Hey all. I'm posting this topic due to a concern I've been having for quite a while: activity.
We're a small forum, yes. But I do know we have the potential to be quite active and attract the many guests that lurk here to join and increase our numbers. As of late, though, our activity has been lacking. I want it to increase.
Ideas?

*Possible removal on the time limitations on threads, or more leniency for posting over the recommended date for a "dead" thread (As half of the threads last posted on exceeds the one month inactivity rule).
*Conceive more activities that require unity within the forum, more contests, and possible collaborated projects.
*Inspire more user activity, think of attractive alternatives to keep the membership's conversations and activity within the facility of the forum.
Those are just three possible resolutions that could attract newcomers, but the primary issue is within the confines of our own user registration, we have exceedingly few people active, regardless of our attractive conceptions, which completely demoralizes potential membership as I wouldn't want to register into a forum I perceived as about as living as a graveyard, with the most recent post on an extreme majority of threads vastly exceeding the time restrictions.
The most attractive threads are seemingly ones that require an amount of cooperation to continue, the Touhou Riddle thread possessed massive activity on its debut, which it required the cooperation of the posters to continue the session, which is deducible to Role-Playing threads, additionally.

You're gonna be quite a help in us fixing this situation. ^^ I can offer an additional, minor solution. Attempt to make changes to the interface of the forum, to show that activity and time were put into the creation of the forum, and attempt to update that interface regularly, as this attracts people to the effort and conveys a thought of activity, which is our main issue here. When a forum or site's appearance constantly changes, it makes it seem like there is a great amount of activity, at least from a psychological point of view. |

I also had this thought: Looking at the boards of Reimu's Workload, having to split the Touhou games into specific boards does not seem to work. They'd be better off if they were all grouped together, no? That's just my theory. |

Of all the available boards, Suika Tavern has the highest guest activity at a mere glance, those they're obviously attracted to the superficial conversations and random Touhou threads that spawn from them, as it doesn't have a specific intended purpose, alike the Touhou Addict Recovery Center on the MoTK, which offers some interesting alternative including posting more frequent Touhou-oriented thread in that section.

Something to help make our forum appealing would be to indeed handle any traces of inactivity. Reimu's Workload, as I've mentioned, is very barren in some parts. Makai has a whole two threads. That's kind of a problem.

It would be extremism, but perhaps by combining the boards that show extreme inactivity, such as the individual generations, would lessen the conception that there is genuinely no activity, as it completely erases those traces of threads with posts from months ago, and combines all threads to make it appear much more appealing; a board that combines all three with a moderate amount threads is better looking than three boards with a few amount threads. |

I agree, multiple inactive boards make activity seem more isolated and desolate, it's more appealing visually to combine them. |

I would like more activity though, I come on usually quite often and there isn't much to post on. I'm considering to maybe make a poll or something about the hardest final boss final spell. Maybe like more polls or votes and stuff like that?

I can definitely understand this. Creating new threads for more or less the same subject is not quite desirable. Though, just as a little note, if a thread has exceeded the one-month inactivity rule, but hasn't fallen out of the first page of its respective board, posting in it does not violate the current necro-posting rule. I hope this makes the posting issue a bit less severe, at least currently : ) Hmmmm... I'm not good with ideas. I would like more activity though, I come on usually quite often and there isn't much to post on. I'm considering to maybe make a poll or something about the hardest final boss final spell. Maybe like more polls or votes and stuff like that? Oh, that would be great~ Though, also I'm concerned about things like most of our threads going inactive quickly.
