words, an arrow, came flying from the forest. “What.. the hell?” Shadowfrost avoided the arrow. “I knew it! It was an ambush all along. Well then.. Whose flag do you follow?”

“None. You, Shadowfrost Zenbiniar, God of the Underworld, are sentenced to death.” A woman with pink dress with floral patterns came out. “Silph Scope. What do you want.” Shadowfrost brandished his blade. “I want, your head. For treason of course.”

“Master Julius! It seems like Shadowfrost has been found! He has been found fighting Silph Scope, and the forces of Draconia, Eternia and Eisenberg!” Julius says, “What!? That’s impossible... Unless the bases we put soldiers in were all full of ambush troops. Quick, we must search them all! Zeke, Hixan, search for Ariadne and Eric. I will go find Rolan, Lady and Kate. Hopefully they’re alright.” He cracks his whip and heads off.

“This is no fight, this is a massacre. dammit.” Zeke punched the ground and shot three more arrows at the incoming enemy. “I’ll agree with you. Though, finding the corpses of the captain of the guard and your main army’s tactician is never a good thing..” Hixan sighed and looked at both bodies. “Looks like like we were too late.” Zeke said. “We must find the root cause of who’s doing this...”

“Julius! I found Ariadne.” Madison said approaching him, on a horse. “Shadowfrost...” Ariadne said barely. “Yes, what about him? Where is he?!” Julius replied. “Got trapped.. with Draconian Queen.. save... my lady..” Julius nodded. “I assume Xander is there too. I’m not sure where Eric is but.. we’ll find them both. I have a feeling that they’re in that main garrison there.”

“There you are!” Julius fired off his death magic at Silph, and proceeded to make a hand out of magic to choke her. “Where is he?” Silph gave no answer. “Hmmph.” Squeezes the hand more. “Julius. You’ve done.. enough.” The familiar voice said.

Julius dropped Silph and turned his back. “Go now, or I will not hesitate to kill you.” He turned to Shadowfrost. “Are you alright?” Shadowfrost says, “I was not.. prepared enough. Because of this I lost comrades.. and my most beloved.” Shadowfrost sighed and held his hand up to the sky. “And now.. I will be going.. to join them.”

“What? No, you cannot die yet!”
“Enough.. Julius. My time here.. is done.” Shadowfrost gave Julius his sword. “Wounded by.. Draconia’s hatred.. my wound was further gouged by their tenacity.. When my children are able to rule sufficely, you must give them that.” Julius nodded. “Hixan, Julius, I leave the rest to you. Use it as you see fit.” Shadowfrost closed his eyes.

“You’re just.. leaving it all to me?” Julius said.
“Hehe.. If I knew you from a friendly perspective.. then you’re excited by your new powers.” Shadowfrost said.
Julius replied, “There is no greater man than myself, to lead Sammia into the future.”
Shadowfrost closed his eyes. “Good good.. ah, friends, comrades.. I can see your faces again. Hehehe...Muwhahaha..!” And so, the Deus of the Underworld, died on that very spot.

Everything had happened in slow motion. Frame by frame, as if time itself had stopped to take a picture of each moment, each microsecond of the scene playing in front of her eyes.
They were up in the sky, it was supposed to be a friendly danmaku battle, both the Tengu and the Oni were facing one another, there were smiles on their faces.
And then she watched as her friend was hit in the head by a stray danmaku. She crashed down, completely unconscious, plummeting down to nothingness.
Aya’s heart froze and so did her body.
´Move! I have to move!’
Fear was cold and numbed her senses.
´What am I doing!? MOVE!’
Her wings spread wide in the air as she flew down, the wind whistling in her ears.

Faster, she had to go faster!
Each microsecond… ever so slowly.

A scream, an ear splitting scream breaking the silence.
It took her a moment to realize it was her own voice.

“Momiji! MOMIJI!” Someone held her down but she couldn’t see anyone, only the blood, only the sight of her friend... her friend…
She thrashed against her captors, tears trailing down her face. No, they had to let her go! She could still do something. Yes, she could still…
A tiny prick on the neck.
Her eyes felt tired, she couldn’t keep them open, her body too refused to heed her commands.
So… very… tired…
It didn’t matter, she always had tomorrow. Tomorrow… without fail, she would save her… without… fail…


Eirin Yakogoro wore a grim expression as she observed her apprentice laying the sedated Tengu down on the padded room floor through the unbreakable glass window.
“You know you don’t have to come here every day.”
The unmoving silhouette at her side finally shifted.
“Yes, I do.” The red and white girl answered, her expression nothing but a blank canvas.
“I’ve said this before and I’m saying it again: it wasn’t your fault.”
“You’re wrong.” She had failed. The Spell Card System had been created to avoid any serious injury, to keep both humans and youkai safe and yet…

“Can’t the same be said about her?” The miko asked. It was a rhetorical question as both of them knew very well the answer.

Eirin didn’t reply, eyes still focused on Reisen and the Tengu girl.
The sound of footsteps signaled Reimu’s departure and she closed her eyes, waiting.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.” The girl said.
“Yes.” The lunarian quietly replied.

Reimu’s footsteps faded away in the silence.
Tomorrow she would go to Eientei once more and witness Aya trying to change the unchangeable, fighting to save someone who no longer lived but in her mind.
